Most of them should be relatively easy. Sumire has a really varied voice bank of lines.

Unlike some of the other characters, Sumire's words don't quite smush together as much (compared to say, Futaba or 3rd Semester Crow).

Kasumi has an identical voice. The few lines we hear Kasumi properly speak in vanilla, she sounds like a more confident and mature Sumire.

Just some tonal differences.

It's what makes Kasumi and Sumire sound somewhat different, despite them having nearly identical voices.

Another good comparison is Yusuke and Haru.

Yusuke is more confident than Haru, but she's more collected than he is.

Their voice lines reflect this.

Even if they both lapse into flowery speech at times.

It's why Haru sort of comes across with that meme of being sadistic.

She's pretty even in tone and keeps calm even in difficult spots, but she doesn't speak with overwhelming confidence.

So it creates a flatter sound that leans into that monotone.

She's not monotone, but there's an element of it, so when she says interesting things with that collected personality and cool head, it comes across with some hidden sharpness.

Especially when she goes, "Oh, I'm sorry,"

And then says the most outlandish thing with a straight tone and charming smile.

This is all why I love combing through these voicelines.

You can get a lot of information on someone just by how they speak, enunciate, and express themselves.

(It's also probably some of my 'tism kicking in.)

I'm sure many of us got something that triggers our "tism" so I get that big time.

For example, if you find Morgana annoying, it's because of his voice more than his lines. He can be arrogant, but his voice is what underlines that arrogance and makes it grating to hear.

Like, Ryuji, Akechi, and Futaba to an extent all can be a little arrogant at times too, but their voices don't make that arrogance stand out.

Morgana's voice just hits that fine space of "whiny sibling", but without the brattiness that makes Futaba's arrogance endearing.

Futaba's cocky lines are endearing because she's a bit of a brat, so it's big "little sister" energy, and she doesn't have the "whine" that Morgana has.

Ryuji's cockiness is complimented by his sky-high confidence, so it feels more natural and less irritating, especially with his "bro" energy.

Akechi is super over-the-top and smug, but that smugness is paired with a smooth voice that removes some of the edge his cockiness would otherwise have.

And of course, 3rd semester Akechi over does it on the "ham", so it becomes somewhat comical, also removing some of the edge of the cockiness.

For anyone who has had a younger sibling (doubly so if it's a sister), Futaba is almost a textbook example of one. Obviously, there is a lot of variance, but the way she acts, the way she gets a confidence boost when Joker is involved, and the way she's not afraid to butt heads with the adults and older kids around her pairs nicely with her brattiness and lingo to make her endearing.

Sothis was arrogant to some extent, but the big difference with her is that Sothis acknowledges the areas she is lacking in, and is more resolved to work with Byleth, instead of trying to prove herself and touting herself as being better than she is.

Morgana, on the other hand, spends most of his time before the Okumura Palace trying to one-up the others, and getting annoyed when he isn't completely acknowledged as the best of them.

He already had plenty of things unique to him that the others didn't, so his need to be recognized as useful was overly selfish.

He's the best healer in the party. He can detect treasures. He can provide reliable transportation. He's a good information summarizer, even if he's not 100% informed. He's generally got a good sense of going-ons (can pick up on things really well; intuition).

The fact that he has plenty of ways to be useful already makes his arrogance more insufferable as well, adding to the irritation his voice already creates.

And yes, picking on Ryuji is uncalled for. Especially when he gets upset that Ryuji fires back.

Like, if I go poke the bear and make fun of it, I can't complain when it chases me down and mauls me later.

Of course the bear isn't as intelligent as some of us.

But it doesn't need to be.

Doesn't mean we should poke fun at it or bother it.

So his personality combines with voice and makes him irritating.

(This is why I will likely be doing his lines after Oracle's.)

I do her fun lines, do his annoying lines, and then cool off and laugh with Crow's lines.

I think he does have some legitimate reasons for his insecurities which resulted in him running away tho. I can see how he'd begin to feel obsolete with Makoto taking over his role of analyzing enemies and then Futaba becoming their navigator. And while Ryuji is one of my all time favourites, I do think that him calling Morgana "useless" was a low blow since it feeded right into those insecurities. That's not to say that Mona is justified in his belittling of Ryuji, but I think their relationship could be healthier. Granted, Ryuji does apologize in the anime (and in a Thieves Den convo) and I think their teasing is more good-natured in Strikers, so I like to think they worked through their issues later on.

I want to like Morgana. I like the idea of Morgana. But I hate how the narrative handled Morgana (and several other characters, tbh). It feels like we're supposed to side with Morgana after he takes off - at the cost of Haru's introduction (narratively speaking). Something that adds to my issues with that sort of thing is how . . . flat / one-dimensional the characters are. Like, Makoto's supposed to be the smart one, but she makes some embarassingly dumb choices (the thug dodging all her "traps"? the most obvious, "I'm a cop" things to say?) and the other characters feel dumbed down once she's introduced. Ann is reduced to eye candy, and Futaba is treated like she's above reproach (by the narrative). (Seriously Futaba, Morgana obviously didn't like you treating him like a cat. Understandably tempting, but not cool.) Ryuji at least has some moments to shine, but most of the time he's not allowed to be anything more than the butt of everyone's jokes.

Gotta agree there. Morgana was calling Ryuji useless from their first meeting in Kamoshida's palace. Granted, being called useless was more upsetting for Morgana than it was for Ryuji

Yea that's fair. They really didn't have a healthy dynamic to start off with and I definitely found Morgana a bit too condescending towards Ryuji. Which I guess is why he responded in kind and the two had that unhealthy cycle of lashing out at each other until it culminated in Morgana running away.

Adult romances aren't supported and you get a big message that warns you so if you try, it just goes back to vanilla dialogue

And tbh down the line the adult's flags will likely be reused to let the boys be romanced instead

Wisteria's suggested to me to turn some stuff into config options and offered to do that for me. I kind of want to be able to do that on my own though, if only to be able to do the maintenance.
I understand there's a few things to set up with Visual Studio which I've never used, but I can probably reverse engineer what Wisteria did. I'm not completely clueless with coding, just verrrrry rusted.

I moved a model from Rose & Violet to the Alternate models mod so it can work with the long hair variants and the white recolors. The cutscene should now properly reflect the variant you've selected.

Kasumi and Akage are the protagonist for P5 for me. It feels weird to play as Ren when I attempt to finish strikers.
