Body:
After 8 years with PHP/Symfony (+React/SQL/AWS), I’m seeing fewer opportunities as companies shift to modern stacks. Need advice on a viable exit strategy.

Key Concerns:
1- PHP roles are shrinking at scale-focused companies
2- Worried my skills are becoming obsolete
3- Want to future-proof my career without starting from zero

Ask:
1- Which in-demand stacks align best with backend/system design experience? (Go, Java, .NET, Node+TS?)
2- Should I pivot to cloud engineering (AWS/Azure) or DevOps?
3- How to rebrand PHP experience for modern tech interviews?
4- Critical skills to learn in 2024 for immediate market relevance?

Open to backend, infrastructure, or architecture roles. Survival stories from ex-PHP devs appreciated!

Node+TS or Node+JS, JS/TS. Php will still be a plus for any company with still some legacy stuff

#

People 100% wont care you worked with php in your last job

#

Companies shove people into new stacks all the time

#

If you disagree you could check the companies who are based near you and see what their job ads say. If everyone near you is c#/.net you could just do that instead. But you still might find yourself writing js/ts
