nvidia's "optimize" thing is garbage and should never be used for any reason. all it does is replace the game settings with a premade file that is not "optimal" for your hardware or often anything sane, and it can severely break games

on asa if you want to do mutations, you do not need to wait for the final stats to start mutating, since it is a seperate stat you can move over to other higher base stat dino's, and most of the time a 40+ is very nice, but for stuff like bary that doesn't have oxygen i would look at 50 points+

I have a 4050 laptop and can run Asa nice with low graphics. My 3080 desktop looks amazing at 60fps and got most stuff on epic or high.

I’d say Asa since steam you get two hours to see if you can run it. ASE if you want to play without mods then sure but in the next two or so months when they drop the dlc, all mods will no longer work and most mod authors aren’t going back to fix them.

any further updates or solutions for FPS lag? r.DynamicGlobalIlluminationMethod 0 has solved a lot of performance related issues for me, but once in awhile I get random lag spikes which require me to log and then it's fine again, though once it lagged out, and when I cleared a drop it suddenly returned to normal, which was weird. It just seems like really random situations or effects seem to cause the FPS to fall apart.

when you get a persistent fps drop, try hitting f11 , this puts the game in windowed mode and my fps recover fully, you can keep playing in windowed mode or manually set the game to fullscreen again.. kinda works for me

We've received confirmation from WildCard that the latest patch passed successfully and there are no known issues at the moment.

If you're running into problems with a specific mod, there's a good chance the mod author still needs to update it for 5.5 compatibility.

Soo apparently you can get rid of the "unharvestable" rocks and trees by deleting your gameusersettings.ini and let it regenerate. There's apparently some ghost code in there from before the update. This should also solve some issues, where people report lower fps after the "performance" patch. Keep in mind that this will wipe your settings though, so back up the important lines. Bingo^^, I did a fresh install. Manually unsubscribed from all mods and deleted my GUS settings and I can get in and play with out major issues. I get the server lag with rocks and trees in my base, but it goes away when I leave render and come back usually. Periodically it will lose ability to access structure inventories, ill reconnect which will either crash me or not. If it does I reload and it's fine. I'm playing for hours at a time without issues atm, still not great but I can do stuff. With the servers dead I'm getting a grip of giga and carchars

My AMD GPU systems seldom crashed, now as bad as nVidia. I had enough after 8 crashes ~ 2 minutes apart. has enough. shut down the servers. going to play Dune and check back in a week or so. lots of world failures and low level issues. AFAICT many of the Wildcard event mods are all still broken. I haven't been able to find any acknowledgement anywhere that Wildcard is aware and fixing them. I can't update Winter Wonderland, Fear Ascended or Summer Bash on PS5 ("This mod is not compatible with the current game version") and cannot load (or even find) Eggcellent Adventure on a Nitrado server. I dont think they are the same thing to compare the official event mods to any mod. I also am not certain all things work the same in the mod outside official mod event times so you dont get the whole experience

Trust me, as hard as the beginning is, its the most funniest. Enjoy every second, try to level up, build a wooden or even stone building and walls/spike walls around it, and store your items in the building. That way you wont lose evrything. Then try to tame a parasaur or even a raptor or iguanadon. Just keep leveling up, opening new engrams(skills) and storing your valuable stuff in your base. Put beds in the base and around The map, they are respawn points

Since the forced update on june 7th (v5.5), the game has become technically broken on my system. There is a severe memory leak that causes FPS to drop rapidly to 10 FPS or lower, even in single-player or empty maps. I’ve tried all known fixes (reinstalling, updating drivers, launching with different options), but the issue persists.

This is not an isolated case — many users are reporting the same problem. The game is currently unusable, which violates the expected quality of a digital product I paid for.

I have over 2000 hours in ARK, and I’m not requesting a refund due to regret. I’m asking because the game is now in a non-functional state after an update I had no control over. This qualifies under EU consumer protection law as a valid reason for refund.

Please escalate this to a human reviewer. I’m willing to provide logs, screenshots, or videos to prove the issue.

I have a question, I got the PS5 edition on disc, up til now all the free dlc was included with the patch and could play from inside the game, but I am seeing the free dlc purchases on the PlayStation store under addons. Ive been trying for 3 days. Uninstalled the game reinstalled it. Deleted saved data, deleted mods and let the server download it. Tried downloading individually and still nothing. I get stuck at 97% for hours or it says verifying mods no sessions found every time

There's possibly other mods impacted by this issue outside of Dino Depot, we're working on a heuristic to identify the ones that are broken (they show similar patterns) and then will be applying a fix, in some cases it might also require a recook but I believe most of these mods with that specific issue preventing clients from joining servers with them or starting them up in SP will be resolved in the next 24 hours, with the remaining stragglers to come shortly thereafter

Its every one of them for me, got that on single player and every inventory I access on server shows as empty. Wild card messed it all up in one go.

It only default adds them to map when they have food but you can go into the tracker itself and make them show up in the same way you can track like your vehicles or tribemates

A few people on my server have been able to load in and a few haven't because it says its installing it then kicks them back to the home screen
