Because if you render something out of AE, and you want high quality, unless its H264 that is EASILY the best version, it still takes an uncomfortable while for ambitious videos

otherwise, once that first pain step is finished, you can turn it into Mp4 on other software and its practically instant but there is no avoiding hte AE curse

On the other way around, if I want to, i can size a canvas down to a reasonable size and my drawing won't be pixelated if it was big enough
