#HOW DO YOU GET MIRE MEMBERS IN YOUR SERVER??

Growing your OS can take a long time! Here are some tips that can help you get new members:
- Having an active OS can help encourage more people to join as your current members will recommend it to their friends if they enjoy the atmosphere/community of your OS.
- Encourage your club/team members to spend some time chatting in the OS. This breaks up the general rhythm of small talk: “Hi, how is everyone? - Good, you?”, which can lead to conversation dying since no new topics are introduced. For example, you can start a conversation about the tv show you’re watching or the game you’re playing, and have your members jump in to keep the conversation flowing.
- Including any open events you are hosting near the top of your self-promo message can be a good way to get people to join.
- Do your best to have a consistent posting schedule on your club/team’s social media accounts (IG, TikTok) and make sure your Discord OS link is easy to find on your profile pages.
- Include your OS link in your Discord profile and make the effort to chat/participate in other open servers. If people find you friendly/interesting, they’ll often click on your profile to find out more about you, and may be interested in joining your OS from there.
- Consider organizing collabs with other clubs/teams. This can be a great way to cross-advertise between your two communities and help both OS’s gain new members.
- Join as many other SSO open servers as you can and self-promote every day. Try to alternate the times of day you self-promo so that more people potentially see your self-promo message depending on when they check Discord (for example, one day self-promo in the morning, another day in the afternoon, and another day in the evening).
- Try changing up your self-promo message every couple weeks. This could be a change in format (how the information is presented), change in style (fonts, emojis, spacers, etc). People may not be joining your OS if they’re quickly scrolling through the self-promo channels and your message doesn’t catch their eye.
- You could try hosting Nitro or SC giveaways. Keep in mind that this is a less organic way of finding new members and may result in people leaving your OS once the giveaway is over.
Keep in mind that when you see an OS grow really quickly, it could be due to the owner(s) being from a well-known club/team or being popular SSO content creators. Most open servers take years to get to a larger size, so don’t get discouraged. Keep on working at it and your OS will grow gradually over time! Good luck!
