It’s not a random amount and it’s not a pattern. It’s a set amount. If the first imprint gives 9 percent than every imprint will give 9 percent. Actual imprint amount is determined by server settings though.

It means that a dino you raise gets a buff of extra melee damage and resistance depending on how well you imprint it. As the babh grows it will want care like to be fed, cuddled, or go on a walk and if you do that you increase the imprint. If you get a max imprint (100%) you get resistance and dmg increase on that dino

Dododex can show you what animals drop certain resources (even items skins) but things like mammoths, megatherium, wolves, bears, and so on drop pelt. You can also tame an ovis (sheep) and use scissors to trim their wool and you can use that to make fur armor

theyre very easy to tame, even easier to find, will eat spoiled meat, have a low saddle level, can tranq out doedics and ankies in a trap since they take a lot of tranqs, and whatever else you want to tame early game and can produce regular tier eggs.
