So I’m trying to use the compendium mod for my play through of the answer but I’ve never modded before and it’s all so complicated and confusing to me. There’s a guide for installing mods but I’m just not following. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my advice is always to go back to a step that you know you did correctly and go very slowly as you continue

HostFS cheat, the thing we use to make the cheats load, has its code written specifically for unmodified usa isos of p3fes

as long as you copy over your memcard folder to the new pcsx2 install you should keep your saves

i don't know how the saves work between modded and unmodded isos so you may need to redo a bit (i hope not)

Ahh okay, I was hoping because I have two versions of pcsx2 I could have my controllable party member rom on the old version

modded vanilla iso could work on old pcsx2 as well but it's a bit more of a pain in the ass to set up

can you provide more detail? I see you're following the GB modding guide, do you know where you are with that?

you may want to consider using this guide https://persona-3-fes-modding-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
it is essentially the same as the one on GB, but it's easier to read as it's organized better

You will need to get the .ELF file from your Persona 3 ISO.

It seems like you're jumping all over the place and confusing yourself more. Honestly you might be better off restarting your installation process and closely following what the guide tells you to do, rather than trying to salvage this. Again, I would recommend this guide over the GB guide as it is easier to read

you are opening it with the incorrect program. easiest way is to open it by right clicking on the file -> 7-zip -> open archive

the more permanent fix is

right click -> open with -> choose another app
click on more apps, scroll down
select "7-Zip File Manager" if you see it
if not, click on look for another app on this PC. locate your 7-Zip installation and select 7zFM.exe
this will let you double click to open the file instead of doing right click -> 7-zip -> open archive
