#can't open map after installing terralith mod

so i recently updated my server to 1.20.1 and switched from BOP to terralith, since it's far better in my and my friends opinion, i removed all the chunks containing the BOP biomes with MCA Selector, leaving only the vanilla chunks where me and my friends built our houses, but now when i try loading the map in minecraft it gives me this error and i can't play it. i must specify that if i create a new world everything works fine, also i'm on forge single player (playing multiplayer with the Essential mod)

i would recommend asking BoP - im not quite as familiar with that error. the issue is not you adding Terralith, but you removing BoP. see what answers they have for removing the mod from a world

#

if they dont have a good answer, i have a jank idea to fix it, but its best to see what they have to say first

#

thanks for the tip, i'll come back with their answer, so that you guys know for the future if somebody else have this problem

#

ok so an update: i mistaken bop with biomes you'll go, other than that they already responded to me... bad news

#

they told me to create a new world with same seed (wich is... odd, since they were vanillachunks i wanted to keep, on a world that modifies the world gen, but ok) and use world edit to port the houses...

#

it's something around 100 chunks whith a donut-style mountain chain with our houses that extend INTO the actual mountain....

#

if you know some other possible way please tell me... they did mention a possibleforge workaround but they forgot how to do that

i read the conversation, and have absolutely no clue what they're talking about

broken monolith
#

where do i find it?

#

forget about it

#

was searching in the wrong place

  • in the world folder, delete level.dat and level.dat_old
  • rename the file im attaching to level.dat
  • put my file in the world folder (aka replacing the old one)
  • start your world
#

(and take a backup if you havent already)

#

no guarentees itll work, but if it does, its better than option 3 imo

broken monolith
#

trying rn

#

hey honestly if it doesn't work no worries, you already are a BIG help

#

quite honestly never seen such fast and helpfull mods/helpers on mods forums/discord

broken monolith
#

i think we'll start from scratch then... no worries

what are the "javd void" and "jamd mining" dimensions? are they still being used, and if so, by what mod(s)?

broken monolith
#

those were 2 mods i now have deleted

glossy totem
#

are you using bclib/betterx mods still?

broken monolith
#

no

glossy totem
#

assuming that means you reset the nether/end?

broken monolith
#

yes

glossy totem
#

perfect, hold on a sec

#

and if you havent already, def take a backup

#

if it crashes again, send the logs

broken monolith
#

ok now the world actually loaded but the game crashed after 3/4 seconds

#

i think it's my fault tho, let me try again

#

crashed same time/way as before, sending logs

#

now the game crashes while i'm in the world tho

glossy totem
#

for funzies, temporarily uninstall sodium and try it again

#

(btw for future reference, using the same world, but removing/adding a bunch of mods and swapping loaders isnt typically a great idea)

broken monolith
#

can i ask you something while we're at it?

#

if i create a vanilla world with a specific seed

#

and load only the chunks i want from that vanilla world (the spawn area)

#

can i use terralith world gen in that world by simply install the mod?

glossy totem
#

yes, but you will have ugly chunk borders between spawn (old) and terralith (new) chunks

broken monolith
#

i can live with that honestly, a bit of terraforming and i should be good to go

#

exept if generates a mountain 1 block away from a plain biome

glossy totem
#

yeah, it can be the roll of the dice sometimes

broken monolith
#

if deleting sodium doesn't work i thing i'll go with this methos honestly

#

i don't want to waste anymore of your time

glossy totem
#

if it doesnt work, i can let you know the 3rd option i had in mind, and you can decide what you want to do

broken monolith
#

it works now

#

but why does sodium crash only in that map?

glossy totem
#

not entirely sure - i think it has to do with the fact of there being "artifacts" left over from the old mods, but its a wild guess

#

if you're really curious (especially since it would be a huge shame to use sodium), send the log over to them and see what they think

#

(because @reef shoal was too lazy to put it to the website earlier)

#

i can help with most worldgen troubleshooting, but sodium and other mods is definitely out of my league

broken monolith
#

i understand

glossy totem
#

line 2597 is the sodium error, if you care

broken monolith
#

am i right thinking that what you did with the level.dat is deleting all the biomes you'll go reference and resetting both nether and end?

broken monolith
glossy totem
#

so, ig yes, to sum it up, i reset the nether/end

broken monolith
#

damn in like a minute

#

hey listen, thank you... you saved me a lot of pain in the ass and most importantly time

#

sorry for wasting your time but i really appreciate the help, again thank you

glossy totem
#

not a worry, i edit the level.dats all the time (hence when the file i sent was named level.dat (122) - i got too tired of deleting the files)

#

but im glad you got your world working. hopefully the sodium issue is figured out so you'll be able to use it

broken monolith
#

at least i have the world back as you said, thank you and have a great day/night (it's 1:23 am here the fuck i need to go sleep asap lmao)
