Sight thing is done
Just need to work out some of the mechanisms
Like the seed loading
mechanisms?
what mechanism?
@grizzled nebula go to australia and photograph a cassowary
so the seed has to be eaten out of holes on the side
if u pay for the flight no problem
i'll even go tomorrow
oh u gotta pay for the hotel aswell
I don't know if it's that expensive
I dont understand how the seed just doesnt fall out of the holes on these
going to australia by plane
guess
idk if that model is good
But it's not okay to fill the whole feeder.
The seed may rot and have to be thrown away
notversly
its fine lmao
if you have an active feeder its fine
yes
are you doing that?
but like i think i wouldnt need better gear in a few years even if i bought the tamron, im not really at a competitive level yet so does it really matter that much?
i mean it's ur choice, i'd just rather spend a bit more to get something significantly better
okay i'll think about it
also if u ever upgrade to canon mirrorless the tamron would be awful to use due to AF issues
(third party telephoto lenses have very bad focus breathing issues on canon mirrorless)
one question
...
Do you think I can improve anything else with my current camera?
do you shoot in auto or do you manually set shutter speed and iso?
manually
S mode
s mode should be automatically setting your iso
can you tell what your iso was set to for this image?
1600
i use auto iso
80-1600
and +2
in the exposure dial
hb shutter speed for that one
what's hb?
how about
settings aren't bad then. could try M mode out, set shutter speed to 1000, take control of ISO and lower it to 1000 at least to start. you can go lower on the shutter speed if the bird is perched and you stabilize the camera
the noise is what is really hurting you it seems, and probably not completely avoidable with the small sensor on that camera, but you can mitigate by lowering iso
maybe 800
But to get a sharp photo, do you think 1/800 is worth it?
for a stationary bird 1/800 is more than enough
it's just his camera overprocessing
if the bird is perched and you stabilize the camera - examples. much lower on the d90, but it has a better sensor
first rec is always gonna be get a better camera lol, but you have room to squeeze a little out by going fully manual at least
the 90D sensor is about 3 times bigger than his
he has a phone sensor in a camera body lol
looks like my S21 ultra past 10x zoom
still owes it to himself to try full manual if he hasn't done that at least yet
😭
before buying new gear
yeah but i can take good photos
i mean ur photos are really low quality as expected
until u get something actually decent we won't be able to know
also you know u don't need to get a Z6III and 180-600 to get good pics
this ^^
it's like you need a car to get to the store, but you cant afford a benz...so you're just gonna walk?
i know
wdym
like buy a lower tier cheaper camera because it's still better than what you have now
Yes, but I prefer to save more for the good camera because if I buy that camera I'll have to save even more.
Well, I prefer to buy the Z6 III first, and later, well, I don't really know which is the best camera, I don't know if it's Nikon or Canon.
why?
because u just don't need it lmao
i do
because i need it
you can do birding on a lower tier camera
yes but i want professional results
i only need the camera
I want to compete with the rest
yeah
like saying i'm going to get an R5II with a 75-300
just get a less expensive camera and a good lens lol
you don't need a Z6III to get pro results

So why don't you do that?
u have an expensive camera
and lens
because i can afford it..
Besides, if I can afford a good camera, all the better.
get a z50ii
but you can't clearly
if you really want
i can
otherwise D500 or cheaper D7200 is all good
why don't u buy it then lol
Well, I have to go, goodbye.
i will answer u tomorrow
ded
he wont
aarvs what time is it for u
editing steam when
22:08
now?
insane background
holy
🔥
Also from saturday, havent edited all the pics yet lmao
culled and didnt look at most of them again
That one wil definitely need to be edited
This ones also sick
sad he isnt looking at me
little birds on posts are cool
managed to get a couple of Swifts! Tracking them is impossible, just had to shoot and pray. the results are eh too cause i had to crop on so much :I
I like to think swifts and swallows have a lower quality bar due to difficulty. like, can you tell it's a swift? god tier photo right there.
Professional level is bullshit, most cameras made recently, as in the past 13 or so years, that have a decently sized sensor will give you professional results lmao
I love this shot it's so cute
u should buy mine when i retire it
I'll buy the d750
when i retire that too
My d600 will retire itself first probably
this isn't a bird photo but this was taken on a camera that's worth $100 now
5d mark ii
woah
i remember getting buyers remorse of the d7500 because of the d500 lol
They are indeed
pijon
Yeah, not my rarest burd
More bird on a post
Took that one at very high shutter speed by mistake, turned out ok
robinnnn
phoebe 2024
i mean the image is really nice, i like the colors but it's a bit soft unfortunately
heavy crop i imagine?
from the d7500 150-600 days
eh tbf it's not too too bad
definitely the crop causing it. b/c this image is from the same loadout - no crop
forgot could just uncrop it lol
it is a litte soft tbf
looks like denoising made it soft
Not a wild o e I’m guessing?
hey guys do you think i can make money off selling 8x12 framed prints of birb photos?
im thinking of doing a thing locally and i wanna make a bit of money
printing and framing costs me like $13 cad (~9.50 usd)
Well ofc you can the question is just how much
i was thinking for starters like 30 cad per photo but idk if thats a good amount
i think as a start its good then i can eventually raise or lower accordingly
Tbh I would ask that yo some people who are actually experienced in professional stuff because I think the people in here just do it for fun and social media, not to sell prints lol
ah yeah
depends on the quality of pictures and if people will buy them
lwk got a headache from this conversation
lmao
good lens on a not the best camera will give much better results than a great camera with a not the best lens
example from one of my good friends he shot this on a canon t7 BUT he had a good 70-200 f2.8 (and knows how to use editing tools)
yeah this with a 400€ camera setup
zamn
knowing how to edit can make a huge difference too
i dont really know how tto edit but i did definitely improve since the day i shot these:
So why are you recommending that I buy the Z6 III?
What I really want is to take photos like yours.
thats really nice
I like the photo, but it lacks quality.
i should get a 70-200 f2.8 at some point
I think if I had a camera like yours I could get similar photos.
my widest is 50mm lol
i already own one
i think
im kinda poor right now
why
the example i sent above is a good example of a good lens on a not so great body
invest in lenses
ah
a6700
sigma 18-50
tripod
gitzo gimbal
im looking at the 24-120 f4
wimberley
Yes, but if I'm looking for a good camera sensor and good quality, the camera matters quite a bit.
thats true but an upgrade from a t7 really wouldn't hurt
yeah he uses an a7iii now
you can easily go for like a nikon d7200
For example, if I had taken this with a Z6 III it would surely be a good photo
not exactly
but it lacks quality
a better camera does not always equal better photos
if you gave a z9 to someone who has no idea how to use a camera and like a d7000 to someone who knows very well i think the d7000 guy would probably end up with a better end result
not really
unappealing perch, bird is looking away from u
I use a 13 year old camera
yeah that one is not a straight export from lightroom
It is wild
pheasants are just stupid
if you sit somewhere for long enough theyll just walk right past you
they also dont really get spooked as long as you arent 50cm away from them
Yeah, pheasants are fairly chill
I havent caught one of those het
my mom said she saw pheasants like 200m from where i live
ill go when im not sick anymore
I know this ridge! Isn’t this taking from up top the shafberg near wolfgangsee?
I'd put this above my bathroom toilet for sure
I was in a mansion in Tampa for an event one time and the bathrooms had various animals taking a piss photographed on canvas and hung up
Mt Pilatus Switzerland
Nah
That’s crazy
Since I got my camera I have only seen one
So sad
Bro the long tailed tits recently
My dad was doing garden work and I looked down from my room and the long tailed tits we’re like 2m away from him
got pretty sick pics yesterday because of that
Damn it looks so close
just found a used wimberley ii in 'very good' condition for $296 after shop discount 🤔
pretty good
So why are people constantly telling me to buy that camera?
in that pic the foreground is very unnatural and a camera wont fix that
Can someone explain to me what S mode actually does?
Can't I get a good picture of eating at the feeder?

what?
Sure, but now the sparrows go there naturally all the time.
Besides, I don't know if I have better places.
good price for it
so yeah...
you can find sparrows in the forest too
i know
But now I'm experimenting with feeders.
And it's a way to have them by your side and very close.
Besides, my camera isn't suitable for forests; it's very dark.
my forests are not dark
Because we thought you could afford it
Also no they aren't
i can afford it right now
right now
but in 1year probably ys
strange
why dont you buy it then
and you can find birds at fields too
wdym
read the sentence maybe
I already go to fields and such, but I'm talking about the feeding area; I think there must be some way to get a photo.
Step 1: find something to take picture with
Step 2: go to a place where birds eat
Step 3: take said picture taking device and use it to take pictures
Picture taking device I didn't know those existed for taking pictures
Wanted to include other means besides a camera. Maybe someone here is really into camera obscura techniques
Or a phone user
But one is significantly cooler than the other
It is
@undone slate
ok ok

so you can't afford it technically
yes
cause you need to use the money for other stuff
technically
yeah
idk if i could win 3k by internet stuff
And my bird feeder, from another perspective, looks like it has the leaves I hung in the background, so it might appear more natural.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET GREAT TITS TO THE FEEDER
HEELP
this
Is there anything more to improve?
Not a bird but I finally got a good deer pic guys
Almost uncropped too
Damn, this also works really good
still 12mp
that ones 30
I like the uncropped
sure
What focal length was this
600
I wanted to do deer but I do have to get a bit closer
Ik where the deer are at least
Yeah me too, but I'm happy that I got a pic from this close so having a headshot with that much detail is sick too imo
deer are pretty common here but my backgrounds are always too boring
Yea here as well, I see them pretty much every time I go out birding, very hard to get close to them tho
harder than birds at least lmao
that one ran over the road and then stopped and looked back at me, my cam was on the passenger seat of my car luckily so I was able to get a pic
Reminds me of the time I went to Nara, Japan years ago. Basically cheating for deer photos. Taken with a Panasonic TZ100 :
Nara is somewhere I would love to go again
You can pet the deer it's amazing
Deers even wait at crossroads there
yea they're super chill here just hang out in ppls yards
eating ppls gardens
Richmond park is pretty cool but they are aggressive
Cool
One bit my ass
That's so funny lmfao
damn that's insane
a pond, a river, an above ground pond, and an in ground pool?!
what the fuck
Goddamn how close were you
hmm not sure, like 10 meters maybe
maybe less
Just got an ID pic but I saw a black winged kite yesterday
Damn thats sick
give him to me
Yee, has been at that spot since sunday
And the best part, its only 15 mins from where I live
black winged kites are such beautiful birds
need to go to spain to see one of them
we have a very little amount of them in france
just in there there's probably more reported than in the entirety of france
Lool yeah theyre also really rare in germany but not as rare as 20 years ago
i need to go back to the gorges du verdon
multiple cinereous and egyptian vultures spotted recently
ffs fuck heat haze
same
@spring vault honestly... that photo is awesome
wew, isn't 1/5000 a bit much for such a big bird?
I usually shoot kites at 1/2000 and it is pretty much always fine
ISO is only 2000
light mode
2000 is still ok, but it is right on the edge of losing details
20000 iso
Was just trying things
that was from my bedroom window, dude is there every day
To be fair, it is very well lit. I am used to terrible lighting for birds in flight.
But also nah not really, I can go up to 8k if the bird is close enough
I find I can go to 12.8k without any significant detail loss
Why aren't u using EFCS?
I should stop looking at lab tests tbh
Especially when modern denoise is basically black magic
I am
Dang u can go to 8000 ss on efcs
Ah I meant iso
but ye, 1/8000th is Max
tiny birb make it cool
surprised i didn't get any flare to ruin the photo
well i managed to get access to that place just 1 min from me where there was a black swan
unfortunately it died last year apparently
and it flew
weird looking bird
my new feeder fell also
Sundog?
Nah just a halo
RIP whoevers car or window it hits
the new one landed in a balcony luckily
the old one not so much
Thats pretty funny to watch. It just said CYA
I remember that vid u sent 😭
is that the sun?
@grizzled nebula
I'm asking because it could damage your camera's sensor, i think.
your new feeder?
Ask chatgpt how to make it sturdy for shear winds
The new one is the video above
it is and it won't damage ur sensor at 24mm if you don't stay on the sun for too long
yes
yes
yeah I should
not full solar eclypse for me unfortunately
what's shear winds?
u can go
upwinds
to spain
actually no sorry
?
no
Strong random wind that causes shear forces on an object
that's for a bird feeder?
sudden strong winds that cause forces on objects usually in aviation
afaik
god that took a while to send
not usually
is that related to a feeder?
bad choice of words
related to everything
unless you are in the middle of space
cause i don't have a car..
thats a while
people have things to do
6h is a long trip
hmm
well idk
u can go by bike maybe
maybe
no
i mean
technically it is possible
technically...
i'd like to see you do 2 days of cycling
no it's not technically possible, most normal person's body can't handle it
I say with stops
you'd need to be a proper cyclist
even with stops
yeah
so we just upped that to like 4 days
like i don't understand him sometimes
idk
you arent alone
i don't have the time, the will or the atheltism to cycle for 2 days worth
I wouldnt even do a 2 day car journey for a solar eclipse
there is a place in spain where there's a 100% solar eclypse and is a place i want to go to anyway
but you can only get there by car
no public transport iirc
km works better
oh wait what
interesting
flight from where i live to barcelona are only 1h
so going to barcelona then deltebre (town in the ebro delta national parc) is basically as long as it would take me to get to camargue by car
you are very set on this idea on him going
i'll need to see if i can go then
cause i thought u could only go there by car
not sure i'll be able to go for the eclypse tho
Get n ur peugot and go go go
Less definitely
I was about 20-30m from One recently
Though I have been closer before but they were behind branches. Last year one almost ran into me
hmm
my new stuff could arrive in the next 2 days
well that's surprising
i will not actually pay the 5000 euros i said i would
Ok
hope i didn't just jinx it
what stuff
@gilded gale
here
being unable to grasp basic concepts and focusing on highly complex details that people typically abstract away screams neurospicy
speaking from personal experience
wdym?
noo
ruined photo
could've been ur best one too lmao
Dehaze that bitch
wdym
what's bitch
The dehaze slider
What???
in rapidraw
never mind
Yes
Should be under effects somewhere
I can't remember rapidraw but I'm almost certain it's somewhere
ok so try curves
curves?
Ok
yeah, not much else you can do - take it in an artistic direction lol
might try going to see the bee eaters again tomorrow
Fire
i want there to on a tree where i can have a green background
or just a background instead of the sky
i eat bees
reddit lowkey funny sometimes
Compression mightve fucked them up a bit but shouldnt everyone know about compression by now
Send link to post pls
I think reddit fucked em up big time, esp the 1st one
that ones also the biggest, 30mp still
Aarvs is going to photograph you
BLYAAAAAAT
LMAO
😭 😭 😭 😭 😭
bro needs to hide his activity history
Shot a vid guys
ignore the warping pls, I dont know shit about davinci resolve stabilization
i usually use translation mode
Bro I just checked, all his comments are either porn or camera related
average reddit user
this guy is a real weirdo
...
oh just realised lmao

maybe his eyes are soft
my guy is a certified gooner
Just realized its not really noticeable at normal speed and the vid looks just as nice imo
have u got to the granny stuff yet?
Guys should I upgrade to a7rvi
Okay I got to the r/HorseCockCreampie, I've seen enough
this can't be a real person 😭
did u watch jan's video
i didnt yet
but i saw he got some nice photos
that file size boutta be gigantic
no, just buy it for me
Watching this one rn
Lmao he said the buffer preview is new, I've had that activated since my a7iii
how in 2026 have sony not fixed the wide zone AF detection
oh my
file size aint too bad tbh but 9gb in 5 seconds isnt great lol
dang fr
that's something that canon could learn
i take about 300-400 pics a day
that's not true
but when i actually go out i do take about that
i would be finished
I'm at around 1k most of the time
if i go to a cool spot i can take up to like 3k
if i'm in a bird hotspot like camargue i can take up to 8k photos in a single day
elderly ppl in bird discords r the worst when they like one of your pics they don't give it a heart they give it a thumbs up 👍
a thumbs up on a pic is worse than no reaction at all
old people when they have to comment on anything
😍😍😍😍 👍👍👍👍👍👍🤯🤯🤯🤯🤩🤩🤩🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lmao my message got flagged as spam
(that means it is realistic enough)
Old people when they reply to posts :
some people arent very bright
especially these old 'wildlife photographers'
popular because they speak with an accent, is bald and has a white beard
only reviews worth watching are from young people who don't have an accent, have lots of hair, and their afro knows photo

Just remembered theres people working in the bee eater spot on week days so going there today would be super impractical
Gonna go saturday instead
(I have no other choice than to stay on the dirt road)
apparently a7rvi still has slower readout speed than r5
saw this on instagram
That's actually very smart
maybe he's the tour guide
like giving ppl birding tours and they do this instead of providing binoculars
yep
@spring vault pretty nice photo honestly
Where was that?
Birb in the back trying to steal the show tho
yes it's a juvenile, it was in camargue and yes it's wild
how u have wild flamingos
so lucky
ok ok
Flamingo
yeah
what's wrong with that
oh ok
wait no
i think it's called flamingo
yeah
idk
i'm getting so confused
help

dude you have flamingos
Flamingo
no
is the background water?
fym no
yes
Spain is home to wild flamingos, with the largest population located in the southern region of Andalusia
not in galicia
😭
he's in the north of spain
wait
the part just above portugal i think he said
is it a waterfall?
oh ok fair
no..
?
didn't u say u were around there?
perspective
Flamingo
Flaminghoe
what's flaminghoe
break it down
Flaming Hoe
what's that
AHH OKK
if you don't know, it's better that you don't know anyway
why
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I almost got killed by a flock of goose today. A hawk scared like 500 gees and they flew towards me. I was practicing birds in flight. By right before me they went to the left. Got sick shots
I love bird photography. Anything can happen lol
I mean you could probably work this out yourself
Not that you should
SO LUCKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Where was that?
"i almost got killed"
"SO LUCKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
That happened to me too, and I liked it
I like that feeling as long as I know I'm not going to die
That's insane lol
I would love to see these
what goose species?
AND WHERE WAS THAT
Looks less cluttered but still stupidly interesting
Great shots
ty! i wish they were sharper, idk what i did wrong, had 1/3200 shutter speed
Heat haze?
It probably wasn't your fault then
It looks relatively fixable though
But I don't think many people would like to crop in close with a photo like this
i did social media crop, 2048px long side
.
finland bro
You ask this like it matters though
it matters
Does it?
a lot
You can get a great bird photo anywhere
it was a annoying wing on the top left i wanted to crop out @naive fiber
here is another cool unedited one
Makes sense
Maybe centre the bird on this one
i know why they might be abit unsharp, i used 1.6x crop on my r6 mark 2, only 9mb file size
@naive fiber
600mm sometimes still quite abit too short lol
here is one of the hawks that scared them away, 600mm + 1.6x still too short xd
Seems so
yea
Yeah makes sense
That's apsc crop right
yup but its soo good
wish it was better picture
managed to get a bird in flight shot lets goo!
Is this how birds tell off
i filmed these today! tried to get videos of them fishing in the water when they fly straight down. looks so cool when they do
its so hard to follow them when they dive for fish. insanely fast
terns are really fun
so excited for the peregrine falcons
made the tern a slight bit brighter
@grizzled nebula just stand and practice a few days just by aiming at birds flying, i did that today. got so much better at locating and following them from just a day
Nah Ik how to do bif but parakeets are special
Crazy annoying to do
I train on swallows everyday
yeah haha. oh shit r6mark2 gang, autofocus is insane @grizzled nebula
R6II my goat
hard as fuck with a prime to follow birds tho. u have a zoom i reckon? @grizzled nebula
zoom and prime
oh shit. how is the 1.6x? @grizzled nebula
1.4x
and it's super sharp
this is a bit cropped too
pretty much no different to bare
shit might have to get one then gg, looks nice
the 600 IS II is so damn nice
i only have 600mm IS mark 1. @grizzled nebula idk how well the tc works for that
got it for 2800€ tho it was a steal
it's decent on the Mark I but not tack sharp at F/5.6 iirc
got mine for 3.9K
basically brand new lol
i need to travel to a different country to get a big lens. none on sale here in finland
only overpriced 500mm f4s
i found it from a french seller too so it was perfect
no import tax
3.9k for this lens in new condition is insane
cause it's usually 8k in mint condition
yeah i wouldnt spend 8k on a old lens
if i had 8k id get sigma 300-600mm f4 and a sony camera
the IS II is the sharpest 600 there is btw
it's got limitations btw
no tc and 15 fps
damn. yea my 600mm f4 makes my camera 7fps :c
5.5fps here
can do 40 fps in ES or 12 fps iirc in mech
at 6.3 it's pretty sharp
F/11 for absolute razor sharpness
the goat on 50 mp btw
i would like to try the sony 300 2.8
yes but only for the photo
Excellent++ they say
can't one hand it for more than 10s
So 600mm f4 mark 2 next upgrade for me then? @grizzled nebula does 600 mark 2 still have repairs? My lens cant be repaired
How much did that lens cost you? Is it a handmade lens?
nah i think they stopped last year
Handmade??
um
lmao
assembled by hand but not handmade
I thought I heard people say that there were lenses that cost 13,000 euros because they were handmade.
lens
google autocorrector
Most of the time lenses are expensive because they take ages to polish and smooth out
ages?
not a bird but bulls
That's 9x less the retail woah
in a farm
iirc if ed mark I is kinda mid
I was thinking of getting a rf 200-800 to get full spec for my camera and use the 600mm f4 on my 7d mark 2. Have u tried 200-800? @grizzled nebula
I don't know my lenses this well so please explain it to me lmfao
nope i have the 100-500
Can I get a good picture of a sparrow at my feeder or not?
you need to ask nikon users
How good is the 100-500?
I already decorated it with natural resources...
Yeah makes sense
but i think i've seen some say the mark I's are mid
insane
super light, super sharp and insane AF
great IS too
Too short or decent range?
I'm really annoyed that the 200 500 is a bad lens
I'm planning to do this for a birdbath in the summer
for bif can be short but salt manages to do it
No
Apparently the 200-500 is soft which is a shame for an f5.6 lens
maybe i could get a good photo with that
if i do that birdbath
with wood
can do some landscape with the 100-500 too
You need separation between background and foreground
he won't get any separation with his camera
And if I buy a lovebird, would I be able to take a good picture of it or not?
.
He will get a bit from what I have seen of one of his photos
he needs to get right into the face of the bird tho
Yeah that's true
This one
Yes, because it was very close.
@grizzled nebula might do the 100-500 then if i get a good deal! will be perfect for videos. doing that alot recently
I would have to get away
You need to be closer to those birds though
Peak bro
Yes, but the birds I photograph usually have a blurred background because they are small and I focus on the whole body.
barely any focus breathing too
ait sick! added u @grizzled nebula
this is how good the IS is
.
the wind was very strong and i am quite shaky
what's that
this was at 450mm i think
are u photographing right now aarvs
just an image stabilisation test
no, it's night time
use a tripod
Apparently my Nikon 70-200 has pretty bad focus breathing
not for me
Yet to test
wdym by breathing
what
what's wrong with
use a tripod
😭
why the fuck would i use a tripod with a 1.3kg lens
if i don't need to use a tripod i'm not using one
why not?
more freedom
So what is that thing in the video?
a ball head to attack my camera and lens to the tripod
You were saying you didn't use a tripod
it's for the 600mm bruv
@ 200mm, the lens is like a 120mm lens. As you move about 10 feet away from the subject, the focal length changes to approximately 165mm-170mm. When the lens is near infinity, the focal length is very close to actual 200mm.
the 600mm is 3.9kg and the setup is over 5kg
Damn that's significant
so for what are u using it
oof
nah i give up
Do you usually take the photos by hand?
.

Yes?
