Every time I think I'm calming down on my opinion of the lunar biome I try to do a mission there and my hatred is renewed

Between all of its everything and the enemy spam holy s*** it is a miserable biome and not in a fun way

i first got an any level bat just so I could fly in the big cave to get better bats. Agro them and fly them over your moschops (i had five) and get them to pick up a moschop. It takes around 8-12 moschop pick ups to get to 100%, then you let them pick you up and start the tame.

And you have to whistle the moshops to move around or the bats won't pick them, they'll just attack them if they're standing still.

Its easier to find them on val, they spawn at 3 spots, 1 spot is in the area west of wyvern trench, another southeast of the mountain near centre of map with large unmineable crystals, and the last area is just across the nearby river to the southeast from there
