Motherboard refuses to see 2 known good drives

I just finished building my new nas in the Jonsbo N4 and have run into an issue that just seems odd to me, it is an 8 bay NAS enclosure with 6 3.5 inch bays and 2 2.5 inch bays. The 4 3.5 inch bays on the left connect to a backplan and all drives on that side are connected to the b550 chipset driven sata ports, the ones on the right are connected to the ASMedia onboard controller sata ports, for some reason anything connected to sata ports 5 - 8 is not dected by bios or the OS, in bios you can see the ports listed but nothing shows connected to them, if you move the drives from the right side and swap them with ones already there they are then seen by the bios and OS so the drives work, it is just for some reason they are not seen when plugged into ports 5 - 8, there is no NVME drives installed on the board, I am just lost as to what could be causing this. If anyone has any idea what could be causing it not to see the drives connected to ports 5 - 8, I would love to know I have troubleshoot this down to it having to be something with those ports at this point not sure what else it could be

Also all the drives are 10tb Western Digital Ultra Star HGST_HUH721010ALE600

I'd boot to BIOS with no drives plugged in, then plug a drive into one of port 5-8 and listen for it to spin up.

Some bios disable ports if nvme are used, check the manual if this is the case

Your ports might be turned off

Thanks, I can feel the drives spin up when plugged into any port on the 5 - 8 side, but still does not show in bios, I will continue digging through the bios to see if I can find the setting, there is no NVME plugged into the mb as I wasn't planning on using one since I am running unraid, I do see in bios it mentions an exterenal sata controller but the options are greyed out, thinking that may be related but not sure at this point

well they will spin up if powered on but if the bios is blocking them it's just wasted electricity

you gotta find legacy devices

in bios

and enable it

its not reading them cause the way they're formatted is considered a legacy device

that is only if they are mbr, if they are gpt you can leave it on uefi
