It costs developers money to push updates to consoles. Whereas it doesn't cost money to push updates to Steam. So it's financially logical for them to iron out the bugs before releasing on console. They know that console players are eager, and they're eager for sales, so they're working on getting it out ASAP.

And no, for everyone asking, it's not out anywhere yet. Ignore the trolls. And no, there is no ETA (other than "Today", per the announcements) or confirmation that it did or did not fail certification. Likewise, there is no preorder, per Community Crunch 381. I hate to say it, but I'm almost certain the delay is the certification process on one or both consoles; whether they failed cert or whether they're still in the hopper at Sony and/or Microsoft, it wouldn't matter in terms of what they can do to put it out today on consoles.

I actually suspect they're just still in the queue for cert rather than having failed the certification; past experience has taught me that console cert can take up to two weeks, and they posted about the cert build being submitted not all that long ago.

(And platform owners also don't generally tell you when cert's going to be done -- it's why a lot of game companies will submit for cert well ahead of their planned release date, and then fix any last-minute stuff in a patch as quickly as they can after launch. So if they're waiting on cert, there's probably no way they can give a firm date on console launch unless they just hedge their bets and go "sometime in November.")

I mean, I hope for the sake of our console brethren that they do have some eleventh-hour Hail Mary play to get the console version out today/tomorrow, but all past experience tells me not to hold my breath on that. :/

Wildcard telling us everything is good and "On track for a end of October launch" and then telling all console plays (Which is definitely a large majority of their players) they will have to wait another month is such a scummy thing to do. People mentioned that it would most likely be delayed but they continued to say their will be no delays and then on the same day as the trailer gets released say "Console launch will be for November". The console players have every right to be upset. We were given the short end of the stick. I truly believe we were lied to. I believe without a doubt the devs knew there wasn't going to be a console release the same day as Steam, yet we were constantly told otherwise.
