Not every school does it the same way. I didn’t even have Homeroom in my high school. We call it seminar technically but everyone knows what Homeroom is so I just use that word instead. Homeroom is typically just hang out and do nothing but ours is a real class. And my seminar this go around is the reason I want to quit tbh. My last seminar group was tough but they’re my babies. This group…I genuinely don’t want to come into work the days I have them.

Awww. I can see how that would be rough. You can really bond with a group over 4 years but on the flip side you could get a group of aholes. Ours was first thing in the morning and only about 20 minutes. We didn't actually do anything unless there was something big coming up.

Yeah we have like an hour. It used to be first thing but they put it after the second period of the day now. Its just there’s a big group of kids in my class who seem to think nobody else in the room exists except them. Makes it very challenging for me to explain or help others who are actually trying.

Yeah. That's a huge problem it seems in today's schools. I guess I was lucky enough that when I went I was in a gt program and the other kids were just as big of nerds as I was. My sister went private and they didn't put up with that, if you disrupted you were removed from the class. But my integrated public electives were a zoo. 40 minutes getting the class under control, 10 minutes of learning and then dismissal. Except for band but that's a different kind of nerd

So none of that was ever allowed or even seen

I love most of my students, genuinely. Even when they’re difficult. And they’re often difficult lol.
