#Decompiled BF doesn't show any actual text

I'm trying to edit a scene but none of the text shows up as actual text, only what I believe are hex calls? I'm new to this so I don't really know.
Is this normal and will I have to just rewrite everything I want to edit to be readable or did I decompile the file wrong?

It should be readable (not like that), I've seen that happen before although I don't really know why. What did you use to get that msg file?

i unpacked the game with the cripakgui unpacker and decompiled it with the atlus script compiler

That's weird, script compiler should work fine. Are you sure you set it to the right game (if you used the gui) or the right settings (if you used cli)?

It decompiles fine for me. Are you using the gui or command line? I'd guess either you're using the cli and choosing the wrong encoding or you've just got an outdated version of script compiler

good news is that the gui compiler works bad news is i decompiled the main cpk so its in japanese

but the solution worked so we're all good
