#Ayaneo Pocket Ace
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
Stick caps shouldn't be too hard to replace, or at least that's my hope
I know they're easy to remove, if nothing else
I was hoping that Aya might include bigger caps with the device, but it seems unlikely because of them doubling down on the small ones
Probably should be able to 3d print or find some online that work well
Need to ask
Are the sticks themselves technically the same as the Pocket Evo's?
Just with different caps
Because you can buy caps for the Pocket Evo
Double checked
They are absolutely not the same stick lol
Oh wait
Pocket Micro and DMG can use the same caps
And the Ace has the same sticks as the DMG's
Meaning that Switch style Gulikit caps should fit no problem
Here we go
I can't be the only one who read the name of the white color as "Lightbleed white"
They should start selling bigger caps you can take entirely off like the Legion Go and just pop off and replace for people that want a bigger surface area
I could be mistaken but I was under the impression that these sticks do just pop off
Got confirmation that they do
You already can on the Micro (which I have and swapped with black GuliKit stick tops from my original AYANEO Pocket Air), and itâs the same with the DMG sticks (which I donât have, but I have enough Retroid and Odin 2 devices that can do the same, and people have verified theyâre the same).
I might just swap the caps with the ones on my MagicX tbh
So hopefully the Ace will use the same sticks as the DMG so that we can also swap the sticks on it.
Nice , havenât bought a Aya Android anything yet so this would be my first thats not a PC from them
But does that include the entire stem too or just the tops ?
I like my sticks a bit taller and with range , I wanted to like my RG 556 but the sticks were pretty terrible not only being short and tiny but with no range
You can also consider reaching out to some Etsy sellers to inquire if they would be interested in making full-size sticks for Pocket Ace
True but but Etsy can also be hit or miss
This is pretty good: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1809118677/ultrafine-textured-finished-full-size , never hurt to ask them
Entire stem, since thatâs whatâs used to keep the stick in place.
Youâve basically got the stem acting as a socket where you insert the actual pivot-point stick into, so it ensures youâre not just relying on a tiny connection point.
Ayaneo's recent sticks have had a lot of range because they're barely recessed
So no reason to worry over stick height
Pocket DMG has a lot of range
The cap is just tiny
Only issue with that is you canât decrease the stick height lower than that inner-stick, you can only make it taller.
Thanks for the info guys , now the only thing to wait for us asking price, I really think this will be Ayaâs biggest seller yet if they donât go crazy on price
Apparently this is gonna be the last GX3 Gen 2 device they make?
Yeah, thatâs why Iâm thinking they might legit sell it for cheaper than usual, assuming they just want to get rid of their remaining unused stock of the chip.
Their later GX3 Gen 2 devices have also just been cheaper anyway
Pocket Evo is a lot cheaper than Pocket S, for example
Think they're DMG. Which everyone loved. Thought EVO was different
Oh. You answered yourself
Sorry
Yeah I didn't know if Evo was the same type of stick as DMG
On the DMG you can make it shorter. By just designing caps where the stick goes further into the actual thumb dishes head. Don't think anyone has done it. But you could probably shorten it by 2-3mm
Not sure how comfortable that'd be either tho
Honestly I might find it a bit more comfortable that way
Your thumb won't have to reach as far to get on top of the stick
I'll take a look and see if I can do it on my DMG this week like there's def a couple mm of material inside the cap cavity that could be removed. Just not sure if that'd throw the whole axis feel off. Would basically become like short throw sticks
I think MagicX's caps are very short
But I don't have mine on-hand
Lent it to a friend
Exactly, Iâm talking about the fact you canât make it shorter than the actual inner stick, but you can make it taller without issue.
You can make the replacement stick shorter than the stock one, but it would have to still be tall enough for the inner stick to fit properly.
Also god, I hate that I canât remember what that particular component is called, since it would make talking about this stuff much easier if I could call it something other than âinner stickâ.
I mean I guess you could clip inner stick đ
I think the bigger issue is that there's no bowl underneath. So depending on how wide you want the dish to be, your gonna be limited by by hitting the front of the case I'd you get too much shorter
Like with the stock DMG dish, you could get 1 extra mm shorter. Replacing it with a nub, you could shorten it 2-3 mm
Yup, but at least with the videos weâve currently seen, it looks like it might stick out enough to make smaller low profile sticks work (they wouldnât be as comfortable as stock sticks though).
Yeah. Stinks they didn't just recess it. But that seems to be the style they're shooting for
It would be neat if they actually took that into account by making the inner stick itself shorter, and then provided alternate stick tops that were shorter and smaller, or some that were actually taller (like the more advanced Xbox controllers that make it so you can swap taller or shorter sticks into the controller by twisting them off).
this console reminds me of the RP2S in a good way
but I wonder, is the d-pad the same as on the their pocket micro?
Hard to say
Ayaneo don't seem to stick to one type of D-pad like Retroid and Ayn do
Visually, it looks the same as the D-pad on the Ayaneo 2 and Pocket Evo
Russ found diagonals on those to be too sensitive
But hopefully it's better
Does this thing have a headphone jack?
Hmmm. Think it's new dpad. Cause why not đ. It has no arrows like micro. Isn't as rounded as Evo. And isn't segmented like 2
Nay
One of the main drawbacks of it
You're right huh
Evo's D-pad is rounder
Closest it resembles is the micro/classic. Could just be that they didn't do arrow imprint
Or that it'll be on the final and not proto
Russ has a great track record for putting out reviews before the early bird period ends at least
Still feel like my fav dpad was the cube. But could be that the ergos just save it
So I don't have to pre-order before knowing if it passes the Contra test
Or if it's hadokenable or shoryukenable
Yeah. It's probably fine. Haha
Cube was the disc, right?
Yeah
My current controller has a disc D-pad and it's really good
Vader 3 Pro
Ig people are always put off by disc D-pads because of the 360 as well as the fact that most of them didn't grow up with a Saturn
Yeah. I really like the Vader. Honestly discs have just always given me the best feel of 360° movement on a dpad
Any top downs or fighting games I just really like them on
I can use button dpads. But they aren't my favorite
I expect it to be more functional than the Joy-Con "D-pad" at least lol
Yeah, I thought of the GP2X too when I first saw it, heh
This is the lowest the cap can go
Yeah. Basically what I expected. Low profiles can be fun tho
Thats ridiculous looking I love it
Lol, are those pimples? đ
Dual nipple mod
hot
Yeah. The etchless concave/convex buttons are sick. Not mine btw đ. Tho I am printing some now for mine
I wish more companies would explore sliders for devices where analog sticks are not meant as the primary input method
Especially devices pitched as pocketable
This does also have triggers so thatâs also a hit against pocketing it
inline analogue triggers, that's a new one
Nuh uh
I've seen people wish for all sorts of outlandish things but inline analogue triggers definitely take the cake
Was about to say. It's not like the technology couldn't exist. Lol
Also doesn't shock me that Nintendo did it. Will always admire their efforts
Def way more outlandish shit has been wished for, especially by me
The actual analogue function went totally unused unfortunately
I still don't get why they didn't let you use that controller for GameCube games
Haha sounds about right. They always create amazing hardware that is only barely taken advantage of
I mean I get it. PlayStation and Xbox tend to create little incentive to implement it
But I loved the first party main line titles that took advantage of it
From what I understand the Wii did complete hardware emulation of the GameCube and things like Classic Controller support would require some sort of additional software layer which would have, in turn, impacted GameCube performance. It's the same reason why (IIRC) you can't use the Home button to exit GC games
These were literally the worst analogue triggers ever made though. I threw up in my mouth a bit remembering how those felt
As a proof of concept they exist tho
True
They're effectively the same triggers that GameCube has
Well it was just an over clocked GameCube

IGG Pre-lau...
I like that it got a Chin and it is for button and front firing speakers.
Just my own opinion but think this is the best looking and designed Android handheld from AYA so far , compact , powerful and great screen ..... personally think it looks better than the DMG
I fear this is going to be too close to the RP5 in size to justify its existence
maybe if it had been stick top
What if this ends being 200$
This is only gonna be a bit bigger than the RP Mini actually
Well and if in us multiply by 150%
At that point I'm probably out. But I'll live vicariously through my foreign handheld friends
Well hopefully it launches and ships before tariffs go into effect
But no prices yet is a bit of a knock on that notion
I mean price reveals are an indicator of it being close to launch
Oh yeah. Totally
Like, preorders are already open by the time Russ has a video out on these devices, and that's generally a month before the official release
To be fair it might go up in price anyway. Tarrifs hurt everyone. Even if it's all sourced inside China, it still increases costs of transport and other stuff
Also just thinking about it. Official release in a month won't make the cut anyway. So id assume we'll just have to pay the 50% extra on whatever they price it at in the US at least
glass front why
To annoy you in particular
The used Market should get on fire soon and anybody that has collected quite a few of these should be able to sell their used devices to make up the difference to buy something newer like this that's why I'm scooping up all the deals I can get right now
Tariffs are actually doing everyone a favor by making things slightly more expensive , now people can second guess purchases they really donât need and reduce E-Waste .

any news on when they will reveal the price?
Nay
I'll get an email for when their Indiegogo gets updated though
I'd probably give it another month?
Ayaneo's track record is usually announcing a device, prices being unveiled a month later with preorders opening, and then the actual device releases about half a year after the initial announcement
That's how it's been for most of their last few devices
Ayaneo Pocket Classic is the one exception
It released only a couple weeks after announcement, but the Pocket Classic is barely a new device, being a Pocket Micro without sticks
Died 2024
Born 2025
Welcome back rp2s
The only thing I don't like about anyone is their dpad has no texture.
Time to break out the sandpaper
Just apply a couple of small grip tape cutouts
oh so it wasn't just the DMG
yeah, the dpad on the DMG is weirdly smooth, no texture or grippiness at all
it's not a deal breaker but not the best dpad out there feel wise
Just got my ace delivered
Canât be the ace, that handheld knows how to recess sticks and maybe even works with headphones
Yeah I think the people at Ayaneo probably just find recessed sticks to be ugly
Or at least not as nice looking as non-recessed sticks
the sticks on the ace being non-recessed and tiny look like skin tags on an old dog
Honestly so hard to say these days. Need a YouTuber to just 3D print like 30 shapes and test them out with multiple people. Lol
The retro handheld truly knows you
i remember calling the rp5 a death knell for the ktr1 but if this is priced under $500 it is the hangman
by the time the rp5 came out the ktr1 was already long dead
oh sorry i actually said that for the Ayaneo Micro
because it was a 3:2 running the same chip albeit weird
but i agree with you, the r1 was probably dead by then too
If it's $350 or less I'm buying it
Can you cancel IGG orders before they ship?
yes
Needs to be under $300 for me to buy and it has nothing to do with the actual price if that makes sense , the Switch 2 is around the corner and with enough handhelds already and not enough hands It needs to make sense with the value proposition as I only have limited time for gaming these days , time is money and I never have enough time
It looks like a worse odin 2 mini from Ayaneo, so yeah, I think it should be priced at around $300 as well. But knowing Ayaneo we can't really expect a good price on it.
I've heard the Odin 2 Mini screen really isn't that nice
The chipset will drive the cost higher, I imagine it will be close to the DMG in price, probably more because ayaneo
It gets a bad rap, itâs honestly fine when you donât have someone telling you itâs trash. It isnât OLED but itâs a sharp nice screen
Thatâs fair, but it has an extra stick,
And we know from the pocket classic vs micro that they charge at least $10 each for those

Honestly the extra stick might bring the price down
Since DMG has that fancy touch pad
Thatâs fair, if itâs under 300 I might be interested, but I doubt it
Well just have to see ig
I'm expecting about $310 for the early bird price
Apparently this is Ayaneo's last device with this chipset, so it might be a bit lower
mini led should still be better than lcd, tho
I'm also a bit concerned about battery life on this
Gonna be honest, idk what the fuck mini led is lol
The most important question đ
And yeah. I wasn't super impressed with the o2m screen. You could mess with saturation to get it to a more vibrant point, but I actually like my KT-R1 screen better
I mean, at the end of the day it's all subjective
I guess. I think most people would agree the KTR1 is more vibrant out the box at least. Wish I had my o2m still so I could show side by side
There are a lot of things to consider than just how vibrant a screen is. Blacks are much better on a mini led than on a lcd, almost as good as an oled. Brightness is usually better on mini leds as well.
I actually think the Ace looks better than the Mini but that's entirely subjective
I'm not a fan of the vignetting tbh
Itâs just not noticeable when Iâm playing games, and even in most normal situations.
Sure if I crank the brightness to max and put white on black text on in a dark room I could see it, but normal gameplay doesnât really show vignetting at all in my experience
Iâm sure this screen is very nice though, Iâm excited to see actual footage
People definitely complained about it not having an OLED. But then again neither did any of the retro consoles and I wouldnât dare to use a shader with bezels on an OLED. I guess it depends on how you want to relive your memories. Iâm really not a fan of the punchy colors and aggressive red of my Retroidâs Amoled
this is Ayaneo we are talking about lol
highly likely it's the same price as the DMG, if not higher, specially with that chip
IT'S THE SAME FUCKING CHIP
HARDWARE WISE IT IS THE EXACT SAME AS THE DMG ASIDE FROM A DIFFERENT SCREEN AND TWO STICKS
And both of those component changes result in a device that's cheaper to make
If higher it's for some combination of these 3 reasons. One, it's newer. Two, glass front. And 3, there will still be additional new cost in PCB, etc.
Whether or it's higher or lower probably comes down to how much the touchpad and wheel on the DMG cost vs those 3
I can't imagine a glass front actually costs that much
Since MagicX were planning on having a P65 device with one
Yeah but those don't really exist
So it's hard to say. It's def more expensive than a plastic front and normal screen. We just don't know how much
But like there's no guarantee it'll somehow be cheaper.
I don't know if Ayaneo would even allow that. Kind of undercuts a previous product
Hm, true
Guess we'll find out tomorrow
I'm trying to think about the RP5's price since that's got the glass front
Actually
@sand gyro
Pocket Evo has a full glass front, that bigass OLED screen, a huge battery, and also modular controls
And is $40 more than the DMG
I dont think pocket evo has modular controls, that's the ayaneo 3
They do look basically identical though
oh
Fuck
Because Russ made a video about it not too long ago, and I knew the most recent Ayaneo device had modular controls, I thought that was it
And as you said, they look really alike lol
Well damn
In any case, I see it maybe making a $10 difference
So the Ace might be closer to the DMG in cost than I'd hope
It should be hopefully, I mean this kind of seems like something they're making to get rid of the g3x gen 2
I think the base will be $299
its a fair bit nicer looking than the regular odin 2 but a far cry from the RP5 or any other oled tbh
colors are vibrant enough but the vignetting is very noticeable
any useful/extra information from the stream?
Nothing we already donât know we do get these goodies if ordering early bird
Which are actually useful, screen protector , grip case and extra stick caps are really great additions
Grip case does look nice
Wow you also get a free slide out handheld
Some of the stuff they include (not the ones mentioned above) sometimes feels unnecessary though, like they could have cut down the packaging and lower shipping costs (and hopefully pass the savings over to us)
Their boxes and stuff is always super big, even for a 6 inch device like air plus
Arthur likes live streams, no hate for that
I just want know the price .
end of April, unfortunately
557 is going to steal my wallet. Good bye Ace we only just knew each other
Do we have an actual date for the launch of the IGG page?
there is another "final conference" at end of april according to one of their discord mod, so probably shortly after that conference.
cant wait for them to have this up for 400
It won't starting , I'm sure there will be a top end model for that much if not more but highly doubt it will start at that price ,
Well I see it starting at that for the "official retail price"
How how the DMG is $420 but you could get it for $340 on IGG
A concern I still have is about the sticks potentially being too far down
It does look a bit awkward ergonomically in this video

IGG Pre-lau...
I really wish IGG orders opened sooner
Because I'm still stuck between this and the Odin 2 Mini
Odin 2 and Mini have promo codes that are available until the 25th
One good thing about IGG is you get some actual use freebies this time
Protective case looks like it gives you something to grip
So might help ergonomics
I'm hoping the grip case is the type that you can put on both the front and back
So it'll cover the screen and sticks when not in use
I prefer those too but probably not
They do usually sell extra zip up thin cases that do that though

Sadly there's just no way this won't be tarrifed to death whenever it ships for me. Sad. I def would have considered it
I wouldn't worry Trump won't be president by the time this comes out
This has to be the best looking device from Ayaneo so far, do we know when the IGG campaign will start?
Late this month is the only real clue we have
Would be nice. But doubtful. People still defend trump for making the best 5d chess move regardless of what it is
What do you mean by this ?
You think heâs stepping down

I can't imagine ever holding any handheld like that lmao. Maybe it's the camera to blame for that unholy claw thumb.
I think he was referencing Ayaâs release schedule
Getting old while he's as unhealthy as he is
Sorry to break it to you but none of those are happening, if we had basically a vegetable lead the country the last administration hes in it for the long term
Wether you agree or disagree with his policies
Hoping someone dies to get your way is kind of really messed up though
What the hell is wrong with some of you people
Will leave it at that but we shouldnât really clog this thread with politics from both sides
Hoping he does so you can buy a handheld is pretty messed up. Plenty other reasons to wish ill will on him (destroying 401ks, gutting special needs education assistance, killing small businesses/farmers with tarrifs, deporting people without due process and against the law, actual removal of 1st amendment rights, etc). Wishing so for the latest toy is like lowest priority đ
It's a bajillion other things aside from just handhelds, but I'll leave it at that since it wouldn't be on-topic in the slightest
Sorry
I'll be deleting that post
I shouldn't have gotten too deep into politics
Anyways, any news about this handheld?
typical democratic take lol
If only it were simple deportations instead of the whole concentration camp in El Salvador where they will never be released thing - thatâs functionally mass murder.
soon they'll bring the cows into this channel too đ
I wish theyâd bring a headphone jack smdh
I donât even support consoles but I would die for that cow
Your not wrong unfortunately
In the end its messed up no matter which party it is anyway that enough of that ...
So is the Ace officially set to launch at the end of the month ?
This seems to be the best idea we have
I think that is the expected timeframe for a price reveal
Not sure if they'll open pre orders by then as well
The thought of the the stick placement kept fucking nagging at me
I was considering waiting to see if they'd release a version with the stick on top instead, like how the Pocket Micro had a version with no sticks come out
But the world might have gone to shit by then
So I ended up buying an Odin 2 Mini
Especially since there were coupons for it
Good choice - who even knows when the Ace will actually start shipping!
Probably a month to 6 weeks after the launch at the end of the month so a good 8 weeks from now.I don't know why they do this there is so much competition out there why unveil things months and weeks before you can actually get your hands on it.
And worse is there are still issues after all that time.
Stay tuned on our YouTube tonight
Actually what's the price on this thing
Nobody knows yet
Holy shit
People are getting review units early huh
I swear it's not common for people to get review units before the IGG page even launches
Maybe shipping will be quick. I remember when I ordered my Aya Neo Pocket Air. It shipped about a week after doing the pledge.
Is this the first look at this new screen. I think it is. Will give us an idea of what to expect on the Powkiddy rgb50 too
Tbh the screen isn't really that much of a point of interest, because it's likely the same screen as on the KT-R1
And if it is, then we've already seen it in action
Oh really?! Didnt realise it was in the KTR1
At the very least, it's the same screen size, aspect ratio, and resolution
Idk if it's 100% the same
But there are a number of devices coming out soon with screens that appear to be the exact same
The GKD Little and RGB50, for example
it's almost certainly the KTR1 screen yes
Arthur said that the color profile is different from KTR1 and is brighter at 500 nits
Also, KTR1 has undergone at least three screen revisions. The first one when it came out, it actually had a visible light sensor in the top right corner. The second revision had issues with green tinting. The most recent version, released late last year, offers a brighter, improved display.
So when people say itâs exactly the same screen as the KTR1, it is technically inaccurate
How are ergonomics
Default sticks are smaller, but it includes these ones to swap out
Very nice actually
Comfy
Lightweight
Nice
No hard edges
how does it compare against the RP Mini and RP5 in size? I'm guessing it's somewhere in the middle
Also wondering this. Both sticks bottom like RP5 which I donât find comfortable (for me). These also arenât inset a little like the RP Mini so interested in ergonomics here.
Design of it is killer though.
This need a stick swap with the rg557, both will benefits from it
Hope to see other devices using this screen, with a SOC that is more of middle ground between the a527 devices and this one.
A527 feels too weak for to take advantage of this screen in 3D stuff, ktr1 was expensive at launch for a g99 (+ the qa issues) and price didn't change even now.
Or maybe ayaneo will surprise us with a relatively low price for this since this is using "older chip" now.
anbernic will probably do a 457 that is basically that by summer
If they do and it's priced like the rg557, pocket ace would probably be the better choice đ
Update: the video is delayed until tomorrow.
One thing that I wanted to share that I've stumbled on here, is I see Aya has some stricter review guidelines and also an embargo for this release for some of the testing (they are making the screen less finger printy for final retail units was the main thing).
They also don't want a review, pictures or clips made public without approval and seeing the content first. That is frustrating and goes directly against our reviewer ethics. We are sharing clips, pics and the video without approval as usual, they can yell and blacklist RH if they want.
It is silly since the handheld is pretty damn solid, and I'm not finding any deal breakers in the day I've had it here. Im not sure what they are worried about, it is basically the Pocket DMG / EVO except in a 3:2 format.
The screen also doesnt appear much more finger printy in this engineering sample than any other to me, so
Having said that, I already filmed the video and shared the thoughts I wanted to share before even bothering to read the attached guidelines, beyond agreeing to the review embargo that was discussed in email first. An embargo is normal, the "guidelines" not so much, unless you're doing a paid sponsor insert for NordVPN or something. đ
This is the first time they have asked this of us, and I hope other reviewers will also mention this as it is a slippery slope to have the review be spot checked and potentially asked to be altered before release. No thank you.
Now for the rest of my thoughts on the actual handheld: the main thing that stood out to me as a drawback is the speakers could be better. It's not the best android of 2025 in my mind here, but man if the price is right, I think it's a great contender as THE 3:2 beast (GKD Little / RGB50 when?) Performance is there like the dmg and evo. 3:2, even 4:3 and 16:9 looks great on it. I also like how lightweight and comfy it feels.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk, and let me know if you're interested in a livestream to dive into the weeds on this thing together. We could do that Thursday. đ»
Is it the same anti uv-coated plastic as on the DMG?
Damn was hoping they would change that. Ah well
No price yet?
Due to the color, I don't see the smudges unless I really try. The white / black DMG units were more smudgy for me.
No price yet
That embargo thing is kinda lousy. They're really tryna drill down
Guessing $300 - $400 range
I'm sure they think the evo could've sold better
Yeah I think its related to the DMG review kerfuffles surrounding the UV coating
That too
They want benchmarking to match their results, and yeah no, we'll see on the livestream how it does in realtime together
You will soon get to rest
We'll release the first look tomorrow, and i'd do the livestream tomorrow too, but it will be Thurs since i'm off from RH to celebrate my 40th with the fam (it has been demanded)
Happy Birthday for tomorrow. My 40th isnât for a few months so Iâm officially young until thenâŠ.
You better live it up, whipper snapper (and thank you) đ
Ok recorded a first look to the first look i'm just going to share here raw so you don't need to wait, I promised a first look tonight and GOSH DARN I WILL DELIVER IT
Playing Hades on a 4.3" display (since Switch) sounds fuckin rough lmao
Since everything in that game is so small
I wasn't even gonna attempt it on Odin 2 Mini
Haha I tried that on the retroid mini
How come itâs ALWAYS sunny where Stubbs lives
In Oregon it's raining a lot and we all lack vitamin D, but when I see the sun is out I go and capture pics and vids
If there is no sun I usually only film inside, so most of the fall / winter months
40 wow
I'm surprised he found the device comfortable, with the stick placement being where it is
Or maybe he just didn't get to use it for a prolonged period of time yet
Iâm so done with ayaneo. All the quirks you get/forgive from a $50 device at 10x the price
I do see the device being worth it if it's about $300
But it would only be that low for IGG preorders
Which I think fuckin sucks
They really are way too expensive outside of that
And really all not that âpremiumâ when the novelty wears off and you scratch beneath the surface
Can I share this around or discord eyes only?
I'm sure Ayaneo will know it exists sooner rather than later anyway. Lol. Just wanted permission to post around for people interested
Wow . This has got to be my most favorite Ayaneo device. Can't wait!!! Tarrifs or no tarrifs, I'm most definitely getting that one đ€€
Yeah. Worst case I'll order from droix
Should deliver before the end of the now 75 day pause maybe?
What's the res on the screen again?
I'm waiting for OLED rollable screens to become viable. I could see 'stretching out' a controller to get a nice 16:9 or even 21:9 8" screen from a 4" inch carry.
Ah meant just for our group here to see the unlisted vid here, since I promised an early look at the thing, the actual first look video covers the same topics but is more watchable
1620*1080
Awesome. I am wanting one since the evo sold out of their retro power version.
All good. Why I always ask đ
Looks like im not the only one reacting poorly to their review guidelines. They say its all a misunderstanding and we dont need to send them the video for approval before posting now. It also looks like there is a full embargo on all content, which is something we can agree on. The video is private until the campaign launches, along with the first look that was going to be released today. đ€
well damn
Can't spell ayaneo without "no"
Iâll be honest I donât agree with everything Ayaneo do but you canât say they dont make good devices
Good looking devices. I love their pocket line but feel they abandon their products too soon.
The only device Iâve got which comes close to feeling as premium as some of my Ayaneo stuff is the metal analogue pocket and thatâs not great in the price / performance ratio
Iâve maybe not been around long enough to see that, which devices have they abandoned?
More so updates, the pocket Evo still has issues that people have taken it upon themselves to fix with no word from Ayaneo about providing fixes.
Ah ok, was that the thermal pad stuff? I thought they sent kits to people
But yeah like I said, I donât always like them as a company, but you canât hold a pocket micro in your hand without becoming a tiny bit of an Ayaneo fanboy
Design wise they really nail it for me
Thermal pad was another issue, which I can give them a pass because they did offer solutions to those affected by it and other manufacturers have had similar stuff happen (powkiddy rgb30 battery issue for example)
But damn. Do I love the pocket s, pocket dmg, and pocket Evo. They just know how to make a handheld feel luxurious.
Tell me about it man
If you donât own a micro classic then definitely take a look at one. Such a great little thing, a metal NES controller with a really nice screen
Oh I forgot to mention that, got the one without sticks as I wanted an end game GBA emulator. It just checks all the boxes.
But admittedly I'm not personally fond of the Flip DS or Ayaneo 3, doesn't do anything for me and my wallet can't stomach the hx370 prices đ«
Kind of feel like theyâre mishandling the release of the Ace though and theyâve erred on the âannoying lack of infoâ side when they were probably aiming for âgenerate hypeâ
Well for some of their devices at least. Pretty sure DMG had the same issue and they didn't offer it for them
Loved the ace but I opted for the micro. If it release the other way around id probably go for it.
Itâs my favourite device and I own enough that I donât want to list them all as Iâll have to admit I have a problem. Which colour did you go for?
DMG wasnt getting thermal throttled but you could get extra performance by improving the cooling, Iâm not sure that counts
are u talking about the pocket micro classic?
Plus I like that Ayaneo will sell you whatever parts you want, Iâve got a small collection of replacement shells, buttons and screens to future proof my devices as much as possible
Yeah I heard about that with the DMG but I don't plan to push it hard so I wasn't worried about it.
Yeah
Yup. That one.
gotcha
It wasn't? My scores were pretty bad til I put new pads on. The old one didn't even reach the heatsink
Think they were trying their luck
Weren't they also blaming new staff or something for ignoring Russ emails sometime last year iirc
What were your scores before? In the discord everyone was in the high 3000s, but benchmark scores are not the same as getting poor performance when gaming Id say. Either way Iâm not here to defend them against anything apart from the claim that they donât make great devices
And thatâs only because of my slightly romantic attachment to the micro classic đ
That's upsetting
I mean sure. But the low shouldn't be in the low 2000s
Like you could see the throttle dips. Everyone did until they put new pads on. Which I mean whatever. Pads aren't expensive and it's a pretty easy fix
Ah ok I may have been lucky there then; my low was 3500ish and high was around 4000. Iâm still tempted to open it up at some point
But I find that sort of stuff a lot easier to forgive than my anbernics which might explode if I accidentally plug them into the wrong charger for example
Yeah. The bigger advantage is you can put it on low performance mode and get good stability and numbers
Should extend the life of the internals
But yeah. Way better than exploding
Haha
Iâve never ordered through IGG before. Do they charge instantly or is it charged when shipped or the campaign ends? I am hoping instantly.
I worry Iâll forget later haha.
I'll take a pic in a min. I took pics of the pre scores but was so relieved with post I didn't even bother đ
Its instant
Awesome. Thank you!
Although who knows if theyâll ever actually tell us the price
True.
This feels like they tried, got pushback from reviewers, and then backpedaled. Such an oddly specific request they haven't done before to not notice it went out to every reviewer.
I bet that is almost exactly what happened
Companies try to do this shit all the time. It's like they keep pushing until they get weaker responses then make it finalized
Has backfired though because I would have ordered this without a thought but now I want to wait and see what hidden thing is wrong with it
Yeah, it's an unnecessary ask that just raises eyebrows now. AyaNeo has a niche and customer base that will order their devices regardless, so this feels counterintuitive.
Yeah man, same thought
Going to continue testing in the meantime and see if I can discover any gatchas hiding here
I will share anything I find
In the Ayaneo discord one of their reps just told me the production device will be less fingerprinty than the engineering sample. No idea if they mean just the screen or the whole device but fingers crossed that we get proper matte plastic
Is there a price sticker on the box anywhere??
In case anyone isnât in that discord and is curious
I wish they would stop putting whatever material they put on their plastics or make it textured like the steam deck. Fingerprints galore.
Itâs their anti-uv coating specially designed to make your device feel like it came in a happy meal
For the full retro experience
People say that they are cautious about reviewers criticizing something that is only applicable to prototype/review samples but isn't that entirely the fault of Ayaneo for not putting these things in the review notes provided to reviewers?
An embargo until the campaign goes live is clearly just there because they don't have faith in how their product functions. They only have faith in how pretty it looks in promo material.
When u guys say fingerprint magnet you are not talking about the top layer which looks like glass, but the rest of the shell?
Pretty much
Glass fronts are fingerprint-y regardless
But Aya's last few devices have had an "anti-UV" coating on their plastic shells
The purpose of the coating is to stop discolouration of the shell over time, but the drawback is that the coating gives the device a much glossier finish, which fingerprints are a lot more likely to show up on
I guarantee it's probably also cheaper
It's possible early production units have some oleophobic coating that was applied wrong or something. Pretty sure I it's an entirely glass front, so I don't think it's a UV coating thing
Yeah that was just me being hopeful, I think theyâve been pretty clear itâs the glass
Can we as a community just blacklist aya yet
They blacklist anyone who gives them a bad review, none of their handhelds get any meaningful support post launch, and they appear to have forgotten what a 3.5mm audio jack is
My government will do it for me so no sweats
That's because ayaneo is too good for a headphone jack, you're going to get a fingerprint sensor and you're going to like it
I do kinda like it đ
I did like the fingerprint sensor on my Odin 2 tbh
Yeah I've heard the removal of it for the Mini wasn't insignificant
Yeah itâs a shame it didnât come back on the portal
Feel like it's just nice for unlocking and jumping right in
I don't really agree that they don't get meaningful support, they do, more so than most other manufacturers.
I am kind of shocked how many of their core applications do still get updates going forward
The main shitty thing is having to send things back for repairs or batteries
Especially now at least
we'll finally see a price i guess
They push out updates regularly, but those updates don't necessarily fix the issues with the different devices and sometimes even introduce more. Not sure if the bosses there are pushing the developers to throw out updates just to fulfill some kpi or something.
Maybe that's what people were referring to as meaningful support.
I personally stop updating ayaspace etc everytime they push one out.
Why are in this thread then? You want to justify what?
Is this not the thread where their edicts to reviewers were shared?
It was
If I posted in the wrong thread by accident I can move my post to somewhere else
I don't think Stubbs posted his vid outside of this thread
Hrm, no clue what jay is on about then
Well ig he expects these threads to be dedicated to hype more than anything
And for people who actually plan to get the device
I do think the Pocket Ace could be amazing
I do actually like the aesthetics of this one a lot, I just wish the sticks were recessed (theyâre already so small!) and there was a headphone jack
Chip is massive overkill for my purposes but whatever
But I didn't want wait until after the discount ended on Odin 2 Mini to decide on whether or not to get one
Especially since we still don't have a price
Do you have the o2mini in hand yet? I really like the vita look of that one
Wish it were dpad top tho
Would it really kill ayn to throw us 2d enjoyers a single solitary bone
I have one, itâs mostly nice but itâs more modern looking than Iâd like, and the sticks are a bit too close to the other controls which makes them annoying even when you arenât using them
Wait, so what are you actually looking for then?
I take it you want a horizontal specifically
That, or you don't like the RP Classic's screen
I actually am quite interested in the rp classic
Just waiting a bit to see if any dealbreakers come up, Iâm trying not to order anything when itâs brand new new
That's smart
I wouldâve paid extra for the classic to be 865 just so it wouldnât be uncharted territory/have a better gpu for shaders/have properly open source firmware but it is what it is
406v is my current favourite I think but pocketable it is not lol
The rp5 will stay for psp either way
Bulky boi
The main thing I like about the 406v is probably the main thing that appeals here too - properly inset stick placement to actually be DualShock layout instead of putting them directly under the dpad and abxy
The 406v is the closest to an actual DualShock controller Iâve found in a handheld thus far
I see that with the 406V, but not the Pocket Ace
406v's sticks are fairly close together
Whereas the Pocket Ace's are still almost directly under the buttons
Just really far below them
The saving grace will likely be the device's chin
Yeah nobody really wants to sacrifice screen to body ratio for more gamepad like ergo on horizontals it seems, while on large enough verticals it kinda happens naturally
The o2portal and most x86 handhelds properly align their lower controls but they go Xbox layout since theyâre more modern game focused
That's pretty shitty yeah, they need way better QA on their batteries and charging components. But updates/support wise they're better than most.
Def true
Just ship that battery
Maybe because you sometimes have to take stuff apart to get to it
Would be nice if all these makers just did battery door covers and easy connectors
the problem is we let devices with batteries in them ship by air but loose batteries are hazardous material
Yeah. They just need to put it in something. Lol
Some cheap plastic case
But anyway. Took apart my portal and realized another plus of Ayaneo. All the case screws are screwed into metal inserts in the plastic
Rather than just screwed into the plastic
Almost stripped a portal screw. It might be. But I think i got it snug

why do I like the look of this handheld so much... it's like a more sleek rp2s
Iâm going to get the retro version. So Iâm about to be broke I imagine.
This tbh
Be good to know what comfort is like. I love the looks but itâs got a lot of angular edges.
What kind of prices do yall predict? Early bird retro pricing prob $499 like the dmg?
Embargo is up tomorrow at 5am PST
Likely campaign is launching then
My video should be going live then also
I'll un-private my casual first look again as well
Awesome I canât wait!
I thought I was done buying devices now that my portal arrived but this is kind of tempting. @winter turret can you tell us if itâs more or less comfy than the RP5 when using the sticks or will the Ayaneo hit squads come for you?
Maybe they will come, so far they have not, tomorrow may change that đ
That's a tough one though, the rp5 sticks are better. For my hands the rp5 with a grip is more comfortable for shooters. Pocket Ace is more dpad focused with the sticks as a nice bonus, however they work well and are fairly comfy for shorter play sessions. A few quick rounds of war zone, etc.
The most comfortable will be the Pocket Evo
I think for non modern dual stick gaming like PS2 they are great though, really enjoying games like Black
Streaming feels good too, but yeah you might find yourself wanting bigger sticks for twin stick stuff, they are bigger than the rg557 which I very much appreciate
My vid will show how I hold it and what its like
They're bigger than the rg557 đ that's insane
They have larger caps included which is appreciated
Seems I was right to get the Odin 2 Mini then
At least in terms of analogue sticks
Howâs the screen? And the overall size difference with the rp5? I caught a glimpse of that video, but a bit hard to tell đ
It's a very close size to the KT-R1, so this comparison should work fine
This is 1cm taller than the RP5, and 3 cm narrower
Ace somewhat wider than the r1 I think. Just going by spacing around the dpad/buttons. maybe taller too⊠that chin would s a bit.. deceiving
Big difference between the Ace and devices with similar screens is that its bezeless
So that chin ends up making it about equal
Interesting, thanks
The rp5 has become kinda end game for me⊠this peeks my interest a bit.. not $350+ interesting though
Yeah. She gonna be pricey
Maybe we'll find out the price today, seems likely with embargo ending in 1.5 hours
Yeah they said IGG orders will open halfway through the livestream
That IGG early bird price on the retro power though đ
Yeah I only wanted the retro power version.
$599 is too much for me atm so Iâm skipping this one for now.
same, already dropped some money on switches. I'll probably just wait for the mythical odin 3 mini
Yeah Iâm waiting to see @winter turret âs review but this feels like something I probably donât need
glad they kept the high price, because:
The early bird of 339 isn't too bad if the device don't have any major issue, not the igg retail price though.
Was hoping for lower price since they have device with new chips coming out soon, but too bad..
The early bird IGG price is the same as DMG's, but the official retail price got pumped up even further
Need something between the a527 devices using this screen and ace (not the ktr1)
Baka mitai...
Well now I'm extra glad that I got the Odin 2 Mini while it had a discount
It arrived today as well lol
oh goodie 10 dollar off. lol
at this price point... $10 off doesn't really make the difference đ
at least to me...
I don't think I'll be spending my hard earned money on this, unfortunately, it's just too expensive for me
The 12gb + 256gb version being more expensive than an Odin 2 Portal Pro (retail price) is wild
also, 16gb, what utilizes that much power?
Shipping not included which means tariffs could screw this
Winlator, ps3
Also you can get the pocket s for $479 and it's really good 1440p retro power from ayaneo.com
Problem with the Pocket S are the sticks đ€ą
whats wrong with it. im out of the loop with ayaneo devices
Hall effect Switch sticks, but still Switch sticks
Which I hate with a burning passion
Powkiddy rgb50 looking pretty good now if price right
You can also get the Odin 2 Portal Por for $399, with great sticks, great screen and great soc
lol
I wanna kill whoever invented these
man, the gulikit hall effect I put in my joycons does that lol
Yh they cooked
It's already screwed
rip
don't worry, affording handhelds will be last of concerns đ
32 bucks to US currently lol
does that say DHL? Or 4PX?
didn't specify
In the past they have used DHL unless requested otherwise
But dunno if that changes now with the situation
Really wish the base was at least 256GBs storage for $339âŠ.128GBs is kind of pathetic if you want to do any newer Android AAA gaming
Guess Im sticking with my Razer Edge S9 combo
I've been wanting this but afraid tariffs are gonna screw it up. I need to remind myself to enjoy what I already have.
Yeah they wont use 4PX tried in the past. They do have other solutions though. They shipped via DPD across Europe and then Evri into UK. This avoided import tax for me. But not sure what option will be now for US
I thought people usually used micro SDs for their games on these handhelds, even the ones by Retroid and AYN
Largely because putting the games on the SD is a lot easier than putting them in internal storage, I thought
depending on the size of the internal storage size i'd imagine
You can't install Android games to the SD card is the issue for people who want to do high end Android gaming like Mofo above clearly wants to.
I have a base Odin 2 portal and I've always been fine with the storage because I don't really care about native android games.
Also if you want to do PS2 or GameCube texture packs those need to be installed on internal only.
Ohhh
I know for Android gaming at least
Although ig I'm probably underestimating how much file space native Android games take up
I know these are different devices but the RP mini fills the void for me and I wonât be going after the Ace even though Iâve been tracking it
wish i had kept mine and recieved the screen update, but hey.... made a good sale from it
Exactly this , I mean it would be a shame and kind of a waste to not use such a high end SOC for just emulation IMO . Not into that many Android games but there are a few coming out that look interesting
How much do they occupy usually per game for the higher end ones?
And formatting microsd as internal storage might be an option? Need to use a good card though.

You dont need it, and also the GKD Little and PK RGB50 are coming soon
Too late, I bought one. Itâs not entirely your fault but about 98%
the gkd firmware situation is likely to be dire so fingers crossed on the rgb50 being good
Yeah let's see
Also in case not posted, here's my thoughts. There's extra thoughts in the description about the review unit kerfuffles.
đIn today's video Stubbs unboxes and gives his first impressions of the Pocket ACE, a new 3:2 aspect ratio Android handheld with the SnapDragon 8 G3X Gen 2, sent for review from AYANEO. Testing did not discover thermal issues like past devices, but we are early in the review phase. This is an engineering sample, and not the final review unit ...
How does it feel to use the sticks, pretty cramped?
This device could've been so good but the stick placement and size kills it for me
I think Iâm more interested in the pocket S2
Maybe its just me, but its really hard for me to justify this price for a ps1/psp/ gba handheld as i paid less for a pc/ps2/gc handheld (steamdeck). Seems the same as buying a weekend house thats more expensive than the house i live inâŠ
Feels pretty good but not for long play sessions, I was enjoying some warzone.
Whatâs a house? I sleep under my collection of Android handhelds
Messing around this morning a bit more. I think my favorite feature on this is the haptics. If this could have had the pocket DMG screen, man, that would have been
bUt It'S sO pReMuIm
Only 74 backers so far đŹ That's not an encouraging start.
what does that entail really? I don't think anyone was surprised at all on the prices. Edit: TF is this bird emoji it added... lol
Most backers used the discount links they sent by email which donât show up on IGG. I was order number 22 but IGG showed only one other order so I donât think that number is accurate
Nah the secret perks add to the backers. There's about half of the backers showing where they don't have the link or haven't used it, the rest is those that have.
$700 being the highest price point for the 1tb retro edition. đđđ
Oh indeed looks like youâre right. I do think that until thereâs more clarity on tariffs people are going to be cautious with what they buy and this thing is pretty niche
i pulled the trigger on the Retro Power after debating with myself for around 10 min. Wishing for a cry once buy once sort of thing on this.
I believe it is their worst sale number for first-day backers, but I blame it more to the tariff than the actual product quality. China side should do quite well..this time they have subsidies from the government which lowers the base model price to only $270.
So the Chinese buyers donât use IGG? Is there an equivalent listing for domestic clients?
No, they use JD dot com
I'm ready
picked up a used kt-r1 to see how much I would like the 4.5" 3:2 screen
gotta say, the buttons, sticks, and dpad are absolute trash
and there is some very noticeable light bleed around the edges of the screen when its displaying a darker image
also i should have known this but it still isn't perfectly integer scaled up to the full display
Ah old ktr1
i get why its not popular
Bro it's doomed from the start
Plastic version?
yeah
Used kt-r1 is a gamble in itself. It's been iterated on so many times
I have a metal and everything is amazing. But they only sold them as premiums in China
But the screen size is awesome
Makes me wish this wasn't so dumb expensive. Rgb50 does less for me.
C'mon GKD Little
Gonna be my handheld of the year. Next year? 2 years from now? Who knows
Yeah, ok Iâm not getting this (unless the Cheeto cancels the tariffs at the last minute since ânot many people like them, including myself, I never thought it was a good idea, I just agreed that it was the only solution at the time since China wasnât being cooperativeâ or some other bullshit).
I actually was legit interested in this device as a replacement for my Micro (and for most of my other older Android handhelds). Iâm not interested in paying likely $500 for the 8GB-RAM Early Bird.
Yurp hard no. Or it needs to launch soon enough to get on droix before UK tarrifs go back into effect
Should still do better than their ayaneo 3 igg
only 381 backers
Where are those keycaps from?
I want one but, I'm not spending this money
Well there are other devices with the same screen coming out soon which will be cheaper
anyone knows which what kind of company Ayaneo ships their Indigogo orders to the EU?
I'm pretty sure IGG defaults to 4PX
that would be good, because with their own website they only provide DHL, which would mean taxes
At least that's what I've seen
ahh, just kill me now for wasting money
Iâm sure my DMG from IGG came with DHL
Also I just had a 4px package stopped for customs fees so itâs not always foolproof
Artisan keycap makers, @unknown_keycaps, @alphakeycaps, and @bogan.caps from IG

I mean, with DHL they would charge more than 28⏠
and yeah obviously 4PX can fail, but better than sending it straight to be taxed
Iâll double check but Iâm 99% sure they always use DHL
Iâve had 4 devices from them now, only one from IGG though
this sounds... great đ
Whenâs that?
No they dont use 4PX at all. Aya refuse to use 4PX due to high loss rate. Itâs DPD
But you have to request it. Otherwise its DHL automatically
Evo and DMG shipped via DPD on request, then Evri when hit UK. No import charges that way
If you do the DPD route, they only show dispatch. No other tracking updates. So be prepared to be scared for about 2 weeks with no news
on the Ayaneo discord they said it's a mixture of FedEx and DHL outside of the US
so 100bucks extra
If you mention about import tax, they will say they âhave other optionsâ and then they dispatch via DPD
But only works for EU and UK peeps
Done it twice now on Evo and DMG
you gotta write their support or via the IGG campaign in that case?
Support email with IGG ref number
They make a note on your order
But like I say, DPD donât give tracking updates. So be prepared for nothing for ages till it arrives in your local depot. But it does avoid tax
Oh fuck
If DHL and FedEx are mandatory, I'm extra glad I picked up an Odin 2 Mini
FedEx invoice you like a week after delivery, asking for an extra âŹ100
Fucking sucks
the micro wasn't an rp mini competitor
Oh lord
I feel like any mention of the Micro summons you from the depths
You came up like a jumpscare lmao
oh i forgot about the brain dead tariffs
I don't think you've ever messaged in this thread before but I could be wrong
something between pocket s and micro im very curious about.
could use a slightly larger but way more powerful micro
just for when i wanna set up the pain in the ass that is switch android emulation.
Fair
I do wonder how playable Switch would be on what's effectively a 4.3" display
i play lots of gamecube on the micro so i bet it would be fine for me. i think psp is also really good on micro and that one gets very small text at times
so much reading to do in yakuza and it's fine imo
Hmmm
Idk
TVs on average are a lot bigger than they used to be
So it makes sense for games from the early 2000s to be playable without much issue
You would be indeed
most ppl will rightfully think the text is too small
Since a lot of the community is old enough for their vision to start worsening
I'm young but I'm farsighted anyway
What I'm especially interested in seeing is something like Xenoblade on one of these, since there's a lot of text to be read in real-time
ooh i should out diablo 3 on the micro and see how legible the text is đ€
i bet not very much
can't switch change aspect ratio in the settings though?
I have no idea
based on the tv is plugged into. idr my switch is in the other room
thx a bunch, gotta ask them
No worries at all đȘ
90 day pause. So we're at day like 70 or something. But pause could end at any moment, or be extended, or lit on fire, or smothered with gummy bears. It's really up in the air at this point
They said shipping would start at the end of May IIRC
Yeah. So hopefully droix will get them and be able to ship out fast. if you go with them for an order I'd suggest not hesitating too long. once they clear through whatever preorder stock they have the second batch might not make it in time
Still undecided if I'll grab this or just stick with my dmg
Thatâs the same thing Iâm hoping to do. Do not want to do it if tariffs do still stay up.
yeah, best advice is to pre-order for the first batch.... anything afterwards is just a guesstimate as to when they will restock. Otherwise, fantastic site/seller
Anyone know how to ensure we get a notification on when droix gets a batch of them?
best is their "ETA Date" they post on the product page. I once asked their customer service rep a similair question regarding the Pocket DMG and was told the same "ETA Date" đ€·ââïž
Huh, well I canât even find the product page for it to begin with, so I guess weâll just have to wait and see when it gets to them?
Regardless, it sucks that we likely wonât even be able to get the extras like the grip without paying extra.
they provided the pocket dmg control cover, carrying case, and something else with the purchase... so not always. Either way, I ended up cancelling with them and bought it directly from Ayaneo and got it pre-tariff
i cant imagine the tariff situation improving anytime soon
I canât either, hence why Iâm now planning on just defaulting to Droix if they get them in the cheapest option (8GB-RAM and black), and beforehand was already planning on only getting whatever popped up in #1118633698179428362
fair. Not sure what your experiences are with Aya as a whole đ hopefully reviews are good
Although I do think there is a chance Cheeto just cancels the whole thing with the excuse of âno one likes doing them, not even me, I only did it due to my hand being forced by the current situation, but Chinaâs finally being more reasonable so Iâm glad to now get rid of themâ although he likely wonât even admit that and just flat out pretend he never did it in the first place.
You know, before he then goes back on that as well and starts threatening tariffs again because he unironically canât stick to his word on either end and will just keep going back and forth on this.
For switch emulation, 12 or 16 GB?
On the Ayaneo discord a rep mentioned tariffs not being an issue so I went ahead and checked out the igg page, forgot about the pricing and noped right out again. đ€Ł
Didnât they literally just say it was an issue?
Well that makes things more interesting. Regardless I am gonna pass, it's just a reminder to use what I already have. đ«
Yeah. But their new shipper will "find a way around it". Basically they're gonna ship to Canada and take it across the boarder via mule
So is it now good and the whole mule thing is a joke, or are they literally smuggling these things in and expecting us to be fine with potentially losing out on well over $300?
My gut is telling me the latter. If it's too good to be true, prob is. And for the amount I'd need to drop for this, not gonna risk it. Id like to be proven wrong.
To be fair. They've been smuggling for decades. Under declaring value is basically smuggling.
Yeah, Iâm kind of talking about whether or not theyâre gonna be shipping to Canada and then using a proxy shipper we donât know about.
Also, just rejoined that discord, you couldâve warned us that a certain douche is in there.
Not familiar with who's a douche and who isn't there.
If you didnât know in the first place then fair enough.
Starts with O ends with C?
Think switch emulator tops out at 9ish GB so 12 should be fine. I guess if you're doing some winlator you could go higher than 12
Starts with D, ends with G, and itâs effectively 2-3 words with no spaces.
ooh who we discussing đ
The prices not including tariffs is crazy to me. Who the heck is going to pay up to a thousand dollars for one of these?
i mean, why would they include tariffs?
aren't most places posting them upon getting the final purchase screen?
Amazon folded đ
Thought we were getting somewhere
Bezos at his finest đ«
They said that their new transport method would avoid tariffs for people in the US
would love to hear more about this shipping method đ
I guess they will go via a third country, I think Retroid are doing something similar
But either way surely good news for you guys in the US
As long as you donât get caught dodging the tariffs
Remember you the buyer are the importer here with a legal responsibility to verify country of origin and pay appropriate tariffs
The less people know the better
Straight to El Salvador
I would hope not but Iâm sure if laundering Chinese goods via a third country becomes common enough theyâll start seizing parcels and confiscating them at minimum
Yep
But also they are ruling by decree rather than written law these days so who knows what arbitrary fines or other punishments theyâll impose
Yup, considering the tariffs outright are executive order which isnât supposed to be how itâs handled, thereâs pretty much little to no actual way to handle court rulings for confiscated items that wouldnât also call into question whether the tariffs are legal in the first place.
So theyâll likely be avoiding courts entirely for âpunishing violationsâ.
They're going to Microsoft paint ms13 on our hands too đ
Theyâll change the ABXY button labels to MS13
it's đ
for legal reasons, this is a joke.
@candid gyro hello sir! So the USB-C port DOES work for headphones with a 3.5 to USB-C adapter.đ€
I figured we had another Picket Micro situation on our hands, thankfully we're good there.
Speakers might be the same as from the Evo, not 100% certain but sounds pretty dang close.
Planning to livestream tomorrow or Friday with this bad boi.
Update: Friday it is.
Can someone upload the pocket ace default wallpapers please đ. I like the look of them....
Depends who you ask. They had a very present high midrange spike so for certain things like guitar driven music soundtracks they sounded awful IMO. But they do also have some low end so some retro stuff sounds ok.
tariffs or not, i can't get over the asking price for this, even the lowest their is too expensive. Been going back and forth and opting to just sit this one out đŠ
Same. I got the micro used recently and fell in love with it. So this seems amazing step up from that. But price is tough to swallow.
Yeah. I'm gonna pass. If it didn't have weird sticks and there weren't like 3 alternatives coming I'd be more tempted
Yup, I have the pocket micro and feel for 3:2 it's fine... anything larger doesn't bother me whether it's in 4:3 or 16:9. And also the stick placement, as usual, seems off.
Without alternatives this would be a guaranteed banger. But there's just too much cool in the segment coming
To be honest if i were paying this money, id rather just go a step up and get Pocket S2
Better screen and all that.
yeeeeeeeeah, with those reasons it's gonna be a hard pass. Sucks but i'd instantly get buyer's remorse and email ayaneo to cancel my order otherwise đ€Ł
I mean it'd super cool. It there weren't tons of other stuff to buy and, at least for me, there wasn't massive tarrif risks, it'd probably be a no-brainer
Standard ayaneo fare, why would you support this
Eh. Nothing else like it tho
Just got the Ace from the secret perk offer
For me there is nothing quite like it
A powerful, compact 3:2 device with a Qualcomm chipset
Almost my ideal device
Only oled missing, but close enough
My contribution id was over 200 but the funding page is still in 150 so I guess the secret ones don't really appear
you get an ever increasing number assigned, but IGG obviously isn't using every single one or you could just randomly message them to change the shipping address
Raaah super sp!!!!!!!
Failed orders (due to website, card issue etc), cancelled orders etc still increases contribution id in igg
Thats quite painful. For someone who plays in bed a lot at night. That would annoy me. @winter turret does your unit have this?
Oh man
Did you see what I done (yeah, yeah)
Did you see what I done?
Ayaneo you cooked and finished my boy
$699 btw
it has to be a troll, theres just no way lol
the above is as bad or worse than what i see on google
Final proof that it is the same screen as on the KTR1
At certain angles the screen reflects funny, but I dont see bleed like the cube
yours definitely isnt as bad as the ones above
Here's from a different angle, but it's not appearing to be "bleed" like the cube had
Not sure about Roland's that looks more like traditional bleed đ€
Can we get video and shift the angles around? @chrome rain
Is the ktr1 like this? Its been a few years since I had one
I don't own the device. Just saw these pics posted at Baidu tieba.
Oh god
they bad stuff gets sold domestically, that's normal
Are they shipping internationally already?
Or only in china for now?
shipping should start this months somewhere, those shown are most likely per-production units send out for review
i hope for those who backed this that you're right
This seems more like camera illusion than anything. My y700 looks like this on my cell phone camera and doesnât really have light bleed.
I was excited for this. Now I want to wait a while

đIn today's video Stubbs goes live with System, Performance & Game testing (up to Switch) for the Pocket ACE, a new 3:2 aspect ratio Android handheld with the SnapDragon 8 G3X Gen 2, sent for review from AYANEO.

**This is an engineering sample, and not the...
I already preordered the retro power version.
Will prob get the evo or s2 eventually as well.
Retro one looks cool
I went with a black 16/512
Didn't feel like I needed 1tb internal storage with it having a sd card
Would mostly be used for native android apps
I decided to say âfuck itâ and get the 8GB Black Pocket Ace, since even though they said they wouldnât cover the shipping I still can at least ensure theyâll pay back the rest.
Just buy an rp5 bro đ
Iâve got that and Iâm already planning on selling it because I got the Flip 2 to replace it (and I frankly already think the Flip 2 is outright more comfortable than the RP5), I want this because honestly I like it, and as long as they (or at least my credit card company) are willing to reimburse me for even just the deviceâs price if they donât hold up their word on delivering it, Iâll be fine getting this.
Hah all good, just being a smart ass.. wasnât aiming that at you.. đ
Still get cold sweats about my ktr1
Oh boy, as one of the people who got the early units and immediately returned it due to the fact mine already had a bloated battery from that goddamn poorly-located screw, say no more.
This is beating my previous Pocket Evo results:
And previous Evo geekbench was 1919 single / 5043 multi
if only this screen had a better resolution, this would probably get pretty close to the perfect 3:2 device
1920x1280 would be nicer
2880x1920 would be the perfect 3:2 screen
I mean, it's such a tiny screen
The pixel density is great on the ace
And has enough power to abuse shaders on the lower end systems for better scalling
The Evo has a pixel density of 350 ppi
The Pocket ace has 432 ppi so it should look sharper
Exactly, you get to a point where resolution really isn't a issue at all at this screen size.
Maybe for perfect integer scaling you might want a different resolution but overall it's fine
Is this on a single run? If so, it needs to be done on the 20 minute test to see what sustained performance is like
So like, not even being mean or whatever, just curious. To anyone who wants this, genuinely what's the appeal? I just don't get the appeal over like anything else
I feel like this would have been more compelling if it had been stick top
I wanted this but i have RP5 sat there doing nothing. Im sure i can deal with black bars rather than an aspect ratio screen. Also RP5 plays everything I need. If it were smaller. I probs would have gone for it. But it looked almost same size as Odin Mini from @winter turret stream
Seems like I'd want a pocket micro before this even
Need more size comparisons. Its not quite on Retro Catalog yet
Idk to me it's just hard to make sense of this one
I have micro. Love it! But RP5 if i want a step up
If the RP5 and Odin Mini didn't exist it would make more sense
but as it is it doesn't offer much that hasn't already been done
If you have a black RP5 even more so as black bars blend into shell
or, god forbid, an RP Mini
smaller screen but not dramatically so
honestly I think I'd rather rock an RP Mini than this
Also after the Evo im not keen on jumping head first in with Aya again
I got my micro used
Aya is often a mixed bag but in their defense the DMG turned out pretty good
not all their Android handhelds are horrifically flawed on release
Something happen with your evo?
Thermal issues. Was a whole thing đ
Sorted now after all that mess
Yeah but same issue with thermals. I havenât done thermal fix to my DMG. Still power left on the table really đ€·đ»ââïž
If you pay this much money you expect to get every drop out of the device
3:2 screen
So everything looks fine on it
4:3 and 16:9 have minimal bezels
Really compact device
Really powerful device
Mostly it for me
It has a really nice size and can even run some ps3 on the new emulator
If you want a compact and powerful 3:2 there isn't any other option really
Especially if you want snapdragon
Yeah i dont play hardcore games on my dmg. So yeah đ
A bit smaller than the odin 2 overall
But basically the difference from reducing to 3:2
From 16:9
So they are equivalent overall
Fair enough. If this is your only device i would say go for it! It canât be beat. But if you own an RP5 or Odin Mini it doesnât make much sense. Just my opinion though. I donât doubt it is an amazing handheld though. I just wish it were smaller.
I agree
There is no point if you have something similar already
I don't have a powerful android device (aside from my phone) yet
Mostly lower end handhelds
So from the multiple formats this one is more atractive for me
So it's just a matter of preference
Pricing wise at least the early bird price is basically the same as the equivalent for an odin 2 mini
But at full price will definetly be too expensive
Yeah. If this ticks your boxes go for it! But price is hard to swallow. đ regardless you will happy haha
I now need something inbetween the micro and ace haha
I love my micro. But something tad bigger would be perfect
most of us are just addicts
I have Odin 2 Portal, Odin 2 Mini, RP5 and Flip 2, yet I still kinda want this
despite this screen not even doing great integer scaling
how nice 2880x1920 would be
100% agree. Odin 2 portal, Odin 2 Max, Odin 2 mini, Aya Evo, Aya DMG, Aya Pocket Air, Aya Micro, RP5, RP Flip 2, RP Classic x4. RP Mini đ i better stop đđđ
I kinda want the DMG, but ehhhhh, first my 3 RP Classic should arrive
And people still wonder who would buy this đ
I have too many low end devices
If I had more money I'd certainly buy the more expensive ones more often
Playing with new things is always fun
i thought i was bad đ
(which i am) xD
Thats not even the full list
đ
I had over 100 handhelds at one point
fair đ i did get a 406h this week as i found one for a good price, after i said i wouldnt
One i donât have. I have been trying to stop myself lately. How do you find it?
I have 70
only got it yesterday so still setting it up, first impressions good though
