May Mayhem
Anything goes
Maybe you Missed Me May - games which were not commercially successful in their lifetime - the hope is that this will be a month of hidden gems
Mass Market May - populist games which were commercially successful at launch. A month of games we all know and hopfully love
Maternal May - Games with a prominent mother character, whether an npc or the pc
Mythopoeic May - games which do a noble job of world building or lore (mythopoeic = giving rise to myths)
Monkey May- Game with monkey in it! 🐒
Must Move May - games which require skillful controls or otherwise nimble fingers (opposite of mind over matter march)
Micro May - Games with a HLTB time of 3 hours or less. A refreshment from Oops All RPGs April!
Missing Dimension May - 2D games only
Mix It Up May- games that blend or feature different genres
Map Marker May - games which have a location (real or fictional) in their name - Crusin' USA or Skies of Arcadia, for example
Mean May – games in which you play the villain or a criminal of some sort.
Mid May - Games with only a 5/10 rating 
Mobile May 2026: The game you wish to nominate must have been originally released on a portable system! (GB, PSP, NDS, etc.)
May your eternal light shine bright- games can only be nominated by eternal champions
Maybe Musical May - Games with music referenced in the title that maybe aren't exactly music focused games
MAYbe not RPGs - Anything but an RPG
Metaphrase May - The game can't have been released in English but has a patch available
Let’s Solve a MayStery! -games with a mystery or detective theme
Marine May - Games that are nautical or water themed
(April Showers Bring) May Flowers - Protagonist or Antagonist must have earth or plant powers
Monster May - Games where you play as a non-human/humanoid.
Mascot May - Games starring company mascot characters! Whether it's Mario or Sonic, Mickey Mouse or Chester Cheetah, Bugs Bunny or Ronald McDonald, as long as it stars a mascot character then it's eligible!
Mario May - Games with mario in it
May the Force be with You! Star Wars games.
Mustard May - yellow protagonists or hotdog/deli sandwich themed
AniMay - Games based on an animated film or series.
Dale a tu cuerpo alegria May-carena, Que tu cuerpo es pa' darle alegria y cosa buena, Dale a tu cuerpo alegria, May-carena. Hey May-carena
Games which have a notable, catchy or otherwise great soundtrack
(No this is not a serious suggestion)
Post moon mission May - Space/Sci-fi theme
May Day: Games that take place over the course of one day
Moody May -- games with a heavy atmosphere / tone -- think dark, somber, eerie, lonely, emotionally charged
Maybe maybe maybe…no!
Games where the main character messes up a lot, maybe their whole life, maybe just in small ways.
Mayday May — games whose initial premise involves a distress call, a disaster aboard some sort of vessel, etc.
Perry May-son: games with whodunit, crime, police and/or legal themes.
Managerial May: Games that require you to punch a digital clock! 👔
The game you nominate must center on employment, logistics, or administration.
Basically Do Your Job June but maybe we'll get actual on-theme games voted for 
Meta-May: games that break the fourth wall or comment/connect to real life
Muscle May. Let the biceps speak for themselves. Game must have a muscular character featured
Mainline May - All Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Metroid mainline games (a list will be provided but logically its non spin offs). You pick any three you want for a point each and then we NEVER CAN NOMINATE THESE MAIN SERIES GAMES EVER AGAIN
That was aMAYzing! Games featuring amazing stories/narrative with action oriented or intense gameplay. No slow playing RPGs or puzzle games...need a break from those.
May I Have Some More: Another month of three RPGs 
Maybe 8 is enough. Games that are 8 hours or less in HLTB.
M'aidez May- games that don’t have a guide available and we have to help each other to complete
I am the very model of a modern May-jor general: games must feature military themes and/or characters expressing themselves in song.
Life is a restaurant, and I’m your May-tre ‘d: games must feature food preparation/service as a story or mechanical element (beyond just using food icons as health pickups).
Metamorphosis May: games that feature a transformation of the main character from one form to another.
Misty May: Games with mist in it...
Mayternal Champions - Nominations only from the Eternal Champions
"Up Up and A-May" games that take place in the skies.
Materialistic May - Game must feature a robust item menu. ||AKA "Oh no it's RPGs again!||
Come What May - no rules for nominations but no voting, one game per category is chosen randomly
May The Force Be With You. Games must involve a major character that has pronounced mental powers of some sort. Force users, mutants, etc All count
Misunderstood May: Games everyone else says are bad, but you’ll defend
Mundane May: Games about the things we do for free in real life
Muted May: Games with soundtracks that will drive you insane
Mockery May: Games that are clearly "inspired by" something else (ie: Zelda clones)
MAYbe she's born with it - games that feature a protagonist or heroine with a pre-ordained fate.

- Bad/Good box art that makes no sense to the game
Maybe Try Something New For Once May - Only nominations from the libraries of devices we haven't tried yet
McDonald's May- we play McDonald's games
What about Burger King games?
De-make may: a port of a video game on an older or less capable platform: ie streets of rage for game gear, prince of Persia sands of time for the GBA
Masked-in May - where protagonist have alter egos and wearing something in their faces (helmet, mask, cloths, or anything to cover up their faces, yes ninja is included)
May I Please Actually Play? - Games where you have direct control over your character (no selecting commands/cards for gameplay!)
