Flipper as USB MIDI device

Sometimes I get bored and I do different musical things. Today it was a driver that turns flipper into a USB-MIDI controlled synth.

Current target was to create usb-midi driver, sequencer or something else is next.

this really lets you build so many things, you might even drop fz in an eurorack setup

hmm it didn't work for me, "api version mismatch", maybe because i'm on cfw

compiled against api 7.0, vanilla fw 0.70.1 (lastest). if you run a different api version lemme know and i'll try later

yeah, idk, vanilla still has 0.70.1 as its latest tag

a popular CFW seems to have 0.70.2

you'd have to ask them, idk, and sadly, as they will keep deviating from vanilla api version (and/or fapps will be updated) the apps will keep breaking, and you'll keep having to rely on them for updates for all fapps

I think guido also provides faps for some CFWs

hmm i should probably reinstall official firmware before the app api difference gets too big

i don't remember the last platform like this (low level embedded like flipper and with a diverse app ecosystem and many users). maybe games in old school phones, java MIDP?

it's not that bad, abd i don't wanna hijack Zlo's thread, but eventually CFW end up playing catchup with OFW, one release today means all apps released for today's OFW are incompatible with CFW, fix, rinse repeat 🤷

that being said, i'm this close to making an orange $200 usb-to-midi adapter

We plan to fix this situation with the official application catalog, where ONLY open source applications will be added. This way we can recompile them for each release and not break compatibility as often.

oh yeah, the idea of a repo came up a bunch of times, @left fiber snatched flipperfaps.com specifically for this purpose. would definitely be nice to have an official repo
