You can also drag and drop the pet just saying :>

Rather than removing the sell button, they can just have a "lock/unlock" system. Items can be "locked" so you will not accidentally sell it. There will be a prompt on your screen whether you decide to "lock" or "unlock" the specific item. Should be applicable to all items, including pets.

I never press "unequip", i just put the pet at inventory and the choose the hero and put on him.
