Drag Reduction System, it allows the rear wing to open up on cars on “DRS zones” on straights in each circuit when they are 1s behind another car or closer, which gives the chasing car with DRS an extra 10 km/h or something to help allow overtaking
it was introduced because the cars create so much wake directly behind them that it’s hard to follow them and therefore hard to overtake
so a lot of overtaking in this era are just people going past each other in DRS zones
also leads to no overtaking when you have a “DRS train” where 6 cars or something are all 1s apart so they all get DRS
