you should look into cold brew
super easy to use up coffee lol
if your coffee is 5 weeks old, throw it into a grinder at a super coarse grind
throw it all into the biggest container you have, fill it with water
put it in the fridge for 12 hrs, and distribute to family members
30g of coffee to 300ml of liquid
easy to throw 100g of coffee and a liter of water in the fridge
What about longer than 5 weeks
depends on the container tbh
ive found coffee that was contained well can last decently upto like, 8 weeks
it's more a bean-by-bean basis, you gotta try grinding it to see if it will grind nicely
if it wont grind into a consistent grindsize it's beyond saving, to the coldbrew it goes
that's also why a lot of cafes will do coldbrew, cause they can use all their leftover coffee and still have a decent product
Right
Interesting
So cold brew can make okay coffee
Gonna get me one soon
its local
@thorny hare
$38 for 30g of coffee
This is the top of the top of coffee
no
Aluminium bottles
its geisha
Do beans come in that
the bottle is just because of how low of a dosage it is sold in
yeah
each bottle is 15g of coffee
so it's a one time use for filtered coffee
15g 250ml liquid
more than $1 a gram
about $500/lb
thats a small bottle
only 15g bruh
what a waste of manufacturing
breh
well, if its 30cents to manufacture those bottles
to hold $16 worth of coffee, 30 cents is nothing
and I'm sure it's got something to do with retaining the quality and what not
but I wouldnt mind bottles that small, it's like a pre-dose
if you know you're gonna do a 30g pourover, just have those beans pre-wetted in a 30g container
and then you've got a reason to reuse, for on-the-go
this thing arrived
pulled and absolute banger of a shot into it
1:30 shot pulling 15bars cause I grinded too fine
@dense vortex a few different types of milk frothers exist
most common steam boiler is this stovetop type Bellman sells
but you can get one far cheaper that adapts onto an 8cup moka pot boiler
another type you see is the stiring-type, not steaming but it froths milk to a very very nice microfoam
the most mainstream type I see of these is by Subminimal
these are also bomb, easy to use and maintain
ew
whats interesting is you will happily still enjoy that shot
crazy lol
i would've poured it down the sink and restarted
when coffee touches milk, all atrocities are forgotten
and good coffee comes out decent under or over
I would've poured it out too if I was using a lesser coffee
or maybe that's just me and I'm accustomed to drinking all sorts of coffee
i think you're just used to it
I've had worse coffee than a 1:30 15bar shot anyways
not hard to enjoy coffee if you know what went into it
a lot harder to enjoy a dark roast Lungo when you've ordered an medium Americano

people consider it overextraction
I consider it a different taste profile
I pulled an absolute banger 10second flash shot for a guest the other day and they were fine with it
I had a taste and it was aggressively alright
lol yeah
to me that sounds like copium
but honestly if you can hack it then
fair play
it's a joke
to me it's fine, not drinking it raw anyways
¯_(ツ)_/¯
maybe the next time you come visit Thailand I'll make you a 1:30 shot, see if it's as bad as you've remembered

What are some of the best value for money milk steamers? I’m tired of failing at latte art because my built in steamer sucks
whats your coffee machine?
Breville barista express
should be pretty capable at producing microfoam
Idk it usually ends up being a lot of dry foam and then just hot milk
not sure youll get better results going with a standalone steamer
Hm; when I worked at Starbucks the results were much better
Oh interesting, stovetop?
no, that one is a PID
electronic
have you tried to like use two pitchers
pour them into the other and swirl as much as the foam into the milk
for your sakes I've gone ahead and pulled a nice 17g in 34g out 35second shot 10second preinfusion Columbian dirty Thai style for you
@thorny hare
just like in the photos, except way worse lighting
Thank you
This is very informative
I appreciate it boss
Looks lovely tbf
np
thought you'd love to know
anyways Merry Christmas
saw you were having a nice lamb chop
oh that was a rump beef roast
thank you
we had turkey too
merry christmas to you too
Merry crysis all
We dont have it here culturally but i wish you all a good new years eve
im not a cofi nerd
Do u like cofi
i drink it occasionally

i will just lurk here and occasionally make fun of how much money you spent on bean juice
the beginners setup for 2025 is definitely a plastic v60 and a stovetop kettle
and use a gooseneck kettle
this setup will cost you $50 in filters, cone, glassware, kettle, maybe throw in an additional $20 for a nicer scale
the higher end setup is a hario switch + fellow stagg
$50 scale
in this picture youll see pretty much the setup I started with
minus the $5 coffee scale with timer

deffo a v60
oh dev already responded
yeah all that

Wongster's getting into filter
when are you
you already have the most expensive part, the scale
all you need now is a cone and filter papers
@thorny hare curious if youve looked into subscription based coffee
yeah thats the point
if you were on a subscription, would that entice you to drink more coffee?
yes and no
I'm on like, a very erratic coffee plan
id feel like id be wasting money
I have 7 bags downstairs and last month I had 1 bag that lasted me a month
id like to minimise the amount of waste and money spent in coffee and if i can drink without needing a plan then im good
to bust the myth tho, coffee's still decent even after the initial 4 week after degasing period
I'm not addicted
on work days I barely drink coffee
on weekends I drink a lot of coffee
it's just a matter of hobby, time, passion
oke
if i get into subscription based coffee then im cooked
okay well like
maybe like 1 bag of square mile 350g every 6-7 weeks is not that bad
now i think about it
but im not getting 3 bags per month
but what if you're just in a casual 200g bag a month subscription, just to be excited about new coffee coming in once a month, whatever coffee that might be
that would be crazy delulu
could be a randomized bag
no
i wont be happy

because i want to use a bean consistently
and learn to grind it at a perfect size
and do a perfect shot
if i get new beans every month im relearning shit
and its not fun
considering im still a beginner
and i cant even steam milk consistently
so yeah its not gonna be a fun time
i mean i probably will buy the square mile beans from now on
and like every 5-6 weeks
the 46 54% coffee
if i got into pourover, red brick isnt too good i think
i know its more recommended for espresso
I thought it was omniroast
ah, they list it for espresso and it's a medium
yeah
i wanna try this though
but fuck me bro
£16 for one bag is crazy
fk i might want sweetshop
it sounds cool
with an 18g shot that's 80pence a shot
and thats 1pound a shot
what basket are you using?
even though im using competition vst
are you tamping the right amount for the basket?
yuh
¯_(ツ)_/¯
when i remove the puck
if you think youll make better 18g coffee in a 20g basket go for it
interesting
just bits of wet coffee grinds stuck in the basket
sometimes its never a smooth puck
make sure your basket is fully dry before you put coffee in
thats one of the ways that can happen
you use a puckscreen?
it could be making inconsistent edges
its like one of these
yeah that could be it
grab the mhw3bomber ring its $10
yeah
its in my ali basket
gonna get me one of these brushes too
first thing im doing when im back is a deep clean
yeah grouphead maintenence is key
gonna descale + cafiza everything
gonna unscrew the grouphead plate thingy
and clean that
the gaggiuino mod had a descale button but idk how to utilise it
there you go
man I should opensource mod an espresso machine
that'd be so cool
put software on it so I can make it make the perfect coffee when it detects I wake up or something

grind some coffee for it before bed, put in the water
wake up to some nice coffee
damn right
im thinking of getting a smart plug lmfao
so it turns on when im in bed
and i go shower, go into the kitchen
perfect temperature n everything
just need to measure 18g, put it in the grinder
yeah try that
turn it on when you wake up, or make it turn on at 8am or something
tplink makes a smartplug you can buy for about $10
yah
yah
Thanks
Looking at what the Gaggiuino is right now, man you're blessed to have found that deal and secured it @thorny hare
the best coffee machine is one you can understand and maintain, and you've got it
hm
i mean i dont understand a lot of it dev
half of it is science
lol
i just put it into adaptive, do 18g and pray for 36g out in 30 seconds
it tastes good and im happy
ive just ordered a grouphead cleaning and dosing funnel off ali there
at least it's capable of being understood
yeah i think
unlike some Italian machines designed to be maintained and that's it
the water level meter is bork i think but i dont care
everything is rigid and unservicable by yourself otherwise
i mean im glad i knew how to replace the thermal fuse
i panicked big time
but the tutorial was easy and ShadesOfCoffee sold replacement kits
nice
how long does shipping from China take?
usually 8 days
but this time it said 2 weeks
so im fine idc
i go back to my flat in 2 weeks so
Attaching an inducution motor to a hand cranked coffee grinder. Just an experiment, but we ended up using it daily!
http://woodgears.ca/kitchen/coffee_grinder.html
I might do one of these
Getting a little tired of minute long grind sessions
or you could maybe.............
get a df64v
df64v has a new gen2
considering I'm using it this newyears at a camping session
but
df64v at home
nah
i mean it can be quieter and has variable RPM
if you want to grind for filter and dont mind waiting or something
and grind faster for espresso
going to be so caffeinated
hope you get jitters

Thailand is building a cafe culture unmatched by any other country I've seen. Giant cafes with lush gardens, turquoise pools, and interactive photo spots are popping up all around the country. The areas around Bangkok and Chiang Mai have seen the biggest spikes of new cafes. So wit...
LOL
We're not obsessed with coffee, we're just obsessed with the cafe environment
does this guy actually answer the "why" question without a bunch of fodder
as in, is it worth my time to watch it
basically
cafes are built to be an escape in big cities
cafes are built to have greenery in big cities with little greenery
and cafes are made to be taken photos in for likes on Instagram

My first espresso machine, a rocket appartamento, has turned into a testbed for all my ideas of how much technology you can pack into an espresso machine. Let me share what I've done, and please ask about what you would like to hear more of!

dream machine
perfect frame
it's got a custom control board hooked up to a phone app and GUI
seems like a fun project
yeah, all the bits are a one-at-a-time thing
the machine itself is already pretty awesome, analogous in a beautiful way
when / if i get more time on my hands i could see myself doing some for fun cofi machine modding
I took my flair lever camping the other day
didn't even get to use it cause it's hard to get the right temperature water in the middle of the woods with little equipment 😦
what a surprise lol
ended up just doing acidic pourovers, acidic cause low-temps means more sour than sweet
halfassing it with water 10degrees lower than it should be, so all the "fruity" coffees just tasted vaguely sour
im considering making another cappuccino
and all the "chocolatey" coffees just tasted vaguely... coffee-y
same
considering making another pot of this Kenyan I've been digging
considering if I should go to work tomorrow
man, wish I didn't have a job rn
i wish i didnt have school rn
work starts at 2Jan but 4Jan is already saturday
so I'm in for 2 days before I'm off for another 2
sucks ass
could really use a break
this year is panning out to suck
like i would have been fine if i didnt constantly have things on the side that matter more to me
lol
but its also my own fault for not prioritising my own stuff enough
i dont mean that as like playing games is more important than school lol
eh
maybe this is coming from a point of low discipline, but you've gotta live too
can't live everyday in a churn, not made to do a 9-5 whether that's work or learning
I guess that's why Finland's got that highpraise for being all happy
cause they hardly work and school but make the most out of the hours that they do
or I guess that's how it's portrayed, not entirely sure how it really goes on there lol
i live in denmark its like a pretty good system here too
that's good, I've got friends who go do Denmark like, every year
must have something good for them to go from Thailand all the way to Denmark
just have had like an unfortunate combination of stuff and im really behind
just hoping to pass the exams tbh
so i can avoid doing a re exam
sounds like you need a cappuchino
I'm drinking a Corona right now so maybe I'll have coffee next
very low hopes i even pass
It's still technically Christmas, so holiday miracles are still at play

That looks crazy

those cups are really cute
Yah I’ve seen
Yeah I’m gonna need decaf beans
Decaf americano is shit
Decaf tastes the same as non decaf if done right
I've had days like that, I use a cordless drill using a low RPM setting with my cheap normcore conical burr hand grinder.
I recall the hex shaped shaft on that grinder fitted the drill chuck precisely.
Yes had that
But
Decaf tastes shit
What
Decaf goes stale drastically faster than standard roasted beans. Unless you have some way of displacing or removing air from the container you store the beans in, leaving coffee in the bag isn't the best idea for long term storage.
Decaffeinated coffee tends to taste underextracted in my experience
I had ones where it was identically same
But generally bad
This is because you buy them how?
What kind of coffee
Is this beans
Is this from a shop
Is this like bottles coffee
if it tastes underextracted, it's probably cause it's just, old
yeah used to grind with a cordless brushless on a timemore
but the drill's nowhere to be found now lol
Just ordering decaf americano
They must be using shit ass old beans
probably
Swiss water process? That tends to go stale the fastest.
Supercritical carbon dioxide is less disruptive to the structure of the coffee beans, but in the case of decaf the beans are more porous than they ordinarily would be after roasting- hence the accelerated aging.
interesting, didn't know this
I should try decaf, but hard to get my hands on decaf when my country runs on caffeine and taurine
@thorny hare you still owe me a nice little mt fuji glass coffee pic
Oh yeah
I want to make a shot of coffee before I send a photo though
But sure I’ll send you a photo
well yeah that's what I was waiting for lol
Might be my 0.5x
My phones 1x is cooked
Yeah I can’t do that until later next week

pocket coffee set for camping
Might be able to run a 9Barista on that.
speaking about this
i might go to my flat tomorrow
if the weather is okay
but its been heavy snowing and my front tyres have no tread
so thats a great idea
but first thing to happen is full clean of the machine
That'd be sick actually
didn't even think about that, but the 9Barista is like, the perfect camping coffee gadget
Exactly. Pre-pack in your coffee, and add the water and heat when you're settled in. Though the thing that annoys me about the 9barista is isn't not capable of brewing for more than one at a time, and it needs to cool down between shots.
That's a big issue for me
cause at camp sites I'm going through a bag an hour lol
those little 200-300g pouches get destroyed, the demand
Are you using a French press?
No, pourover is my main method when camping
might explore immersion but that requires taking more gear, not taken that into account yet
I have a 9Barista and I can agree it is great for camping but again it's a slow brewer, and it can't really do batch brewing. But with a 22G basket, espresso from it can really pack a punch.
the only viable thing for brewing for multiple people in my mind is those wacaco systems
the picopresso for coffee grounds
ugh
but it's not great, not a lot of coffee in coffee out
but hey, at least it's small and relatively fast
but you can't use it as an improvised grab-and-throw weapon like the 9Barista.
I'm sure someone at the campsite will setup their tent wrong so I'll have a tent pole to use as an impromptu weapon if I need
or I guess one of the many pots and pans
open the speciality coffee discord
get HIT with this list
when the daily beans is $250 a kg
crazy bunch of mfs
bruh
Are we friend of the affogato?
And tiramisu?
Because i love both
And i enjoy affogato with ristretto more
yes
yes
I get affogato damn near everyday at the icecream shop next to my work
Nice nice
Yeah
how should i do this volcano?
like an iced latte?
but dont stir the milk?
or pour the espresso ontop of the milk?
the milk is best when its the coldest
how much milk?
if you struggle to get the right look at the top, try pulling coffee over a spoon
so that it doesnt penetrate too far
about almost to the top of the glass
leave maybe an inch and a half of room
ok let me try now
its funny how much room the coffee takes up in comparison to the milk lol
wish I could make a dirty right now, but cba to go get milk lol
just chugged a Coke lite tho so I guess that's still caffeine
Sorry it’s very dark I got no lights lol
Wow that was tasty
Pog
Big penetration tho
Fuck just made the best latte I’ve ever made
Bruh that volcano is such a bitch to clean
we call it a dirty, props to the guy somewhere in Bangkok who discovered it
yeah thats a lot of flow tho out of your machine
the raw cold milk is really complemented by darker coffees, some even just make a ristretto over it
I got new coffee in today tho, got a bag of Kenya and a bag of Thai Red Honey process, Lica Estate "Mae Daet Noi"
they gave me month old Kenya tho 😦 probably doesn't sell very well, but it's fine, two weeks after degas period is fine, and it's only a 100g bag so I'll finish it like... tomorrow
tastes a tiny stale, but it could also be that I was using one of my worst drippers lol
a couple months ago I almost completely melted my plastic v60 putting it ontop of a kettle over an open flame
yooooo, a heart
Yeah I don’t think I want to use that cup again
It’s a disaster to clean
This is unfortunate
fair fair
definitely something to bust out friends around, not an everyday cup
yea
@thorny hare whats your cupboard lookin like when it comes to cups and mugs
thinking of outfitting with some more glassware
just do what the japanese do and put 24k gold in the cracks
i now have:
2x white ikea mugs
1x blue mug
1x volcano mug
2x pink espresso cups
thats all
its just a blue latte mug
i shattered the companion for it
Blue Mug2 shattered today
now its just Blue Mug1
😦
been thinking of grabbing some of these
coincidentally also blue
you know loveramics tho?
handmade ceramic cups that are just a little overpriced
nope
do cups matter
like
do i need to get branded mugs
its literally just ceramic
so probably not?
i want to get matching pastel pink latte mugs though
or ffs
i want to fucking get low profile drip tray
so i can pull a shot into a latte mug
lol
nah branded mugs dont matter
the best mug I've ever owned that I had cherished (shortly before dropping it) was turned by some japanese guy for his college project
very much handmade, very much anonymous, and now very much gone
the only good thing about "branded" mugs is just consistency in the case that you plan to buy more in the future
breh
hard to ship ceramic across the country
fair
look up loveramics on your amazon
thats cute
yes they exist
but they cost a lot
lmfao
yeah everything on amazon is expensive i guess
lol holy coffee mug
21oz mug is crazy work
i need to remember that over here you need to write "cappucino" and not "latte" for mugs.
you get mocha cups for latte mugs
the tall silly ones
i want pink ones
yeah this is nice
this looks like great value wth
comes with saucers and a stand?
well yeah, that's the whole point, it's a pantone color
yes
lol this is so funny
its kinda cute
they made it work
they even make one in espresso size
i have this pink hydroflask
all the pantone 182 things
oh look, found a cheaper smaller one
The Pantone mug is a stylish and colourful addition to any kitchen or office coffee counter. Get your day off to a flying start or add a creative spark to any meeting by serving coffee or tea in one or more of the 18 Pantone colours available. The cup is handmade made from fine china (ceramic) an...
could repurpose that as an Americano cup
Simple latte heh
cappuchino, Americano, espresso, iced coffee
the fact that the camera that took the photos isnt color calibrated is concerning lol
these are macchiato cups
nah this is a cupping cup
lol
all the colors except for pantone 182 lol
ah right
do it jordan, ill grab a cup with you
pantone things are expensive...
okay look ill consider a latte cup in pantone 182
But fuck lovely
aliexpress search is crazy
yeah good middleground
i kinda want one
fuck sake
pantone 182 steel ruler
would
go so fucking hard
oh my gosh
pantone 182c booklets
with pink dots inside
pantone 182c vase/jar
bruhhh
j for jordan, coincidence?
almond blossom wtf
ah i see
fuck that
oh fuck
182 laptop sleeve
OH MY GOD
NO WAY
NO WAY
PANTONE 182 TOTE BAG
FR?
WOAAAAH
WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
OAOAOA that would be a great beach bag
I got these
middle is my all time fav from tchibo
blue one for my decaf month where i stop taking caffeine xd
one of my favorite colors is close to Pantone 2048
Imma look for pantone's green palette
there was a colour dark forest green
How much is that for you?
500THB is about $15
so about $17.5
for the espresso cup
even more dear than for you

182 keychain
found it
bet they dont make a mug that color
Im gonna look for some custom mug sellers that have good quality machines
Some tones of green gives me peace by just looking at it
they do dark green but meh
@thorny hare you started this

Not made with actual cadmium...we hope.
Ahah i hope so
made portable coffee today
isobutane gas canister, stove, convenient single cup pouring kettle that fits into my backpack's water bottle pocket
I'm unstoppable now that I'm capable of making coffee without electricity
Without it being channelled and underextracted.
This arrived in the post this morning.
The interior base of the mug is rounded which makes for easier cleaning, it's really hefty for 300ml mug.
i took a flair once
but uh, not great, didnt get to use it much cause lots of space requirements and temp requirements
next best thing at that stage of the game is moka
or if you have about $400 to spend, a 9barista, but not a very fast and pleasant experience for outdoors, but it is probably the best true portable espresso
Moka pot
You chow down so much coffee man
nah I make coffee for a lot of people
Oh right
I wouldn’t mind some
Finally got a coffee dosing tray that doesn't scatter beans everywhere. Unfortunately, its shape does resemble a hospital bedpan.
nice
I have this lilydrip shaped one
good thing about it is you dont have to tare, it's 20g
been thinking for the longest time of getting a different one tho, but havent decided which
That's well thought out. I just checked: mine weighs in at 115.4g
but yeah i also like the portability
plastic, can't break, not as "cool" and nice to use as a ceramic tho
mine came in a set of two, there is the small one I used in that photo but there is a bigger one that carries more beans, probably a bigger dose for french press/ pourovers.
update on the slander, it's actually hongkong dollars
so $170 is $21
which is a little more reasonable
idk man, I like the "these beans taste good, good price, somewhere in Africa?" approach
someone ask me where the beans I'm using are from, without looking at the bag I can just say Africa
technically the truth, and like, 80% hitrate
"where your beans from?"
"like half south america and half africa, arabica blend"
Land.. far far east from here..
oh man this coffee tastes good
funnily enough, that $10 a kg coffee I showed actually tastes pretty good
very chocolatey, smooth, just medium-dark
I have been getting good brews from this:
It's fruitier as espresso, in a French press the chocolate notes become more prominent.
Sounds nice
finally got a bottomless portafilter
its beautiful, so much easier to clean
interestingly I have found my grind size has to be much smaller
yeah naked is less resistance
I’ve gotten a coffee at this spot twice after my haircut and every time it doesn’t disappoint
Took me this long to find this coffee spot in my own local town
Bruh
I am so happy with tchibos beans
i made some nice foam today
raided the coffee shop and made a nutella mocha
cause their interpretation of mocha was just a generous teaspoon of hershey's chocolate syrup, and a doppio + cold milk
barely a mocha

look at you doing things
that was a good caffe mocha
I put a bit of angostura orange bitters into my mochas, it works well despite any other union of chocolate and citrus being cursed.
lies, orangee and chocolate 2nd best flavor combo after peanut and chocolate
man
peanut butter icecream in a nice iced latte, that's a recipe for success right there
wait what
I pulled a double shot of decaf coffee rather than buying one
it was awesome
fuck that coffee shop that sells bad black water
I do a pb and yogurt mix in my morning latte if I didn't get breakfast and lunch
Otherwise its just good ol iced Americano
always do the job
my friend bought a full auto machine
something something delonghi but idk, gonna try next week
AI powered bean to cup

@rare acorn do you have this trapezium shelf thingy
but yes, i have a trapezium shelf thingy
Can I have a photo
thank you
yeah might get a friend to make me one
Currently giving my DF83V a change-of-beans cleanout....I hate this.
shouldnt be that hard, how long since you last cleaned it?
Cleaning the auger that pre-breaks the beans was the most annoying part. there is a locking catch that prevents the grind dial from turning with it - if you lose that tiny part you're screwed.
Thankfully I didn't lose it, but I wish the manufacturer designed the grinder so it was easier to clean without the risk of losing parts.
plus I also use the RDT technique to limit the amount of static on the ground coffee, so it is possible that the extra moisture is causing my grinder to retain a bit more than it normally would.
That isn't who I think it is?... Right?
Lance?
yeah its lance
people are buying these dollar funnels
and using them as the new dripper
its like, a v70
made of PP so it's resistant enough for coffee
having an uh
Finca El Jardin
pretty nice, tastes like coffee
what are you guys drinking
I'm also having some 7/11 coffee
i have been beanless for like 3 weeks
What is worse, being without beans? or having beans so freshly roasted they are loaded with gas and I can't even make a decent brew in my french press because the ground coffee floats to the top all the time?
I'm going to have to rest this batch. Fortunately I have one of those vacuum canisters that should help outgas the coffee.
I've not been posting very much here cause I've been doing coffee as a daily keep-me-alive sorta thing for the last few weeks
or at the latest, I went and made coffee at the beach with a few friends basking in the insect-ridden cold air looking at the stars
made some Kenyan, dripped it hot then poured over some ice, made for a very nice caturra experience, so very vanilla-forward, a tiny boozy, nice hint of acid mixed in with bitter, and overall sweet
freshly roasted you just gotta go for it
I just pour with less agitation if I know it's gonna be bubbly and mad at me for attempting to brew it
but luckily all the fresh fresh roasted stuff I make filter with so no chance at it channeling and blowing up a portafilter
might get beans on monday
not sure
nice
i have been sick 2 weeks and did not have cofi
now i am back
it feels very very nice
Tea just doesn't do the trick.
I've been having some red oolong tea, prepared Gong Fu, decent but not the same
Out of curiosity I tried making a V60 with it, and my god the bloom phase was deeply unsettling to the coffee bed, it was so gassy I had to tamp it down in a possibly misguided effort to prevent channelling. It wasn't the best cut of coffee...
Did you swirl?
yeah I did, but it left a bit of a depression in the middle that I wasn't happy about.
I guess there is such a thing as coffee being a bit too fresh.
The depression in the middle is okay if you just dont pour in the middle for a while
That's probably the problem. I started the pour a bit too soon. I think I'll leave this coffee for the French press - I've been getting good results even though I have to leave it for longer to fully immerse.
If it tastes good there's nothing wrong with doing filter
Even if its not perfect extraction it can still taste good
using it in the filter resulted in coffee that was acidic and tasted underextracted. In the French press extraction is better but the texture is probably occluding some of the flaws in it.
I don't need to buy another coffee mug, I don't need to buy another coffee mug...
durian
I will finally get coffee beans tomorrow

Im gonna buy some irish cream syrup today
I also tried that scooping into the glass thing
oh?
Where they shape icecream in a certain way to create a box shape in the middle
for espresso to fill
but does not change anything
i mean why would it
just pull the coffe over icecream...
just for looks
yeah, but they go through so many outtakes doing that kind of stuff.
still, will visit italy someday for those 1 euro espressos
I believe those semi clean machines are superior to mine
European Espresso is very different from ?American styles, it is a lot stronger. Though I do heat from my Eurpoean colleagues here that Australian Espresso reminds them of home.
I live in istanbul, i believe ours more similar to eu ones
We also have turkish coffee that is VERY strong but practically nothing like espresso
ooh I've spent some time in Istanbul, I know of the delights of Turkish coffee. As much as I wish I could emulate, it I know I wouldn't be able to do it successfully.
I make do with my 9Barista and my French press.
abroad right now, missing the free affogato from the cafe next door
didn't bring a dripper but I did bring my handgrinder, waiting for filter paper and a dripper to come lol
i had an amazing one in italy at basically a monastery lol
That is a messy grinder..
