I have been thinking and I feel that when playing Ars in single-player feels a bit lonely in regards to battle and the such.
So how about making an Ars Illager similar to the Evolker and having him attack the player with some random combination of premade spell glyphs?
And when killed, it might drop a random tier glyph, some source gems, a tomb, or other Ars miscellaneous items.
That would be nice since we already have a Shady Wizard villager.

This one is tricky.. The reason we don't have random spawns anymore is because people were getting wrecked by the Wilden mobs we already had. People playing in multiplayer were forced to have to deal with AN mobs, even if they didn't want to interact with the mod their friends/the server host included.

It's really tricky to introduce a new overworld hostile mob that isn't just basically a skeleton or zombie without it having an undesired overarching effect on the whole overworld experience.

Well, you could have it assigned To the Illager spawns, so maybe just have them spawn on Raids and the Woodland mansion.
So no random spawn.

Or maybe do something like apotheosis and their Wizard Towers.
have a hut structure that has a single "Illager Mage" but unlike witch huts, they do not respawn.

Tried for a bit to have random spawn mages at the start of 1.18 iirc. They were pure chaos

And never had the chance to retry with the mage tower approach cause I'm not a builder by any means

"Mage Tower" was just an example.
It could be anything from a hut, to a open camp

I want something more important, since it would be heavily tied to a rework in AE progression

Eventually being compensated with summon structure rituals for skyblocks & co.

Iron's might help with ideas, the patron server restart will probably have that one (since we want to see how much similar and different they are)

We do have mobs with spellcasting abilities planned to be added if that helps. Current plan is have them spawn in structures similar to Wilden.
