they rarely export coffee, but the ones that do make it out are often highly praised
Yunnan is the only place that you can really grow coffee in China, also where most Pu'er is from, Pu'er, Yunnan
@rare acorn have you ever bought chinese coffee? Given how close you are to them geographically compared to kenya/eth/colombia I'd expect you guys get easier access to chines coffee
well here's the thing
it doesn't matter where you are in the world if the roasters don't care for the origin
you could be in Costa Rica and have never had coffee from Nicaragua cause they make so little in comparison
on the matter of Chinese coffee, I've had a cup or two of Yunnan, but I am looking to acquire some beans
Ja that makes sense tbh
most Yunnan coffee is either a Catimor/Caturra variant or a Geisha
Tariffs are so high here I can't get my hands on imported coffee easily :(
where are you?
India
have you ever had indian coffee?
Oh of course!
since you're waterbound to Yemen, did you know Yemen even made coffee?

in all my history of drinking coffee, I have never ever ever had Yemeni mocha
super rare
nothing related to import tariff, just wanted to put that out there
technically anyone who borders an ocean has access to everywhere
but I'm talkin in close proximity
Wouldnt call yemen close proximity cmon
easier to get to Yemen than Yunnan
Thats crazy but dayum
have you tasted indian coffee tho?
how so?
Indian coffee is relatively rare
at least overhere
Thailand despite having landbound trade routes to Indonesia, we rarely have Indonesian coffee
so yeah not really bound by tariff or distance, just purely taste
we probably import more Honduras and Kenyan coffee than Vietnamese or Laos coffee
India is a pretty big exporter of kaffe
which is crazy cause Honduras is on the exact opposite side of the earth
and people don't even know Kenya grows coffee
High tariffs on foreign coffee to protect the indian growers tbh
I've probably had robusta from India
Kenya SL9/SL34 🤤
and Nepal's too busy growing weed I guess
i tasted a honduras recently it was sooo good ❤️
which one
Lmfao nepali weed certainly is highly regarded among stoners
so I've heard
from Archers
Finca mira flores lot 22
Fuyan estate Yunnan Anaerobic Natural
Catimor, of course
Yunnan Double Anaerobic washed of the Geisha variety sells for like
$40 a cup probably
Man you should like send me yummers coffee 🥲
Its so rare to get myself non indian coffee
Shipping n customs go absolutely bonkers :((
you've probably never had Java or Laos coffee
well idk what is imported into India, maybe you've got some super local stuff
Nothing i have is trade worthy since im still working thru a month old purchase of standout and archers coffee
most coffee that's known to be good in coffee producing regions is not exported
Yunnan Geishas are almost exclusively sold domestically
Indian coffee is often plain bad
Sometimes tho
Blows you out of the world
I gotta get more coffee and a new coffee kettle
I had this coffee that tasted like rose and cherry syrup
I've just refreshed my coffee setup
rose and cherry syrup?
$7.09 for 200g
that's pretty cheap
It was very prominently rose but there was also a lot of berry, like mix of cranberries blacberries typa smell
Sadly its not around rn
Uk what ill let you know if i come across something i love
Buybuyvuy
$120/kg
Some Nordic roaster sells in jars
Standout maybe
Say dev, how much do you typically pay for 250g of washed kenya from a good local roaster?
Kenya Mukunga for about $12 for 200g
KENYA Gichathani for about $10 for 150g
Kenya Adumu for about $15 for 200g
Ooh sweet prices
all from Nyeri and all SL28/34 except for Mukunga which is somewhere else
Kirinyaga/Kiringaka Anaerobic washed for about $17 for 200g
all very good
Man i wish i could get my hands on some 🥲
Gotta emigrate to thailand for coffee
lol
yeah coffee culture is good here
I've already had like, 4 serves of this Rwanda coffee and I've had it for 2 days
gotta get more coffee
I googled the technique and the guy in the photo is the beans I bought
How cool
I have one
“we saw the rise of anoxic fermentations, co-ferments, koji inoculation, thermal shock, saline washes, and flavour additives.”
a yemeni al mokha? real?
if this tastes like tiramisu id be dammed
This anoxic water pillow coffee literally smells like a sweeter durian kinda crazy
Finally splurged on some quality bean storage, leaving the raw beans in those bags - no matter how well constructed they are, isn't a great storage solution.
I got the glass ones so I can see how much is left in there.
i wish i could spend for this
The way Fellow built the vacuum pump into the lid is brilliant.
thats cool
thing with glass is u should keep it in the dark
but definitely looks cool
I would kinda hate organized storage tho cause idk what beans are what lol
and I have like 3-4 beans at one time
Just label them with tape, aesthetically janky but effective.
tape residue is definitely not something you wanna see on glass
tchibo has 75th year roast here
bought some today, can taste the hazelnut in it. Awesome
how did you brew it kinezier?
what grinder??
But i want a manual grinder
im not familiar myself though
Open for recommendations
budget?
try getting a kingrinder P2
you could get a 1zpresso Q as well but it might be slightly more
I am not sure if you can buy Kingdrinder K6 for $100 but look for it, its a nice grinder. has some issues with rusting if you do too much wdt so read up on that
you could also consider the timemore c3 but really I would advise buying the P2 or Q over it
I've also heard good things about the mischief M40 and well as some MFWH Bomber grinder?
all these grinders should be around $100
sorry its mhw 3 bomber
no idea, never heard of them
if i had to give you one recc, I would say get the kingrinder k6 but never under any circumstances let even the tiniest drop of water in otherwise it will rust. I know people personally whose grinders have rusted because they did RDT to the beans before grinding
otherwise get a 1zpresso Q
@rare acorn bro
This coffee is crazy
The water pillow one
My first sacrificial one I did 18g and 36g out in 38 seconds, I fugged up but the coffee is incredible
Never tasted anything like it
Woeeeeew
Told ya the stuff is powerful
the water pillow definitely works
oh yeah 100%
incredible americano
you should try it
200g for £20 tho
is brutal as fuck
definitely definitely
I'll see if someone stocks something similar
oh hell yeah
@thorny hare what about the coffee do you find the most attractive
the taste profile of it
Probably not if you're in Thailand
all the anoxic water pillow stuff seems to be sucked up by Western markets right now
you have no idea
how lucky I am
how blessed the coffee market is in Thailand
Thailand has some pretty special domestically grown and processed lots I must admit
not to be a nepo baby or anything, but some of the craziest coffees I've had were Thai in some way
Bit of a rarity where I live though, cause the cost of them are already admittedly prohibitive
definitely
most of coffee I see in Thailand is grown for domestic
same with China, Indonesia, laos
Laos has a lot of export cause 80% of their territory is mountain and cold
check this out for example
minilot, not quite micro, from a very experimental estate
$25 for 200g for this stuff, extremely good
also had some of this stuff
$30 for 200g
its straight gas tho
but I'm happy you're come around on Americano
the next best thing to Filter coffee
to be honest what I mostly focus on are coffees processed more simply that highlights varietal and terroir
check this otu
this roaster founded by Sasa Sestic who won the 2015 world's barista championship, now operating in Bangkok
meant to be a latte drink
Instead of doing 36g out in 30 seconds I’ve been doing it closer to around 25 seconds and I’ve found it to be much sweeter and delectable @rare acorn
This is okay for light roasts right?
Gonna assume that the bean is a light roast
The water pillow one
This is very lovely
brother I tell you, if it tastes good, you're doing it right
i seen a thing and it was like
your instinct is right, some light roasts when you do espresso, is better with shorter brew

sensei
I just got my mango moonstone and my lychee moonstone
got a mouthful of bean to chew on so now I'm full lychee in my mouth, amazing sensation
how much for 100g
$10
thats pretty expensive
for about 7 brews, 14 servings, that's decent
roughly 7 brews with a 15g dose, for $10, that's about $1.50 a serving
not an everyday coffee, but a great coffee you want to drink everyday
they updated the art tho, I love this roaster
gen1 bag, gen2 bag, gen3 current gen bag
great for my coffee wall, progressing everyday
I also got matcha stuff
got 50g of this stuff that I'm doing about a 3g dosage for on iced lattes, pretty good
also got a bamboo whisk
got one of these sets for $10
whisk, the holder, scoops, bowl
i guess for espresso its a bit overkill
i wish i had these fancy beans
im almost out of some beans
must get some soon
I've had it as espresso and made an Americano with it
loses some delicate flavors and the tea notes that come with filter extraction, but the punch is immaculate
nothing like drinking coffee and getting straight mango or lychee
fucks with people
the other day I served a friend who usually drinks hot Americano with 2 sugars, gave him an Ethiopian, he found it interesting
hope you can get some
sometimes even with good money you can't get ahold of this stuff
gotta find someone willing to ship it to you
i want to try it
but i have no idea how to get it here
you're making me want to drink it

sapp
probably wont be able to get it here
is there anything from china i could buy lol
i got a superbuy agent order atm
well, nothing's impossible
give me an address near you, I can see if I can ship stuff there
there's also the possibility of me just shipping you the stuff
Could work yeah
Uhhh
Queen’s University of Belfast
University Road
Belfast
County Antrim
BT7 1NN
Northern Ireland
United Kingdom
Something like that
had some of that coffee
just reporting in that I'm about to have some more
I am greedy.
hehe
wow thats a big blend
a caturra, bourbon and pache all in one bag
but Peruvian, quite rare as well, can't go wrong with Peruvian
@haughty jungle you're invited
proof of purchase
I had it for a while
yeah the older Sage Barista Express, not a bad machine
I’d like something nicer but the impress is a compromise for the gf’s ease of use

is that a bad sign?
No, just means it's either masterfully crafted, or its very safe
Caturra is the most plentiful but can also be the most complex and tasty, I'd assume from the region that it's the most plentiful variety since Caturra is such a high yield high reward, bourbon is pretty complex, pache is just common to the area I'd presume
Thank you
dormans AA washed is surprisingly good given the mad cheap price
Well, yeah, they’ve been sitting for a bit
nice, very even, delicious brownie
Gotta add they’ve been sitting on the counter for a bit
I know what I can get that tastes good
but I'll never know what you can get IN kenya that is good
Kirinyaga and Nyeri are the regions I'm familiar with
so whatever you can get that ISN'T from those regions, that's where the experiments begin
most coffee you'll find is from Nyeri, Dorman is a producer in that region and they make a few different greens
Batian, Ruiru 11, SL 28, SL 34, those the only bean varieties I know of in Kenya
if you wanna learn a little bit more
if you ask me, SL 28 is the best bean you can get, aside from some obscure Bourbon that only one estate grows, or true Panamanian Geisha
so the stuff you're looking for for the good stuff that you will not have to experiment with is an SL28/34 blend, they usually come in a blend cause SL28 is a much higher altitude bean and a lot of Kenyan hills are at the right altitude for the SL28/34 mix
read more here if you're interested
oh dang
im gonna need to sit down and have a good read
thank you for the in depth information
Hi
welcome to the coffee corner
Nice rig
I don't see a pourover setup tho
let's see it
you can't have a Stagg and a Zerno Z1 without doing filter
very very nice
I have an April brewer and ZP6 hand grinder for filter
nice
whats your coffee profile like
you into ultralight pre-crack roasts?
ultradark Japanese style low-agitation percs?
I drink light/medium roast
I had ultra light before. It wasn’t my cup of tea
Tasted too wheat grassy
ironically, it MIGHT be a cup of tea
My favorite beans are Ethiopian Yirga
ultralight is more tealike than coffee like
can't beat Yirgacheffe
My pour overs are typically El Praiso Beans, coferment
some of my favorite beans was a local roasters' overpriced G0 Yirga
Oic
drinking a local coffee right now
Vietnam is getting into arabica speciality coffee now I guess
a 72hr anaerobic ferment, tastes like Mangoes
Sounds delicious
they've always been into speciality, but Vietnam is very Vietnamese-first
they export Arabicas for manufacturers, but almost never export their good stuff, only keeping it to themselves
Ahhh
Asia's the same, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Yunnan China, Futian China
all VERY exotic coffees that you will never find anywhere unless you pay $30 a cup for it
I had some robusta from VN. Ember was the roaster
It was pretty good
The beans were not dark and oily
Vietnamese coffee is very interesting
they really like robustas and pulling sweet from them
Ya
extremely low perculation, could even call it immersion, the phin dripper
I just finished up my bag of SAKA
Blend from Naples Italy
ah
didn't know Italy actually exported beans
thought Illy had a chokehold on that market
Yeah there are some individuals who export it I guess
I ordered and had to wait like a month
did you order green? or roasted?
I've got a Hario switch for filter with a Comandante mk3
Nice
for shots I've got a flair
Flair 58?
but usually for espresso I go to the cafe I work next to, they let me have my way with their equipment lol
no, just classic
Too much faff
I think it's worth it
I like the texture of a flair shot, even if it takes 10minutes to make a shot
would take a flair shot over a machine shot most days, if I'm not the one making it that is
I’m pretty much set for my coffee. There’s an 80mm Zerno coming out this year but I don’t have as much fomo for that just yet
The Zerno I have now is good
I do kinda still want an LM Micra
I wanna get a Lelit going for espresso, that would be pretty nice
Bianca?
probably,
Very nice
I had the chance to get a one of it's cousins at an amazing price
@rare acorn where can I get nice beans around suranaree university of technology?
Dang
I know in Nakorn there's a few roasters
not sure that specific location
I'd order at that point
yeah it was an Eureka and a Lelit, all for like, $600
Got a friend going there in end of july
I doubt i can have him order smthn to his hotel
whoever stole it from me, probably a reseller too, they've got a great deal
So would prefer a physical store or roaster physical shop
I called first and was supposed to pick it up 2 days from the date I called
but someone picked it up before me, and they sold it thinking it was me
kinda sucks
why not?
you can order cash on delivery, give them the receptionist's phone
Seems like a lot of hassle
Have to ask him if he'd be down, physical stores would be simpler to figure
Nah hotels n stuffs predecided
or here
Hell of a steal
gonna make some cofi now
@merry arrow there's a cafe here which stocks dak
but they tend to be quite old beans for some reason
nobody buying them
Where is here
ireland
its out of stock it seems
I paid $40 shipped for Lychee a couple years ago lol
looks like they dont do it anymore
Yeah
The farmer Diego/El paiso does the beans seasonally
if you ever need to satisfy that lychee craving you could try to source some Yunnan Dehong Triple ferment
it's the east asian equivalent
@rare acorn
Nice
This is what I've been raving about, have some down stairs
And the even more expensive mangapple version
Context: Lychee is $100/kg
Mango is $150/kg
oh mannnnnn 😭
i didnt. it tasted like mid roadside chai, which I get would def blow white people's minds but I'm from india and roadside chai is everywhere for 5 rs a cup! 😂
I ordered "new" beans, my current ones are too sour
Previous ones were lovely
@rare acorn rate
If you need a translate let me know

Washed Honduras Catuai
Hmmm
Usually when I see Honduras I see honey, or anaerobic, don't know much about the origin, but $26/kg can't be bad
Quite nice for cappucino
If anything i found it to be a nice all-rounder, espresso and cappucino with it were nice
Not really any outliers, not bitter, not sour
Quite thick texture
I liked it
Nice
Nothing like.. Fancy..?
But just a smooth drink
Very strong coffee flavour though (kek)
Sometimes that's the best
The most expensive coffees aren't really expensive cause they taste like unicorn tears
But because they're consistent, reliable, smooth drinking
Finally found out how to turn the auto off feature on my coffee scale, so now I can use the timer without the thing shutting itself off after 180 seconds.
So now I can also use it for brewing with my French press.
i buy all my coffee beans local
keeps it fresh
fresh roasted beans from a week ago is peak coffee
Hm.. new dose for these beans and they’re.. okay
New beans on the way though, delivered tomorrow
.3 grams made the difference

18 vs 18.3 grams, made quite the difference in taste
uhh not always the case

says something objectively wrong
"yeah yeah I know I know don't lecture me on that"
I mean.. he’s not objectively wrong
Since in general he’s right, but occasionally wrong depending on the beans
im not objectively wrong at all
More often than not freshly roasted is better after a few days because the beans still have to release co2 from roasting that can leave a sour taste
what are you yapping about
Objectively he’s.. right in this case, with some exceptions
Depending on the bean/roast
which is why i said "not always" 🤷🏻♂️
which is why i said "YEAH YEAH YEAH WHATEVER"
Yeah but that doesn’t make it objectively wrong
in fact most light roasts don't fully open up after just a week of resting
you do you 👍🏻
god forbid someone have a bit of fun
That’s.. weird but okay
"buh ascksually"
I know I’m late but some light roasted beans takes over a month for it to develop taste.
(Hides)

My cheap scale will run until its batteries give up
Ive got a quote for a eureka precisa digital for $17.44 (converted), it's third hand but was purchased october of last year... I'm wondering if I should pull the plug on it or not...
Its def better than my 5 year old cheapie coffee scale but tbh I haven't run into massive issues with it yet
brave
It’s not unheard of 😉
I have had some light roast beans that have sat for months
that have still come out to be okay
quick to extract cause it's basically mush when you grind it, very little fines, very big gaps in coffee particles
so grind it finer and fingers crossed it's still drinkable
Same, some coferment stuff is crazy lol
Kinda depends on the beans i guess, generally i just try it on the first day and go from there
If it's overly sour, i leave it for a few more days
whats that logo :0
a medium should be good in a week
wow the Sage has a lotta foam
but I don't condone sticking to rules, that's part of what makes a hobby fun; exploration
learn what makes things good, bad, ugly, pretty
light roast one day after roast? why not
Definitely not, this espresso was great
Fuck the rules
:(
Well made decaf is as good as normal as i had my decaf adventure months ago
only problem is the beans go stale so much faster.
what's the time?
why not
just woke up quite late today, energetic, fueled by at least 2 coffees and 3 burger king single patties
do you have coffee?
no
chronic stress seems to have permanently altered my sleep schedule
hahaha i hope i fall asleep before an hour
Did this taste hella bitter
No?
Looks over extracted
Tasted fine
looks
time-wise it's a quick shot so it should be sour
10 second preinfusion and a 25second shot yielding 36
8 second pre-infusion, the moment i let go off the button it stops preinfusing and instantly starts
Didn't taste sour

das cool
Good beans i guess
classic timemore black mirror
works perfectly fine for me and the in built timer is nice
would recommend you get it during one of the big sale periods from taobao
maybe
looking at the wacaco right now
my biggest beef with my current scale is the lack of rubber lol
it's just friction mounted, so doesn't stay on
Honestly some of the MH3W scales have gotten quite good now
I was able to try them at WoC
the acaia lunar looklike might be your best bet then
who makes that?
ehhhh i think it's the "bomber" company
mh3w bomber which model?
this wacaco rig is pretty cute ngl
the wacaco has a hardcase which is cool
man a $270 coffee scale is crazy
I got a MHW 3Bomber scale
Anyone here have any experience with the ROK benchtop hand grinder? I intend to use it for pour over/french press.
I hate having to switch grind settings on my electric grinders, i'd like a grinder set aside for non-espresso drinks.
could always get another handgrinder
nah $200 for a coffee scale that works the same as a $10 one is crazy
rather get a $40 wacaco and a $160 geisha lot
I have a few coffee scales - the one I use the most by far is the Rhino scale, the weirdest one I have is the subminimal cup scale - which has a pretty limited range of use IMO.
i so fucking wish marketing coffee wasn't all concentrated on insta
I have two accounts both get different marketing and follow recommendations sent to them. It's infuriating, I know.
I have a Normcore V2 grinder I pack when travelling, It has the titanium nitride burrs. I'd like to have a bench top hand grinder I can muck about with different brewing methods.
might as well get the fellow ode
I'd rather have a manual grinder with a decent hopper capacity, the normcore can only grind 22g of beans at once for a single serve aeropress that's fine, but for a standard French press that isn't enough.
makes sense
the subminimal is definitely interesting, useful for everything
if it does what I think it does, it's kinda like an all-in-one cup which I appreciate
dose your bean, pull your shot, pour milk/water, great workflow for a latte/Americano/iced drip
drinking out of your scale
even so ROK is not a very good brew grinder
produces quite a bit of fines, ironically suited better for espresso
well that is unfortunate, I always thought manual grinders were better for pour overs and French press - with espresso being more physically more arduous for manual grinders.
yes and the best manual grinders now are actually, hand held
if you want a hopper size big enough, well tough luck you're gonna need to move to electric
I like the normcore V2 manual grinder - it comes with a very well laid out travel case. The other appeal of a manual grinder is the tactility and the scent of fresh coffee - you don't really get so much of that from electric grinders.
The hopper on the ROK grinder seems to be a decent size, much bigger than the paltry 22g maximum my current manual grinder can handle.
Doesn't really matter if the grinder focus is on espresso in the first place
what bottle do you guys use for rdt
trying to find one right now that will be a little more sophisticated than the $1 for 5 you can get
perfume bottle is my keyword rn
I don’t even have one
But perfume atomizer can sometimes be difficult to fill depending which ones you get
made sure to get a perfume atomizer that unscrews
rdt bottle search gone wrong
bought 2 perfumes
"Picnic with Strangers" and "Lonely in the Jazz Club"
never heard of these
but they sound like maison margiela clones
Jazz Club is a Maison Margiela fragrance
they're local artisanal
fortunate to live in a place where people arent too pretentious to wear non-designer
and materials arent too hard to source that building your own perfume is out of the question
the only designer I'd wear is like, Ysl, or Christian Dior, cause they're cool guys
Ah nice
Cool stuff
I wear niche usually
I have a big fragrance collection
"smells like mystery" is the note
blackrose and vanilla topnotes, earthy woody base notes,
and "picnic with strangers" is inspired from the artisan's trip to Seoul and the day picnic culture there, the smell of roses and grass lol
so fig and rose top notes, blackcurrant middle notes, cashmeran and musk base
does anyone know how to tell if their fragrances aren’t like just proctor and gamble chemical slop
that companies have just licensed their branding to
I got an invictus
with vanilla as alt note
mornings are woody and evenings are vanilla

Meh, i just have Dior Sauvage
Interesting, in my corner of the world everyone who comes from money goes for bespoke products.
you'd need to make friends with a chemist who has access to LCMS or NMR.
I was gifted a bottle of this in a sampler set a few years ago - I usually use it with a broad nib fountain pen for birthday cards.
scented ink is a whole new tier of old money
that’s a good shout
i think it’s immensely based that chanel no. 5 is still made using rose farmed petals in the same farms they’ve been using for decades and they have a full time nose on staff to make sure the scent is consistent
I make mine in a nitro whipper, with a few drops of Angostura cocoa bitters added.
I'd be tempted to try making an espresso martini affogato using James Hoffman's style coffee ice cream.

nothing screams luxury like brushed aluminum
jokes aside, that's one of the best non-serious home setups you can get and one of the best I've seen
rocking full sage
i kinda almost did the thing
I haven’t made lattes in about a month
Weathers been too warm and I’ve been doing a lot of americanos if I did do hot
funny cause in my case it's been too cold so I've been getting into lattes and capps instead
Cold in Thailand?
Does that even exist
I’ve been making iced lattes mostly
in the days of rain it does
but ya know, cold for me is 29c with a bit of rain and wind
and hot is more like, 40c with 100% humidity where you risk heatstrokes just being outside
Cold for me is 1-5c and hot is anything above 21c
I mean, I saw people in shorts in early winter Singapore and coastal China, and those only go down to about like, 15c
and I thought they were insane
crazy
I wore shorts outside in Macau in about 13-18c and my legs were shivering, could barely walk
Not Irish enough
That’s all I drink
if all youve ever had was americano, a nice hot cappuchino hits like a mf
I had other coffees but the ones I make are americanos or pour overs
my critique of modern coffee culture is diluting everything with syrup and ice, people don't know the value of properly steamed milk foam and how sweet that can be naturally
I made a few lattes. But I do not prefer anything other than straight coffee
I drink coffees in the morning and fast so I just become attuned to it
@exotic token coffee
did someone say COFFEE????????????????????????????????
i drink like 4 coffees a day
a espresso in the morning
a cappucino at midday
a espresso machiatto at 4 o'clock
and a marochino in the evening
nice
didn't know the marocchino was a thing
overhere we would've just called it a macchiato or cappuchino
When do you sleep? 🤯
too busy drinking coffee, no time to sleep
I’m done after two coffees in the morning.
Espresso/americano then a pour over
I rarely drink one in the afternoon unless I’m tired asf
im built different
i wake up at at 6 in the morning and go to bed at around 10-11 o'clock in the evenin
plenty of time for coffee
: )
when i can
Awww that's cute
melbourne
drinking my almost 26hour coldbrew now
this is like, some of the lowest yield coffee I've ever done
900ml water 90g coffee
about 500-600ml out
I fucked up my grinder's dial so I also have a ton of fines, terribly hard to extract
i had my fav coffee
my cold coffee
just an espresso, milk, cream and cocoa
and wow
in this heat its the best
who had more than 4 coffees today?
with the concentration of cold brew I had, it's probably 6 coffees worth
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh
nice
i had 5 today, i had an athletics meeting
so i needed a boost : )
Only 2.
I can't drink my coffees I'm in a music camp😭
I soak my Oboe reeds in Kahlua - it gives my articulation a real zing to it.
excuses excuses excuses
Damn nice instrument man!
can't knock the instant coffee
also that's a nicaraguan honduras mocha cappuchino freeze dried coffee
that's a pretty crazy combination
Descaled my gaggia just for safety
Will be able to make coffee finally
Haven’t made coffee in a while
It's the famous Howarth bubblegum oboe, I have only played it a few times as it's an absolute eyesore.
I prefer to play on French Oboes - like this Rigoutat Oboe I've had for the past 11 years.
I play the cornet
My cornet is a besson prestige 2028 with a Denise wick heritage 4 mouthpiece
Rotary or Piston valve?
Ahh Piston. Rotaries are more popular in Europe as they have more overtones to them than pistons do, which leads to a mellower sound. But intonation can be a bit odd with rotaries.
How much is it worth?
If you include the price of the trip to France...it cost a lot, but I enjoyed visiting their Paris workshop and seeing how Rigoutat instruments were made.
Nice
Yummy
very neat i havent seen one in person before
at a cafe where they actually made a swan
nice message order discord
the cafe down the street from me does swans but only for their regular customers
ive only managed to see one so far though
my friends a regular and she always manages to get a swan
she edits in there, so thats probably why
respectable lines
.
the black cup's a mocha or something
and the green I think a capu
not too familiar on cupsizes
Ask them if they can do a Canadian goose.
Usually they have Red Smirnoff for me
Bonanza Coffee Roaster is incredibly popular here
They’re German
Thanks
The Barn was quite good last I tried them
Smol heart
Cafe mocha with a few squares of dark chocolate slaps so fucking hard
It’s unbelievable
I saw a nice heart today in the cafe next door, they went from not having any latte art to having a heart, great step, working towards greatness
had some nice pourovers today
my church wants to start a cafe, they'll looking at Gemilail machines
doesnt sound like something economical
stale coffee is really not pleasant, draft Americano probably holds for a day max
but in-and-out coffee for takeaway at record speeds is appreciable
that's cool
grabbing a Peru Geisha and a Finca Santa Lucia
also trying a Yunnan "Red Wine" ferment
not sure if it's single anaerobic or anything special like DF or pillow
mmm red bourbon rwanda
that's interesting
that probably means omni-roast, a sort-of medium, good for both filter and espresso
they have all these special roasts, changes every few months etc, new beans come in
but they dont state what roast it is
they were so much harder to grind
and tasted terrible
absolutely zero redeeming qualities
what were
Oh first message didn't load
I made a coffee using the leftover/scrap beans from the last 4 bags
I knew it was going to taste awful, was not preparared for it to be the absolute pits though
and this
imagine a mocha, nutella as the chocolate, and cappuchino head
and black tar heroine sprinkled on top
thread revive
Been trying to do dark soy + water soap latte art
But I don’t think it’s exactly 1:1 with milk
So it’s a bit hard still
I perfected the latte art, just drink black coffee
Lovely
very
Is it bad of me to say that my bathroom pee visits have become so much more pleasant after consuming coffee these past couple months
Instead of piss it’s just coffee smell
So much better
lol
definitely a weird observation
maybe not the best neural-connection
can't say my pee smells like coffee myself but if it makes the bathroom experience better then it's good
drinking the peru geisha right now
also just realized I fucked up the recipe but that's okay
mandarin, high jasmine notes, tealike
for a $11/100g geisha it's not bad
Your pee never smells like coffee after drinking it????
What
maybe ive never noticed it
but I do know my room smells like coffee 24/7 @thorny hare
My kitchen too
i havent used my flair in so long
open it up today, find a puck from 6 months ago

but today I made an iced latte from a geisha
if youve ever made a light roast filter-coffee latte before, it's exactly like that, no character, just sour
Me sometimes when I forget to empty my portafilter
I might go a little crazy and pick up a 58mm flair
I'm actually really into the flair taste profile
very punchy with the kinds of coffees that I'm extracting
and being 58mm will really legitimize my coffee game, 12-14g baskets just isn't enough espresso
The new meta is 49mm baskets
wow that's TINY too bad if you want to make a ristretto.
Anyone on here using a Ember heated mug?
Not going to lie, the cup doesn't seem too appetizing
Bet it tasted great though
I got the same coffee dosing cup/tray :D
Cups without handles can be pretty awkward if poorly designed.
It’s a kinto cup. Feels good to me
Eh, i have some glass double-walled ones, are just fine without handles
Not much to poorly design in a cup to be fair, the human hand is quite neat

I think he’s knocking my Americano tho and not the glass
I'm pretty happy with the dosing tray I got. Though I do spritz the beans with a bit of distilled water to reduce static adhesion and because of this sometimes the beans can stick to the tray.
That's neat
Yeah, not really knocking it but the foam on top is putting me off
Yeah I do a spritz to reduce retention
Foam, no foam - as long as it tastes good.
Agree
It’s called crema
The only unforgivable sin with foamed milk is going overtemperature while making it.
I know what crema is, but mine doesn't look as white as that when i make an americano or a long black
Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't crema volume also related to brewing pressure?
Yeah.. i know.. but i haven't seen it that white yet
Particular bean, how it's roasted, grind size, temperature and pressure
So brewing pressure is just another element in a complicated puzzle.
Yup
And what kind of beans do you drink
Although if you're just starting out, probably not something you should worry about at first
I tend to switch it around, try different ones, usually i order from a roaster that sends them out freshly roasted. If i had to pick any i currently like these ones quite a lot
If their arbitrary score means anything to you:
This one is light roasted Ethiopian
That roasted has an etheopian coffee too, i didn't like it that much but it could be the specific bean
Bit too acidic for my taste, even when dialed in
If anything i like a coffee with a bit of a body to it, bit thicker
(for espresso)
Where do you get yours?
Cool, everyone has different tastes
I used to drink this, despite the roasters marking it's actully roasted a bit lighter so I find it hard to get decent extraction with a French press.
For espresso, it's great tasting coffee though.
Looks nice
with a cigarette
I need a hut in the mountains with a view
does anyone here have an ascaso machine?
eyeing this one
$550 used, market puts it at about $1700 new
I'm also simultaneously eyeing a flair 58 gen4.5
yeah but you'll also need a power hookup/gas connection to heat the damn water!
methane powered water heater
by cowfarts and rotting veggies, probably
Very nice
danke
Is this a juicer
its a grinder
