Which would then leave Sumire a bit of a mess choosing the original reality but without her sister or be in the fake reality.||

Personally I'm a fan of siblings interacting with each other and how much they care for one another.

||It would makes the stakes higher, but I don't think Maruki would outright lie to them, so I'd need to make it really happen... which would mean a lot of event editing required (and no Valentines/White Day, etc). It would also be very difficult for Sumire, since she won't have Joker to help her after losing Kasumi (especially after reconnecting like they did through the game).
I think it works alright as it is. Kasumi is surprisingly missing after the fight so the PT assume she died, but when they calm down and start thinking about it, they realize what truly happens (a bit like the player, if they're as surprised as them).
Also, I don't want to write a sad true ending. P5R is kind of my comfort game so I don't want it to become like P3 in that regard.||

I watched the P5 anime in english not long ago as well as the stage show. And he’s better in those(and probably in Japanese in the anime) but he is “unmoored” it feels.
really detached compared to Kasumi.
Also(and no shade to the delightful BetaFeMC, Akage-san) Kasumi being a month younger than Futaba and a woman gives her a way to relate to her that is unique to Kasumi.

She’s a completely unique character even before the dialogue is laid down. In so many ways I think the story works better with a female lead and Kasumi is an amazing one.

I mean I adore her and Ryuji together. Which when I play as Akage I can’t see at all. But then Kasumi is adorable looking up to her older senpai Ann, who feels strange being seen as the older one.
Which is the same thing I like about Makoto and Akage.

i would definitely take a closer look at p3 when it comes to outfit design, a lot of the characters are associated with a main color they use but their outfits are never monochromatic and have other colours to break it up (usually white or black)

I think white could be nice for the bow. I do think red will clash since it’s no where else but her hair and on that bow for the red. I personally like the blue. I’m just coming from the perspective of character design harmony though. If you made the bow red I think it would need a pop somewhere else in the outfit like the shoes. The thing that makes me say stay away from the original red with the new summer outfit is that the blues and cool whites are an entirely different saturation and value scale and it would clash
