Yeah they just continue to spawn and stack on top of each other. Eventually the server crashes.

In one stack Ive seen around 10 - 15 in any map. And on Astreos they spawn in the hundreds in the bee cave.

I haven't even started playing yet, I'm so discouraged. It keeps saying "Connection Failed" every time. I even formatted my PC. I play on Steam.

Hello! I have a question about setting up custom spawns in a private ASA server that I have with my friends.

We play on Ragnarok and have been unable to admin command spawn in a maewing. Other dinos haven't been an issue, just maewings.

I know custom spawns are a thing so I wanted to work around the issue that way by having wild maewings spawn naturally in certain biomes, but I'm not sure how to go about that. Would anybody be able to give me some tips/guidance? Thank you!

**Edit: for reference, I have hosted private servers on the past and am able to adjust stats and other things through the game's ini files. I'm just struggling with this as I've never done it before

Yea. "Potential Fix" tells me they have no idea what so ever what is causing the issues.

My server is having 100% CPU use on one core almost everything when I'm inside a cave and the re-spawn of dinos is supposed to happen. Exiting the caves clears up the issue. I guess they made the re-spawn code more aggressive. It's not giving up trying to re-spawn when it fails because player is to close.

the swamp cave on the Island for example, apparently, it's been broken for a while now

Yea. Good if they fix re-spawn in single player. But not good that one thread gets so backlogged because of the 100% CPU usage that you can't even move/dismount/attack stuff. Even just exiting the cave is difficult because you get warped back all the time since the server is lagging so bad.

I wonder if the fact that the server code is using so few cores is a request from Nitrado? Makes them able to run more instances per physical server without them interfering with each other! Otherwise making the code more multi-threaded would be the easy way to make it faster seeing how the number of cores in modern CPU's has increased.

Multicore system schedulers usually span single-core usage across cores too, they'll switch core usage around unless you pin the process to a specific core. ARK is definitely more performant on higher frequency cores, but it does use more than one core.

To cultivate R plants you have to hit them to collect the meat, but without damaging structures you do 0 damage so it's impossible to harvest them (when you've planted them in your garden) In the wild there's no problem harvesting them because they are wild.

Things like this is why I dont run mods and try to modify as much as I can within the game. Too many moving parts, if mod dev/ game dev can break something over the course of multiple updates making fixing a headache. also your relying on the mod dev to keep up with both game updates and thier own updates to maintain stability. Make a copy of that server and run it no mods and see if it crashes.

What happened is that we tried the standard way with the Steam invite and the standard connection from the menu. After that failed, we tried Hamachi and Tailscale, which also didn't work.

I've never played non-dedicated over internet. But for a dedicated server you need port forwarding on your router. Other wise there is no way the router would let anyone from the outside connect to your PC. I've never used any of those Hamachi apps that sets up a VPN since I find it easier to just forward the ports in the router.

The worst part is I already talked to my internet provider about opening the necessary ports, but they charge exorbitant prices and overpriced plans just to open the IP address. I think I'm screwed xD

It's a non-dedicated server, meaning the host (me) doesn't have access to my router to open the ports, with the only options being the standard connection via the menu or VPNs. However, when the guest tries to connect, they receive a message that the connection to the host was lost.

A provider is going to be INSANELY expensive if you want all maps. You're best off taking any old machine, dumping 128gb of ram into it, and serving it at home, and maybe piping the data through a cheap VPS with a static IP. It won't be perfect, and it'll be a bunch of work to set up initially, but it'd be multiple hundreds of dollars a month otherwise. PER MAP, Nitrado wants $210/year for 20 slots (the minimum they offer). There are currently 9 released maps that are 'official' (or approx $1800/yr)

I've encountered an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error, specifically KERNEL32.DLL!UnknownFunction []. Causing the server to crash immediately after advertising for join.

The fix: Adding -ForceRespawnDinos to the startup arguments, then removing: -StasisKeepControllers, -UnstasisDinoObstructionCheck, -UseServerNetSpeedCheck from the launch arguments. I'm not sure which of these 3 was the culprit, but I'm not willing to mess with it further.

Definitely not a fun bug, it occured with the last 3 updates (78.51, 78.52, and 78.53). 78.52 and 78.53 were quite literally added BACK TO BACK as one server updated to 78.52 while another managed to be on 78.53 (only minutes apart). So if you're experiencing similar issues, I hope this can be a resolution.

Look up the Ark ascended wiki for dedicated server setup. You need to open the ports on your router/network to connect. All servers middle man thier connection through EOS so you wont even be able to connect to your own via LAN

Hey, I have a problem that just started happening. My friend and I wanted to play Ark and joined the server. It started with all the experience settings, etc., being reset. Later, when we joined the server, our characters were restarted. We had no items or levels. But when we went to our base, our old characters simply burned down. The dinosaurs and other structures were intact. We tried to recover the dinosaurs from the tribe somehow. We managed, but we had to reset the game. i haven’t had that issue but i would try the settings. maybe look it up on some forums. i know if you have hit your dino world limit thats set in the server settings then you can’t tame/breed anything. but it sounds like a bug for you

There's a mod called "RandomConfigs" that will allow that. I use it for element xfer, tributes, artifacts, etc. It'll also allow you to adjust titan respawns, and some other cool stuff.

Hello, I’m having an issue with a Non-Dedicated Session.

I am hosting a non-dedicated server, and my friend suddenly cannot find my server anymore.

We were playing normally for several days without any issues.

One day, my friend suddenly could no longer find my server in the server list.

Even using Steam invite shows “server not found”.

I already added my friend’s SteamID64 to the whitelist.

Renaming the server does not help.

My friend’s server search interface cannot find it at all.

This exact problem happened before.
After not playing the game for several months, the issue disappeared and we could play again normally.

Recently, we started playing again, everything worked fine for several days, but then the same problem happened again — it feels like after playing for a while, my friend is forced to be unable to join for a period of time.

Has anyone experienced this issue with Non-Dedicated Sessions before?
Is this a known bug, Steam networking issue, or something related to session caching or NAT?

These two config files will house different configs. You might need to scan through them to see which ones you need to modify.

Astraeos uses different loot crate tags from Rag. I'd share mine but it uses modded items that I'm not sure your server uses. but the supply crates are SupplyCrate_Level25_Astraeos_C for the regular blue.

If you're asking if it exists as a setting, yes. You could also just type it in DinoCharacterStaminaDraingMultiplier=1 (0.1 for 10% of regular drain or 2.0 for twice the stamina drain rate for example). I would have shared a picture but this silly discord doesn't let you.

I'm having a huge issue on Astraeos (and possibly other maps) where, due to limited player engagement, any time anyone runs across someones base that's been put into stasis and it loads it in - it causes MASSIVE hitching on the server... I've already removed plugins and reinstalled the entire map, but I don't understand why, since no errors are displayed. If I remove -nohangdetection from the start parameters, the logs just show HANG DETECTED!!! That's it, no explanation as to why...

Since it's only this one map with the same plugins and mods as our other stable maps, could it possibly be a defective player file or defective savegame? Can this be checked?

I have two copies of the game: one on Epic Games Store and one on Steam (using Family Sharing, no second license).
Both PCs are on the same local network. I want to host a server on one PC and play together: one player on Epic, one on Steam.

What I tried:
— Installed ARK SE Dedicated Server from Steam and launched it with:
TheIsland?SessionName=DNVT?MaxPlayers=5?listen -server -log -useallavailablecores -high -NoBattlEye -crossplay -epiconly
Server is visible in Epic, but joining always results in timeout.
— Tried hosting from Epic client (Non-Dedicated). Host can play, but Steam client cannot see the server.
— From Steam singleplayer I tried console commands:
open <ip>, open <ip>:7777, open <ip>:7777?listen
Most of the time nothing happens, sometimes the game crashes.

I just need any working solution where one PC hosts and both Epic and Steam clients can connect.

Beacon Omni isn’t expensive and he charges because he puts an insane amount of work into the programme. It receives regular updates and is highly maintained and support is available in his discord. Why shouldn’t he earn from something he’s worked so hard for.
If you don’t want to pay you can learn to type your own spawn container codes out (all info is available on the net) or if on ASA use a mod, such as B+ spawners, that allows you to add spawns to other maps.
When adding to Ab though - make sure you have enabled foreign dinos in your settings or they won’t spawn.

I have a cluster on Ascended and when I try to transfer character from Rag to Scorched (same settings litterally copied and pasted) it will not let my character transfer and wants me to make a new one. But I can go from Rag to any other map and my character is there.

Hello, i am hosting a Rag server over nitrado to play with my friends. For 7 of us everything works fine, we all run NVIDIA graphic cards. But theres one friend that runs a AMD garpic card with the newest driver, and cant join the Rag server for any reason. Im unsure if its based on the graphics card or not, but thats the only thing thats different in between our setups. We tried a lot of things from reddit, like changing settings on the server or at his ARK instance, but nothing worked for now. On other maps we had on the server like TheCenter everything worked fine, but now after the switch to Rag he is unable to get past the character menu, because his game gives him an instant black screen, when he wants to spawn. Is here anyone experiencing the same problem, or someone having a fix for that?

The reason why I asked this was because I added a snow related dino to an entry that stated it was for the snow biome in Fjordur. Instead of spawning it in somewhere like Fjordur’s Jotunheim, it spawned it in the area where Shadowmanes spawn in Asgard. The spawn entry names make no sense, so if there’s any other way to figure out the spawn entries (perhaps via a debug cmd or something) that would be nice

Look up the -usestore -converttostore and -backupplayertransferdata flags. The players are part of the map save in newer versions of ark. You have to use these flags on unofficial with the map save from nitrado most likely.

Seeing how they only disconnect on death, my guess is terrible Internet connectivity. They'll need to diagnose the problem themselves.

They had 2 ISPs, but perhaps the NiC or ethernet cable is to blame. Did they perform speed tests to verify they're receiving advertised speeds? What are their speeds, where are they located in relation to distance? Are they using a VPN? Can they ping you without packet loss?

No one can give you a solution based on the information provided, need to diagnose yourself first.

check your back ups. you will need to extract their profile from a back up. thats one of the few nothing you can do moments, if someone transfers and rolls back the best you can do is maybe find thier body on the previous map and rstore a profile file from backups.
edit: incase you didnt get the main point here... back ups, back ups, back ups. everyone thinkgs "nah I'll be fine nothing has happened" till it does. That was me many years ago.

Hi, i've been playing with a friend, we are in different countries, i enabled port forwarding and have been hosting non-dedicated session everytime, what happens ocassionaly, more often recently, she gets disconnected out of nowhere, can't join the server, always timeout, even when invited directly invite doesnt have join button, if she tried right clicking me and join game, also doesnt work. only thing that fixes it is me restarting my full game and server. What also happens she sometimes gets a crash, saying smth like steam networking, even after restarting steam she cant see a single session in public session list, until i restart my game invite her, she joins and after that she can see public listings again. I'm very confused with this. It's very inconvenient to restart game every single time this happens, especially since it happened 20 times in last 2 days, and being disconnected in the air, makes it diffiocult retreviving otter, etc. Any help would be appreciated

only way to play ase from what I know is to turn on the preaquatica branch by rightclicking ase on steam, going to properties, going to game versions & betas, then clicking preaquatica

Guys, I need help. I’m not able to get my server online so I can play with my friends. I’m using Ark Server Manager to play through Steam, and I noticed that the command line looks like this:

“… -nosteamclient -game -server -log …”

Where can I remove the -nosteamclient option? I feel like that’s what’s preventing the server from appearing in the unofficial servers list.

That is part of your start params, is it ASM for ASE?
