Characters do get lost on occasion. If they do get lost, bad transfer's most commonly the culprit.

I've had to restore characters several times on private clusters. Process is largely the same. Most of the time it's just a slight rollback, if anything. But almost all can be recovered readily.

For the story mode bosses, nice high levels with good saddles will suffice. You're looking for a 150 male and female, if possible. 140s and 145s can be productive too.

Hey Y'all, I'm having an issue and I don't know how to resolve it, IF resolving it on my end is possible. When I open the replicator, the transmitter and even my own inventory, I get that black "REFRESHING ARK INVENTORY" and it won't go away, effectively hijacking my game and I have to close out the game. Is it on my end or on ARK's, and if on ARK's, are they aware of it and are preparing a fix? This is driving me crazy, and from someone who plays roughly 60 hours a week on thsi game, not being able to play is extremely frustrating. My addiction is in full force withdrawls at the moment! Any suggestions?

Do you have tek? Use your tek helmet on night vision. Everything is crystal clear and in black and white. I also use an awesome spyglass to find the friendly from the angry, and keep plenty of element on you for your oxygen refill. Use the ascendant weapons. I have a maxed out ascendant hatchet that kills a lot of stuff. I also have a few watertames to protect me, on follow, but also on neutral.

ok go to the mod store and uninstall any mod there, turn off your PS, press power and hold until you hear a second beep, use a controller plugged into console and you sould have an option to clear your cache, then restart, before going on server install the fear mod from the mod store first and wait for it to download. please don't skimp on having free space available to accomplish all of this. then come back and thank me

Fear ascended may not be your problem. The latest patch that made changes to mod space deactivated the game license. Navigate to the ark icon and click the options button on your controller. Reactivate license. This will now allow your console the read/write permission it needs.

PS5 users having issues with "mod storage".. go to your ark icon on ps5 and click options button > restore license.. the latest patch that changed mod storage removed the license and the game cant access mod storage resulting in "not enough space" errors

It's not about control at all. Many don't know how to properly host servers without problems. An unreliable host can cause massive problems for people, especially if they don't keep backups around. There's a level of knowledge involved, and so many people want shortcuts.

It's just difficult to social network with 9+ people about a server merge, and it's not always that simple. They can take DAYS because people need to migrate from one host to the other. It's not cut and dry.

well, it would be nice to see lower population servers. i've noticed the lesser the population the better the ping, but there arent any available for the newest map. you just have to play with one hundred people. which normally i'd love, but damn the ping really gets out of hand

theres ways to host without nitrado thats sooo much cheaper, jsut takes a bit of time to set up initially. i can put a server up in about 5 minutes flat now though, so dedicated hosting is the way to go all the way.

Yup, hosting servers isn't the difficult part, it's staying reliable and fixing problems with haste. Many folk just want a playable server, but the moment you get into custom inis, you've lost the majority of people.

Not everyone is tech saavy or patient like us 😄 I've had about 7 players that had no idea you could adjust breeding time when they hosted. You just can't rely on the average joe unfortunately.

theres a fine balance between pay to win and server viability. the money for the servers arent just coming out of thin air. the way i see it, you have everything you could want from official, plus mods, and admins who show up. ark as a whole can be classified as pay to win in general considering DLC.

It's not just the server costs. Some server owners/renters also have the support pages subscribed. For the server I'm on, each map costs roughly one hundred USD every month, so effectively it would take 10 donations at $10/each to pay for one map. Thankfully, mine has benefits for donating, but I'd still help out even if they didn't.

Ping is also awful on EU servers that ran better before, seing 350-500 is rather the rule than the exception since event started.
before that it was hardly below 100, even though it is less than 400km to the data center

The issue from my testing is that they're shoving so many people into the server causes the server to have an incredibly low tick rate, which increases ping naturally because the server has too much to do

And the remedy they did somewhat recently to 'fix' the ping issues was to absolutely dumpster the net replication range so dinos pop in from 40 feet but each individual client has less dino states to track from the server
