If your main focuse was the wheel, lower your camera equal to the height of the center of the wheel but maintain the offset angle you have, and if it was a photoshoot ask them to angle the wheel slightly 👍🏼

What’s the best focal length for automotive photography

it depends on the situation

because for shooting rollers, i'll shoot more wide, like 24-35mm but if i'm shooting motorsports, then i'll need a much longer focal length like 70-200 or even more

I have trouble picking because from what I've read the camera im getting has a "(APS-C "crop" sensor") And that like a 85mm or somethign is the same as 50mm on a normal camera. But then I see people recommending 70-200, then people recommending 24 and I dont know what to go for, love to know what yall are running

When u use a full frame lens on an APSC sensor, there will be about a 1.5x zoom basically

You'd need to shoot log to begin with. Then apply a lut that you like (or recommended) and then make adjustments or add looks to your likings

I also started with automotive photography, then a friend of mine found a job for me (event photography and place promotion ) and saw the other guy making videos about the event and later found out he made more money than me at the end of the day. I was like damn i need to be a whole package to get the most money. I was using a loaner nikon at that time so i loaned money from my parents and got the camera.

TLDR; You definetly need to try videography!

Porsche 914, can't tell if it's the -4 or -6. The -6 is a "real" porsche, the -4 has the engine from a VW T4 bus and was assembled by Karmann (yes, the one who did the Karmann Ghia), the -6 had a 2.0L F6 engine from the first Porsche 911 and was assembled in Stuttgart. the -6 is obviously way more rare and more expensive

I use photoshop for all my edits, but lightroom has really useful radial and linear gradients

for subjects I put a radial gradient and cover the car, invert it and decrease the exposure of the background

Try editing in photoshop with the raw file, you can play around alot with the shadows, highlights, dehaze the pic and color grading

for night lenses, yeah its nice to have F/1.4 but tbh you get no sharpness

I shoot with a tripod at F/5.6-6.3 for max sharpness and do a 1-2 sec exposure

I'd suggest investing in prime lenses, a 35mm F/1.8 or 50mm F/1.8 but make sure to get the G model so you get autofocus

My one piece of advice is regardless of if you are a beginner or intermediate shooter, you don't really need primes for extra sharpness. Unless you are doing big prints or shooting for a magazine, you don't need the added sharpness. Even if you do paid shoots, the person is gonna post it on Instagram anyways

non car example but basically when there is a longer exposure, do to say the water moving it gets blurred and adds this cool motion blur effect. This takes anywhere from a 10 min exposure to an hour sometimes. You cant do this even at the lowest aperture because in broad daylight the image would be blown out

First pic is edited well, as well as with the situation and being indoors plus secondary camera im going to say you didn't havw a CPL and the indoor setting made it harder for the wide shot, other than that if the 2nd looked like the 1st it would be really good, try experimenting with new angles, cars have a few money shots like a rear ¾, head on shot level with the headlights and a wheel shot
