The numbers I saw when I just tested the Direbear now was half as effective as others, but still very effective. -- ~95% for a level 1, which is better than cooked prime.
Need to re-test some other dinos because the in-game Algae numbers aren't quite lining up with what's in the devkit. Which is probably why other taming sites have crazy wrong calculations like saying a level 1 direbear needs 258 algae instead of 13.

You can always do a manual server restart to see if it pushes the update.

pretty significant gains from the engine update, also just looks a lot better. there is another big upgrade coming this year

the only real fix is removing the library from the drive, or using a junction/symlink to redirect it to a fast one

How do I raise Desmo babies?

I know what the blood wants. Back when I was playing ASE, I had a Maewing for basically every Desmo (because there was occasionally a problem where the blood triggered a CD on blood throughout the entire inventory, which meant that with 5-6 Desmos, one would starve because the CDs prevented it from eating).

Now I do it the same way:
Maeguana -> blood -> 1 Desmo. I go offline—there's no rendering because I'm currently playing alone on the map—and come back after x hours. Desmo is fine. I've already tried adding meat. But baby Desmos eat a lot of meat, so you're supposed to raise them with blood. I also tried 2 Maeguanas with blood for one Desmo. Again, no success. I also tried adding a Gigantoraptor. Negative.

A while ago, the feeding behavior of dinos was changed – it's no longer like it was in ASE or ASA at the beginning. I have a feeling that this is now causing a problem with Desmos. I have no problem with any amount of Veilwyns, Elderclaws, Dreads, Gigas etc. I can fill the whole base with babies – as long as there is food, everything works. Except for Desmos 🙁

You won't encounter this problem on official servers, because there's always a player flying by within rendering range, which means the babies get their food differently. So it probably only affects private servers WITHOUT Nanny Mod 🙁

I just started with ARK ascended and have a Problem. Maybe Somebody can help.
Im in Single Player and No Dino respawns. Already tried "destroywilddinos" and flew across the hole map. 3 hours later still not a Single Dino in the map.

ye i dont disagree with either of your statements, but with how reality goes this was just inevitable, just the same way fully ai created 0-effort mods are becoming a real thing now.
once you put monetary motivation into anything, it will get tainted :/
thats why i probably feel so "oldschool" about mods generally, they once were outside of companies reach and solely made by fans of a game, simply for the fun of modding. so i kinda see everything after that as just a slippery slope 🙁

youll have some genuinely great modders and theres nothing wrong in supporting actual great work no question - but once its mandatory the whole dynamic and how others will act changes

Genuinely, 90% of the time you can answer anything regarding performance with just 'It's ARK.'

I think the actual answer is that each update has the patching process go over every single file which in terms of how long it takes is the equivalent of reinstalling the game without actually reinstalling the game.

I wouldn't mind it so much if we didn't regularly get patches every other day.

WildCard has to either fix the issue or switch to a small amount of big patches instead of a large amount of small patches.

I'm no expert on the coding process, but like, they gotta come up with some sort of solution.

So for whatever reason, I'm getting massive FPS drops on the unofficial maps (Ragnarok and Valguero). After a while of playing, my FPS starts to tank into the single digits and sometimes the game even crashes. Bizarrely, this doesn't happen on official maps; I get smooth framerates there no matter how long I go.

They should give all the future map builds to who made Astreos, seems they at least know what they doing.

I got a Malwym teleport out of the arena the 1st time
Second time boss was giving 1 shot to players with max armor and 1k of HP, no damage on the gear so she ignored the armor and went straight to your HP

Also if you are with 10 players she takes 56 damage per hit, for a game that is made of tribes doing it with a big tribe is impossible

Better than the launch version where WildCard forgot to add a limit to the stacking DR which made her invulnerable if you went in with too many players.

Is not taking in consideration the money you paid for the DLC and we are in Feb now and still cant defeat the boss, to top that nothing has been made to compensate the players for the hours of farming ( or attempting ) to gather all the 400 sigils you need to summon a boss

Lol xD i tried the boss first time yesterday. We had no problems.. all 5 of us have survived.
But today.. no way... the beam took 10x times longer to destroy and 5x more neophytes xD

But we play on unofficial server with settings near official and only QoL mods

WC did not learn the lesson of Palworld, very soon another game will come and wipe a bunch of players until there is no one else available to tolerate this treatment

I doubt it. ARK is one of those games that is niche enough for big studios/publishers to not bother attempting to replicate and on a big enough scale that most small studios cannot achieve.
