@worthy mantle the way I learned automotive photography is by just shooting cars a lot. I would go to as many car shows , cars and coffees as I could and I would just shoot a lot. You start to develop your style that way. Learn what you like and what you don’t like. For me I learned that I personally like to get low when shooting cars. I look for angles that highlight the car, I look for things in the foreground that I can use to composite my shot

It’s all in what you like ultimately. There really no right or wrong. Just getting out there and using your camera as much as possible and soon you’ll develop a style that separates you from the rest ✌🏼 Hope that helps

What i'd do is to 0 the exposure then mask the car and lower the exposure of the other elements then work out with the car and rims. lowering the highlights will help you to get rid of the reflections a bit.

Try keeping both cars going near or the exact same speed, as well as a continous shutter helps me to spray and pray, around ~half of my shots will be in focus, but for me that is around 1/30

Honestly these photos are not the type of photos that i want to shoot. I am much more comfortable if i’m working with the owner. Most of the photos i shoot is simultaneous and i take those without consent (hence the plate sensored). I look as many angles as i can at the moment but you know 8/10 times they wont wait. So i’m looking for people and groups that are willing to work 1 on 1.

But i gotta say simultaneous shooting really helped me to learn exposure triange.

Gotta shoot your shot in situations like this. Valets handling the cars where i shoot (i made friends with them to shoot with ease) so i’m not able to speak with the owners in most cases. So i post photos that don’t match my style exactly ( car spotting on streets that requires lots of patience and panning. Also the city where i live is small and have lots of npc cars so it’s extra hard to come across a good thing).

To make this easier, let’s look at some examples of focal lengths:

35mm = 52.5mm on a cropped sensor
50mm = 75mm on a cropped sensor
