Hello, I have been attempting to update a Fabric server that uses both the Terralith and Nullscape datapacks from 1.21.11 to 26.1.2, however the server refused to start, until I used one of the world_gen_settings.dat files i cound in another support request. Unfortunately that seems to have changed the seed (to some funny results). Anyone know a fix?

yeah, the reason why I edit everyone's files individually is because the world seed is stored in that file, so you cannot just use any random one.

If you took a backup of your original world_gen_settings.dat before you replaced it with a random new one, send it here and I will edit it. Otherwise, hopefully you have the seed saved somewhere else, rememebr what it was, or have a backup of your 1.21.11 world? (at any point, just to recover the seed)

As for the newly generated chunks, you will manually have to remove those, I recommend a tool such as mcaselector

i'll send the world_gen_settings.dat from the world before i updated it, thanks!

ah piss

hang on

issue is the only other version of the files i have is a server backup, and i can't seem to find the world_gen_settings in it

if it's from 1.21.11, world_gen_settings.dat didn't exist yet - so send the level.dat file (in the world folder), and I can recover the seed and make you a new world_gen_settings.dat

will do, thanks!

ok, rename to world_gen_settings.dat, and replace. of course you'll have to prune those newly generated chunks or restore a backup for a smooth world, but otherwise should be good to go
