I just like a clean android system. I had to uninstall all the apps and settings on my ambernic and set it up how I like anyways. Clean system w/ play store is how I prefer or at least minimalistic

E5 plus is a good device.. but id recommend the e6 plus all day with the touchscreen. Unless you want a vertical. Android with no touchscreen is just too cumbersome and at times unusable without a plug in mouse around.

Drastic, ppsspp, retroarch Nightly from the buildbot page, redream/flycast, and maybe a pico8 emulator if one exists on android. Dolphin mmjr/mmjr2 and nethersx2 as well, if you feel confident about those emulators

Most reviewers have no issue side loading apps, but end-users can be very vocally against it

Both have advantages and disadvantages

Biggest advantage to the E6 Plus is the option to use Android, even better with the 2.4ghz version at the moment since that has a fully functional android 13 build for it.

But if the 5Ghz version had full Android 13 support I’d be happier

Screen isn’t exactly miles apart (with trimui set to 50% saturation as default) the E6 plus has no saturation control. The TSP has a little better contrast too.

Next is the Vita sticks vs switch sticks, I prefer the switch sticks all day long.

All of my e6 plus stock Linux cards had the option to disable the LED’s l think it’s called LEDJoyConf or something similar it’s a text based UI you select always off with arrow keys and Start button to apply

The console will then reboot and then the LED’s will be disabled in linux

the android file manager doesnt work with controls and when you gotta fix something or use the android bar its kinda tough luck

when you got your permissions, files, emulators, and a dash setup like daijisho.. it works. just on the fly changes arent really happening without a mouse OTG

I mainly use it for kodi and normal emulator stuff. The E6 Plus is a better android experience

also.. even tho E5 Plus main added feature difference is rumble... i cant get it to work. Find that being a bad trade off for losing touch

with that being said.. working in a shop type environment... Its a good performer for its price, having kodi for media, and its kickstand makes it very convenient

although I'm having another issue ive gotta resolve first. My pc isnt showing the sd card reader in my finder window. It shows up in when I look at disk management so idk whats up

run diskpart

and clean the sd card

open command prompt and type diskpart

then enter "list disk"

see the number your sd card is on the list then type "select disk #" with # being the number of the sd card your system numbered it

then type "clean"

after that.. open disk manager and create a partition and format to create a drive. then you can flash it

make sure you enter the correct number of the sd card so you dont destroy data on a wrong drive

here is an example of how this system of mine is at.. since i know the sd card i have is 1.5tb so its number 5

diskpart is a powerful tool tho.. make sure you dont wipe the incorrect drive

right click it and select new simple volume

Make sure you have the correct image for e6, try both old and new display, but if you got the console recently, probably is the new display. Use raspberry pi imager or balena etcher to write the image, use a different SD card brand. Try all the options and we can see then

I’ve also been playing around with JelOS on this device, performance isn’t great on it I would say comparative to the chipset. Nestopia had some slowdown and there’s a weird version of Drastic included with the firmware that is all in Chinese and slows to a crawl on Animal Crossing.

luckily the original drastic emu does exist and seems to run much better than the modified version

you do have to change the controls a little though, since l3 for some reason is mapped to “touch” the screen, when the right analog moves the stylus

I think abxy might be swapped on the drastic emu too actually

1. SSH into your device
2. Show all hidden files in your SSH interface (I am using Termius)
3. Create a backup of /storage/.config/drastic/config/drastic.cfg
4. Transfer the drastic.cfg file from /storage/.config/drastic_chn/config/ to /storage/.config/drastic/config/drastic.cfg

the battery life is generally good in the tablet version of android 11 64-bit. I just leave mine in sleep mode all the time when not using it. both it and my Fire8+ can sit unused for days and not move a percent

Yea.. ordered it on 11/14 so it was close. First time returning on AliExpress so far it's pretty smooth. Kinda sucks cause this handheld was very convenient on propped up media streaming. I was actually about to post a video of playing No Man's Sky on it till it went south

Now gotta find the original SD card and reset it back to default.. glad the screen is manageable than sending a device back with my account logged in.

thanks I solved it, for now I use android11 ​​64 with daijisho, and kaos but the dophin and aethersx2 emulators are very slow.my e6plus is defective and the sticks don't work but I can still use it for emulators

And yes.. unfortunately the rk3566 isn't powerful enough for PS2 and gc/Wii beside a few light games or using a bit of frameskip

I found 4 images of the SD card for the e6plus, the first jelos (kaos) does not have the presentation video enabled even if it is in the image, the other three are from gamemt but two have no music in the menu and the third has the video and music does not use all the space in the rom but only 5gb leaving 50gb unpartitioned. but in all of them there is no way to load mp3s and use them in the menu . thanks anyway

I downloaded a version modified by the Russian guys taken from x55 and although it is poorly optimized it allowed me to download new frontends, there are many and really well made, I prefer the batocera versions with the carousel, I also managed to change the music in the background but I applied everything to the new version of July 20th taken from gamemt which has the initial video and is better optimized.

explanation to modify the jelos frondent step by step . step one download this image https://webshare.cz/#/file/TPqYalYIWa/gamemtos-rk3566-x55-aarch64-20241227-img this image allows you to download and install the various themes for the E6plus but it's quite slow. but to be able to insert games and modify the other images you must use disk genius as in the other images. after downloading the theme, put the SD card in the reader and launch diskgenius, in the game-internal\rom folder you will find a themes folder, copy it and save it on the PC. inside this folder there are all the themes you have downloaded. now prepare the SD with an image of Jelos with the initial video, I used this GameMT E6 Plus (20240720)after placing it in the console and installing it, put it back in the reader and using diskgenius copy the themes salavat folder on the PC to the SD card in this location storage\config\emulationstation\ the folder is already present but overwrite it. now when you put the SD card in the console you will see all the downloaded themes

I like @river zenith . I tried taking apart my e6 plus and broke it. I’m waiting eagerly to get the e6 max and love what he is doing. The dpad, 2 gig of ram and not having the play store was my biggest complaints. The e6 max will fix all of it. The only thing it will be missing is native button mapping. Ergonomics are fantastic.

Hello all. I’m new to the group and looking for advice.

I have an E6 that is running the chaos firmware. After flashing the image, I can no longer see the drive in windows.

It works in the handheld with no issues, but I’m not really sure how to get any files onto the card.

I could ultimately just ssh, but I’d much rather just use the SD card to drag and drop at will. If it’s possible at least.

If you don’t know which chipset is using, then don’t buy it as are at least 5 different ones with same shell. Under android there are no wifi drivers so is useless. Also the port is usb 2.0 so take in account the limit of the speed

the other sd card slot is for an sd card holds games for both android and linux

on my e5 plus, there is an app for android that boots you into linux, and a menu for linux that boots you into android

Interestingly the e5 plus doesn't thermal throttle as much as the miyoo flip.

I've also had to unlock higher ddr speeds, it was capped artificially at 780mhz. Now at 1056mhz.

This benchmark of Sonic Adventure / DC usually tests the limit of this SOC, getting nearly full speed which is good

Well you're giving specific PSP games, whereas that GoW demo is a benchmark for the whole platform — that's why to me this just looks like an incremental upgrade. As in "still doesn't play the entire PSP library, but plays more of it than RK3566".

And, well, kinda hard to get excited about this. N64/DC/PSP has been a line we've been dancing around in this class of devices for way too long.

Also, IIRC there is currently little Linux support for this, so we're talking about an Android handheld. There are at least two companies working on cheap PSP-capable Android devices right now (MagicX and Helegaly). So again, very hard to get excited.

I’m excited. There isn’t a good touchscreen Android device around $100. The Rp2s is fantastic but it’ square and has a too small of screen, and isn’t 16x9.

The only real competitor that will play all the n64 catalog and all Dreamcast (which I assume the e6 max will)

Closest was any of the other rg3566 devices but none had the ergonomics of the e6plus or a touch screen

If they fix the dpad, and have screen mapping, and release Android like one of their later builds, it will be great

So yeah, it looks like the E5 Plus can hit DDR speeds of 1056Mhz, whilst the E6 Plus can only do 780Mhz. I just tried different loaders on the E6 Plus, the 1056Mhz fails. Doesn't boot.
