Since I assume the same exact problems exist between the Java 8 and 17 detections, as this one has discussion already, I'll post it here:

Another location that java might be installed for linux users, mainly devs, would be ~/.jdks

The java installs from inteliJ here weren't detected

similar issue here, jdk17.0.1 (oracle) not detecting at all most of the time (sometimes it detects it)
and only one (seemingly randomly chosen) jdk8 version showing up during detection on windows

Note that on Windows the JDK paths may be saved in the registry
(Here for Zulu)

Could be related so I post here:
After install and launch got 3 separate warning windows telling me that Java (dll) couldn't be found.
I assume it's related because I also use the Temurin distribution (Java 17)
