#Anbernic RG477M
1 messages Ā· Page 4 of 1
The android play store support thing is annoying. You can only get full catalogue off a phone/tablet + controller.
And yet another anbernic device which fucks up the GeForce Now controls š¦
Think I'll just wait for my pocket ace and see how that is for now. Would have been more interested in a 477h
luckily nobody cares about GeForce Now
That's probably a wise move
No, those are just the packed in microSD options.
All of the 557s are 12/256 internal.
Who's trying to playing dirge of cereberus unironically?
looks at burned ps2 copy of dirge I had at random as a kid
Seems like this is gonna a very powerful handheld, Iām hyped
Hype is real
Is there already a plastic version of this?
im ngl the device featured in rcg's video looks like a piece of crap. the unfinished metal look is rly bad imo. the brown one looks much better but... brown...
i want it now
the grey one looks a bit too raw, i thought it was going to be more matte like Macs
also clicky triggers again š
Over 200 dollars for what? š
the rg477m and the rg slide are suitable devices for what im looking for but idk which one to get. leaning towards the rg slide just because i know what it is and its cheaper
its kind of crazy how the rg477m is like the only device that is seriously up for consideration for me it ticks almost all my boxes. i just dont care for the fact its metal lol
i really think they should have released a plastic version first
cars, phones, even anbernic devices, more premium options always get released first. it's just a marketing thing
Itās very heavy, almost 100 grams heavier than the 405M
And that was already a bit weighty
The raw metal finish on the silver is also terrible. The finish on the āgreenā 405M was much nicer.
Look at the 406H unless you need it pocketable
the weight is from the active cooler too
only if they do a H700 option, that'll be much lighter
Stickless black metal version with 6 face buttons and rg arc dpad pls
The sega nomad must be reborn
(And a more budget chip ofc)
Done on purpose
Do you guys think the rumble motors can be removed to shave off 20-30grams?
I think the finish looks cool. Metal silver color looks terrible on plastic, it looks legit on actual aluminum imo
Iām not gonna lie, I actively had to fight the urge to just say that as my only response since I was focusing on talking in terms of actual gameplay performance.
But yeah, even if this game wasnāt such a mess on Android Iād still question why anyone would want to play it.
thx
I like how the theme in rgc's video for the 406H is to wait for the next one
But we had to wait for like a year almost for a new one lol
i mean sure he was saying 'maybe you should wait a month or two to see what they come up with next' and the context of that statement was ANY handheld that ambernic might make... but they really didn't release anything 4:3 in the retroid pocket landscape style for like a year... and even then it was a niche sliding device...
the device is still $180 too š©
This device looking like my endgame handheld
Dpad top
Very powerful chip
No stinky OLED
The metal probably only makes it $30-40 more then the eventual non metal that will come out
What do you guys think if they released a non metal version how much less would it be
$50? More?
Feedback has universally been that clicky is bad so I hope they fix that for the release
the rumble motors used in these are the kinds used in older cellphones, they weigh less than a gram
you know a non-metal version will be shaped like the rg cube though
this screen is the same height as the cube screen just wider
How much less would a plastic version weight?
we can only speculate there but I imagine it wouldn't weigh much more than the 406h
but that's assuming it's shaped like the 477m
if it's shaped like a wide RG cube it might be like 300g even?
Maybe you donāt realize, but plastics need to be reinforced in many areas, so the device will be slightly bulkier.
The weight probably comes from the new cooling system and battery, which will remain.
Depends on the thickness of aluminum used, and how much plastic will be needed to keep a good structural integrity.
This looks so good, the 405M was one of my all time favourites
I probably won't be able to justify the price tag though
I can never justify the price tag but I still buy them.
Youāre telling me that with this level of materials, design, engineering, R&D, labor, manufacturing, software & firmware (etc!) ... itās still not worth the cost of 15 Big Mac meals in New York?
but but but its overpriced š
can't wait for the stream =]
Iām really busy lately š«
do you really need to sleep?
the first souls game on anbernic
This device could be the perfect companion to my Odin Portal as I use that more for android games, psp, WiiU and switch. PS2 and GC wide-screen looks a bit funky coz it's stretched out so the 477M could remedy that
Though I might wait for it to be discounted a bit or wait for the 477V/H
Anbernic should have started at 256gb at that 240$ then 512gb at 290$ that would make sense
Ok, send it to me and i will stream it for you
So they either found the same manufacturer and Anbernic doesnāt have an exclusivity deal on the screen they ācustom manufacturedā, or it was never custom manufactured in the first place.
Either way, at least this means others can use it.
Yes, but is the 406 screen (60 Hz) or the Slide/477 screen? (120Hz)
Nevermind! Itās screen is 5ā 4:3!
Like damn, I was not expecting this.
why is any of this important. the controls look worse
And itās, 1024x768ā¦
Yeah, the hesitation was mostly a partial reaction to the idea of it being the main screen, but then I remembered that this is the second screen for a dual screen handheld, and that at least makes it way more understandable.
you're going to be eagle claw gripping it and getting thumb/finger cramps from the controls being that close to the edge
Take two of those bad boys and you got a perfect 4X DS device
Hello Anbernic,
Would it be possible to add screen color adjustment options - such as Saturation and Gamma - to your recent Android devices, like the RG406H/V and the new RG477M?
Almost every review mentions, "I just wish the saturation were higher - more like an OLED."
The community Linux-based devices offer saturation control, and it makes a big difference.
that kinda sucks tbh
Eh, I already thought about it in upcoming and itās honestly fine enough for me since Iād just be playing older retro stuff on it with Sharp Shimmerless anyways. So anything that wants a higher resolution, Iād just play on the top screen anyways.
given the price they will ask for this, I would prefer Anbernics 4.7" panel
Oh thatās the main thing Iām wondering about for this thing.
I cannot wait to see the price š
Are they going for aiming towards a cheaper price point overall instead of just going hog wild and letting it be $500?
well, given that they use the G3x Gen2 instead of the G3 Gen3, I can see them trying to keep it around reasonable $399 for the base model
Yup, so if they do manage to keep it at that price, then Iāll give it to them that imo this screen is a neat compromise.
should have still asked Anbernic for their 4:3 panel
it's not like Anbernic would lose any customers over this
i expect this to be 400 minumum early bird tbh
something about the n3ds xl layout made my hands go numb within 15 min, so that ones a no go for me
How do you feel about the ergo of say, Odin 2 Vs Odin 2 Mini then?
Odin 2 Mini seems like a no go from anyone without small hands imo
Did not like the Odin 2, but I was a fan of the Odin 2 mini
Apparently itās potentially going to be freaking $280-$420.
#1394584145736499201 message
I've heard/seen constant posts on Twitter and Reddit about hand cramps and stuff because of it bein so small
I cannot understate how much I actively have a hard time believing it.
I doubt anything AyaNeo could be less than 449 tbh
Aside from obviously the Android one they had
Iirc that's 300something?
this is not anbernic chat
Hello Anbernic
i mean, if you're just venting, that's fine, but they won't ever see this. this discord is just a youtube/fan community
@regal perch
From Anbernic's homepage:

I thought it was well known that anbernic related individuals prowl these threadsā¦
that's just a rumor. they've never announced their presence like other companies
Have you been on their discord lol
Theyāre pretty hands off when it comes to interacting with the community even on their own server
the constant reminder that a percentage of users think this is the -entire- emulation community
nah Anbernic is not to be found here
Sounds like something an agent of anbernic would say
RG477M goes on Sale Aug 2nd

Awe hell yeah
Man the D8300 is a beast
When this thing drops in price down the road itās gonna be a monster
Which usually means +100$ for western early bird IGG + 150$ for msrp
Snapdragon š
heh yeah... mali gpu fanboys š
and snapdragon fanboys š
I have an RP Mini, this has me like
A conflict as old as the Android Emulation community.
its pathetic but people are tribal and silly like that š
Itās at least not without merit in its origin. Mali keeping their drivers locked down is one of the most annoying aspects of their GPUās, since it means weāre entirely reliant on either them not making the same mistakes that occurred on the T618ās drivers, or weāre reliant on the device manufacturers fixing said mistakes like Retroid did for the RP3+ and Flip 1.
Certainly it's not without merit, not contesting that
Adreno gpu, Mali gpu, I donāt care man whatever gets me that sweet 2x f zero GX
This doesnāt mean theyāre not good when theyāre without major issues, but when there are major or even moderate issues, it make things a lot more annoying on the user end, versus just being able to slap in an alternate driver that works better.
Besides a crappy amount of internal storage the base 8GB Ram model enough to do high end Android gaming ?
Im still going back and forth wether the base or higher end model makes more sense , personally think the 12Gb 256 model is kind of overpriced
8gb ram should be enough for what you need
Not really interested in Winalator or Switch gaming
if i was going to order this i'd go with the 8/128gb model. That one is reasonably priced
the 12gb model is more than I'd pay but not what id call over the top overpriced either
For some reason I just want something compact and powerful for mostly Android gaming and have other handhelds for emulation
And extra $50 is kinda steep imo
I'd prefer waiting to see if they do this as a 477P model as i dont have a use for this
477v would be peak
Thatās what I was thinking
Iāll get the 8gb and if they do make a 477V Iāll sell the M and get that
those are domestic prices, so I strongly expect $379 as the base early bird
If that's the price, why wouldnt people just get an RP5?
RP5 is the new "just get a steam deck bro"
Anbernic RG477M Review
The RG477M goes on sale August 2nd 2025, I will update with links when they go live.
Buy here TBA.
Specs
4.7-inch LTPS In-Cell touchscreen with full lamination, a resolution of 1280Ć960
CPU Dimensity 8300 Processor, high-efficiency 4nm process technology 5G SOC chip,
Octa-core CPU including 1[email protected] + 3[email protected]...
Pretty much lol
God I wish the rp5 was pocketable
It's basically perfect in every aspect otherwise
stick inset is far from perfect
16:9 is far from perfect as well
Have any of you tried bfi or crt beam? Which one do you prefer?
I might try it on my 120hz phone just to see what its like
I've personally witnessed flickering, and the screen became very dim
perhaps the flickering is because on a 120hz display you might not always get a constant 120hz
but like 119.88 or something like that
yeah, same, on my pocket evo it feels like a flickery mess. The brightness on the crt beam is way better than straight BFI though.
is there a world where you can literally just clip the stem down on the analog and put the topper back on?
It depends what sticks they use if like the 406H/V series than yes if like the Slide and RG 557 , those were non removable
Call me crazy but I'd love Caanoo style sticks on this
Never had one but more manufacturers should use sliders
they are the same as 406h/v
Thatās actually great news IMO
Those aren't sliders, they're full analog sticks that are flanked way out. So nothing gets underneath the top of the sticks
I have the RG477M - AMA
i've seen that done, can't cut it down by much & if you take too much off you're kinda screwed, the cap won't clear the shell
good point about clearance yeah
Russ had trouble getting controls to be recognized with Dead Cells and GeoForce Now have you come across any Android games/apps where they just flat out didnāt work ?
Im actually looking for a compact handheld that can do high end AAA and maybe sone streaming, the Retroid Mini is just too small a screen
For high end AAA search for devices with 16:9 screens, not 4:3 CRT-like screens.
I would normally agree 100% but those are usually much more expensive and I donāt like the loud clicky buttons on the RP5
Compact high-end Android gaming? Odin 2 Mini.
Almost like double the price tho
im so tempted by this
& that miniled screen is hot garbage
No Anbernic or Retroid is good at the "high end" part. You're either going to want Ayn or Ayaneo.
I hear people hate the Mini LED screen isnt great and is a hundred more
I've told Anbernic about the Geforce issue (I haven't tested it), Dead Cells works fine for me (dpad movement, analog stick as camera), Stardew Valley controls work as well but the UI scale is a bit messed up in it
Eh ... I'm fine with the miniLED. It's probably the best option you can currently buy for gaming outdoors, if you're into that sort of thing of course.
What is this outdoors thing ?
I think Anbernic will push out a software update before launch, so if you get one at launch it may need an update immediately
If you do all your gaming locked away in a dark closet, well it might be too bright.
there's been some talk here and over in the RG577 channel about performance modes/fan noise, also Russ brought it up in his review - this feedback as been forwarded onto Anbernic
Are you trying to shame me ?
Boring over world, needs a new update for sure
Be warned: A 16:9 screen on a 4:3 display looks ridiculously small.
I'll forward this onto anbernic, no guarantees of response
Have you seen the same performance mode issues with the 477? (As in, "auto" mode is too slow for PS2 games like Star Ocean 3 and "high" mode runs PS2 but also the fan almost all the time)
I haven't played much PS2 but for PS3 there's a big difference between auto and high so I'm assuming it is using a similar profile to the RG557
tell them to give us the option to fully unlock the govenor, even if it turns it into a hot-plate
On the 557 I've noticed that there is no good performance setting ... auto is too slow (worse performance than T820) and high gives heat/fan issues and drains the battery much like a ROG Ally running a AAA game. I was mainly curious if Anbernic had fixed the issues for the 477, as that would give me at least some hope that the 557 could be made to not suck.
Also, it's on hardcore mode and you can't switch.
RG477M I can run GT4 at 60fps 2x on Auto
4?
nothing stands out on my sample, obviously not OLED black but the backlight is uniform across the screen
sweet, glad to hear it š
AYA proving yet again that they donāt care about ergonomics š„²
gonna skip this device
i saw the review
fan is too loud
its gonna annoy the hell out of me
Yeah I'm worried about that I guess... Everything else seems great tho and I've been waiting for something like this
hopefully someone does those better buttons mod for the shoulders
i had the same annoyance with Odin1
so when odin2 came and because its so much more performant, i didnt need the fan and i was good
Tbf I use headphones a lot of the time so idk how much I'll even notice
Yeah anbernic could have gone the Odin Portal route and skip the 256gb option for 512gb at that price point
i dont coz i play without sound LOL
anyways im out, not gonna follow devices im not interested
see you all in other channels
Has anyone experienced eye fatigue because of BFI? I recently learned that the eye strain we get from CRTs is not bc of playing in a dark room but rather due to the blanking (or black period or flicker) on the CRT. And due to the CRT having a gradual fade out to black between new scan lines, BFI is actually more exaggerated and has a larger blanking/flicker effect. Shouldnāt BFI be terrible for your eyes?
Battery life could be better but Russ did test it out with the fans on all the time so it might get 10 hours
Idk maybe with extended use? In short sessions on my Ally I haven't felt anything too bad
BFI and similar techniques do increase eye strain/fatigue, but just like pwm flicker, most are not noticeably affected by it.
Controls were fine on Dead Cells, it was Diablo Immortal that didn't register the inputs. Dead Cells would stutter on the high graphics mode.
Good to know, just a random question I had
If you're sensitive to that stuff or playing for extended time periods it might bother you but yeah personally I haven't noticed anything
anbernic give me the 50xxH pls
with the 1024x768 5"
or even better, the 50xxV
#šāchampions-lounge message
I mean I've been pretty happy with the 40xxv
Would be nice to have that higher res 4" screen though
And maybe a larger battery
There's room there for it
Yeah I think my dream budget handheld would be a 40xxV without the stick and with the 406 screen
I actually found myself not minding the stick and using it
Didn't think I would and honestly thought I'd remove it but it has come in handy
I did end up upgrading it to the nicer capped one
Cause I've honestly started hating the cap of the switch stick
I can't go back to 480p
My bad , I got the games confused
What does this mean
That's ok, all the best games were made before 16:9 screens š
I mean 16:9 content on this screen is literally the same size as the OG PSP
So you're not losing anything really
Yes there is, managed to shove a 5000mah battery in mine. I hear you on the screen but the nice thing about 480p is that it's so common we have tons of shaders and overlays specifically for it. Makes the 40XXv a near-perfect travel device.
Having checked out my fren's 35XXH comparing to my 34XX-H the 480p isn't really that bad, I still prefer the higher reso and more vibrant screen on the 34XX but for retro games the 35XX's 480p is still good enough IMO
do you mean PSP go? 16:9 on the 477M screen is smaller than an OG PSP screen
I don't make the rules
Ewaste
The super sp authority has established
No integer scaling means ewaste
Very sad
The og PSP has a 4.3" screen.
tbh no one bought the pspgo for the eyebleed small screen
They got it because it was small af (but more like they didnt it sold pretty horribly afaik)
that's insane lol
I had to go grab my PSP and compare because my eyes are deceiving me
psp go was 3.8"
Lol that's another reason I called the RG slide the PSP Go XL. Literally a PSP screen size in PSP Go form fctor.
fun fact, the 406 screen integer scales psp and is the size of a psp go for 16:9 content
Man if we got a Slide with tbe 8300 I would probably get it. Its really hard to justify the price of the 477m or the slide when I have a a flip 2 though lol
You've made a mistake here psp is 30:17
Yum
Anyone debating this or the 557
Huh you're right. That means that it's bgger, not the same.
Nah, not sure if this website does that. Too lazy to find out š
Which site is this again, I forget.
3.2 inches
Display wars
Displaywars
I only remembered the 557 existed when I saw the specs of the 477. I think that says it all lol
lol
I make the rules

If it doesn't integer scale it's ewaste
GAMMA!
But I think it might work on the Slide/447 stock firmware
We'll be legion by the release of the super sp
Oh I'll have so many Google accounts

super sp when?
Soon
If anyone wants to try out Global BFI, I've got this as an overlay for non-gamma firmwares. Requires CPU to be set to high mode, and screen to be set to 120hz fixed.
Happy experimenting, this isn't a perfect solution but a cool Proof of Concept
back to bed I go
Wise sage is this ewaste
No my disciple, it is not
Thank you
They got back to meāapparently, they think "color saturation" means color temperature.
Yeah⦠totally the same thing. š
Pretty
sadly still no bootloader unlock, same issue as the 557
and confirmed, no root
man that lil ayaneo tho
Works somewhat on the 447m, nice playing with BFI on android games (trying sonic triple trouble 16 bit remake at the moment)
Yesss gamma os for micro classic soon
With GammaBFI enabled (can be toggled via setting prop debug.gammabfi = 1 / 0
A better comparison
People didn't get it because of the price, really. Too expensive at the time for "a PSP".
That's why I said playing psp on this screen, you have no loss of content whatsoever because it's literally the same size
š Is the @ANBERNIC RG477M the ultimate 4:3 retro handheld? In this first look, Zu dives into Anbernicās latest premium metal device just hours after unboxing it - and early returns are promising! With a 4.7ā 120Hz LTPS display, high-end CNC aluminum shell, and the power to handle everything from NES and GBA to Dreamcast, GameCube, and eve...
"just get an RP5 bro"
If you love wasted screen and black lateral bars while playing retro systems, be our guest and buy the RP5
already got the nice display with the SLIDE, maybe the grip I ordered will make it comfortable enough to actually use it
Breaking your legs just so you can use crutches is crazy
I mean using it as a fidget toy is still fun, but it's just not comfortable to hold at an angle that I would actually play it at
I think at this point you gotta capitulate and admit that not every new handheld that comes out is always gonna be worth buying lol
I mean, I wouldn't recommend the SLIDE to anyone, but heck, I still wanted one
but honestly the "SLIDE" I would want wouldn't slide out controls but a 2nd screen, still a lil mad the Ayaneo Slide has a stinky QWERTY keyboard instead
What's the next-most-recent anbernic metal handheld similar to the 477?
405m?
Is that still a decent device these days? For like, systems with aspect ratios that make sense
If you get it for cheap its still a decent device for what it does
Dang the 405M is really 8 years old. Man I feel old now
wtf are you talking about
2023 was 8 years ago?
What? No, it was released in March 28, 2023.
dude's been not okay lately
Like, there was the Retro Game which was November of 2017, but that very obviously is not the same type of handheld as the 405M or 477M.
Maybe the Super SP syndrome is contagious.
You guys really took the bait
this chat is for 18 and up kiddo.
You realize thereās a difference between bait and just saying something thatās wrong right?
I thought it was obvious but I guess notā¦
If thatās bait, then I could just lazily say āwhy is the Switch 2 already a thing, the Switch is too new for that, it hasnāt even been 4 years yetā and call that bait.
#š¹ārh-general is in slow mode. the adhd posters are spreading to other channels. just let it slide, dude

Fair enough on the messenger bit, I guess.
Nah people still believe Mangmi is gonna be $69 and will release next week
But you see that bait ended up being true
you know what will be releasing next weak for under 69, lol?
the e5 ultra.
Nah they are taking their sweet time rn and itāll be $90 min for global
Sub $100 is still impressive
Although if I really wanted to troll people, Iād just tell some Xbox fans ādonāt worry the Series S and X arenāt failures, they combined did almost as well as the N64ā.
Whaaaaaat? I've had a PSP1000 since launch and would have NEVER thought it to be 4:3.
That wouldnāt be a troll cuz itās true
Oh the output with the letterbox is the same as the original PSP?
Itās a troll because itās the truth, but said with malicious politeness.
But truth nonetheless
ehhh, I will pass $319 is excessive š

Yeah bit expensive for my taste. Will wait for sales
AliE Link too

The first ever AI console, incredible
I mean it's the 12gb model, but even at $279 it should be more like 250ā¬... and I doubt they properly vat it, yet it feels like they slap 50⬠on top for that + 20⬠shipping
damn, really overpriced, but Ali has vat included at least on the store page as the price is shown 253⬠for the 8/128 and 307⬠for the 12/256
Yeah unless a company uses 4px. This will get taxed coming into the UK
well, I will wait for it to get to a reasonable price point either way, 200⬠shouldn't be too unrealistic for the 8/128 SKU
Do as I do. Every time I buy a console that replaces another, I sell the previous one (after). That way doesn't seem so bad.
Wonder if Ampown site will stock, they seemed to have good deals on the Slide last time š
indeed they did, already checked but the rg477m ain't up there yet
neither on gogamegeek (which had shit prices for a while now anyway) nor keepretro
Have some patience š
no
Still more patient than @waxen ingot
are you mad??
ive been waiting for months!
is this ragebait?
And @south birch
What color ya'll thinking
the wise sage has been waiting all their life
they skipped the ds and 3ds because they were in a cave meditating on integer scaling gba
when they came out they realized the resolution they chose was insufficient
so they doubled it
beatiful story
Me and @fringe oasis meditated together in that cave
Iām just gonna go ahead and warn anyone unaware that we were already warned in advance what this would lead to.
Alts are gone
Yup, already knew when I watched the execution with my own eyes.
I'll get their souls to chat or smth when the super sp is announced
Video out confirmed, sweet
I really kinda hate the RGB sticks on this, they look awful with the metal
Especially the chocolate
sold out cool
Itās not for sale yet
Raaah super sp
The gunmetal RG405M was so gorgeous. Understated and refined in person. Every Anbernic since then has been a design downgrade
||excluding the ones designed by Nintendo of course||
Black, no questions asked. I've never seen a brown handheld look good. Nintendo came close with the DSi XL but that was also literally marketed to grandparents.
I'll be getting the silver as the lesser of two evils, but the buttons being colorful are such a mistake imo
You might be able to buy the black buttons separately and replace them yourself
Anbernic sells some parts if you message them iirc
if the alu is anodized like some custom keyboards are, then brown is a no go IMO, they always look kidna.... cheap...
It's just a bad color choice in general
Forgive the super sloppy phone edit but I just think this looks about a thousand times better already
Absolute L take regarding one of the most elegant-looking handhelds ever made.
It's elegant in pictures but if you play anything other than Brain Age on it it looks absolutely ridiculous. I agree that the DSi/XL in general is one of the best looking handhelds ever but the burgundy/brown is the weakest color of the bunch and the resale values support that
I literally own the bronze DSi XL and you are completely hallucinating.
If anything it looks better in-person.
The only complaint I have about the 477 is that the protective grip would look better if it was black. It would look better on the silver and bronze.
I literally own the white DSi LL and I am completely correct
All-white handhelds are offensively boring. It's like you're making a statement to the entire world that the spiciest thing you can handle is mayonaise.
Ok where do we get a replacement fan that is less noisy.
1588 RMB is the absolute lowest you can get the 8GB variant for
@compact osprey is this worth it at that price over say the Flip 2?
Flip 2 is like mid-1600s over here
How much is the Rp5? Lol
~1600
I do prefer the Anbernic screen aspect ratio though lol
Then definitely go for it
sounds good!
I play alot of 16:9 stuff on my 4 pro because it's 16:9 specifically lol
oh yeah I just don't play a lot of 16:9 stuff
Psp & Wii
good to know that I can deliberate between this and the E5Ultra lol, exciting times
And I use a Metric Poop ton of Wide-screen Hacks now
obviously different class of device but I'm not using every drop of power from the 477M for the games I play
Ps2 & GC with Wide-screen Hacks, HD textures, etc.
Plus Ship if Harkarina & all the Amdroid Ports make 16:9 my fav for all of that. Plus I have other 4:3 & 1:1 devices for my other needs on anything less than psp
I've always been objective about aspect ratios. In my mind the main reason for thinner aspect ratios to exist is for pocketability reasons.
If the system cannot play for psp library, 3:2 and thinner makes the most sense whatever the size is
Once I literally could not fit my 4 pro in my pocket.......I wanted it to perform like a Beast
Iove the Miyoo flip so much for this reason
it's so pocketable
reminds me of my phone during the pre-smartphone era
vetical handhelds do seem to excel in 4:3 and thinner aspect ratios generally when it comes to pocketability
a 16:9 vertical handhelds looks cursed and never pocketable
Even with horizontal handhelds I've done mesurements and it seems like you cannot really go bigger than 5 inches when it comes to 16:9 content. You can go taller but not wider. Theoretically the maximum screensize a pocketable horizontal can have is around a 3:2 5.2 inch screen. Although it depends on your pocket sizes. I've heard people only be able to fit a trimui brick in their pockets.
yeah some pockets are tiny
the image on Anbernic website is quite accurate for the colour
the light is coming from the top left
in darker lighting it will look like the right side of this image
@topaz ermine or anyone else, can you try dialing down the vibration on RetroArch (to 1 or so) to see if the noisy vibration motors are software fixable?
It won't be, vibrations are handled via Androids vibratorservice layer which has no concept of PWM type rumble effects (it only does off or on, with a specificed duration).
GammaOS fixes this and emulates proper PWM effects (you can try on the 556 for example, which has a terrible motor).
Wth was max zhou thinking when chosing this color?
I just went to the toilet #2 and it looked exactly like this
I've been poking at the 557 today, the shell script options in the UI don't run as proper root level due to SELinux enforcement, so we can't even dump partitions or run any binaries that require root :/
even though there is an anbernicsu binary in /system/bin/ it only runs under the android system context
forget about any apps that might let you set CPU governors etc, nothing will work here.
the 477M is a nice machine though, and that display is really good
I like it, just mindful that customization will be limited to what you can do in Android currently š
Thanks for your answer.
In my 406H I was able to dial down the rumble on Colin McRae Rally using RetroArch settings, although stock Android doesnāt offer any sensitivity adjustment.
Either that or a dreamt about it ā¦
People with ocd aint gonna buy it
Look at how uneven the screen is
Compared to
Bezels on the bottom
much better that the bezels on the rg34xxsp
I am gonna buy one and then livestream me spraying it black with metal paint. And i will only take the back cover off , easy. But i will spray it with the dpad, buttons still on it!
Why
These 2 colours are awful, the brown looks like š© and that silver is unfinished, just like russ said
Look how beautiful that 405m silver is.
Anbernic knows how to fuck up colours
Just paint it black or dark grey
Yeah I'm aware that Anbernic made it their mission to do the most atrocious colors
Death to Skittles buttons
black buttons would look infinitely better
Android vibratorservice API vs GammaOS driver
that's wild, wish they'd get smart & throw you some contract work or something lol
at least license your driver
not that whatever 3rd party puts their images together cares about licenses tho
3rd party can't spell anbernic properly in code
I thought for a moment that was an odin 2 running gammaOS lol
I see a lot of references to anbanic
lmfaooo
I used to have an Odin 2, I swapped it for a Pocket Air for development
most likely there was a reference in a file 10 years ago and nobody wants to poke the dragon
Since no root on this thing, I was searching for alternative ways
Probably there there are several ways to transliterate the Chinese characters to English. They are culturally isolated and even donāt care that the international way is āAnbernicā.

Youāre not objectively correct tho since best colour is subjective
The brown 477m color offered by anbernic doesnāt even look bad itās metallic so the brown shifts in grade depending on the angle. I think it looks better than the silver one which looks unfinished in a bad way. A gunmetal blue would be more ideal tho
Well in keeping with Anbernic screwing one thing up each release, hopefully this time itās just the metal finish.
The brown finish is nicer than the raw silver, but..,, itās effing brown.
im hoping for a plastic model
id buy an 8GB plastic one for that huge screen and d8300
they dropped the ball not having the 405M colors for this one, at least as extra options
ironically if this was just a regutted(working) ktr1, people would be -all over it-
I personally would want plastic 8gb, t820
if anbernic gave the cube less of a "butt" or even removeable cheeks, it would be that.
It doesnāt look like brown brown tho
Like stinky brown
It looks more like a shiny bronze finish
Like an Apple product
Ngl 405m is still better, 477m looks cheaper and it's sym
The finish on it looks a lot worse whatever way they did it
It's a throwback to the 350M silver imo.. which I loved.
But I'm still going to buy the brown
It think the finish looks better but I can see why some might not like it.
Do you guys think this color resin would make ok joystick caps for the brown unit? Thinkin of making some with this resin to release on http://www.hypestix.com but I'm super color blind and not sure they would match well/
Probably going to need to make some to see.
but why?
does it not match
or just because it's brown?
or is it more red than I can see?
Until you can hold that color up against the shell you won't know if it really matches or not
It'll look great if it's a match, otherwise it'll be an eyesore lol
I think lighting for the silver matters. It actually doesn't look that bad in person. If anything hate the skittles buttons on the silver which takes away from it.
I personally hate skittle buttons on almost everything. I don't think they ever match the device
100% Agree š
Yeah the buttons are the biggest factor I want the brown to be honest.
and Anbernic ALWAYS uses it in the wrong way
I'd much rather have abxy match the other buttons and dpad lol
Those Nova sticks do look nice.
see if the d8300 can play halo 1, RTD
There's a pretty cool Discord user here that makes them
should be easy to drop into winlator mali.
My question is.. did Anbernic put one of the joysticks in at 90 degrees different than the other one..the shafts look like that inside the picture you posted of the sticks.
I've been messing with the latest Winlator because of Vortek but I can mess around with that as well
i only suggest it because it is one of the few pc 6th gen games too much for the t820 and t618
so far what I've found is that if it works with the D8300 then it works REALLY well
the power is definitely there
nm I think it's just how the pic looks
I wouldn't put it past Anbernic to do something weird like that though.
i thought tron 2.0 would be too much for t820, but it locks 60 for most parts of the game i've played so far on normal graphics. would be beautiful on this with all graphics cranked to max
I'm just a sucker for the metal variants
I wonder if it's us old guys that love the Skittles buttons?
I remember when I first saw the Super Famicom on an issue of EGM. Retro heart flutters.
Yeah, and I was very disappointed when I saw that our version had that purple coloring! But the four colors have still become iconic for retro gaming fans. Original Xbox, Neo Geo, SNES in many places, etc.
3rd party snes controllers often had skittles in the US
the ascii pad being one of the most popular
Amazing work
well, US were the only ones without skittles, so why would 3rd parties bother to make a different version for ya guys
Yum
Poll Time
Yes
why are they always drunk making these devices
yup, I can confirm mine is like that as well
Not at all with the caps on
it's only noticeable because I'm using transparent caps
it's a non-issue
just hilarious
So far my main two issues with the device is the fan and the wake the dead shoulder button clicks
the fan is insane
Yea that sucks forsure. Especially cause youre gonna need it for a metal device
It wonāt let you turn fan off or use custom curve in high performance mode so you have to accept the noise if youāre pushing the performance
Yes, this is driving me insane
It doesnāt really need to be turned way up like that when in high performance mode
Time to open it and unplug fan
. how long to burn my fingers
I noticed it spins up even when installing apps. "WHIRRR-WHiirrr-whirrrr-whiirr....off"
Once you remove the backplate (4 screws), the fan connector is actually under a sticker and easy to remove (and a PITA to plug back in)
Maybe Iāll do that for my review and see how hot it gets heh
I'll see if there is any override
Maybe a root script can be run?
they removed root on latest firmwares
oooh interesting I have some additional options on my fan settings
DIdn't they patch that out in an update because a bunch of Android games wouldn't run? Chinese market loves its gachas, after all.
Possible
yeah can disable the fan in normal performance mode
leave the hardware alone, we just need to fix the fan curve... why can't Anbernic not fuck up for once
just decompiled their firmware, we can force the fan off in high mode via adb:
adb shell settings put system fan_mode 0
Gamma to the rescue
Nice
When I get back home maybe Iāll see if I can do some stress test benchmarks and see how different fan modes affect throttling (or not)
Heck, on my RG557 Wild Life Extreme Stress won't even complete unless the fan is set to "strong". (I should add ... when cpu is set to "high")
That doesnāt bode well lol
I see you've found footage of what it's like inside an RG557 ... š
but now I want a teardown to see if it's dumb luck or a real thought out decision they made to put it like that?
and did they have to ( we won't know without source ) do some wonky programming to make that work?
... so i'm curious to see what the RG477M does under really heavy loads. Not curious enough to BUY one (since I already have a 557), mind you, but if one of y'all who got a free one could see if we can grill tiny steaks on it while running 3DMark benchmarks ... š„©
ABSOLUTE LEGEND
now we just need custom fan curves and we're golden
possibly the way the cable connects to the board
Gamma saved android for Anbernic on the 505 and continues to be the man the myth and the LEGEND
Is this reboot persistent?
no, the original logic kicks back in on reboot
OK. Probably not even performance mode is persistent
fwiw, I am in contact with Anbernic and trying to get them to fix this in an update.
at least give us the custom curve option
BTW that Custom setting in the fan settings only lets you set a constant speed between 0-255 via adb:
# Pick a speed between 0 and 255 (e.g. 200)
adb shell settings put system KEY_FAN_SPEED 200
# Tell the 477M to go into āCustomā mode (mode index 4)
adb shell settings put system fan_mode 4
# Then close and open the quick settings again, the custom speed will be applied
the fan mode override isn't persistent even on sleep/resume too
Iām thinking the lowest fan setting is probably quiet enough and still sufficient for most retro gaming - but someone correct me if Iām wrong.
Neither.
Then it wouldn't be the Cube..
it's the cube because of the square screen, not because of the grips
I used to have a Powkiddy RGB30 (1:1), but I ended up stretching most retro systems because I donāt like wasted screen space. Honestly, that was kind of silly ā what I really needed was a 4:3 display. So I switched to the 406H.
Unfortunately, the 406H is the bulkiest handheld Iāve ever owned - and itās even worse with the analog sticks sticking out.
To have full sticks or not have full sticks, that's the question for a pocketable Android gaming handheld.
i wonder if replacing the fan with a higher quality one would suffice

Zu's impressions: https://youtu.be/ouOUSR8Ai0A
š Rob, Andrew, Ban and Stubbs test out the Bronze and Silver RG477M Anbernic android handheld. Is this as premium as the price implies? Let's find out!
The RG477M will go on sale at 3am PST on August 2nd. Early bird prices will be $220 and $270 for the 8 and 12 GB models respectively, and then they will jump up to $240 and $290 after the fir...
š Is the @ANBERNIC RG477M the ultimate 4:3 retro handheld? In this first look, Zu dives into Anbernicās latest premium metal device just hours after unboxing it - and early returns are promising! With a 4.7ā 120Hz LTPS display, high-end CNC aluminum shell, and the power to handle everything from NES and GBA to Dreamcast, GameCube, and eve...
Since they used the taller sticksI really wished they flared the shoulders and used stacked buttons, I can live with inline on a budget handheld but doesnāt make much sense for something that isnāt that pocketable to begin with
don't think this is meant to be a pocketable handheld tbh
it's definitely the size of a small stash bag
Wonder how hard it would be to put the rg557 sticks in this
I remember in the early days I'd message Max zou (spelling) by emailing him directly and he'd reply a bunch but not in recent years lol. I emailed their support a bunch since whenever I try to help them discover bugs
Anbernic: "Let's make our flagship huge handheld have tiny sticks, and let's make the one that's supposed to be close to pocketable have the large sticks. Take that, consumers!"
I did a thing. Won't say much else as I don't want this to be patched by MTK
A few hours until shipping officially starts and Gamma has already rooted it. I'd say that's a new world record š
Nice to see GammaRGB working on this
Nice, I love it on my 406V, too
A few hours?
Okay now that's pretty damn sick
oh wait this is upcoming > 477m. not upcoming-chat. deleting that stuff

I really like the in-line shoulder buttons. It drives me crazy that EVERY premium device and MOST of the budget horizontals have stacked shoulders and it's not enough for some a y'all.
It's okay if every single device isn't catered specifically to your tastes.
You donāt want to disable the fan and melt it. You want to replace the fan with one that is less noisy at full load. Even if itās pushing half the air volume. Not sure what sort of easily available options there are for that size.
I donāt hate the inline. Just wish they werenāt so clicky
Remember the RGB30? Same vertical height as the 447 with inline buttons. That brick was the comfiest handheld I ever used.
It was also the one that died on me the quickest

Beside the point. š
It was my point
What does it dying have to do with the buttons being inline?

I like the inline shoulders, just wish the sticks weren't so long
That's my only major complaint with the design tbh
okay I caught up to reviews, honestly it looks like a great handheld, just wish it wasn't a metal brick
Honestly, the real issue is when you get up to GameCube and ps2, you really want the triggers to be analog, and in line doesnāt really have the room to do that? But yeah, if theyāre digital, in line, and only stacked if itās gonna be analog triggers.
PS2 did not have analog triggers, only Gamecube used them for some games like Super Mario Sunshine
Ps2 does not have analog "triggers", but they have pressure sensitive buttons for almost every button (including l2/r2) which is analog.
Wow, I've played a lot of PS2 but I had no idea lol! What games made use of that?
Oh man I'll never be able to emulate PS2 if that's so
I think the usual racing games or games with vehicles etc. Others not so much, or at least not as significant/unbypassable.
Remember the bouncers using it quite extensively (for the attacks etc) , star ocean 3 there is a part where you have to play some flute you need them as well (have to use the pressure modifier function/hotkey in emulator to get around that and/or bind to analog triggers).
I definitely don't know the dpad is pressure sensitive until I search on the web, don't know how it's used in games if any at all.
THIS
every new device "why isn't this just the RP5 again"
Just get a steam deck
Just get a RG Slide.
I don't play a lot of racing games and I never liked the feel of analog triggers. Definitely prefer inline triggers for portability
š¼ļø Gallery: 3 Images
Just got my replacement RG Slide after the first one had a delaminated screen, and the second one is exactly the same! Haven't even had the chance to send the first one back yet, so I took a side-by-side as proof while I still have them both. I'm kinda over it at this point.

Ah, Anbernic Quality Control and customer support continue to be the same as usual.
ah, he ordered both from amazon
probably a dropped box of them in the warehouse or something lol
does anyone actually run that filter that retro handhelds has on his 477m video
How is this even a suggestion on the same level rg slop isn't comparable to high quality stuff
I would absolutely do the better button mod from the 405m on this though if they make it
Last time I checked, the RG477M is a RG device.
Ya it's slop tol
Other recs included rp5šššššššš
And steam deckšššššššš
You're the annoying part of giving some new devices a change.
Huh
Oh it's metal
Nvm
Oh but it's android
And it's powerful
But it's mediatek
Ngl ewaste
If not for ps2
Eh, you'll play PS2 games fine on it.
How big is this compared to an rpmini?
Kinda tempted to sell one to buy the other, love the big screen and bfi
One reason I went with the rpmini was for shmups which gives 3.2ā while this gives 3.5ā
If you care mainly about vertical shmups, buy this for the biggest screen in the "pocketable" universe or buy the RP mini v2 for the best screen size to side bezels ratio
The black RP mini also has a really nice "magic screen" effect and bezels effectively completely disappear
The RP mini has buttcheeks and better triggers; the 477m has arguably the best sleekness to performance ratio ever
There's also a comparison here https://www.youtube.com/live/9_odLU3y5Yg?t=4401&si=96H8bO2oDune4Uio
š Rob, Andrew, and Stubbs test out the Bronze and Silver RG477M Anbernic android handheld. Everything here is covered from specs to gameplay, video out, fan...
I currently have the black v2
Which I love but is possibly a tiny bit too small for me, which the 477 may fix. Even if not as ergonomic
Dude it's more powerful than the RP5 for PS2
Thinking more about classic shmups, this devices size and shape might be pretty comfortable to hold rotated 90 degrees and use all the 4.7 inch screen with bfi š
Careful you're going to bring in the snapdragon army with that talk š
Lol
I have previously owned the RP5 and now the Odin Portal
So I should be bashing this device along with them but I'm giving my praises rn
I think someone on Reddit has personally DM one of the staff and said a plastic version of this will come out in Oct
Hopefully gonna be sooner tho
ehhh, I mean... can we really wait till October to purchase this
When asked if there will be a plastic version of the 477M, Max Zhou said "No." But of course, we can't take everything he says at face value
They should do the 407H with this screen and chipset to please everyone.
V please
it would be 477H or V tho and no we ain't getting a 477H or 477P, they didn't do it for the 405m either
i would get the 477v
When you play GBA at 3:2 without integer scaling, the active area is 4.52", which is similar to the KTR1 or Pocket Ace
Lovely
KTR1 and Pocket ACE also don't integer scale at 4.5", it's a 4.5x upscale at that point
This is truly the ideal screen size for a retro handheld
ideal, no, but best we have at the moment
a 1920x1440p screen would integer scale everything
you literally would get an 8x GBA integer scale at 4.5" on an 4.7" 1920x1440p panel
rg47xxh
oh yeah an increased resolution of course but I think 4.7 for size is where its at
kinda weird choice to do 4.7" instead of 4.5", but I ain't complaining
so beautiful. I call it, Roman Armor Bronze or Steam Punk Copper
Ktr1 looks brilliant , black with no bezels , just wow š³
Look how clean compared to that silver black skitties mess
Some just call it š© brown
RGB30 gives you 3.5ā of vertical 3:4 arcade and is super pocketable fwiw
Feels super cheap, also is super cheap
It does look very steam punk
This should be pinned ! Time will tell
It is ok Max, you donāt have to make a plastic 4,7 inch 4:3 handheld.
Retroid will do it for us. Soon.
Paid by a mortgaged house.
which im still unconvinced whether they are just bullshitting on the mortgaged claim š
I wonder if they're going to do a 477V - or if they skip it for the RG Slide
it would certainly be a chonker
After the TrimUI Brick we'll get the RG Sh*thouse
I'm not sure if I even would buy a 477V, it would be interesting for sure, but at that size there would be lil sense to it IMO
I sure hope they do 477V
It would surely be a challenge for the design people
Just scale the cad file for the 406V up a little bit and call it a day
that looks just like my dsi xl
Only the x and y coordinates please :p
lets do 10000mAh
36 hours of non stop NES
with GammaOS 72hours
The dream
you know what, let's do 15000mAh so we can do full 100hours NES on GammaOS
Now youāre speaking my language
If youāre seeing this Max Zhou or one of your spies, please take notes
rg477v, more powerbank than handheld
My powerbank is only 10000mAh
that sucks, but of course the rg477m is launching just now, he would not want to lose sales by saying another version is coming
Next generation for sure
Does it play PS2?
imagine the 407H, plastic, lighter weight, ergonomic humps, stacked shoulder buttons, with this screen and chipset
it would be then endgame device for a lot
I would buy it too
rejected, stick on top, shield d-pad, ergos... š¤¢
hmm actually it wouldnt be pocketable so i would prefer it metal too and i'd want stick on bottom
There is never a console that satisfies everyone.
If you want 4:3, they already have the 406V, the 406H and now the 477M.
They will probably not release anything else 4:3 for a year.
they totally will
the panel ain't making money by itself
477V or 477H may entirely possible, more 4:3 device are also more likely than another 16:9
but I think we might get to see a Dual Screen with the 4.7" as the bottom panel
Hell yeah
kinda would be nice with something like the Pocket Fit screen at the top 6" 1080p high refresh rate
You might as well integer scale, you're only losing .3 inches. Really good GBA screen,
Well.. Losing 0.3 inches is kinda personal preference tbh
very high ppi
I think you could argue interpolation might be a better choice
Ahh, see, but right now I play GBA on my 40XXv, so from my perspective I'm actually gaining .2 inches. š
On 720p+ screens that integer scale talk makes almost no sense.
Besides, we have incredible shaders like sharp-shimerless that fixes everything
Lmao, rg40xxv doesn't integerscale gba AT ALL
You're right on the first part, people are hella fickle.
I mean, I get it but some of the times.
Some are bored with this feature, some long for that feature.
Other folks would give less of a damn about other features.
One 4:3 for ergo lovers one for slim lovers One 16:9 for ergo lovers one for slim lovers and one vertical and one clamshell
Calm down, nobody said it did. I should have said, "...extra 0.2 inches AND integer scaled", but I foolishly assumed people would get that and that I didn't need to be that precise on here.
...and one handheld to ruled them all, one handheld to find them, one handheld to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.
Ehh.
I assumed you would understand my non-serious tone of voice since I wrote "lmao"
I love the Steam Deck, I believe in a 2 devices solution. A PC handheld and a good pocket retro companion
I'm shoving that 477m in my pants
We need snapdragon
And a Vita, And a 3DS, DS
Acceptable if the top is 960p as well, it would integer scale 3ds and a variety of other systems
It's not 1440p I'm unbound
but the 3DS can do DS
Yeah but it's not integerscaled. It looks especially blurry on a 240p display
I honestly would rather see a 16:9 6" 1080p 120hz panel for the top, two of the same screens would fix it into being a DS only device once again
yeah I have read there is some argument to run DS best on a DSi or something
pretty sure I already said the Pocket Fit screen would work well
I'm not gonna say the dsi xl is the best way to play ds games but currently unfortunately it is the best way to play them pocketably
dpad on top, integer scaled ds, pocketable formfactor
unless you dont mind pressing a button to swap screens
Who told u have to do that?
oh wait
ur not talking to me
are u
no I mean you can do that and emulate on another pocketable device
I prefer the normal DSi tbh
nvm absolutely not
I mean, we could go with the Pocket S2 screen too
no they have to be the same
why?
upscaling
also 3DS has a 5:3 top panel, so what would be the point aside from having a perfect DS
Yeah, it's personal preference, dsi xl: biggest screen in a pocketable formfactor
dsi: higher pixel density, more pocket friendly
dsi lite: support for gba expansion slots
find me a 5:3 960p
1600x960
yup gimme
at 5.5" to match the 4.7" bottom panel
mini super sp
that suffices i believe
definitely a top pic for the mini sp
but even harder to get than 1440p
I hope this screen ends up being profitable for Anbernic because they might make others.
5.5" 5x3 screen would be amazing.
at least 1440p is like an actual resoltuion
rg552
they seem to be doing well at the pace they release devices
lets do 1680x960 at least, so we have space for 16:9 content
When do this go on sale? Tuesday?
Great in concept, not so in execution. I wouldn't mind today's Anbernic giving it another try with an SD chip.
the issue with that is 960p has no real 16:9
one of the great tragedies
pretty weak
Saturday morning 6am EST
that's why I would compromise with a 1080p panel, which also scales PSP better
What's weak, a Snapdragon chip?
Swap rpmini for this !?!?
I personally would but its up to you
if you are okay with metal, maybe
going OLED -> IPS is also going to be noticeable, though perhaps not as much as the increase in screen size
all things being equal I'd probably take a larger screen over OLED (but would rather have both ofc)
if you had issues finding your rp mini to be too chunky or the screen not big enough this should be a pretty good upgrade
Is the rp mini even pocketable?
It's like 32mm thick
No whatever is in the 552
I don't compromise
Super SP or nothkng
in reviews I've seen they say it is
Well, good luck in 40 years then
i dislike its aesthetics, the glossy glass full front the weird screen ratio it has
Unfortunately oled 4:3 displays do not exist, so this is as close as it gets
u can just pretent it's a 3.7 inch oled
like what retroid originally did
lol
only at the ergo bumps, it's no less pocketable than a couple smartphones glued together
I would put it in the same bracket as the rg35xxh in terms of pocketability
which is to say pretty good
The oled on rpmini is great but after having amoled mobiles for a while it doesnāt feel as special.
How good is BFI? Very intrigued by that and the large screen as I mostly emulate 4:3 systems
I have yet to try BFI but yeah that big screen and the devices good looks are my main attraction
also it can handle the 6th gens well, my current device is the RG406H and it struggles with some games there
BFI is kinda polarizing ... if flicker annoys you, you might hate it. There's also the reduction in brightness.
the rg35xxh doesn't have any ergonomic bumbs, triggers or protruding sticks
I just presumed it wasnāt noticeable?
Any flicker, I donāt know what flickers to know if it would annoy me š¤£
To some people it isn't noticeable, to some it is. You will probably have to try it and see which kind you are.
It's not that hard to set up in Retroarch (well, no harder than anything else is) on any device that has an appropriate screen.
the silver looks good in some lighting and unfinished in others
Oh wow that's bar
Bad
maybe Russ got a pre-production unit?
anyway, I would go with the copper colorway anyway
I've seen other channels mention the raw material of the silver so its not just Russ but yeah copper is the way to go
Poopy bronze
Just looks like metallic poop
Roman Armor Bronze
Yall just call any shade of brown poop
Brown is a decisive color variant.
I think it looks good and you're just salty we didn't get enough color options
I mean, sliver is fine to me.
280p Terracotta pottery video.
lol I'm not hating on the silver, its been said it looks good in person
Oh I believe it.
The silver RG477M would be a nice device to see it reflect some of the sun's rays.
At least from within the window.
Were you playing Desert Bus?
correct, but as someone who has both, I can tell you that the protruding bits of the RP Mini are very, very minimal, it doesn't make a meaningful difference in pocketability to me
Well my n3dsxl in my jeans already feels kinda thick with being like 20mms so I' not sure how well a 30mm device woukd fit
I've never had protruding bits interfere with fitting in my pants
I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for tight jeans but honestly I wouldn't pocket a handheld with tight jeans at all
ayy lmao
I think I just have large pants
The sticks on my handheld stick out pretty far
Few inches
I mean single stick
see, the joke was good until you kept going
in general pocketability for me is more about winter jackets or loose pockets (or just backpacks) a very tight pocket I don't think I'd want to put a handheld in there
in that regard a few cm of protruding sticks or triggers doesn't kill it for me, as long as it's not too egregious
My jeans fit an rp5 according to the 3d printed xu40
It fits my vita, new 3ds xl and dsi xl just fine
jeans aren't that bad
and they are thight which means your device wont slip out
Where to get the lower profile stick caps?
Looking for lower profile sticks too for better pocketability and I think the brown metal with black buttons looks super nice. Gives it that old-school, premium Neo Geo vibe.
Itās only since retro handhelds became a thing that Im able to actually play neo-geo games.
Previously just drooled over them in magazines in the 90ās
Yeah they were super expensive and used to envy over all those SNES games we wouldnāt get in Europe.
Yeah I remember each game costing as much as a SNES or Megadrive itself.
The sticks are the same as the ayn/retroid sticks
So if you find low profile caps for those, they will work on here
Prob etsy or aliexpress
Maybe amazon
Neo Geo only has about 150 games, but the quality is very very high. Putting aside the amazing fighting games, there is heaps of other great games on it no one talks about.
MALI CUSTOM DRIVERS
!!!!!!!!!!
Game hub has talked with mediatek
Once they extract it from gamehub Mali will be usable
thats pretty cool
pretty cool?
this instantly akes this device much more viable for switch winlator and ps2 and gc
I wonder how long it will take til we see the drivers.
I realized that what I hated about the chocolate so much was the white bases of the (needlessly) RGB analog sticks. Those blend in on the silver model but stick out like a sore thumb.
Frankly I don't think the RGB sticks look good on either of these. Ironically, they make the RP5 look more premium while they make this look cheaper.
Just get the rp5 bro
I love the RGB30 but it is the only handheld I have ever owned that literally cannot be turned off. The battery/power issues on that thing are an even more critical issue than the hinge issues that some clamshells have
lol, just turn it off
then wait for it to charge for a hot minute before you turn it on again
The power drain issues are why I sold it in favor of an XXCube, but having the cube in my hand I kinda want the RGB30 again. Stacked shoulders and ergo grips on something meant for Game Boy...
Which would you rather own?
EXACTLY. It missed the entire point. It's why I was so happy the RP Classic didn't do analog sticks at all
I'm honestly thinking the right shade of green would complete the steampunk look to it.
The orange glow looks nice and cozy with the brown so I might just keep it with that.
I agree wholeheartedly I first noticed this on the 406H the white thumb sticks looks fine on the white version of course but kinda hurts ruins the look of the black and purple. But Anbernic insists on these white RGB sticks that protrude too far. I don't think its that bad here but it couldve done without them.
out already
yeah at least it looks nice when some color is added
that's why someone needs to convince @molten tiger to do the 1:1 with touch he teased and doesn't want to make reality
I wanna see it with some Martian green now.
rather own this
Because if there's one thing we have absolutely never seen before it's an all-black handheld.
I wear more black irl than Jonny Cash and even I'm kinda sick of it. Props to any retro handheld maker that gives us something different.
True. Its good to have a different flavor once in awhile, I'm glad the option to just go all black isn't there
Gimme 477M with opalescent shine
damn that looks better š
I would already be content with the RGB rings not being so white when turned off
looks kinda off on the copper color
that actually would be fire
You could take the raw shell to an anodizer and get it dipped in that color.
Bring back the 353M purple.
Was going to suggest this for the silver one
i'd take this any day over the brown bronze...it's an ugly color, on any product...ever
I've been enjoying playing 4:3 content on this, it looks fantastic
Itās great for that. Just⦠if I actually had to pay for it I dont think Iād spend that price.

I donāt hate the bronze
