#Retroid Pocket Classic
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
nah, no "but... OLED", we ain't paying overblown prices with a 4/64 config
Two years ago it would be 200 plus
I remember odin lite being 200
yeah but we don't have 2023 anymore
Yh because we got options
Too many options
if they intended to charge more than $99, they should have at least made it 4/128
and honestly, if it's much more than $99, like $139 or something, they should have just done a SD865 one
you really dont need more than 64gb unless your gonna load up on ps1 games
it's not about needing it, but them cutting cost there, so the price better being appropriate
865 for $139?
If anything the classic is probably going to be more expensive now
That wasnât my takeaway from the comment. More like if itâs $139 they should have just went the whole way and given us a proper DMG alternative (at a bit higher price)
865 for 139 is crazy I can't lie
nah, but at that point I would rather pay more for a proper SoC đ
seems like there will still be a hole in the market for a proper DMG alternative that doesnât cost $4-500
Not without a better SoC it ainât
A stick would have been nice ngl
that's just like, your opinion man
And I'm stand on business
It's better for the price for most people
Not in specs sure but more justifiable to purchase
You donât know the price yet haha
If itâs $99 I agree tho
Can't be as bad the dmg
Well thatâs not the point, there is $99 or giving a proper DMG alternative at say $170 with sd865
Ayaneo dmg in my opinion if they did two sticks I would be like I hear it
If they made it $170 I would want sticks though
Exactly
For this design cheaper is better imo
Man said 170 without sticks you must lost your head đ€Ł
Nah actually If you want to dock it I understand but still
No dock, no sticks. Just premium emulation experience đ
Ps2 and gamecube would be out of the question
Ahhhhh it about that cores
None of this low end crap đ©
Says who?
No SD865?
Bro
Get the 49311
It's obvious
Bruh Iâm not gonna play mgs3 on it or fps, play soul calibur 2, dead or alive, capcom vs snk 2, ridge racer, outrun 2006. I could list like 300 ps2 games
đ
That's just a waste though, why get an 865 to play such a small part of the library
I agree
It would be a bonus. Some of us want headroom to use the best cores and shaders
None of this budget handheld barely running ps1 and shit
I'm just saying if this were to hypothetically have an 865
it wont, its 4nm
Does the helio g99 struggle to emulate ps1
Hypothetically
no, not hypothetical
As in if it were to have an 865, I know it's not going to
Soon
well, let's just say they better stay very close to $100 with this
if its 100-120 im in all the way, maybe even for 2
Same lol
while I would have easily paid $179 for a SD865 SKU, with this SoC, I would already be salty about $109 đ
like, above $100 they should at least put in a 128gb ROM so I don't need an SD card for PS1 roms đ
OoOoO which two
I'm probably not going to be willing to pay anything more than $110 or so
I just want a black colorway
yeah, that would be nice and would make the decision easy
oh one thing i forgot to look out for. is it mono sound?
ah looks like it
hmm... maybe not as endgame as id like it to be
Is the screen 4:3?
When black???
Soon I hope
31:27
I can't lie I love black to bits but this one I'm glad they didn't do black on this one
I mean, the OG GBC colors are appealing, but black would have made my decision easy
also I'm missing Dandelion and Purple
so buying all GBC colors isn't even an option
No transparent black though. Has to be solid. đ«
with a grim reaper logo
maybe thats what Retroid can do for sept devices, make a limited scary colors. black grim reaper with crossing chains on the back, and a dark red demon, with chains.
Insta-buy for me
Plenty of speculation with pricing, especially with the "mini" tax as well.
But if retroid really want this thing to sell it seems like the concensus is about $100. Maybe $99 with a $89 preorder.
Think about it, sure they could put another $30 on, making it $129. But for every person who chooses to not buy it because of the cost is a lot of lost profit and eats into total profit if they had just sold more at a lower price.
In my opinion, this device needs to be low priced and absolutely dominate the market. Give no one a reason to buy another brand, because you may as well pay a few dollars extra for the best low end vertical hands down. Not umm and ahh about double the price for a nice screen over the competition.
https://youtu.be/PyNSAZy8xlQ already found a new game I wanna play on this when we get a price and release datw
Super Mario Bros CD is back! It's a mod of Super Mario World in the style of the NES games, but utilizing the fictional 8-bit Famicom CD add-on system.

âMiniâ tax?
This part of their Mini screen solution.
Oh, man, a million.
At $30 extra a handheld it's still over 30k devices sold, which is a lot. They won't get that on just one product line. Of course more devices sold for lower mark ups too, but even anywhere over the $100 mark you're reducing units sold in my opinion.
So, that's why I suggesting this thing can't go for a premium to be successful, it has to dominate the rest and give zero reason to spend on a Brick or Rg40v.
The info drip is fkn killing me
Does the Flip 2 even have a price yet?
One two flipillion dollars
nah, no price for Flip2 nor Classic, Classic not even having a SoC (officially, albeit we are pretty confident that it is the SD4(s)Gen2
Takes them a bit to dial up those prices after the Mini fiasco.
Please no
your Flip 2 is now $249 and Classic will be $119, eat that
No prices yet ... this is Retroid we're talking about.
Truth, but I mean I am excited so far
Isn't the only thing we've gotten so far since MiniGate broke some vague statement about the Classic's soc?
the bundle will cost $399
they basically released a spec sheet... but just said 4nm Qualcomm SoC instead of giving us the info we desire
it's a 4(s)Gen2 anyway
people pegged the rp5 at 250 before it launched at 200 for preorders, its now 220
so dont overestimate retroids ability to come in under expected price
Honestly I wonder if the controversy will make them want to restore some trust with customers with lower than expected prices
The specs stating that it has a 5000 battery and a 4nm processor has me hyped for the battery life, which has gotten me really interested in purchasing the device. It could replace all of my old linux devices
yeah it could, if it supports linux lol
It doesn't have to support linux to replace the niche that the linux products currently fill. I could sell my MMs, RGB30, RGXXs and put the profits towards the RPC
I would want Linux on this tbh
or at least Gamma doing his magic
can already see 48hours of battery life with GammaOS
That would be ideal for sure
Aspect ratio?
31:27 or close to 8:7
Wild
It is the same screen used on the Ayaneo DMG. I watched Russâs review for that device and was absolutely floored by the quality of the screen
Screen .
If you were floored by the quality of the screw you were watching a different kind of video

I thought Russ was on Youtube and not Onlyfans ...
I'm personally relieved to hear about the quality of the screws
Some of y'all have never stripped a screw before and it shows
Stripping a screw is a skill issue
Stripping a screw is a naughty thing to do
Lol I cannot believe I misspelled that. I was crafting something in Final Fantasy on the side and didnât notice
We like Russ around here
What colour(s) are you all choosing??? Iâm torn between retro and kiwi I think, do like the idea of a black bezel with the oled
Yeah teal would be my 3rd pick
The first teal reveal looks better than the second
I'm hoping it's the darker shade, closer to the gbc colour
The second one is closer to Tiffany blue
On another look I think teal is the one!
Iâm torn between teal and DMG
I'm a sucker for the pokemon GBC. So that might have to be it. Teal would be my second pick tho
But, at this rate, we probably still have a couple months to decide before preorders go up
News in the morning
How long till morning, for us abroad folk?
It's afternoon over there
I'm not sure anyone understands time zones here
My body is ready for some more news
Guys Retroid pocket 4 pro had sold out man
Magicx channel is right over there
News everyday
tbh SD4g2 should be enough for nostick console
Yhhh
might even be enough for some heavier shader đ€
Getting lte in the day for new news đ
People need to calm down. Lol. Maybe have more than one hobby although for some of you it sounds like addiction and might want to look into intervention
I'm pretty sure I remember you also complaining about the drip feed of news a few weeks ago
Gimmie mah cheap plastic vidya devices grrrrr... We're breaking the conditioning...
One time. And I simply stated this is what they do every release. Was an observation not an overreaction đđ»
I think what gets me the most is watching the rise and fall of sentiment towards each of these brands. It's like looking at a cryptocurrency price chart. đ đ
Man I shouldâve put money on crypto back in college, imagine how rich Iâd be
I'm a 'we've moved from being greatful to retroid for extending the refunds to random paranoid assumptions that everything they release in the future will be overpriced and mini owners are to blame' drama appreciator
My wife's friend was explaining Bitcoin to me back in 2013-2014... And I remember just being like, "okay, man, cool..."
He owns a really nice house now.
If prices go up, it'll likely be due to uncertainty in nearly every market.
I'm just observing the reactions, I'll get a flip 2 regardless unless they fumble something badly
It's just funny to see "Geez, Anbernic slow down already!!" go to "Where's Anbernic!?"
Right
And MagicX lied to us!!! to Yooo, this new MagicX!!!
The ebb and flow of nerd infatuations
I get it, it's fun
But also funny
I'm kind of sour on color choices, to be honest. So I'm waiting for reviews regardless.
I wish we got solid grape or solid yellow. I don't have any nostalgia for the Pikachu model.
But I had grape as a kid. đ
I'd get the yello even though I don't like yello that much. It's a cheerful color, full of whimsy and mirth
same here, i had the yellow one and hate the pikachu version
I had the transparent. Used to hide at work and play tecmo bowl
Living in the magicx channels may be a good investment
Says everyone for every valuable stock too đ
I had a shiny blue sp. And a pokemon GBC. I must have had another color as well. Oddly enough I never had any of my consoles/handhelds in transparent plastic. Not sure what it was. It's like it wasn't cool? Or maybe it was never available at launch?
Maybe not overpriced, but I kind of doubt they won't somewhat increase the prices now
I mean they did say the rest of the 1 million they need will be distributed across future products
I wouldn't be surprised if it's not just these, but others as well
So we might not see drastic jumps
I'm not sure, David said "in this class" so part of me is assuming that they mean their more premium products like the mini
But yeah. Unfortunately I think the flip will be upped a little as well.
Possible I'll sit both out. Which is kinda nutty
Might just have to wait for discounts
We still don't know prices yet, so time will tell
Soon, Ayndroid will be the most powerful of them all
There's a wide range between slow down from ludicrous speed to complete stop though.
"Always keep em guessing"
It's not a dual screen though
So I don't think we'll see drastic ds anytime soon
Wake up retroid
Is that serj tankian
Yeah
Sad day today
Won't you leave the price up on the table?
Here you go create another handheld (you wanted to!)
Bork the screen to ruin all the shaders (you wanted to!)
I cry ... when handhelds I want to BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUY
I love that song
TBF, according to reviews I've read, only some of the shaders were ruined... đ
so are we thinking we wont get saturn running on this now?
integer scaling is too!
The toxicity of our community, of our commuuuuunity
I cry when handhelds deserve to die
So I just got an Alldocube 60, and itâs an SD 6 Gen 1 and they said itâs Bluetooth 5.0? Itâs also 4nm.
Spec sheet says 5.2, but Alldocube says 5.0
RETROID! (Retroid)
RETROID! (Retroid)
RETROID! (Retroid)
RETROID! (Retroid)
Retroid, into your hands I commend my dollars
Retroid, into your hands
When will you release the price?
On your site release the price
On Discord release the price
On Reddit release the price, oh...
Qualcomm 4nm
I saw that much
So yeah maybe itâs sd 6 gen 1?
That chip can do 3ds :3
I love how Chop Suey just starts quoting Jesus on the cross, the whiplash of the song is perfect
(Y'all forgive me for the SoaD stuff. Been grading papers for like three and a half hours now and it's probably doing something to my brain...)
Try to actually talk about the classic and then this.
jk lol
we speculated about that, but given they low ball on 4gb RAM and 64gb ROM we don't expect this SoC tbh
SD6Gen1 as a matter of fact is more powerful than the T820/D900
SD4(s)Gen2 is only Helio G99 level
Just tell us the fuckin' chip already, sheeeeeeeesh
Can G99 run Saturn ?
so-so, I wouldn't expect too much Beetle, maybe on 2D stuff and lighter 3D games, Yaba should be fine
genuine question, does the whole retroid pocket micro fiasco influence people's decesion on purchasing the classic?
probably not too much, they may have lost a bunch of pre-orders due to people waiting out on potential issues, but generally speaking the upcoming devices use known screens that have no such issues and reviewers hopefully scrutinize the new devices way more closely now... gotta watch Russ snapping the Flip 2 for 48 hours
i am just imagining russ folding the screen completely backwards now, with determination, as it snaps in half đ
Not me, no
well, I mean if he opens and closes it for 48hours straight it might happen without determination...
The hinges are my biggest concern, so it's a valid test if possible.
not totally dismissing the issue but it's a vocal minority. also not everyone in this hobby is paying attention to the drama, and a lot of people frankly don't care.
I mean realistically speaking he can't really test it to an extend that would simulate 100k open/close cycles
We would need quite a few drinks and snacks for such a vid
Unless he grabs a snack and a drink
Then he can settle in and flip.
48hours non stop flipping action would result in 35k open/close cycles IMO
So approximately 144 hours are needed to fully test its capabilities
what do you want to bet that at least one YouTuber actually runs with this idea and does a live stream of them just opening and closing the thing for hours on end
I can see the Phawx or Wulff doing this.
if you opened and closed it 10x a day for a year thats still only 3650 cycles
i forget what number chris said htey had the hinge validated at but it was either 10k or 100k, both of which are more than enough
It was 100k I believe
The flip will instantly shatter into a thousand pieces on the 100,001th flip
if it was 100k then the hinge will last longer than the battery
Yeah by that point we'll have the flip 4
batteries are replaceable, hinges are not
Not if theyâre using batteries that are hard to source outside of China.
Like what AYANEO and also Ayn like to doâŠfor some godforsaken reason.
yeah i dont expect to be able to replace ANY of the batteries in my devices, when they die, they die
Hmm
Multiply that number by 10
Integer scaling!
Eh, some companies regularly use easy to replace batteries with standard connectors (since theyâre also even cheaper to source).
it would do the community better to riot over batteries and replaceability
theres tons of off the shelf stuff we could be using
I mean... hard to replace at the same capacity sure, but not impossible at a lower one iirc
Let's hope by then it's dual screen
Hell, Iâm pretty sure thereâs âbigger battery modsâ involving some of the RG XX handhelds that literally is just them finding a bigger battery that fits (or even a better quality battery of the same size), that also happens to use the same standard jst connector.
5.5" top 16:9, 4.5" bottom 4:3 let's gooo
Maybe by then retroid will be a household name
You'll see someone like ayn do it before retroid does. But ayn would do it well
Oh yeah I've even see the anbernic sp in videos not even about handhelds
yeah it was reported on in so many non hobby spaces
Savage but you're not wrong. Don't forget ayaneo making it more complicated and charging too much at the same time... oh wait that already happened.
Think they are working on a flip 2.
I don't count ayaneo for anything đ€Ł
I like a few of their handhelds. The pocket micro, pocket dmg, and pocket s but the rest I can do without.
Anybody have a setup guide they like for retroarch crt beam sim? Iâm gonna try it out on this here Ally X
No but let me know if you need help, I use it regularly on my iPad Pro
Make sure retroarch is up to date and use the online updater to grab the latest shaders
still no news? the drip feed marketing strategy for the classic is torturing the possible customers
"possible customers" being the keywords here.
Please announce an all black version as well with six buttons đ«
The best, 4gb handicapped version has 6 buttons, but is the least likely to run Saturn.
Wait
No the 6 button also a 6gb variant
No word on chipset or if it'll have Linux support
Which would be a major factor for me
Of course it does. But that's beside the point
Release. The. Chip. Set.
What is Lauch Time?
More like laugh time
i was fully expecting it to be 20-30 more at least
Absolutely
Right let's play a guessing game
My guess is 6 Gen 1
Potentially could be a 6s Gen 3 if they're going for new chips
ah fair đ
I wonder how es-de themes will look on the classic's screen
124 is not bad though
Whatâs shipping to UK like, anyone know?
4px i think will be $15 or so?
Thanks, not bad
I don't understand is the Saturn one just 4+64 GB? Or is it the other way around: this option being only for the Saturn (and DMG)?
Basically, with the 4 GB model, you're limited to just the DMG and Saturn models
But with 6 GB, you have access to all colours, including DMG and Saturn
They could have made it a bit more clear tbh
Ok, thanks
Tbh
I think I'd like a more colorful option; I had a berry GBC and have a Teal GBP so those two colors seem appealing to me...
I don't see why you wouldn't just get the 6gb model
To save money?
128 storage for all of your retro games + sd card slot for other stuff like music
Fair
I wonder when shipping will start if preorder opens... today, is it?
17th
The pre-orders are on the 17th
Okay, I was too hasty just saw some hours đ
Preorder start 9:30 EST on March 17, and it'll ship in mid-April
A bit late lol
:p let me Rejoice
Well there goes most of my savings
đ
A month late... if history has taught me anything is that there's nothing wrong with being a late adopter đ
Is "launch time" when they expect to start shipping?
The price very nice
No that's when pre orders start
6+128 very nice
Being late helps you. Probably won't have to ship it back or replace parts yourself đ
lauch*
I wish we had an image of just how translucent that atomic purple is, the renders doesn't feel reliable
https://youtu.be/to-lxxxFJg4 sacraligious to post this, but maaaan
The AYANEO Pocket DMG is a dream handheld -- it has a beautiful screen, powerful processor, and some of the most premium design language I've ever seen on a vertical handheld. But all of this premiumness comes at a price, and in this video we'll do a deep-dive review to see whether or not it's a good match for you (and your poor, poor wallet).
...
If this screen is saying anything to me, imma have a GOOD OL TIME
Ayaneo DMG Classic without sticks and touchpad soon
The touchpad was always a mistake
Since day one
Why? It's gimmicky for sure but also somehow cool đ
Should've been a second stick
I was watching a few dmg videos this morning to check the screen out, canât wait for the classic
Bit the bullet and bought one. Overkill but I love the appearance and damn it, I want it in black.
Gonna go ahead and post the price with the pinned comment of Atheonyirh effectively saying the chipset in the Classic.
We put Unisoc Tiger T618 against Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
Basically gonna be stronger than it really has to be
Yeah, in power efficiency, itâs actually gonna be really freaking good, even compared to the T618.
I donât know how the slight overclock will affect it, but it should still be pretty great.
Regardless though, those Prices were legit exactly what I was expecting the range to be for the Classic.
It's a pretty good price, although if they really don't want to mess up shaders/scaling on a device this would be the one haha
How feasible is Linux on this chip?
Should be possible
So I was thinking yeah it's overclocked 4 gen 2 on real performance it will be surpass t820 or d900
They havenât announced anything like that yet, so Iâm personally not too sure. Itâs at least a good bit better than most chipsets since it isnât as completely locked down.
It really doesn't need to be that strong fwiw
Well, itâs nice enough for shaders and such, plus it kind of has to for the Sega Saturn variant if they want to push it into having more games playable on Beetle.
The combo is quite appealing. Makes a lot more sense than the RP5+Mini combo
You sure this beats T820? Quite appealing at that price if so.
Well, thatâs because itâs around the same tier as the Helio G99.
https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualcomm-snapdragon-4-gen-2-vs-mediatek-helio-g99
We put Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 against MediaTek Helio G99 to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
On cpu side
But gpu t820 is winning that
Itâs a bit more complex than that.
Its CPU beats it out, but its GPU is definitely not.
At the same time though, CPU is the more important part for Saturn game performance.
if its truly 4G2, its quite bad for linux
https://linaro.github.io/msm/soc/sm4450
Yeah, itâs why Iâm only really expecting Linux to happen if Retroid makes it officially supported.
This means a limited life for the device as the android software base will likely not be updated. Takes a lot of the appeal away for me.
Since at the very least, they can still effectively work on Linux for it (as opposed to some devices with more locked down SOCâs, so their makers flat out couldnât do Linux support if they wanted to with those chipsets).
so from my understanding this isnt an actual true 4G2 and also one of those overclock spin offs that existed for the aya pocket evo? so maybe driver support may not even be that great, but I guess that may not be so important for the games this device is meant to run
At least android is the superior OS
It's like cpu it would matters performance wise
Nah, itâs essentially meant to be the exact same chip, but slightly overclocked.
Itâs not like the AYANEO Pocket Evoâs G3X Gen 2, since that is the exact same as the 8 gen 2âs CPU, but directly uses a better GPU.
But it's does have chip compatibility issues however emulation wise
It's same
So this one will perform bit better than t820 and d900 on cpu
Yeah, the G3X Gen 2 has issues because it has a better GPU than the 8 Gen 2, so itâs literally a different chip with entirely different drivers.
This should only have, at best, modified drivers that allow for it to be overclocked, but not drivers made for an entirely different CPU and/or GPU since it should still be the same in actual hardware.
Compatibility really doesn't matter for the games it will play
So it's always come to optimizations that retroid needs for this chip alone
And yeah, that too.
That's why I'm slightly worried about anbernic using g2 gen 1 which it's overclocked sd865
The difference between the 2 is that this should be able to use the same drivers as the official 4 Gen 2, they just wouldnât be taking full advantage of what it could do if they didnât release the drivers for the new one.
Like really the biggest question would be, does this run Saturn well.
If you want like gcn/PS2, just buy another device really
For rg557 đ€
Just waiting for it to be announced
I suppose it does mostly depend on how well it can run Beetle Saturn with the overclocks, but it was already expected to run almost all 2d stuff as well as a good amount of less demanding 3d. So maybe thisâll be the push it needs to go for most 3d as well?
And for the most demanding stuff in general, that would still be âplayableâ on Yaba, although it wouldnât be greatâŠ
It's reminds me of goku asking vegata for more power to defeat broly
THEY MADE A COMBO OMG
so flip2 and classic releasing at the same time?
Looks like it, the official announcement doesnât say anything about them being released separately.
does anyone remember how long it took after the rp5 release on retroids store for it to be sold on aliexpress?
wondering if the aliexpress coupons would make it cheaper or same as this preorder bundle deal
Didn't they do the same for the 5 and mini with the mini being released first though?
aliexpress will have a little bit higher price tag, but also gives me time to wait for reviewers to comment on the flip2 hinge
yeah this is what im wondering.
wait a sec. says launch time, not preorder time
Imma just nip this in the bud now.
my bad, its lauch time, NOT launch time
Screenshot for anyone not on the more recent updates.
someone mention embargo on the chip? can't be a new chip right
ya, dont make sense for an embargo if its just the sd4g2 to me
i hope its not some weird gaming custom chip from qualcomm
Well, if itâs just an overclock mod, then it shouldnât be the same as the G3X line of chips (which all are usually customized versions of their more higher end chips that use more powerful GPUâs, like the Gen 2 being an 8Gen2 with a more powerful GPU), since it would only require modified versions of the same 4Gen2 drivers that allow for said overclock (versus the G3X needing fully custom drivers).
it could be this one https://www.qualcomm.com/products/catalog/snapdragon-g-series-gaming-platforms/snapdragon-g1-gen-1-gaming-platform
we have not seen any device from the other two custom gaming chips yet, will this be the first đ€Ł ?
Basically yes
Anbernic is even going to use g2 gen 1 for their next device
So we still don't know soc. Guess that'll decide my purchase
Itâs a secret
for the 6 buttons, which 4 will likely be bind as default if you pick xbox layout in those controller mode settings ?
Feel like the basic model or combo is the way I'll end up going. Still don't know if I wanna be a flip guinea pig
The horrible 4
yeah, we were speculating about this one, unfortunately there are no benchmarks
im doing the 6 button+flip2 (black) combo
probably because it's not out yet, hence the embargo thing
Honestly if I did get the Saturn. Which I really have no desire to, I'd probably want to rebind on a game by game basis. Which might destroy my soul
classic was designed for 6 button
just by telling from teh start/select button placement
if it does feel weird to play 4 face button games, then ill also get the dmg colorway
âŠI mean Iâm just getting the DMG colorway for making it PSX themed.
Indeed. Good finding. It is BT5.0 but is it 4nm ? Active cooling would allow overclock.
i can't find any info on that yet, probably just have to wait a few days to find out
4g of ram seems like a lot for what it is designed to play. What do y'all plan on playing on it?
8/16 bit stuff
Mario Kart Double Dash!!
You can play that just with dpad?
Iâm planning to get the 128GB internal storage for Android stuff just as a âwhy notâ.
Pretty much same
10$ differents
Yeah if you bind Analog Stick controls to the D-Pad. And thatâs assuming Dolphin doesnât just make a built-in hotkey for swapping D-Pad and left analog controls for the sake of people using a d-pad only controller/handheld, like with PPSSPPâs Axis-Swap.
oh my god i didnt notice how off center it was till now
I mean, pretty sure you can map the stick inputs to the d-pad with Dolphin đ
This would make a lot of sense given the embargo. Proper Wi-Fi version as well.
also would be fun, given how the Pocket DMG uses the G3x Gen 2
@gaunt cargo Here we go.
man, Kiwi, Teal or Berry?
is it pocketable
Iâve already made it clear that Iâm either doing DMG to make a PSX theme (not a perfect one, but itâs good enough for me) or Saturn for the 2 extra hotkey buttons.
Is it possible to use as a suppository
Beyond that, itâs purely dependent on what you prefer.
Depends on how brave you are
New review test
Yes but it won't be comfortable. It's bigger than my smartphones and this mockup I made is about half the actual thickness
Given that there's only a $10 savings on the 64/4 one instead of buying the 128/6 one, I imagine they'll sell a whopping three units total
Yes but it won't be comfortable. It's bigger than my smartphones and this mockup I made is about half the actual thickness
âŠYouâre using your smartphone as a suppository?
it's also only two colorways
I want to get it but I'm unsure never had an android handheld before
@gaunt cargo can you confirm? The people need to know
they probably changed their mind about the 4/64 setup after I complained đ
tho I only demanded 128 ROM
never said anything about the RAM
it's a pain to set up but only takes a few hours and then you are fine
Can some tell me if I should or shouldn't
i'm wondering if daijisho works well on this aspect ratio
do you want a vertical handheld with nice screen for emulating 8/16 bit
Those are my favorite games
And I love vertical handhelds
Teal would be my second pick. No doubt. Doubt we'll ever see another handheld in that color đ
Letâs ask Zu, heâs the reviewer who seems to use Daijisho enough to know which themes work on the Cube and Unicorn.
then yes
Thx
No idea why these are so underrated with manufacturers. It's like everyone decided to blow them on $5 famiclones and then swear them off.
it's a shame they don't offer a combo deal for two Classics
Haha. Or an all classics bundle
Preorder starts in 4 days?
How many do you need o.o
I might get a 4 and a 6 and see if it really matters
A 6 is tempting yea
They shouldâve designed it to have the buttons and shell as interchangeable faceplates.
That way you can have all the colors and still only need 1 functional Classic.
Are people getting the 4 buttons or the 6. Are there any other differents other than the number of buttons?
People would have bought a dumb number of swaps. Raise MOQ for production. Reduce cost
gets everything they want
Start lamenting the fact that it isn't also a transformer
Only difference is the buttons, since 6 buttons also uses a different layout for the ABXY buttons.
Things can always be inproved
I only got like 60% of what I wanted
The bundle might sell me tho
That's true
Who doesnât want a Transformer? Thatâs the peak of technology.
Honestly dude. The 6 button looks fucking tight for fighting games lol
No do not use as a suppository
It needs to learn to breakdance or it just isn't worth my money
Not recommended for prison pocket
Can't wait to buy this at my local sex shop
Transformers also do that.
HELL YEAH MORE RAM ON THE 4 BUTTON MODEL
ah rip
The classic needs to learn to breakdance
@late rock leaked footage of ONEXSUGAR
I'm use to the abxy layout but idk if the extra buttons will be worth it for keybinds
maybe i should just get the flip 2
I mean there is a clear difference for this vs the flip 2
Well yeah, the Saturn and Retro Colorways have cheaper options, but you can also get the standard 6GB-RAM/128GB Storage for them. Itâs honestly the first time Iâve seen someone do that for Limited edition Colorways.
Imo I don't think it's worth it cause size and placement difference. It would irk me
It would take some getting used to
Preorder opens on the 17th?
And then if you have other handhelds you'd have to get used to switching every time you put it down
4 button definitely makes more sense for what Iâd play, but cool to have the option
I'll do 4 as well
The big brain would be to Dremel out the holes and put regular sized buttons in the ABXY... Hmmm
Oh 1.30am
Def curious if Saturn people would have been that bothered if they'd done a full sized 6 in more traditional crossed layout
One of you dozen Saturn people weigh in!
tbh when googling for Snapdragon G1 you do get results for Transformers so i get the disappointment
I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean laid out like an N64 controller?
Yeah
I'd be okay with it
Except maybe full on all 6
But I prefer how they have it
Yeah. Ok
I mean I get it would have just been more appealing. Tho maybe the point is to not have an auto buy
Please note that a large reason I'd be okay with it is because there are so few 6-button handhelds to choose from. Beggars can't be choosers.
Oh for sure
It wouldn't have been perfect for N64 either n would have been great for nes/snes/gb
More of a Swiss army knife solution
I don't know if I can set it up this way in RetroArch, but my plan was basically on SNES and the like to have the buttons be like this:
X-Y-X
A-B-A
On Saturn and Genesis, the C button and A button were often interchangeable.
Can use Key Mapper app to do that
Ah yeah, good point
I really might try to Frankenstein some larger XY buttons in there
You guys think the usb-c charging port will support video out? It's the only thing that's missing for me
My guess is we won't know until someone tries it
Once we know the specific chip we can see if it would be possible, but that doesnât guarantee that Retroid implements it I think
To be fair, that may be one of the features of the chipset they couldnât share due to the embargo, unlike the WiFi and Bluetooth which would be a separate module on the moderboard.
wifi/bt for qualcomm chip (and most other manufacturers ' mobile chips) are part of the SOC i thought
That's true they haven't revealed the chip yet
But it's weird tho
Is it possible why anbernic is taking long as well
I was hoping that just means there isn't a dedicated hdmi port
Well no, they did technically reveal it, they just canât publicly announce it.
5$ for preordering while nobody can see an actual working device yet ! Thatâs very very far from beeing enough provided the recurring issues with new models (RP4 screen and triggers, RPFlip hinges, RPM screen recently). That will simplify my choice a lot : 100% skipping preorder.
I just hope we actually get some information
Well yeah, they can only reveal it on the day of pre-ordering. Thatâs how embargoâs work.
I will wait until reviews
GDC is 18th, a minor refresh/rebrand/successor to the G1 gen 1 being announced is not impossible
And also yeah, you shouldnât pre-order it unless youâre completely fine with taking the risk. In general you shouldnât be pre-ordering anything, unless youâre fine with essentially being a paid beta tester for batch one (which wouldnât even guarantee the issues wouldnât be in batch 2 onwards).
Retroid could have showed a working prototype. At this point, I canât tell if the device already actually exists, and surely not if it has been properly tested by someone, Testing is Retroidâd work, not Youtuberâs.
So yeah, donât pre-order it. The only reason Iâm doing so it is straight up because Iâm fine with essentially being a beta tester for only around $115.
Iâd still advise other people wait until devs get their units, not even Reviewers since they have to rush just to get reviews and any issues out before pre-orders ship (which means theyâre likely gonna miss some like with the Mini).
Also might be something we can turn on somehow
Wise. Waiting devs feedback.
I'm okay with an overclocked SD4g2. I'm optimistic that the experience with beetle will be good enough for me
still of course not preordering and waiting for reviews
Would definitely be great, although since the USB-C is on the top, that likely makes it difficult to dock safely without using a dongle adapter for hdmi.
we are speculating for SD G1 Gen1 at this point, due to it matching the specs as far as we know and the SoC still being under embargo
That or SD4sG2
Some docks come with the angled adapter already like Jsaux
Those would also work.
Canât wait to see in hand reviews. Buttons will make it or break it for me lol
Steam deck dock would probably work fine
Or one of those ROG wall wart docks
the 4s Gen 2 is just an underclocked 4 Gen 2, while if there was no miscommunication between Atheon and David shouldn't be it, due to the statement that it's overclocked alone... also an embargo wouldn't make sense tbh
Heh. I have one of those too
Fair enough, as long as itâs compatible enough with stuff tested for 4G2, Iâm fine with the G1 Gen 1.
Although I am a bit confused since I thought the main difference between the 4G2 and 4sG2 was that itâs more efficient for the same performance, not that itâs natively underclocked.
nah just an underclocked CPU
"s" version are alot weaker than the normal models
usually yes, but in this case it's literally just the CPU being slightly underclocked for whatever that's worth
gpu is adreno 611 instead of 613, probably underclocked or lesser "cores" as well.
Seems to be mentioned only in wiki though, but a lower clock for gpu seems likely as well.
Iâm just happy we get a vertical handheld with no sticks and a good screen
Whoâs preordering the classic??
Probably not to save $5. I need to hear in hand reviews first
Iâm torn between the 6 button pkmn and the purple classic definitely getting the gf flip
Gc*
Thanks NexLevel.
what do you plan to play?
The flip will be better for streaming Xbox than the rp5 considering the stick location
For me atleast since I play a lot of ffxiv
Well yeah, the offset makes it better.
I got one of those already
Got the purple portal
Handhelds are retail therapy for me
will they announce classic sp the day after my classic gets delivered
Or maybe a "rp3s*
Nah, but they will collaborate with MagicX to make a single-screen Super SP with SnapDragon G1 Gen 1 and the Mini V2âs 1440p screen.
This would of course be the cheaper and smaller option versus the MagicX Super DS that uses 2 screens, SnapDragon 865, and the Mini V2 screen as the bottom screen to the larger 16:9 1440p top screen.
And both would already be snapdragon variants to the current Mediatek planned versions.
(Yes, Iâm currently trying to get @ebon forum to âsay the lineâ).
Everything you said is slander against the holy smes
Horrible
Not the line I was looking for, but it is even better.
Well well well look at those prices no one said could happen
I believed it would happen, I thought it was nuts people thought the controversy would make them increase the prices
Half of this is correct
But the super SP is ds
Smes sounds nicer than smeds
I want the classic 6 button... But I also know I shouldn't lol
I asked in the other sub, but will games that use a stick (i.e. ps2 and gc) be unplayable?
Yes, cause even with sticks, the chipset wouldn't be able to play GCN and PS2
spider-man dreamcast rahhhhh
dual A78s can handle GC alright
PS2 probably not as much
which is a factually wrong statement
Rah mentioned
Deploy the super sp
just basing that on the experience odin lite owners had
this SoC will handle probably about 70-80% of the GCN library, how much use that really is without sticks may be questionable, but it's still powerful enough for that
PS2 naturally not nearly as much, but I guess the less demanding third of the library would work
the main question is will it handle 4x psx and other shaders, right?
without a stick who cares about GC/PS2 đ
I will soooo map the d-pad to the analogue stick in dolphin and play Mario Kart Double Dash on this đ
gcn on this would be miserable
should easily run at 2x even
Having this chip is actually pretty nice because you could probably play 2d games from ps2 and gc
So the sticks won't matter
should handle. It's like helio h99 performance wise, but hotter xd
I can buy the embargo argument, but not that one does not simply overclock a 4s gen2
Yup, itâs funny how they decided to go with the reasonable price. Oh, but donât get too smug and keep mentioning it.

anyone know how this chip will fare running both the android OS and something like dreamcast or newer arcade games like cave shmups (mushihimesama and beyond)?
We wonât know for sure until we for sure know the chip
Seems like the range people are expecting is still somewhat large
Any idea of a case that would be good?
And I know the orange and blue color is a reference to something but idk what.
Do retroid usually have their official case for it available early?
Idk
Usually yeah, alongside preorders
some pokemon version gbc
I hope this is ends up being good, as I've been looking for that middle ground between the DMG/Analogue Pocket and the MM+/Trimui Brick
It did remind me of Pokemon
Same
Blue on the back
mannn im torn on this thing. i want a vertical that feels more premium than my mm+ but the brick kinda fits that bill. this one is definitely the MOST premium⊠much to think on
I'm torn too. I'll have to think carefully about my whole collection if I end up getting this
If the brick plays what you want, the hardware feels great, why spend the extra money? Because...OLED. And consumerism lol
and i would imagine a significantly longer battery life
You play these for hours on end without access to power? Lol
My brick replaced my MM and this could probably replace my brick. but it wont be as pocket friendly as my brick, and I know I would not want to go back to my MM for that since the brick spoiled me
decisions decisions
I sold my brick within a week of getting it. The mmp still feels better to me.
yeah some people play games rather than sit in this discord everyday
That wasn't even my question đ€·đ»ââïž reading comprehension...
i am a bangladeshi ai chatbot my friend
anywho
this and touch one are the handhelds I'm looking forward to the most right now
also I mentioned before I'm not too crazy about vertical handhelds but I'm on my way to having 3 of them
whats touch one? havent heard of that yet
#1266817458417832110 message
the concept is very interesting to me though I'll wait until after reviews before pulling the trigger
Iâm on the fence about this as well. I have so many ways to play the games Iâd play on this Iâd basically just be buying it for the screen
Which is not a small reason imo
Iâm keeping my miyoo mini for sure, because itâs just such a good size
But this would be more comfortable
damn okay shawty!! whats the use case for the dual dpads i wonder?
And powerful
you turn it around and play vertically for vertical arcade or ds, it also has l1 and r1 on the sides if you notice
also good for wonderswan, as niche as that is lol
dude magicx is doing some really unique stuff i fuck w tht
yeah it's cool
Touch one is the most interesting device Iâve seen in a while.
Flip is pretty cool too
This one is very basic, but hopefully premium
Itâs funny most people here are saying the pricings very good but when I go on reddit or twitter I see a lot of price complaints on the classic
Ig two different markets
No stick does suck tho
idk if its the photo but the og look more yellow and the RP look more orange
people can have some pretty crazy expectations for something
Yea
U get a really nice oled and build quality with probably really strong battery life
i think it's good and i always find retroid stuff overpriced
For the extra 50 or so dollars
And better power for shaders and ps1 upscale alongside possibly Saturn emulation
But you basically can run BSNES, mGBA, Beetle PSX, and other older systems really well
I wouldnât buy it personally cuz itâs not really my kind of device
But itâs really just competing with analogue pocket
Which for accuracy, is awesome for me
And Ayaneo dmg
Because ur using more accurate emulators in comparison
The need for hardware emulation probably is lesser compared to comparing like a miyoo mini plus
Tbh, for what it offers, I think the Pocket is still overpriced. Sure FPGA and all that, but iirc it still doesn't have save states for all cores, some features are still missing, and i've heard mixed reviews on the d-pad
I think retroid price to performance is quite good but the problem is their price has been creeping up because of the demand for better chips and parts
Yea analogue pocket always felt overpriced
ESP cuz gb/gbc emulation is practically perfect as is
well i'm european so we get prices that are 20-40% more of what retroid says
Itâs really just nostalgia
Yea that makes sense then
But I think in comparison to competition theyâre still competitively priced itâs just that they lately been costing 200$ for those snapdragons and now were back to affordable options
these will be like 150⏠but i guess even that is pretty fine if it's as good as a d900 and with super good battery life
Iâm sure theyâll be using this chip in the future for budget friendly oled devices too
Cuz they donât sell the 2s
And need to find ways to be relevant since better chips are coming at diminishing returns
Also something else about Snapdragon chips that is becoming more relevant (especially the older/low to mid teir chips) that I can justify the slight increase in price for is the added bonus of Linux support, which opens the door for stuff like Portmaster and native Pico-8. Xbox, Wii U, and PS3 too as a bonus
Yea, sd865 supports it
Wii U and PS3 have android emulators now and Wii U emulations getting better by the months
Okay Iâve been out of the loop but this seems like a reasonable price for what you get.
Though imo if it was confirmed to support Linux it would be a no brainer. Android for the systems Iâll play on this sounds unappealing.
Yes I know that Retroid name is a play on Android just saying. Still considering picking one up for that sweet OLED.
Switch emulation actually has been getting better on android lately too
Citron updates have been targetting android more
I was struggling to run brothership before but nowadays I can mostly play it at full speed on handheld mode
And apparently the rp5 can run botw at pretty much full speed now
As more emulation gets optimized the need for a sd8 gen 2 becomes lesser and lesser unless you want a bit less tinkering for problematic games
I wouldnât be surprised if they tried to find a snapdragon that was Linux compatible
Classic with pico-8 support would be great
running pico-8 through winlator is an option too
a good one? debatable but it's there lol
what systems on the higher in do you think it can run?
If itâs coming with any sort of snapdragon it will run everything designed for the dpad format
Pc ports/ nds/ 3ds/ ps1/ all the retro consoles
It will also run smoothly well past that, but as said the Dpad can only take you so far as for controls
Without a joystick controls get very weird, manageable, possibly unplayable. But it should run, PSP emulation has been smooth since the Retroid pocket 2
Which for some people (me, I am some people) is a bit more worth it lol
Switch Emulation is getting into a nice place, especially with NCE
nice seems like a great pick up for me rn i only have a MM v4 i love it but it is real small
This will be a Huge performance upgrade đđœ
Also, with the 8 gen 2, you can pretty much run most games in docked mode np and it gets easier as optimization come along
true i've never had an android emulator. anything i should know?
GC/PS2 will be the cap, and even then its like 70-80% of those libraries
Most of them around 2x for GC
Watch the android setup videos from RetroGameCorps!!!
But no sticks will be your greatest enemy
so 2d wii will not work?
Russ' videos are you biggest friend
that sucks dick
love his vids
They probably will, but i'd keep my expectations low with some games
Wii should play, but any games that need the sensor input are better handled by a joystick
one game that came to mind was kirby epic yarn
Yea obviously itâs better
Sd865 I have to play with more settings and drivers feel more finicky
Really
Also stuff like origami king doesnât run the best (22-25 fps) because I have to disable NCE to get it to boot
Odin 2 lets it run 30
But overall rp5 is no slouch
It runs most things well
Oh, im not downplay the RP5 at all
Kirby return to dreamland for switch doesnât work on rp5 but does on Odin 2. Both games have same graphical problems as echoes of wisdom
Oh the switch emulation
But yea as citron gets better the gap will be smaller
That thing will probably stay the King of the Midrange for a while
Itâs still not a large gap but itâs enough where you can see improvements
Yeah yeah
For stuff below switch I barely feel it if filling out 1080p is all u want
Odin 2 still isnât great for switch and the high native input lag of Odin 2 mixed with the generally high input lag of yuzu is not a good combo
Rp5 much lower input lag makes it way more bearable
So playing like smash ultimate is still the better experience on rp5
But only when games run well
Has this been answered: do we know if the Classic will have a touchscreen?
It likely will since it shares the same screen as the Ayaneo DMG
Oh yeah, has Citron figured that out? The high input lag issue
Not really but on rp5 the input lags mostly pretty bearable
I only notice it in smash ultimate but only cuz I have 5k hours
But the input lags nothing that bad I can still do some pretty frame precise shit
Just not native, which is funny cuz switch has bad native input lag too
Playing something like Celeste is way easier on rp5 than Odin 2
I ended up not using switch a lot for Odin 2 because of input lag, itâs better on the portal prollly
3ds emulation also has not the best input lag but itâs better than yuzu so far more tolerable on rp5
I also wish 3ds/switch had better sleep modes when running in the background on android. Itâs not too bad at 1% per hour drain but on anything else for rp5 itâs like 1% per 8 hour drain so itâs the difference between lasting between multiple days and multiple weeks
Would be excellent to have fixed with the retroid pocket flip 2
Is the 2022 one the latest?
Yes
Oh definitely better on the portal, especially with 120hz refresh
For sure
But idk how to feel about buying something basically steam deck sized for android
This right here
I got my Portal in hand, lolled at how fkn chonky it is, and sold it right away
nice piece of kit, 120hz oled is beatiful, but something that big for Android just aint happening for me
steam deck sized is an overstatement tbh, like I would more compare it to an Switch in terms of overall size
like, not even close
That looks bigger than a switch oled but smaller than a steam deck
Itâs a lot thicker than a switch iirc
Can u show the graph between it and a switch?
It's not as big as a Steam Deck, but it's for real not much bigger than an Ally X
Yea
It was around ally sized
Not as heavy so prolly more portable
But what I was saying is it was basically around the size and basically the price of a pc handheld for far more limitations
U get better screen, temps, and battery obviously
But rp5 just screams more âemulation onlyâ
With the ability to stream as a bonus
it's literally 19mm difference
also Odin 2 Portal is 3mm thicker
tho the damn thing is way more comfortable
You can buy a handheld PC new for the same price as a portal ?
Last I checked it was around $300 even less if you got the EB IGG
$400 for the Portal Pro, but yeah the lower RAM/ROM SKU was only like $319
but you can grab am used Deck for less
$319 retail price is reasonable for what it is
sure you can get a deck cheaper but it sure won't be the oled one lol
I always thought so even though I ended up canceling, couldnât justify getting basically another Odin 2 just bigger with OLED
it's $329 actually
1080p oled screen, and much better battery life though but tbh it's still hard to justify
the 4gb/64gb models only have saturn and dmg colorway
all colorway have the bigger size
not just for the 4/64?
do we know anything else about it
like chip? i wasnt following it until i got disappointed by the flip2
price and that the SoC is equivalent to the SD4Gen2
$114 for the 4/64
$124 for the 6/128
easiest 10$ upsell ever
also for reference, the SD4Gen2 is roughly the Snapdragon equivalent of the Helio G99
source
and also.........i hate verticals
why do i want this 6 button thing
with no analog
how to play n64
albeit we will get the actual SoC only when pre-orders go live, as they are still under an embargo - which is why we are speculating on the SD G1 Gen 1
thats atheon, a mod in retroid
but where the analog
WHERE THE ANALOG
WHERE
why you no give us analog haiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
your 3 weeks late for this rant
tru
Can I ask what disappointed you about the Flip 2 , I still am too with Retroid giving us tiny Switch style analog sticks over Sliders ( yes Im a weirdo but realize that )

Steam deck so comfy tho. That and Linux out the box. Tho Linux on Odin 2 has got me excited
I dunno. I think most people just associate sliders with being a kid and gameboys
actually its funny cuz i never found the deck to be very comfortable
rog ally and odin 2 are super comfy tho
But the flip 1 sliders were really nice
deck i think its too big so it lowkey strains to play even on the lighter oled model
I guess I just never hold it up much while playing. It's always just in my lap
But the grips. Control placement. Stick placement. And touchpads whenever you have to venture into the desktop are just
That said I also have large hands. Its why the Odin 2 isn't as comfy for me. Even tho it's still more comfy then say the rp5
I sold mine only because itâs so big. Itâs pretty comfy considering, I just prefer smaller handhelds.
Awesome device otherwise though and Iâll pick up a steam deck 2 if itâs slimmed down
Yeah. The couch experience is just A+ for me. I'll gladly take a flip 2 whenever I go somewhere
That's kinda the Classic for me
I love my Odin 2, but it's definitely my "Play at home" device for when im not constantly on the move
Especially for the games I play on it
Yeah. I'm honestly a 4 device person. Deck for couch. Then I usually have a portable horizontal and vertical (flip 2 and probably Classic). And then I almost always have a micro (Pixel 2 right now) for those emergency situations
Like when I'm at the beach and am only rocking the speedo
For me, I have a three system setup
DS/3DS for clamshell games, Odin 2 for high end, and RGB30 (soon to be Classic) for low end
ngl, whoever designed the control layout for the deck needs to be slapped tbh lol.
Tbh, I actually get the layout tho
sticks are way too far inwards on the device tbh. and realistically the pads are kinda.....there I guess? but like. I dont see a realistic reason for them to be there. but valve has a hardon for touch controls.
like that nightmare of a device that was the steam controller lol.
the entire layout of the controls
also no watermelon
You know how much shipping a watermelon with each device would cost?
i demand my fruit with my device
Customs would have a field day with fresh fruit coming across the border
Perfectly understandable, color choices not so much personally but can agree with the first point
haiyaa nephew customs why so stingy
you want fruit is it?
you take you take
Maybe they could hide the real shipments in actual watermelons too cut the tariffs some have to pay
yea i prefer smaller handhelds for sure but every other pc handheld has shit battery life and no oled and no steamos
well a lot of them have tried to improve battery life like the ally X or they gave it oled
but its rarely a combo of the two
i'd get an ally x if it was oled
and depending on how good bazzite is
The more I think about the six button variant the more tempted I am to sell my lower end Anbernics and get this as my ultimate N64 and below device.
So I know what I would be getting myself into does anyone know what Retro Game corps meant by retroid pocket's "rocky releases"?
its not
coz no analog
They have had some issues in the past.
RP3 had alot of hardware issues which Retroid knew about before launch but they shipped anyway.
RP3+ was a big improvement on the rp3, but releases like three months later and gave everyone who bought a 3 major buyers remorse
RP4 and RP4 pro had big issues with the triggers at launch
RP Flip 1 had a bad hinge design in early versions
RP mini screen issues.
Usually retroid is pretty good about fixing devices after a month or two, but with all the issues you it is not typically recomended that you buy a retroid device on release.
Of course this recomendation to wait comes with the further issue that by the time Retroid has fixed issues with their devices they usually have a new device on the horizon
- RP3+ was a dumpster fire as it released only 3 months after the RP3
- RP Flip had massive hinge issues
- RP2S launch went suprisingly smooth
- RP4 / RP4Pro launch was plagued by green tint issues on the screen as well as breaking triggers and unoptimized fan curves
- RP Mini besides the flawed screen had a totally wrong color sent out which later got fixed and refunded
- RP 5 got a 2 week delay because of Android 13 complications
the classic is a BRAND NEW never before seen SOC
not just brand new to handhelds, but it seems an actually new product from qualcomm
so theres that
I like how you didn't include the 2S, goated handheld, ngl
arguably retroid's best release
I dont mind playing with a dpad, honestly if Anbernic or anyone made a rg40xxv with six face buttons, the same single stick, and a stronger processor that would be my endgame device for the medium end of emulation.
how do you play the n64
if it needs both
just get the bundle, so if your classic breaks, you can still use your flip 2
you don't
thats my point..............
Yeah I was just listing troubled device launches, 2s was my first proper emu handheld that I got without any major hiccups (I tried ordering a rg280m from amzon twice and got a rg300, and rg350 but no 280m.)
that's such a good a handheld to start the hobby with
especially at the time is was such a good value
especially if you compared a to a 353m
Were there any games on n64 where you needed both the stick and the dpad? And either way I know that you can set a hotkey to switch the dpad to act as either or, and in most games you dont need to switch too quickly.
that's right actually
you can go that route
not sure how fluid it would feel though
How would you use both sticks and the dpad? đ€Ł
Oh NVM misread lol
Was like...what
It really was the best device for a decent chunk of time, I played mine to death, beat metroid fusion, Rogue squadron, and played a decent chunk of windwaker on it.
and it was the first handheld ever with the improved HE sticks
many people somehow think Odin 2 did introduce them first
enough 2S glazing
where are real life pictures of the clurple
OLED is king
SteamOS too obviously đ
2, 4, and 5 are legitimate reasons to be concerned. 1 was shady but not a bad product. 6 is a nothing burger. Still 3 out of 6 isn't great
What hardware issues plagued the RP3? I don't remember that at all.
Iâm gonna get 6 button for sure. And if it feels awkward for normal games, Iâll get a dmg colorway
it's going to feel awkward
So just order two right away thenâŠ..
6 button Iâll just use internal memory and only store fighting games
I'm just going to get 4 button since it can't run beetle saturn fullspeed (most likely)
so much better for ps1 and snes
