Long story short, if you have performance issues on an unofficial Nitrado server, reach out to our customer support so we can look into it. For officials, reach out to Studio Wildcard (and they'll reach out to us if required).

As I've mentioned before at some point, ARK is a game that lets users do wild things that aren't nice to server performance (shout out to my pve homies) but we do what we can and regularly procure updated hardware.

understandable and i do appreciate the response, however i seem to remember someone mentioning nitrado only allocates 16GB ram to ark ascended servers, surely this is nowhere near enough and may be part of the reason why all maps are somewhat consistantly in the high hundreds of ping when the steam page suggests to run ark its a minimum of 32GB needed to be smooth

its recommended is 32GB, and usually recommended is the minimum to run the game smoothly from my experience

also surely if a server is not allocated enough ram then that can contribute to high lag / backup

We do not limit to 16GB, not sure where that info comes from. We do not artificially limit the RAM for ASA servers, and if your server uses a lot of RAM, that's primarily our problem, not yours.

So there is a lot to the ping calculation in-game. But if you actually have performance problems (lag, rubberbanding, that stuff) please reach out to our support team.

It doesn't always have to be server hardware, it can also be interconnecticity between specific ISPs and a myriad of other things, so we need to investigate if something isn't going great.

if you get no error message, it is almost certainly not a problem with the game, at least not a bug. most likely severe corruption, or hardware/driver issues

Valguero is using 5gb ram on my single player with nothing the rest of my pc is using another 5gb. That's 10 when it's not doing anything. Get one minor spike or have a firewall running and that could push it to 16 in a heartbeat.
