Seed is a plant
Not yet it aint
How come it green then?
why r ur eyes green
Anyways this is what I was originally typing before I said nvm I don't care enough:
#🦀・creatures message
I tried bright and up-beat instead of cinematic and moody. Not sure how to feel about it, feels like my inner nature of wanting to make everything dark and depresso is screaming inside.
It’s a good image actually
I was just goofing around
lol
Lmao
Best channel on the server ❤️
I like the other one more actually
The duck is too hapy looking for moody
Ok
Just as a warning: I prolly won’t like it
Birb
Crow
That's pretty damn close
Yeah. It’s cropped. I don’t remember how much, but probably a decent bit
I wanna do a dad joke:
I it crowped
Usually you do crops for birds that there’s like 2/3 free infront of the bird so it has room to move there
I've cleaned up the light a bit in the OG. First is what I posted, second is the cleanup
At least that’s what j do
Both are nice
First one I feel like I need those bubbly fairy tale esque sparkle bokeh
Which I just don't have
No
You need star bokeh
star bokeh you say
This is the best analog lens you can buy trust me
INDUSTAR 50mm f2.8 WHICH MY FUCKING AUTOCORRECT ALWAYS PUTS IN CAPS sorry for the crashout
I think if you put a 2x tc on that you could do some bird photography
Of course 100mm won’t be much but for ducks that’s alright
Ducks that are used to humans
-# I hate ducks but yall post em so dang often I snapped photos of that one
Ducks are boring I agree
I want to see owls! Who has awesome owls?
Mallard or tufted can be nice if done correctly
Only duck I've recently found pretty cool
Ducks are practise birbs ‘-‘
I’ll send uncropped later if I remember. I just liked how the beach went to the corner. It’s all more clutter branches to the right anyway
Nah I think you can still make something nice with that
I agree, handhold this one at 500mm and 1/80s
The only owl I've ever seen in my life and there couldn't have been worse photo conditions
I would say maybe a bit less contrast
Yet it is an owl ❤️ lovely creatures
There was a stick infront of your lens?
Still nice image
A fence
Ok
Did my best to focus past it but it was quite thick
Cuz of bokeh
Thats a crazy eye you spotted it from bokeh, I thought the faint white lines over the owl's feathers was obvious
also stormy out so this was 1/250 just for enough light for 12.8k ISO to not look black so its all blurry
this bird is my pride and joy <delete photo bc its a tiger not an actual birb>
What about this guy
That’s a big bird
Tiney winey birb
Hey hey some would not consider is tiny alright
Its more about how it makes you feel anyway than just the look
I like the composition but it does not seem like focus is on the swan
Well idk it was first thing I noticed lol
Very saturated
Add some grain and then it looks like film
migrate blue to teal ^
Samsung phone moment
?
Like the camera didn’t focus on it? Or the swan doesn’t read as the subject?
I get that. I was trying to go for like an oil paint vibe when I was editing
Still pretty new to all this
Yeah and it’s good just needs some grain so it looks actually like that. If you do that this picture is gonna be really good
Sick. Thanks
Camera didn't focus on it? Or its super cropped in or something. Very blurry
I think it’s just exported in lower quality
I did send what I have saved on my phone
Might have quality dropped it
Pc version might be cleaner
It is cropped though
I already feel like I need a longer lens
This feeling will never fade
I can’t wait to get a 1200mm lens
“Once I get a good paying job”…
Pardon me father, I considered a P1100 for starting wildlife photography
Lmao
3000mm of trash range
You’re not the only one
I could try bringing my 1200mm camcorder
Actually no
Now that I have 600mm my Sony is better
To be fair, bridge cameras aren't that bad
But starting with that much range would have poisoned my mind forever
Frfr
Hear me out
1200mm lens with 1.4x and 2x teleconverter
And boom P1100 but better
Uh wait
F22
Lmao
fr
this is really nice (needs a better edit)
Pretty good for moon shots, not much else
p1000 is only 3000mm ffeq because the sensor is small. The actual lens is only 550mm or so. You could get a 600mm lens and crop
I WANNA SEE A WILD OWLLLL
I have seen them!
Nah if you got light birds are gonna be good
Sitting birds
If birds produced their own light, life would be so much easier
i technically have one
just need the 2x tc now
or i can get over 1200mm by using crop mode
gn bruv
Google says some birds are bioluminescent
good night
I only got 500 mm 🙁
huh?
sadge
Nuke them
Radiation will lit them up!
Few more months and i’m going to buy new lens. Still looking
What editing could save it?
Well I learned something today
which one u got rn
150-500 tamron
i wanna try editing it
it's an alright lens tbf
good luck
Well some said get the sony prime 600 4.0. Then i looked and said ehh 14k? 😂
Problably going for 200-600 sony lens.
that's insane for 12.8K
it's so clean*
R6II/R8 sensor goated
smh, no light
Same reaction, details are so good I wouldn't even bother denoising
What a bokeh
Oh nice!
Is it a bit green or is it just the bird
I would love you to drop the raw
so hmm, i started an edit and didn't like so i went fun mode 😭
feck wait i forgot to change something
noooo
Might be a bit green, also from the leaves reflecting on the bright bird
I see
Nice shot
Thanks
I like it but since I know what it looked like IRL I wouldn't personally think to edit it like this
when the original lighting is quite crappy i like to completely edit it and make something nice instead of just keeping it crappy lol
but sometimes i may go a bit too far
slightly less over saturated
maybe idk
I just threw it in the scrap bin because of the fences in it anyways. Kinda random I found the cr3 still
i mean u can barely see the fence
always most critical of your own stuff I suppose
yOU'VE GIVEN ME AN IDAE
sorry caps its my PTT key
masked the background and lowered texture and sharpness completely
ah
makes the bokeh nicer too
the mask hates this feathers right here
it's like this in the original
probably fence messing with it
i think that's just how it's feathers are tbh
What is your tech for the color shift of the leaves to that autumn yellow? WB, HSL sliders or something else?
idk, i used a preset and then made changed to that preset and made it my own preset
oh
but the leaves colors were basically like that so that's why i used it
it looks really nice for some pictures
ima give it a shot '-'
I've never used a preset
this is when i first used/edited the preset
is that 16:9?
it's good to give u a starting base which u can then adjust
can't remember
Just makes me feel like I'm not learning
i usually don't really use presets i don't make tho
this was the rare occasion on which i did
On my phone right now, this us what I came up with by tinkering a bit
i use it on other stuff too cause i really like it
(no i don't edit all my landscape like this)
looks very hazy and low contrast
also very low saturation
Scene has already tons of contrast, didn't want to add much
I'll play with my owl photo later see if my idea works at all
my screen is not particularily good either so i can't judge edits perfectly
I like the gold shift. I wouldn't have thought of that since there was no original yellows
To be fair, I am editing that on a 3" surface at minimum brightness lol
my screen's brightness is fake
if i make it bright the black become grey, if i make it dark everything just become too dark
the white become overexposed
even the windows menus lmao
Oh yeah, I just bumped brightness to maximum, edit indeed lack contrast
64gb ? Do you edit raw video?
I have a fancy color accurate monitor with TRUEBLACK 5000 rating
no but lightroom + chrome uses about 24gb
Then you have all the other windows processes etc
lightroom can also use the entire 32gb when doing photo stitching
I also have 32Gb and never have been bothered by it
my gpu is also dying
like, i'm running multiple apps just fine on 16gb, faster than my other computer that has 72gb of ram
at this point it's a matter of cpu/gpu, not ram
Latest update improved things a bit for sliders
Yeah, you are set for the years to come
my GPU and especially CPU are more than powerful enough
I had to chance of being a gamer before having an interest in photography
RTX 3080TI with Ryzen 7 9800X3D
idk pc stuff lmao
oh yea, apple uses unified memory so it's 16gb shared for both ram and gpu's vram
pretty cool
i dont even know how much vram i have 🔥
Almost bought a 5090 before buying the R6II
You have a modern Mac
So basically as much as you want
i have 0 regrets getting my camera gear over a gpu
Because your RAM is also your VRAM
bet ur mcdonalds can't run doom
think i had some youtube video running
i downloaded a game on my camera
smh
was it doom tho?
cold
almost done 😄
I think a bit less sat and a bit more orange?
Sunset style
That my cook the photo I fear
Deep fry style
looks quite nice but there's lots of green on the head
too tired to do a proper edit ngl
i really don't like this edit
ykw i'll try it tomorrow
hehe
try this (not an owl)
ooh i double clicked now lightroom opens x2 AAH PC crashing...
oooh thato ne
Bro your lens is 😍
Photo is already so good I barely edited it
ooh I like this one
Not much going except some exposure/wb corrections, very light linear mask and a bit of vignetting
oh i opened LR once and now I get to wait for 5 minutes
Ministry of silly aspect ratios gave me a call
(I need sleep, it is 00:15 here)
exporting exporting.. xD
Something like this @grizzled nebula
If it was my own shot I would problably go over it for a few days to make it bettar
sometimes simple is amazing ❤️
I like to see you using somewhat the same crop I did 😄
Yup, once you get rid of the folliage and the log it will pretty much leave you with that
not the exact same shot as the one i sent but this was my edit
i should've probably showed the whole branch
the vertical going up yea
that's maybe a bit too crop in imo
when i say too cropped in i mean i don't have enough mp for these kinds of crops
imma try getting a little closer tomorrow
would be nice to have more MP though
yh, i wanna get the R5II
I feel like getting more height on it would be a bigger pay off than getting closer
like closer to eye level
i mean with woodpeckers it's basically impossible
they never go low
except if it's in a park
and i don't have one near me
You got high ground?
no
rip
every place that has a high ground has no woodpeckers
made this one simply because i was on the highground and the tree began lower 😄
where i live
looks nice
i have a black woodpecker not far away from where i live
still haven't been able to see it
ooh really?
only heard it
yh they're not super common and are incredibly difficult to photograph
Tell me about it
I go out hunting for the pileated woodpecker near my house often, always out of sight. meanwhile my family member sends me this, "this thing is in my yard, what is it. im mowing the lawn and it's not even worried about me"
imma try to go look for that black woodpecker again
i have golden eagles not super far away from me too
a possibly breeding pair was seen and reported on ebird
Nice!
Night
meanwhile an owl os oohoooing 🤣
Driving me nuts yall aren't using a standard aspect ratio
Haha
Same weird texture I was trying to say in the version you posted
I think its part of the fence I'm focused past
this is not the same area you told me earlier
oh I see further up
like the colors on the one u posted are weird
No idea, I didn't use remove tool or anything AI like that. I guess its foilage since I didn't modify the leaves besides saturation
i'd also raise texture on the owl
Its maxed
cause it looks kinda soft rn
texture???
Yes
dafuk
I'm pretty happy with this version. No crazy colors or saturation wildness
I still don't like the photo because of the fence
what did u use to denoise
LightRoom
Shouldn't be, its not very noisy at all anymore
denoised with dxo if u wanna transfer the edits over to it
I think it did pretty well
it looks kinda soft
yh the edit is solid
nothing u can do about lightroom denoise tbh
but as i said try to put more clarity in the eye so it gets rid of that haze
I can lower its aggression but I left it at its defaults I don't really mess with it
culling bif so boring I should stream
Photo 1 - Lightroom Denoise
Photo 2 - Whatever u used denoise
ok im streaming watch me cull
yh u gotta lower texture now
LR didn't copy all my settings over perfectly. Looks like it missing a mask in the bottom and the texture remove on the head
and if u added sharpness remove it completely
The DxO version doesn't have the weird texture above the head actually. That is interesting
Me belike laying in bed listening to the owls making noice ‘-‘
o, why?
cause dxo already does it
even less saturated version of my edit
oh yh don't remember to mask the background and lower texture and sharpness
I don't vibe with the orange leaves in the blue/white sky personally
then remove the mask with a very small brush on the edges of the bird
that removes the fence
backgrounds already lowered texture
dxo might be a lil crazy. 40 texture looks like my 100 texture on the LightRoom version
yh lower it down to +6
I've noticed something odd about the dxo denoiser
While I think it did better with subject detection, it added a decent bit of lens distortion
Might be slightly shitty masking but too tired to perfect it rn
oh i forgot u also need to disable distortion corrections in lightroom cause dxo does it
oh
so lightroom just adds another correction over what's already been corrected lol
u can keep that
ok
but dxo already did it
i'd keep CA correction tho cause it doesn't do anything bad
can actually help sometimes when u combine both
with that distortion fixed
nah i'm too tired to edit now ngl
Beak isn't yellow btw
cba making it yellow
Is this DXO a LightRoom replacement or you use them together?
depends
when the iso is under 1K i usually just use lightroom
but for higher iso i use dxo
Whew, $140 for PureRaw
Actually not that bad if you're a professional or only upgrading the version once every few versions
their noses are yellow..
Today I learned. It was like a ivoryish gray in person. I wonder how much lighting affects that color or if they age and lose/gain pigmentation
something to research
Thanks for ya help
3am
enjoy sleep
I can only dream of getting photos like this
yall missed a fire culling stream hitrate 110%
Deserved for using chrome
I got my pc when I still didn't get into photography
I would get 64gb now
but 32gb isn't too bad
Yeah best bokeh you can gat
@grizzled nebula where did you find flamingos?
O-m-g
PUFFINS ❤️😍❤️😍
Stil on my bucket list to go to the faeröer islands to photograph these amazing birbs😍
I was in sunny Scotland, took a £40 boat trip out to the Isle of May with my girlfriend and everywhere you looked there were puffins
Not even peak season yet
german spotted
German? Xd
Not german? lmao because of the ö
Ahh
turn it a bit further, be an owl!
ykw imma try anyway
Tried something while on a boat yesterday. Failed to position the sunset perfectly behind the birds
the 2nd one is beautiful
1st one has masking issues
Yeah managed to align it with the sunset, but its perching on a caged spotlight thingy
idk i hate their texture lol
on good light it still looks too smooth oily like someone goes 100% on the denoise slider and makes it look cartoony
my dumb a** opened my other eye and looked directly at the setting sun 😂
beautiful light
DUST SPOT NOOO
i edited it but still
show before 😈
still nice light
?
the air
oh a dust blower
yes
well it's recommended but tbh i just use my mouth to blow it away
a blower will be far more effective tho
my dad has this thing for his ear shouldnt this do the job
then ear wax to the sensor
there shouldnt be any inside
i once got one of those cheap pre-wet sensor swabs
turns out they are too wet
end up drying tons of liquid on my sensor glass
rip

out of focus light
anyone here tried birding with those donut bokeh lens?
don't think it'd be possible tbh
yeah. probably only static subjects. no chromatic abberation, but soft image.
nice pic on the right
yh i like that one a lot
bruh
I bet I can understand you when you talk slow
Dan zal ik heel langzaam voor je praten zodat je mij kunt verstaan! < 3
Dann doll ich halt langsam zu dir sprechen so dass du mich verstehen kannst something like that

German and dutch do similar
Ich kan auch deutch sprechen!
Nice
Live near the german border
Nice
my mothers side german so
I don’t think my parents have ever been to the Netherlands
lol
Me neither
But my great grandfather was there
As soldier
In ww2
Bruh
My mothers grandfather was supposed to as well
K
But he died during the polish invasion
yeap that's what happens during war unfortunately 🙁
People up top fighting like children and sending common people to the meatgrinder.
Yeah…
Anyway it’s so sad I was so you when my other great grandpa died
He was also into birding when he was younger
Yeah go and give home some close up headshots
HOOOW?
youre dutch?
Yes
je hebt zeer leuke foto's
Honestly I should learn Dutch with the amount of time I spend in The Netherlands
im learning it in school right now
Danku danku 😁
If they'd run Ongezellig for a few more seasons I'd have probably picked it up sooner
lens hood is like half of the size
Hey, looking to get into some birding, but hiking out in the woods doesnt seem fun to carry a full-sized backpack. What do you all use? Do you just go outside with a camera in your hands/on strap with batteries in your pocket? Or do you use a small sling bag or bring a full backpack?
i do bring a full backpack
i think most people do
but to be fair most of that backpack will be occupied by the lens
Unless you fancy sitting in a hide by the roadside with your car within arms reach, which is perfectly valid, I think lugging your kit and making a full day of it with a hike is part of the experience?
Yeah I tried that. Unfortunately, im a bit worried of gear flopping around in it when i lie down and crawl around
I usually carry my camera (200-600 attached) in my hand as i walk in a comfortable position, but there's space for me to put it in my pack. I also carry my 70-200 and 24-70 with me for opportunistic landscape shots. With the addition of lunch, a good book and a power-bank, it all gets quite heavy if you're not used to it
That being said, my school bag used to be heavier
and I'm under no illusion that I am more used to heavily weighted hikes than most others, so no expectation for my feelings to be "normal" here
yeah right now in my bag I have my birding kit (Z8 and 400 4.5) and my backup DSLR, with Dad's 70-200 and 24-70. since the 400 4.5 is so small, i was considering downsizing to a sling or something
what kind of backpack do you use?
I had a lowepro, moved to nanuk
i personally wouldnt see any use in the 70-200 and a backup
makes it heavy
So my carrying of the 200-600 is to rest the body on my shoulder and hold the camera by the hood - I find that to be very comfortable.
are there no dividers?
there are, but the bag is so deep, things can wobble a bit
Depends, I usually end up using it for random landscapes or such likes while I walk. I usually travel with others too, so it's good for on-the-trail candids
I was actually looking at smaller sling bags. to see if I can fit the z8 and 400, and then also maybe like a 24-120 on my DSLR as well, for walkarounds
i liked the look of the new Think Tank photocross 14L
but that looks to be VERY snug for 2 setups
The 70-200 is definitely non essential, though - although if you're going on a long hike I'd always recommend a 24-70
do you use a strap for your 200-600? the regular one is so uncomfortable around my neck, im looking for a replacement
If you find out, please let me know, I'm in the same situation
I really need to stop letting it hang from the body
I don't walk with it dangling, but I catch myself letting it hang momentarily too often
i dont reccomend the peak design strap if you use a backpack. the strap has to slide around your body, and in my experience it gets pinched between your back and the bag, so its hard to bring camera up to my face
i have it attached to my lens but it really sucks
Good to know
but what else is there
ive seen ones you can attach to the backpack, that just seems annoying though
blackrapid is better imo, camera slides along the strap instead of strap slinging around you
only thing is you screw it in, so kinda cumbersome for quick attach/detach
leofoto has this
pro strat to make 200-600 feel lighter is rent a 600f4 and use it for a couple days
but itd end up in a regular strap aswell i guess
the weight would be no problem if i could carry it with something other than my neck all the time
I can't decide whether I want bro facing right, or left
id do right
looks more curious
I like it, Picasso
this one
35L, and I like it
just a bit unsure about the mobility
seems alright
heres what I mean by room for gear to flop around
i like smaller backpacks but 35 is not thaaaaat big
ye but it fits the 400 4.5 pretty dang well
maybe just get a bit more packing material?
Easy fix would be little foam blocks that you pack in
under the lens?
Yeah. Or where ever there’s extra space that causes movement
i would do under. Otherwise might be bothersome when getting gear out?
If anything they would just come out with the gear
Small inconvience for cheap quick fix to protect gear
I need to go to an isle
I usually go to my birding spot with a backpack, then when I’m there (I go there by bike) I put my bike and my backpack in the woods so no one sees it and I walk around just with my camera and a strap
how big of a lens?
Sony 200-600
thats like abit longer than 70-200 right
Yes but if it’s f2.8 idk
its 33cm
Your 70-200
oh dang. mine's 31.5 on a body
lol
Yeah the 200-600 is quite large, physically
It's all internal zoom
Not as large as a prime of course, and it's light - but she's chonki
Exhibit A: of my girlfriend taking a phone grab of me getting the puffin shots
careful bro dont fall
What do you all think of the new think tank sling? I was seriously considering it for outdoors stuff
She got very annoyed at me “standing by the edge” so I proved a point
This was the “cliff” she was worried about
careful. you'd need a new lens if you fell
It’s fantastic for wildlife
It’s a Guillemot
unfortunately the areas i go to usually have a few others, and no good places to hide the bag on a beach so i kinda have to carry my backpack
was seriously considering this though; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orS6vvn5q3k seems to be a decent bag that would fit my 400
The PhotoCross Sling V2 is built for outdoor photographers who demand comfort, protection, and durability. A side-access panel lets you quickly rotate the bag from back to front for fast camera access—no need to take it off. A wide, padded, ventilated shoulder strap, supportive waist wing, and tuck-away stabilizer strap provide all-day ergonom...
If it fits in there it’s all alright. I personally would decide whether I want a backpack based on the terrain. sometimes I go on a lil mountain that has kestrels so I get a backpack so that I can walk and climb that thing up since my camera would just swing around and hit a rock or block me when there’s closer stones. Or if there’s a spot where it’s slippery a backpack may be the best thing.
@molten moon that shot was nice, why delete?
Ok nice shot
what are your thoughts on lenscoat/rolanpro covers? should I get one?
Idk how much they help about like scratch protection, I would definitely get one if I had the money but rn I’m saving up for a star tracker though I think for camouflage they are useless if you’re not in a hide or wearing camouflage yourself since the lens is generally smaller and less visible
I think theyre ugly but they do protect a little
i would like one aswell but i cant justify the price
yeah im just worried about putting my lens down and getting scratches lol
Idk this is very valid point, I have not gotten any scratches yet but I have gotten like marks from softer stones which I could rub off. I will get a lens cover as soon as I have the tracker.
We had our very own personal Wagtail friend while we walked around the Island
But they get boring since there’s so many of them
Nice
Yellow wagtails are so much cooler
well fuck all today
i was waiting for some fieldfares in my backyard and a robin came so close ❤️
but its like super dark so i didnt get the best shots of any
At this point you are my new favourite person in this discord<3
Please keep them puffins coming!!
@limber birch I walk arround with camera + big lens + smaller lens.
How i carry? Cotton carrier camera harness. Got like a pouch attached to it that carries the not in use lens 😁
If i need extra gear and stuff with me i got my lowepro backpack with
thoughts?
Love the light!
No go again! Be one with the owl and the owl will be you!
thanks, been staring at it too long so wasn't sure if i overcooked it
I mean i love it. But Puffins?
the yellow/green in the left too bright
and probably increase birb texture
So what is the process of kidnapping a hawk and then making it sit pretty for you in your softbox?
😍😍😍
I discarded all of these shots initially and then stumbled on them during a harddrive clearout too
Bro was in an enclosure that had a small hole at the top for light
But the bars of the enclosure absolutely washed out the image
I used a lifetime supply of dehaze on these
same
did anyone see bee eater ? the season is starting
Not yet personally
Ik there’s some at porquerolles and I want to go there in the few days
idk if they are back i will check it at Marais du vigueirat to see if they are back normally they are
Can I count my dog? He eats bees xD
Only if you dye his fur multiple colors
That would be funny xD
according to ebird there are some there
bee eaters came to the uk recently
Previous nest sites have been all over – from the Isle of White to Cumbria to County Durham.
Waaaay too far away tho
I'm extremely unlucky again lmao, nothing is close enough
WHAT LENS
sharp birb
very
Pixabay?
Yes
tried doin a tineye search and the original website is offline but the photo was taken in 2015
could be an 800 5.6 smh
so called pro stopped paying to host their website smh
what a bum
trying to load it on the wayback machine but it looks like their website was only up for 2 years 2017-2018
Bever heard of that
its like pixabay but basically all photography thats pretty
or most of it
pixabay is a bit broader methinks
Poxabay has a lot of weird images
We used it in school and that’s how I got to know it
And my friend had to do a presentation about pear trees so he searched pear on pixabay and it recommended a blocked image with the description “woman, naked, dark”
Idk he was probably at fault
He’s a witch anyway because he has red hair
You can’t see the face
That’s nice
still trying to get a decent in flight shot, my positioning is whack :c practicing some moody edits cause the shots were eh
Ducks are hard to get a nice picture of tbh
Because it’s like always the same
theres probably a better way to go but my edits swing towards whatever ive seen recently
K
I personally only do ducks very close now
Like mallard
Not ducks in general
yeah duck portraits can come out really nice with some decent lighting. they're not the most active
Tbh mallards are the only duck species I want to get in flight, Tufted and mandarin ducks are my favorite examples of why so many ducks are shit to get in flight
Because those beautiful feathers are less visible then
Took this photo with my Sony Alpha A230 DSLR and Tamron 75-300mm Di LD Telephoto Macro Lens
It's a nesting Swan
re edited some griffon vultre pics
wish this one was higher quality
this is quality 🔥
this mf has an air duct lmao
Never do cool birds show up when I have my camera
Gray created flycatcher. Dude looks like its got a mohawk
idk if i like this one
I hate vultures
why lol
Ugly as fuck
the griffon vulture is so cool
Big territorial ugly birbs
Swans are pretty tho right?
Some swan
indeed
griffons are cool and not ugly
I'll yield on that bc I havent seen a griffon vulture
Did you see the photo of the nesting Swan I posted?
Owls are the prettiest
no
This one
Fixed the colors on the pic from yesterday
Slightly pink now but I like it
Was like WAYYY to green
I like this more
Yeah not sure what I did there yesterday lmao ngl
I need to get lr again and take a shot at this
I dont usually edit photos that arent mine well tbh
I think its also having that dedication towards your own photo ig
Goldcrest
Nature for you
mohawk birbs!
ykw he just kinda too cute
worth going through the small effort of doing proper denoising?
God these must be so hard to spot how do people do it
You could try but youll probably get rid of the pic anyway
they're not super difficult to spot but are extremely difficult to get a good pic of cause of the trees and bushes they're usually in
Yeah I would assume they would be
Something that small would probably be too dangered in the open
i have a better edit
Along with most other teeny birds
lemme find it
holy fuck it took me a long time lol
idk wtf i did with the crop
Oh lmao
jock dowe
Al die Nederlanders hier ook
verschrikkelijk
best i could get out of it
Running lightroom off my 8gb ram laptop in this heat is gonna be the end of me
I just missed a shot of a hawk and crow fighting
Going somewhere today
if u mean a mirror lens
then yes i have
tamro 500mm f8 + d3400
very hard to do but i got some crow shots
At this point, I would just use the mobile version on my phone
man i need to get a kick stand
welp i think i'll be resting my neck today
going out on the bike yesterday made it worse
well on the electric bike
should've taken the other one
i might go out later even tho i can barely turn my neck
Yeah finally
8 lifers this year so far
eastern kingbird, scarlet tanager, blue grosbeak, Yellow-throated Warbler, Orchard Oriole, Green Heron, Yellow-breasted Chat, Spotted Sandpiper
Is this post processing?
I can't tell you what about this one is off but its not registering right to me
I think it's the cubic compression pattern over the bokeh messing with me. I'm guessing this is a screenshot of the image?
Nope it's the original (low res preview)
Ahhhh ok makes sense
I need more painted buntings in my life
Pretty rare though. Elusive AF
Hell yeah my first roller shot
i still haven't seen one 😢
Tbh that was pure luck i was going back home and i saw one i hide behind a tree and take my camera out of the bag so fast lmao
been waiting for fieldfares for so long
i aint giving up
just when i put my phone down one came
got fire shots
what's that?
An European Roller
i'm not sure
I am from the north of Spain
u don't have any in the north unfortunately for u
but spain as a whole as a lot more than france
yes
idk if i have any exclusive bird in my area
tried waiting for a bird to go infront of it but didn't happen 😢
sad
I started birding this year so 90 species this year so far 🔥
Actually only like 60
Because the other ones I have noticed before
Alright I counted and actually for the first time I noticed 33 species
The others I have seen before/ logged based on images
@tough hull i started a (north america) pokedex of sorts for my birding, the link is in my profile
so 70 now after I upload these most recent ones
Nice
idk gives me an existential crisis knowing i'll def never see 2k birds lol but hey i can try
@grizzled nebula and you actually have 600 f/4?
yes
Is that a 1.4x and a 2x too??
No only got a 1.4X
i wanna see one
I want a 1.4x but some website someone sent me a SS of in shopping help showed it'd make my photos pretty soft
i was meant to go to a place where one was reported but i decided not too cause of my neck
i regret it tho
for what lens
Tamron SP G2 150-600
I was planning an upgrade to the RF 100-500 but my job has become not as secure as it was
raw
I can tell
not the sharpest lens to begin with but awful with tc
Gotchya
For an older lens I dont really mind its sharpness. 550mm at f/8 is pretty sharp if you're not a pixel peeper
At 600mm it falls off a lot more
i mean it could possibly be useable on 24mp tbf but it's still not great
A TC?
I'll just have to wait and see if I can get a new job and probably check it out if I ever get the 100-500
don't expect it to be super sharp tho
The bird looks outside of the depth of field
The rf 100-500?
no the 150-600
Oh, yeah its not but it works
btw with a TC on the 100-500 you're only at 100mm more than the 150-600 at F/10
but it stays sharp atleast
@grizzled nebula How is it possible that you find birds (common and rare) everywhere you go?
2x tc at F/16 is semi usable
tru
i barely find any birds
The answer: camargue
i re edit old images a lot
My friend lives in Nice. Been begging him to go for me
he refuses
juletek is much closer and can take the bus there easily
was a fraud (it's 5h away from nice iirc)
what's camargue?
This was 600mm at f/6.3 (before I knew this lens had sharpness issue wide open). Photos like this make me wish I had the 100-500
that's just a gull lmao
hoopoes are common here and flamingos i saw in camargue which is a huge flamingo hotspot
yes but it seems like you always find the perfect moment
looks kinda over processed
not reall
what's camargue?
Where did you take that photo from?
The woods
- Warmed it up
- drew a gradient over the natural light and turned it up
- Duplicated & inverted that and increased contrast/blacks
- increased birb texture
- and birb was dirty AF so I desaturated some of the bright yellow clay stuck to it
Ran it through dxo for denoise
the denoising is what looks overprocessed
have raw file to send by anything just to check
yes it is
Its doing a michael jackson lean
No it's slightly right
Centering birds gotta be the biggest trial and error thing
WOW
still haven't seen a squacco heron
Why
where are u from?
cause i haven't
Heres an eastern cattle egret. They look similar
not really
i've forgotten it
bu they're from europe
grumpy egret
Oh yeah its pissed
squacco heron has hair
Ok
🤷 i can't say I have ever had anyone say that to me. 210-250km/h winds with 2 meter high flooding in some zones there isn't much you can do but sit inside and play cards
💀
