P3P's dungeon environments look different from FES' so the stupid thought came into my head "Is it possible for P3P as well?"
I can't think of any reason why you couldn't if someone got p3p's debug menu working to a similar level of the p4g one. I kinda doubt anyone would have the drive to actually change the envs though. I don't actually know but I feel like the difference between fes and portable isn't as substantial as p4 to p4g. Plus interest in p3p in general isn't exactly that high

it also seems like they'd need minimal changes too
of course, that requires a functional P3P debug menu with env support
put off replying to this because I was out today but I will throw this in when I can
done but it did not have a huge effect on file size anyways
made the noise tx more resembling PS2 (works better w/ 30 fps, but still fuzzy, I guess there's no way to force the game filter it like on PS2)
(tbh I think P4G noise is just fine)

the difference is more apparent if you load it into the game and look for yourself
it'd be great if the area the static uses up could be changed
i always turn it off bcs its really intrusive
but in the ps2 version it was only the corners, seems like for p4g they kept the same borders and just added more static instead of making more space
i think that's something handled in the game's code so probably not trivial

I have a working skybox right now, designed for samegawa floodplain, so I'm thinking of perhaps starting work on the other fields using that skybox. the skybox patch would still be desirable in the long run, but
- I could do the majority of the work now, with the BG needing to be adjusted later
- this version could be adapted to be compatible with vita or switch; slightly worse visually but still 95% of the mod

I also currently have toggles between P4, stock desaturated, and stock... but unless I can batch convert stock desaturated I might remove that option to save time
I think most people will be happy enough to have a toggle between P4 and P4G, and the 3 toggles only would be necessary for P4G exclusive stuff

yeah we had that discussion a bit ago, unfortunately not a texture. I did have an idea but I was hesitant to pursue it because idk what impact it would have and it would require me to create essentially custom assets
I've added config options to the mod with this update. you can now enable/disable fields as desired. this also includes Samegawa Floodplain but I will be removing that and the new skybox for release because the skybox change fucks all Inaba fields
please test this and let me know if anything breaks horribly
that release has slightly outdated descriptions but I'll update them for the next release
prev build was a little more broken than i realized so heres a fixed one. i havent noticed any major issues but i did limited testing
could still use some more in depth testing thankssss

I would recommend releasing the P4G32 one as a standalone mod or include it as a part of the texture mod if applicable
users without P4FR should still have the benefit of a not stupid looking map screen lol
id probably recommend adding code to account for P4FR. it makes a little more sense for that mod to check for P4FR than P4FR to check for that mod

the real best part about being a mod is being able to pin and unpin messages in my concept threads lol
@burnt valve pin this one instead. Both PS2 maps in one package, folder-structured. The green one received some tweaks to remedy the seams as best as the shoddy field mesh allows

you only need to have a mostly complete save file loaded in the JP version, the save doesn't even have to be Japanese afaik

The camera would be frozen but you can work around that yeah, the event IDs being between 080_500 and 080_511
Converting saves between regions doesn't work; loading them says the save is corrupt. but what I did was change the game's region on Steam to Japanese, and boot into one of Loaf's NG+ saves so that it changes the name. Then convert that save to Vita. Now, loading it will crash the game but you don't need to load it. Having it present is enough to access TV listings from the title screen

speaking of warmer colors the school on rainy days has warm lighting as opposed to p4g where it's all kinda blue
it took me a second to get adjusted to it but I really do like P4 keeping the school looking warm and cozy
well I've added config toggles anyways so if people don't like the fields they can use the default P4G ones 😎

Yeah i don't really think that'd be the way to go here lol, esp given that to me this looks like a case of them replacing 2D background details with 3D ones (in this case you can see what kinda looks like 2D hills in the PS2 background which seemingly aren't there in the golden field, but the 3D mountains on the golden field are basically in the same spot where the 2D ones were)

there is a skybox texture present to be clear, it's just the generic one i've been using for samegawa floodplain and other fields (since p4g stock shares the skyboxes)
the big issue iirc was that it's easy to replace skyboxes but it isnt easy to make a code mod that uses a stock skybox rather than erroring/hanging if a skybox isn't present for a specific field

Kiwami's changes in style are, more often than not, unintentional and only a result of (lazily) porting and importing content from Yakuza 1 into what's effectively the entire framework of Yakuza Zero
P4G may be in a different engine, but everything is pretty 1:1 all things considered, and as Brawler has shown, it's not like they couldn't have chosen to replicate the original look because it is perfectly possible in the engine
If anything, it took, in some ways, more effort because they had to change a lot of assets to help in the artstyle change process
Personally, I subscribe to the idea that they just wanted the game to look more bright and colorful to stand out on the Vita OLED screen

izanami's goal was to spread overwhelming bloom to blind the masses

I remember playing batim dark revival and the bloom was at like 300% there, genuinely looked terrible
its a bit of a pain in the ass to figure out the right weather setting when loading a field, but the P4 JP debug menu might help with getting to any obscure PS2 fields y'all need

I'm not sure how to handle winter areas. I could definitely add more fog but the amount they have already looks pretty nice. it also depends on how you interpret the fog in Inaba. should it be foggy in the winter after they've defeated ameno-sagiri?
it's either I just touch up lighting or I also mess with fog
honestly i think lighting only should be fine, at least in that map's winter version
it has a pleasant amount of fog without feeling oppressive
and it's not storming so no need to go overboard
though with the power lines, a nearer fog distance might be good just to fade them out a little more against that super bright background
