i cant do any right tbh
that was by pure coincidence
every time i watch a tutorial, i forget it, and i just wing it
i just pour whatever and however my hands feel like it lol
getting the right texture isnt very consistent for me
yeah that too, im still learning to steam milk
sometimes not enough foam, sometimes too much
and also the angles n stuff
Drinking is what good coffee is for.
removing the spoon ruined the side but this is mostly what my cofi looks like
Trying out some locally roasted Indian coffee.
I'm going to have to clean out my hand grinder when I make the switch to the new beans though.
my cofi looks like that sometimes
im shit at latte art
As long as it tastes good I really don't care for aesthetics.
yeah
it tastes good so pretty much i dont care as much
but i still want to be able to do some sort of art
like a heart consistently is all i want kek
Use a stencil if you have to.

coffee
Sitting lonely in the speciality filter-only place
Cause the batistas don't care
There's only two chairs in this entire place, and I'm seated in one of em
i like the wall of cofi bags
They don't accept cash, card, or crypto
pay in beans
So I had enough of exact to buy one cup
wait how tf do you pay
They only take the local equicalent of venmo
I would try paying them in coffee beans if they'd accept
Cause I've got a bag of coffee
i didnt at all think of moni transfer apps
my mind was going down the path that they accept trading items
PokƩmon cards for coffee
I might start a cafe like that in the middle of a random hiking trail
make people really question reality
Your most treasured and sentimental family heirloom for a nice Yunnan Geisha
its the kind of shit i pull in dnd games
genuinely a thing on my idea list, random little store that doesnt accept currency
rip
So I'm basically cut off
Walked half an hour from the airport to get here lol
Omw home so I'm stopping by for a coffee layover
We've found a way, I can order from the UberEats equivalent and get it for pickup and charge my card from that
Worse for them cause platform fees, but it works
I have received more coffee
and kek
The heavens have heard my harrowing
Its actually a really interesting combo
A slightly green apple-y traditional iced espresso (Thai style iykyk) paired with a fudged up marshmello chocolate crumble
So the kek is really dark with pockets of chew and the espresso tastes like someone spilled coffee into a fruitshake
sounds really nice
I did not know i needed this
What do they accept lmfao
Oh
coffee was nice tho
one of the most confusingly good cold filters I've had
they appeared to just do a normal drip in super super ice cold coffee gear with no ice
then they put a little cube of ice into a cup and poured the drip over it
and it was perfect???
witchcraft, cold drip is one hell of a trial by fire to get right
Starbucks reserve got 3 new beans, will try them this week
how is starbucks reserve actually
I've never bought starbucks reserve cause of many reasons but I do know they've got a pretty decent collection of green beans
Here in Turkey i find it at least 2 times better than normal Starbucks
They have their own reserve* beans and reserve seasonal beans, better machines and some intellectual brewing techniques
They have reserve special products like madagascar vanilla latte here
Which i enjoy a lot
Also reserves baristas are FAR more better than normal ones
better machines?
you buy it preground?
or you mean the roasting machine
on this trip I kinda went all out
bought a box of competitive filters, a box of 50 for like, $7
came with a recipe on the box
15g, 240ml,
50ml --30s--> 50ml --30s--> 60 --30s--> 80
tastes pretty good on this Columbian
also looking into this, if anyone has experience
cafec deep 27, capable of microbrews (5-8g)
for when you get 20g of a panama geisha you sold your house and cat for, and want to drink it more than once/one way
i've also learned throughout the years how important preheating actually is
so today I almost burned my house down preheating the glass dripper,
my plastic kitchen kettle almost melted after I superheated water
https://buymeacoffee.com/wispcream if anyone wants to donate to the Fellow Stagg EKG fund
I was talking about just buying coffee not beans, and their coffee machines
But in every aspect it is better
Starbucks makes coffee machines? thought they just licensed them in stores
@rare acorn u ok
I remember you being in Thailand?
There was an earthquake in myanmar, since you guys are next to each other
wanted to ask
yeah kinda
but I'm almost 1500km away from the affected area, I'm chill
thanks for asking tho
I seriously doubt they make them, the most likely scenario is that they are just a rebrand from some other manufacturer.
This indian coffee I've been brewing with tastes great, but it is by far the messiest I have ever had to work with. Grinding it in my hand grinder is so messy even if I do spritz the beans with some water beforehand, I never had that issue with Brazillian or Columbian coffee.

I do not enjoy making "negative" reviews. At all. But, whenever there is a product that has a lot of hype and/or comes from an established company that has garnered trust over the years, I feel it is a responsibility of mine to showcase issues transparently.

Yeah the kettle he named is very good for pourover
Heās brought it up before
This isnāt the second time š
bro thats like VERY EXPENSIVE
You don't need anything
I've made the same coffee taste the same with two very very different grades of kettle
I'm just looking to make it more convenient to maintain the workflow
oh yeah
a local cafe in Phuket won Thailand's Barista cup

No idea
looks to be some weird brewing method
Looks somewhat similar to Turkish coffee
If youāve ever seen that
Cool video
ye i have seen those
I havenāt made coffee in a week, been busy
Probably next week
siphoning
it's one of the old traditionally "fancy" coffee techniques
it's got the taste profile of like a french press, but much cleaner, and much more of a hassle to get right
it's the same method you see in this photo lol
only the most prestigious and soughtafter coffee bars have siphon,
cause it's such a time consuming process for something most people wouldn't notice in comparison to your typical filter/frenchpress coffee
they roast in house and all too
Starbucks is different tho
They do it cause they can
Just straight ballers
Literally have 0 reason to roast in-house other than for show
Cause roasted coffee smells like spoilt milk and burning sawdust
I used my coffee so precisely
that I had 10g left
so I came up with a new recipe
and I think I might just be a genius
wish more people here did filter/pourover so they actually understand anything I say
@rare acorn you liked Yirgacheff?
Thereās a lot of choice here
Apparently this is probably the best coffee spot
@rare acorn help me out whenever youāre online
What beans to get
Probably canāt see shit in the photos
Itās okay tho
Iāll try Yirgacheffe for a week
Every Sunday this cafe does one slice of pie and a batch drip coffee for £6.50
And apparently the line is out the door
š
just realized i did not drink coffee today and thats probably why Iām wiped at 5pm
I've had the Colombian coffee before, intrigued to try their darker blended signature roast of multiple origins Brazil/Kenya/Colombia.
love yirga as a daily coffee for Americano and filter
probably not a go-to for Espresso and Milk-based
oh no
bought the wrong beans
fuck

I curse you with: infinite Americano
how is it
Yeah I tried an espresso shot and itās
INSANELY
Fruity
So probably infinite Americanos yeah
šµāš«
can't go wrong with a nice blueberry crumble and hot coffee, that slice looks immaculate
That was a raspberry cream pie
It was banger
I want to go next Sunday again
Right now im in a dangerous spot, I've got a pamphlet with me with the 28 locations of cafes in Phuket that are in this little group that do cool coffee events, and when I go to about 19 I get a shirt
I've gone and spent about $10-15 on coffee and cakes in 4 locations so far and I've only got the map for a week lol
that free t shirt and exploration
you must do it
its the experience that matters
if its a bad idea, it makes a great story
this sounds sick
vietnamese phin coffee for me and v60 for partner
Market lane enjoyer spotted
cannot deny
i make a few americanos with yirgacheffe
gosh its so sweet
heckity split
interesting
yeah
very tea-like, sweet, nice on the palette
I'm converting someone atm
took them to like, 3 cafes in a row
started off with the sweetest coffee drink you could get (sparkling orange Americano)
then somewhere along the lines went with an iced latte non-sweet
all tastes the same apparently, but very different to me lol
@thorny hare you should try a Laos Bolavan
i can get him to try an iced caramel latte with yirgacheffe
it would be very fruity and sweet
very nice menu items
oh yeah this is the stamping thing I was talking about
I'm on 4 stamps atm
i dont have anything remotely to what that is
but if we had one
i think its an untapped market
you guys too fancy
it's a caramel macchiato I believe
i like peach iced tea
that's actually an Ethiopian
this is a tattoo parlour, the downstairs is a musical lounge and DJing center that they serve coffee in
I swear every time I go the shop is renovated, they move the furniture everyday
new place that just opened who do pretty good filter
why does it look like tea
this is like, a Guatamalean Geisha
seriously
the worse we got is
a cafe is downstairs to the church which owns it upstairs
it's light, and they grind it with an Maelkonig
the church upstairs is like the church's office
Maelkonig just makes tea-like brews, very sweet and succulent
right
that's pretty cool
they sell some okay beans
it's a roastery
they've got like, 4 staggs
and 7 maelkonig ek43's
and 3 other grinders
i wish we had that
very very very rich
I wanna say they supply for half of the popular cafes in thailand
one of the biggest green coffee banks in Thailand, they've probably got kilos of geisha at the back
some other photos that I wasn't the taker of
nothing beats a nice fruity iced Americano with smoked salmon on a brioche butter croissant
jealous
oh did i tell you guys about my funny plan to do a coffee related physics project
vaguely coffee related
another location of theirs, they've got 3 locations I think in Bangkok
didn't happen but still fun idea imo and it would have been so good
what is it?
oh man
I should fly over and take pics
one of the options for our first year project was to make a thermometer with liquid crystals, i wanted to make one for my milk pitcher
then i find out that the break room in the uni area with physics labs has a coffee club
it would have been so good
i was here last year its such a cute cafe!!!!
nice
so many nice roasters to visit
you can still do it ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
the japanese pour over coffee culture heading into the rest of SEA is so good
should i try get a geisha
is it good for espresso
vietnam is insane for coffee now too imo
another roaster
no
no not really lol i cant just fuck around in the labs for funsies, i would need to do some project that's at least using liquid crystals
infinite Americano, but mostly infinite filter
you can try an Ethiopian Galena Geisha
or a Gori Geisha
it's technically a Geisha, and probably the most produced
I only recommend it cause it's cheap in-comparison to what most people refer to as Geisha
about $15 for a 200g bag here, you could probably fetch one for that overthere

in comparison to like a Panama Geisha, which is closer to $1 per gram
oh man
that's such a gorgeous shot
so non-symmetric it's nauseating, but good nonetheless
don't think I've been to a cafe here that does filter and doesn't have a stagg

Title: The Effect of Brewing Temperature on Coffee Characteristics
this is mindbreaking
research saying lower temperature actually has more definition than high temperature
low temperature in this case being 87 and high being 93
this is crazy? why is no one talking about this?
Hi fellow coffee nerds! Iām so excited to share my latte I bought, they ran out of lids
Happy Thursday
update: tastes just as good, i am not sure my palette is good enough to recognize taste differences brewed at 90*ish but its definitely a but more acidic and its brought out the nectarine a bit more

immaculate foam
drinking like, a terrible failure of a drip of a 2 month old bean
yet it's still decent
still juicy, still got like, 65% of the characteristics of the coffee, tastes a little stale, a little old, a little funky, maybe a hint of post-process anaerobic-ness
its talking about differences from cups brewed at different temperatures
not necessarily of coffee at certain temperatures
youd have to make coffee with boiling water to achieve a final temperature of 90c lol
ohhh i get you now also skimmed through the paper instead of just the image lol
that tracks
hi ig
yeah
really tho it's an interesting topic
cause people brew with higher or lower temps to extract more coffee
but if you end up extracting the same amount as measured by strength of the PE test or the TDS test, then temperature basically made no difference
TMI for me
if you can brew faster and still extract the exact same coffee with hotter water, it should taste the same as a slower colder brew extracted to the same metrics
we're talking about this paper
Batali, M. E., La Plante, D., Harwood, W. S., & Vinson, D. R. (2020).
Title: The Effect of Brewing Temperature on Coffee Characteristics
how cold are we talkin?
about how coffee made at a lower-than-normal temperature tastes the same as a coffee made at a higher-than-normal temperature if all other variables are the same
cold relative to what "normal" is
10-20C?
"normal" would be about 90c?
"cold" would be 87c
"hot" would be 95c
but traditionally brewing coffee at anything lower than say 92c would make it taste really bad
then how is cold brew a thing?
people just call it cold brew
in reality it's just hot water put in a fridge for 12 hours
its cold once you drink it, which is why its cold brew
but really it doesnt matter if it was hot or cold to start with
for maximum caffeine, which brew should i get?
light roast
people think dark roast means more caffeine
but when you roast coffee, you also literally burn away the caffeine
maximum caffeine is green coffee, but we're not lemurs, so we can't really eat raw coffee
pour over or espresso or what?
in between
you want immersion brewing, like french press
that's maximum caffeine
or technically a lungo is maximum caffeine, but it's also the least drinkable form of coffee
how so?
a lungo is an espresso that you put too much water through
i wonder what would happen if you brew in a vaccum chamber and cycle it
so it extracts the undesirable things you dont normally get out of espresso
all from the same amount of raw coffee bean
I know a guy who drinks almost exclusively lungo because he drinks capsule coffee
and capsules have 9-10g of coffee to start with
and when you pull a lungo you can get upto 80ml or sometimes 120 if you go hard in the paint
so pulling 120ml of liquid from 10g of coffee
that's... about 100ml too much liquid
and within that 100ml, maybe 10ml is proper "coffee"
the rest of it, the 90ml, is just bean water that tastes of burnt and stale
there's beans that you can get that are actually made to brew lungo and they're great, I would say the best "machine" coffee I've had was a well-brewed lungo
but most do it poorly, and it tastes piss poor because of it
but anyways, welcome to the #1313935395502948352 lounge, where most of it is just me rambling for too long and the rest of the gang popping in to showcase the actually cool stuff @quiet fable
interesting
@ripe musk I have made coffee with like, 80c water
i love it here
and it's tasted absolutely bland
no dimension
I wonder if I have to do it again if using high TDS water and absolutely going ham in the agitation, if it'll help
cause sometimes when youre camping you cant really help it, hot water is hard to come by
lots of things are hard to come by in camping
like a level surface to drip on lol
had to drip on some crazy slants cause it was either that or the uneven forest floor
F
hard enough to drip with cold water as it is and an uneven pouring sprout that chokes your brew with fines
feels like a moka pot and gas mate would be my go to for camping or just brewing ahead of time and copping a progressively cold coffee as the days progress
absolutely unnecessary amounts of pain, but that's what makes the best coffee
a friend of mine swears the best coffee I ever made was made in total darkness at 2 in the morning on a mountain
huge the vibes would have been immaculate though hey
the vibes is half the flavor
recall that night very vividly
was about to sleep in the tent but couldn't cause the mountain had no wind, and I set up my tent on an ant hill
so ended up packing 6-7 in the morning and just going home restless
10/10, would do it again
that sounds chaotic and fun in equal measures
dont think ive genuinely gone camping outside of festivals and i just have like a vacuumed sealed thermos of coffee for the weekend or buy coffee from the cart
also mental noting to get the coffee mentioned above that tastes like pu-er
vacuum sealed thermos would not last with my group
tbh ive only been back on coffee recently mainly because of my trip to vietnam but i generally drink puer in the morning
we drink coffee at every oppotunity
I took like, 7 different beans on a trip once
brewed for a dozen people
I was in vietnam for a month
even went to the vietnamese coffee capital
and experienced the yearly coffee festival lol
oh wild how recently ago and howād you find it?
I left Vietnam basically 3 weeks ago
so the coffee festival is like, 5 weeks ago from this date
was it mainly vietnamese coffee or did you get a mix of like pour over and espresso based coffee too
idk honestly, I had every coffee I could get my hands on
but I took a liking to their coconut coffee
Vietnam loves their condensed milk tho, in their coffee
but it was in ThĆ nh phį» BuĆ“n Ma Thuį»t, the coffee festival
i was like why is it there and then saw trung nguyen coffee village in the pic and yeah makes sense
i love the salted version of their condensed milk coffee
but the coconut coffee also goes hard
yeah, where it all began
Lang Ca Phe Trang Nyugen
have you been to melbourne before
no
i think weāre supposed to be known from years ago as the coffee capital of the world and i feel like its nowhere near anymore
weird, why would it be Melbourne
no idea
I only know of a few things that Melbourne invented in coffee, like whatever the Double Ristretto Magic is
but otherwise most things people know as modern coffee nowadays was conceived elsewhere
every cafe is pretty enthusiastic about the beans they use and have pretty switched on baristas but i feel like its very espresso centric and it doesnāt do a whole lot outside of that
like South Korea's Dalgona coffee
there will be the odd pour over coffee spot and even then RARELY will they do something interesting, it just feels like weāre in a time capsule from a decade ago
honestly
the boss flash brew is fantastic
not surprised
unless they're keeping it lowkey in Melbourne, I don't hear too much of what goes on there
so hard to find good drip bags a lot of the ones sold here like ⦠fall into your brewing cup and you cant actually extract it properly unless you have like a tall drinking glass
i am not explaining well
yeah not a whole lot happening tbh
you can grab a bag of the ones you put your own coffee in
some you can like, prefill, or something
in Thailand drip bags are becoming pretty popular, even commercialized in convenience stores
sick
or real real speciality drip bags
$2 per bag for this
a very very very tasty local brew
roasted by a legend
ive been to melbourne before, i am not nerdy enough to tell the differance
one of the giftsets of all time
a Geisha, a Jamaican Blue mountain, a Chiang Mai Moonstone
very very cool
i think the best coffee experience ive had was in thailand actually, slowcoffee?? in ko samui
if a place has good coffee, a good vibe, and maybe good bakery, then its a good cafe
doesnt have to be objectively good
they did this pourover and before serving they threw it in this aerator into a whiskey glass
reminds me
and was unlike anything ive ever had before taste wise
had this today let me show you a pic
this is a Shaken Yuzu Coffee soda
real Yuzu lemons, cold brew, aerated like a cocktail
very very punchy
holy SHIT
yeah weāll be lucky to get a slice of fruit anywhere here in our pourovers
meanwhile
missed focus the tip of this quesadilla, but also had a nice Laos-Thai-Ethiopian Americano houseblend
this country hates change to the status quo lol its so boring
better picture of the coffee
that's a solid solid aerated layer of foam
vibe of the place
looks so so good
lots going on in the filter department
very very lowkey place that I found because I have a map of places I have to go to lol
this nice shot I got
gotta clean it up then I can post it to all 10 of my social media followers
it's like, a diner-style place with a coffee bar, and they do Mexican and Fusion
interesting combo for a cafe lol, but there's no rules
check this custard cake tho
lyeah if you execute it well no one cares right
we almost went on our trip last year but couldnāt fit it in!!
looks like a must go for next time
i just had the extreamly dumb idea for a "contemporary artwork" where a robot dispenses water from a 10Ul micropipette into a V60
i wonder how much i can launder money from it
i would genuinely go to an art gallery to see this piece
got a fanuc robot i could borrow?
ehhh, kinda overrated
no :<
but it's something cool to look at
300k VND entry fee tho
and the coffee inside is lesser than I expected
the 3 cafes at the entrance of the museum had good coffee tho lol
the cafes in the town are pretty good, some opening til like, midnight
its a shame its not in one of the major cities j think making a full trip out there for a museum is a hard ask
sick
road bike?
coffee museum -> dalat, nightmarish adventure
hahaha, no
awww
Asian scooters
ohhh
the bike I took
( dont take a scooter )
the roads are very mountaineous on the way to Da lat
and it's a 4-5 hour ride through unfinished roads
cant imagine rhey are very well lit either
I had to drive through a rainstorm for a hundred kilometers
in unlit roads and no moon
would've been more chill if I was on a 350cc roadbike with 4 high beam LEDs in the front
but my scooter barely had a flourescent bulb to begin with
I actually have a timelapse of one part of the trip on an Insta360 which I had strapped on my backpack propped up by a selfie stick while I rode
but heres some instagram photos instead of the trip
gas station photo, for the road
love those gas station photos
rainstorm aside the weather looks so lovely you did well
rainstorm came out of nowhere
this was the calm before the storm
oh yeah while I'm still on my instagram
sounds about right
looks so good
$2 cappuchino
i swear to god that thing costs $8usd if you could find it here
CUTE
well deserved
i still get funny looks when i tell people that my fav coffees to order involve like a shot of espresso ice tonic water and some kind of fruit
actually vietnamese coffee is a better substitute for espresso i find because of the natural sweetness
but yeah asia seems the spot for it
hard to comprehend what this tastes like when youve had lattes and Americanos all your life
cant be drinking hot lattes all day when the weather's already hot
i'd be down to try this
if you come down i will personally make you things like this
LOL
cannabis is legal, so fuck it, why not put it in coffee
come down where? down south? down under?
melbourne i will make u and lex coffee :))) (invite applies to all !!!)
rip wallet
just get super wired before u get high
reminds me of this place in cambodia where i thought weed was illegal but happy pizza have thc in their pizza and operates legally???
was also funny going to dispensaries and they wojld give you a free joint if you left a 5 star review
i'd rather keep with my meth tyvm
extremely northern territory voice:
not joking
i dont doubt that
methylphenadate ring a bell?
completely unrelated to coffee but my friend in darwin runs like an annual ayahuasca festival
i had to look that up lmao
also i want to go up one year for the laksa festival
but ill shut up and take it back to australian lounge
It is so strange for me to see people do drugs legal or illegal lul
Even coffee sometimes feel like i am an addict
which i am
ritalin does almost nothing to me, i need to talk to my doctor about it
Anyways i bought 3 different beans from tchibo today

Never had any smoking things or pill shaped things
not even panadol?
whats panadol
paracetamol
ritalin is both a drug and drug
Both i don't like...
these are the seasonal coffees at the moment of starbucks here
starbucks is only down south
Spanish is just condensed milk+latte
we got jack shit up here

Whenever I'm in Melb I'm always picking up at least 2 bags from em
canāt go wrong
their brunswick store is behind a great bagel shop and i go wjth my partner when she needs new beans just to get a bagel too hehe
this reminds me
the BEST coffee that I ever had
competition Panama Geisha
hundreds of dollars a bag
my guy just had a bag, sold me a serving for $8, normally a serving would be $30 minimum?
real friend, still know him, works at a cafe near me now, that popup cafe in which he served me was shortlasting
he served me the coffee, tasted like the vivid imagination of Lavender and Wisteria
crazy day, super super experimental place
WHAT IN THE WORLD DEMON SLAYER IS THIS
man
good coffee just stays good idk man
I have a month old bean here that was basically grocery store, didnt last my impromptu trip abroad
but I just finished off my 2-3 month old bean that kept decently well
shows that even the most standard coffee pouch bag with CO2 valves keeps coffee good
what is this? tea?
its cheap but is it any good
you know what
it's pretty solid
the roast is a little rough, tastes like a medium-dark
but definitely not burnt, very little flavor of anything identifiable, but for a fast foot chain and $0.87, it's pretty decent
I could definitely see people liking this, it's definitely a traditional "coffee" taste
for 90c i think you cant argue right
i think if its coffee, and then it works
then you're good
so applause for bk
I mean
when I was chowing down on my whopper the coffee tasted pretty good
I'd argue bitterness is not a bad thing, you just have to balance it out
if that coffee was any sweeter and fruitier I wouldn't have noticed it was coffee, probably just water
so, a very circumstantial taste profile that works with it's parts
tasting it after the fact revealed the taste I described here, but in the moment, it was a pretty good coffee
context: I had it with this meal
I mean
you really cant
cause I tried to get something from McDonalds the other day
and they want like, $3 for a coffee
that's more than like, 80% of world class cafes in the area
like an asahi beer
with dinner
yeah, it's like an asahi
cool
The barista told me this is good for espresso
What ethnicity and cultural background did the Barista have
More importantly have you tried it in a milk drink yet
I'm about to board my flight to China
Hoping to bring back a few good bags of Yunnan DF
White and white
No because it was roasted yesterday lol
Gonna have to wait a week and a half
You run out of the other bean yet?
nope
i still have a bit of square mile
and yirgacheffe
Red brick?
I should try ordering some coffee from abroad
Cause I went to a few cafes in the capital and they had all of these super cool Berlin roasters and British
So I can actually experience some of the same things others experience
yeah
If y'all in the UK, would highly rec Scenery
UK has a lot of roasters and local beans
like just around me i have endless amounts of local beans to choose from
its nice
these guys are in London it seems
They're my personal favourite I've tried out of the UK
I know the owner personally so, a bit of bias there but I genuinely think he sources good greens and roasts them well
hey, thats fair
i think i have somewhat learned how to steam milk consistently
10 seconds of bubbles
then down under
it looks too smooth but when you let it settle it thickens up
Steaming milk is a whole lot of trial and error
tbh i'm glad I learnt it as a barista on the company's expenses rather than my own
once you get the gist of it, you should be able to steam milk on any half decent machine
Tried to capture a pour of some milk in my cold brew a few weeks ago and learned it was really good at multitasking.
I was able to trigger the camera with the remote, miss my pour, and make a big mess down the side of the glass, all at the same time
Would be a nice one to spam the shutter
I kinda did, but i was using a strobe, so I was dependent on recycle time. I think next time I'll just use black card to control reflections and use constant light
Sounds great
I wish I had enough room to do this
Iāve always wanted to do product photos
You may be surprised how little room you need, this was done on a two foot section of my kitchen counter and my tripod was setup about 1 foot in front of the cabinets.
reminds me on the led on strobe that was so powerful you can hear it
me when i just went to the shop and forgot to buy milk
and ive been drinking americanos for 2 days straight
you're seeing the light
both metaphorically and physically... lots and lots of light roast
I mean
Itās pretty good actually
So I donāt mind
@thorny hare hows the new coffee
Havenāt tried it yet
Itās freshly roasted
So Iām gonna wait a week
ok
But probably infinite americanos
wdym
Didnāt you mention the beans were only good for filter or something
This one
well, they've got the desirable traits for an Americano or a filter
you don't usually buy a "grape" bean to have with straight milk, you might have it with milk AND jam/some other addition
but it might be good with milk, who knows
one of my favorite combinations on a latte is like, a green grape guava heavy bean
gives it like a sour yogurt kind of feel
but maybe that's just me and I'm being weird
Okay Iāll give it a try anyways, probably like in 3-4 days time
cause I know a place that makes the best light roast lattes that they mix with different sodas
big thing in Asia

I could get into an untapped market bro
Start my own coffee soda business
š
coffee soda slaps
but you need to be very intentional with your coffee choice to turn it into soda
some coffees work, others are gonna have a violent and horrible reaction to it
i find it works much more effectively with tonic water than sparkling water when i make em
esp vietnamese beans and their natural sweetness and chocolate-y notes mixing super well with the tonic water sweetness
tonic water is bitter tho
I've found the most success with washed central/south american coffees that are roasted dead medium
no, but I have just picked up an Ethiopian Heirloom
also check this out
speciality coffee vending machine by a local cafe
From standout?
must get milk today
Its been a while since i got some bangin beans tbh. standout's def top 5 roasters ive tasted but prodigal and B&W are so much tastier its like some other league. But then again I haven't really tasted the expensive standout beans yet. I bet their geshas are great too
no, where's that from?
local roaster from Thailand
Noice can you please give me roaster reccomendations? I have no idea about roasters in south east asia. I usually only drink filter coffee made in a v60 so light roasts pls :)
dont know if it would even be economical to order from so far away if youre in Europe lol
but I would probably start off with the stuff you are very unlikely to find outside of Thailand
these are all including Thai blends, which are rarely sent outside of Thailand
some of my the most reliable beans I've had
the daily is probably Sanchai's Estate between the 4
Moonstone Masterpiece is about $2 a serving, so maybe not an everyday cup
Ah no I am in india, I try getting foreign coffee from friends who visit haha. So I'll put your reccs in a list and when someone ik visits thailand I'll ask them to bring me some
SB here has something called spanish latte
which is just a latte with more foam and condensed milk in bottom
I love it tho lul
yeah
wonder if there's a coffee from honduras that ISNT sweet
this is a Honduras Catuai that they name the Whisky blend
basically the sweetest coffee I've ever had, tastes like vanilla bean and whisky
I was hoping this bean you got wasn't going to be sweet cause it's not a Catuai
whiskey blend
it's fine for a one off
its okay, i like americanos
I never got around to finishing the bag tho cause it wasn't really what I was after
Maybe it's the cam angle but it looks like youre going up and down while pouring in a circle, if you pour from a fixed height while keeping the flow rate more or less the same you could get brighter tastier cups. Going up and down while going clockwise messes up flow rate and agitation across the bed potentially leading to weird extractions, just a suggestion.
I have this archers honduras thats mangos, cherries and its so sweet. I love it!
yeah ik
hard to do anything while youre filming
the deal pour is a monotocous circle from a fixed height, the rest is flair
Heh true that, that's why I don't film myself making coffee lol
SW Lychee from a few months back. What an epic coffee ā¤ļø
SW roasts good stuff
Beansā¢ļø
Like an angry bird with a heart shaped forehead
Lmfao
made me a nice matcha latte today
instagram coffee
it was called a pina colada, and it tastes NOTHING like it looks
it's actually a very nutty maybe half Brazilian half Laos/North Thai blend with a good dry yuzu juice base
so it LOOKS like a soda, but actually tastes like a milk-yogurt drink
shaken too, so nice froth, nice aeration on that nutty coffee
very low acidity low bitters, big body, definitely unexpected
paired with a nice half-rose half-lychee macaron that costed way too much
Sounds tasty
Where can try this
Make one I guess
Unless you wanna fly here
Try throwing a nutty coffee into a shaker with some ice and throwing it on pineapple juice, that should be close to it
That sounds horrible, Iām not sure if I want to try it like that loool but maybe if I get pineapple juice
everything sounds horrible Jordan
Yes
if I told everyone coffee was just old burnt brown bean juice no one would drink it
except for the clinically sociopathic
but really coffee's just old burnt brown bean juice, so really we're all clinically sociopathic
Iām a delulu like yourself
@rare acorn apparently a local coffee shop has a Geisha
Do you think itās worth getting it
Or is it going to be infinite americanos
Which I donāt mind
Got the bag details?
nope
oh well
Geisha is infinite filter coffee
not even Americano
which I would say is a difference, filter coffee usually has more of those real subtle flavors, more tealike
if it's an Ethiopian Gelena Geisha, those are cheap enough to experiment with if you get like, a 200g bag
having a Rwanda right now
these guys gave me a Custom POSTCARD, with their little mascot on it riding a truck celebrating Thai new years with waterguns, and a really nice sticker
hearts out to the local roasters still pushing through
Righteo
Okay probably shouldnāt get a geisha then
Also thereās a marathon on today
So fkn annoying
I canāt drive into the city
To get my coffee beans
what Geisha was it?
how much was it do you know?
My friend just told me they exist
damn
All he said was it exists
yeah Geishas are usually on the upperend of $2-3 a shot
usually about $10-30 a shot for the good stuff
Right
I'm having this one next for an espresso drink
it's like, a fermented Brazilian and Columbian
maybe you should try something along those sorts next, something with "exotic" processes
Fermented beans?
anaerobic process
when they mash the coffee but leave the fruit on, and let the fruit juices mingle in a basin for 2 weeks
gives it a tang, often some sweet and complex sourness
Ooooooh
this page seems to only have natural, honey, and "washed"
which are the core traditional methods
honey and anaerobic are pretty similar, so maybe you can try a honey process coffee
Yeah I need to find the rest
google's gemini AI search engine thing has a decent summary
Anaerobic Fermentation:
A method where coffee cherries are fermented in an environment where oxygen is limited, often in bags or vats, to alter the fermentation process.
Carbonic Maceration:
A method where coffee cherries are placed in sealed tanks and filled with carbon dioxide, creating a unique fermentation environment.
Semi-Washed (Wet Hulled):
A process where the outer skin and some pulp are removed before drying, resulting in a coffee with a balance of sweetness and acidity.
wet hulled is found in a lot of indonesian coffees
carbonic is very rare, don't think I've had a cup myself but I have seen it around
there's also DF, double fermentation, which is really popular nowadays, which is just anaerobic, but make it double
Ooh
Thank you
Also I might need to walk 45 mins into the city lol
Instead of driving 10 minutes
This silly marathon
should've had a bike
I can drive and loop around apparently, 16 minutes instead of my usual 10
Cafe Imports has really good videos showing off the main 3 processing methods for coffees
But the experimental process craze has gone into overdrive since 2021, so you might see some truly wild stuff being done with coffee nowadays
Including Koji, Wine Yeast, even sourdough ferments being done and many more
Damn wow
My general advice for these advanced fermentation coffees is to only try em if you're looking to be slapped in the face
The flavours are very prominent and usually in your face, of course you'll probably encounter palette fatigue much sooner with these coffees compared to the traditionally processed coffees
That's if you're drinking it black, these coffees do pair quite nicely with milk
those are all gonna be some pretty heavy punchers
Water without dissolved oxygen
I got this bean btw
Fuck me itās so expensive
Ā£20 for 250g
Letās try Anoxic Water Pillow Process for 24 Hours
Do you even like coffee if you donāt do Anoxic Water Pillow Process for 24 Hours
Noob, you donāt know Anoxic Water Pillow Process for 24 Hours ????
Same, so I got a cheap £10 bag of washed beans for espresso
But Anoxic Water Pillow Process for 24 Hours gotta hit hard
It better be some sort of crazy flavours I swear
So... washed
you know what
I'm going to say it
I think flatbottom filters are a little dull
v60 for life baby
(it's probably my technique)
what the fuck is H2O without the O
that's just straight Hydrogen
Every body of water with life in it has dissolved oxygen
How do you think sea life even exists?
yes, that's why I'm asking, what is H2O without dissolved oxygen
Anoxic water
I've never seen or heard of the affects of water without dissolved oxygen
That is the term given to water that lacks dissolved oxygen
I know H2O inherently doesn't have dissolved oxygen, but I only know in theory
so anoxic is just a filler word for anaerobic
so anoxic water pillow is just anaerobic with even less oxygen

man I should be a barista
I work a 4-5 hour shift at a school next to a cafe, and at the end of the day I'm always helping the cafe in some way
usually in exchange for some softserve and a bagel
shit's pretty fun
Dissolved oxygen is different from oxygen atoms being in a chemical bond
I wanted to buy an origami because i thought the brews would be immensely better than my plastic v60 but a bit of digging around reveals the difference is very slight and not really worth the money to me rn
origami is cool cause origami is cool
changes the taste slightly, in a way I notice it if every variable was the same
