No.
The API is optional on server-side

The animation playing must be done on the client

If you want, you can install the mod on server-side to have format information but the registry is client-side only.

Perfect, is that I'm having some problems getting the animations to work when I enter a vanilla server, but then I must be doing something wrong, I thought it was something from the API
