local park? if it was some random forum on the internet, the chances they were all in the same area, very slim

maybe the error he got could've something to do with the hacker group? Like for example that they explicitely wanted him to join, hacked his computer, manipulated his python instance to throw this error which will lead to him finding the group?
That would make more sense (e.g. that they selected someone local) and would make it a bit more interesting
