Honestly… I'm wondering if there's a huge market for that. I know quite a few gamers with good salaries, who enjoy AAA gaming on maxed hardware, and they all want to enjoy their games on 4K HDR TVs larger than a baby elephant.

Playing RDR2 on an 8" screen seems like a huge sacrifice.

The market for the Legion 2 (or other $1k+ handhelds) seems really tiny to me.

Although the one argument I hear from handhelds in general is from working parents (usually former gamers) who want to be able to play wherever they are… which doesn't really lend itself to competitive/complex/very involved gaming.

I think that's mostly why emulation of older games is appealing : save states. PC games just don't have that pickup-and-play-ness.

It's not even playing on a 8+" screen that's the main issue , it's that the massive price jump doesn't really match the performance over last gen , sure amazing OLED and all that .
Now it maybe just early and drivers will make a big improvement later but as of now it's not worth upgrading if you have a 1st gen GO , at best you see a 10%-25% gain for double the price.
I really think Lenovo screwed themselves and sales will tank on price alone

The G3 is capable yes, but they spec a 10gbps 3.1 USB Port in their spec sheets which pretty much should max out at 4k60 with DSC.

I'm not in it for native 4k120, but for streaming 4k120 to my livingroom TV. Currently I have an x86 MiniPC sitting there fot those duties but I'd be happy to swap the MiniPC for a handheld with Artemis.

PxPlay supports upscaling the 1080p stream on Remote Play to 1440p or 4K and it looks pretty good honestly, means I could actually play something like Bloodborne or other games that are capped at 1080p at higher resolutions

Or even play something like LOU Remastered in the performance mode for 60fps and then upscale it to 4K rather than the native 4K30 mode

(obviously while I'm using the pocket in a dock)

Odin 3 can't be ignored, so it's not a choice between both for me, the only choice is if I get a Konkr G3 additionally to finally see what Ayaneo has up it's sleeve and maybe give it to my kids and use it as a travel device.

So yesterday I bought he konkr fit 16/512 g3 gen3. I did that because I was told the elite drivers for emulation weren't going to be ready for the foreseeable future. Should I upgrade to the elite now that this new information has been released today? Does the elite version ship later than the g3 gen3?

I would be using this as a switch emulator (only for a few games)/winlator/steam and finally GeForce now for some easy setup gaming.

There are examples that can go both ways. There are plenty of games that run incredibly well with the 8 Elite and outperform prior generations of Snapdragon. Likewise, there are cases where compatibility isn't there. It's not so straightforward situation.

Many handhelds have a lof of their R&D recycled from previous devices, so at some point it becomes just BOM + production costs, and they try to come out (at least) even.

Will people still be buying the Konkr Fit in a year ? I honestly don't know but it's doubtful. Influencers are likely most useful in the early weeks / months ; after that it's a combination of marketing and word-of-mouth.

Also a doubling of backers is great in the early days but the Odin 3 has twice the backers with a week left to the campaign and no online reviews of the product. Ayaneo's right to extend the SEB prices in steps : it drummed up FOMO and makes them look like the good guys in what is otherwise a fairly standard marketing strategy.

The whole idea of the Konkr line is genius if you think about it : build up a reputation for luxury items while perfecting your industrial process until you create a secondary line with the same (but now cheaper) processes and brand it "budget", making a lot of people wonder how it's possible.
