Similar to the Void Jar, this sourcelink would take in the same items as the void jar and output source to a nearby source jar. Due to the wide range of possible items that could be inputted this sourcelink would likely have the worst ratio of items to source however it could be used in either quarries or trash cans to get rid of unwanted items.

I think that the dragon head would be a bit too hard to get, especially since they aren’t renewable. I haven’t thought through how to connect it to the device, but if you are just looking to gate it, might I recommend Shulker shells?

For dragon heads, which you are right about the difficulty of obtaining, its kinda like how the dragon breathes that dragon breath linger but source instead which is than put in a source jar

I have thought about it a bit more, and perhaps an Enchanting Apparatus recipe requiring 2 Source Gems, 2 Gold Ingots, a Shulker Chest, and a Jar of Voiding as the reagent?

If it has a cooldown like regular links do, then that's ok. But that also makes it nearly useless for your intended case of a quarry

There would likely be a cooldown, but not one so long as to make it useless for quarries, I assume most quarries dont mine at very high speeds as well.
It would most certainly be capable of not being fast enough to convert trash to source if you drop items near it fast enough

even a slow Create quarry mines blocks faster than the normal cooldown of a Sourcelink though. It's about once a second, if I remember right? Mining more than a block a second is pretty easy.

My suggestion onto this:
Maybe it has different values onto each item...
I mean- recipes in 1.18 at least take like, 2000 source base
If lets say- cobble is worth 1 source per cobble, that wouldnt be too insane
Or even if it could be attached to an inventory tbh-
It could be a source generator that can use a chest as a buffer
