This was my closest
I didn't use dxo on this one because I didn't really need it
Also my trial ran out
that one's nice
i bet dxo would make it look better
but totally not necessary
already sharp enough as is
I did try photolab but it kinda just did nothing
i just dont get how dxo makes ur stuff look worse lol
Yeah pureraw does make it look better
I really enjoyed looking at your photos
Thanks!
I had a whole setup for it which I can link
i bet it mustve taken a lot of patience
i used ot have a 200
i could only get pics of bigger birds lol
#1041487027255914566 message
I think it starts from here
i was taking photos of a few swans with my 250mm and then some old dude parks his car there ans takes out a freaking 600mm lens š
ts unfair š
pay to win
Bring a 400-800 with 2x TC on an APSC
Get closer and better angles and itāll be a better photo
Doesnāt matter if you have a 70-200 or 600, the key is getting close
Every one of my favorite photos Iāve taken have that in common
Itās not like that
My birding spot is a literal swamp
I need a boat to get closer
But I donāt have one so I need cropping and thatās where dxo is a to better because when you have less resolution you see a big difference between those two
Photolab is shit
I have it rn
Like test trial but since I saw what pure raw can do, I will use pure RAW together with affinity probably
Yes
Iām said I didnāt save up for 400-800
Would be much better
Why not just this
1.4x tc and my swamp gear is ready
Lmao
Bruh in Germany itās fully legal
I have a ton of vids from my uncle where heās shooting the boar and itās from the thermal sight mounted to his gun lol
i dont want to scare the birbs
I'm not saying run at them
Use blinds, wear neutral clothes, be still and quiet for them to come to you
It's a game of patience
You will always scare some
You need to simply wait there, and wait for a bird to land
You mean you donāt want to wait 30min?
When I was new I waited like 4h to get 0 good shots
And then some days are like that
Some days you get one in 10 mins
The nature isn't there for you so you must be patient
You learn to scare birds less though
they said to get closer, not wait for them š¤
if i move slowly towards them a car is probably gonna drive over me
Well if you get closer the birds get scared usually so you have to sit still so they come back when you are close
Then you need to find another spot
Or just manufacture your own
What do ur photos look like? Iām interested
I canāt show it rn
Iām making bread and my computer is stacking some Astro rn and probably for the next 1-2h
gorges du vedon tomorrow in good weather!
Now this could have two meanings.

Real
Perfect birding weather
š
damn sharp lence
reading this channel makes me want to take my cam with me tmrw š„
Mine sharper
fuckoff mr pay to flex
Thatās the 100-500
holy shit weyde apacher linz
why are you not using your 600mm
Cause I didnāt have it when I took that picture
Wouldāve been too close for the 600 anyways
smh
I was about 2m away from it maybe less
Me want 200-500
gyatt
mine only 6.3
It does the job
How much does it cost
My rule for long lenses is that the bare lens should be at least as fast as the first digit of its focal length
300/2.8, 400/4.5, 500/5.6, 600/6.3
If itās slower than that it had better provide other advantages
300/4 PF is the easy example of a lens that makes up for its speed
400 f6.3 š„
Thatās way more expensive than I thought
New
I can pick one up for what
500?
Yh just get used
Yeah I wouldnt get new
how much is a 150-600?
Cheaper I believe
The 180-600 seems very nice but much more expensive obviously
Nah should be a bit more
Meant to reply to notversly
It's 1000 more yeah
I think it's a tiny bit worse
oh shi nevermind
Wish it was a bit brighter tho
I think it may be part of the whole nikon premium line?
But it's significantly cheaper so idk
My 70-200 is more expensive
It's a z mount though
So
On a D600 the 200-500 is the best inexpensive zoomchoice
500mm f5.6 pf would be nice but yknow
Fr
I'm fence sitting the nikon z 180-600mm to replace my sigma c 150-600 atm
It really isnt, if you do it properly theres pretty much no difference
Obviously it wouldnt be great for astro since thats just not what its for
but the thing is if dxo is just a bit better which it is AND it doesnt mix up the moon etc then it makes it even better
i get better results with DXO than with lightroom denoise
Ok so from what we have understood
How does Lightroom āmix up the moon?ā
i think he meant mess up
But how does it do that?
i do both
took a few photos before i took that video
it was quite far away tho
so i decided video might look better
Oh I see
I've heard there's a park near my home (5 minutes at walk) with 3 owls ! I'll go to this park when the weather will be good again
yea r5 is great for both photo and video
i think it was actually originally advertised as a video camera but im not sure
something about its 8k capacity
ive never used it tho i just shoot 4k
@fast knoll How are all your bird photos that you've posted taken from so close up?
patience
and cropping
my photos have a wide range of pixels
for example this one from today was quite a heavy crop therefore the image quality is not as good. 6mp
this one looks better because it's around 12mp
for every photo i choose to edit tho i toss out like at least 100
but how do you crop and still have nice quality?
- 45mp
- sharp lens
- correct settings in the field to avoid motion blur
- still being close enough to the subject that a bit of cropping won't destroy image quality
u can only crop so much before ur image looks like shit
i only take photos of stuff that i know will be big enough in the frame to still look good after cropping
the z6 III has 24mp š
and it's still a great camera
sure u won't be able to crop as heavily as with a 45mp camera but there are benefits such as better low light performance
24mp is more than enough to get a great quality bird photo
Is there any visible difference between your camera and the Z6 III?
prob not unless u zoom to like 300% lol
or u blow it up onto a big print
don't worry about megapixels
I have a question: does my Sony HX60 have better image quality than a P1100?
Are you actually going to buy anything, or is this idle questioning?
Just a question out of curiosity, because I have a friend who has that camera.
The R5 will allow for marginally more cropping
And well, I don't think a camera at its maximum zoom of 3000mm has better quality than my camera at 720mm.
Both will make perfectly good bird images
R5?
ohh ok
yep, that's why i want to buy the z6 III
180-600mm
for birds
and for milky way i'm not sure
can't wait to wake up at 7am tomorrow
wdym
i'm waking up at 7am to go to the gorges du verdon
for raptors
ohh right
raptor?
good luck!
griffon vultures, possibly golden eagles and bearded vultures too
do u live near that place with the griffon vultures
ohh yea
isnt that where juletek went
cinereous vulture was spotted there last month
nah he went to another place
too far away from where i live
but the gorges du verdon is a huge hotspot
has hundreds
wow
baronnies might be a bit better but yh like 3h or so away from where i live
for birds
This is Florida, TX or Louisianaā¦..
If in the US
Bc I hate dealing with nutriaš
Southern France lol
Nah the difference is huge
Cropping wise
even going from 24 to 33 its insane
Big difference
š
Nutria are invasive here in Louisiana (USA) and eat every single plant along the creek near me
I don't see them often here, in fact this is the second time I have seen one in the wild ever
Yeah I wouldn't really see a reason for it either
I have seen your camera at 3000 and there's no point using it at 3000
There are tons of Eurasian tree sparrows in Thailand
Like it's as common as seeing pigeons in England
thats a bird
No, no, I mean my camera has a maximum zoom of 720mm and the P1100 has 3000mm. My question is whether the P1100 has better quality at that zoom than mine at maximum zoom as well.
Neither looks good at max zoom
Mainly because it's impossible to stabilise
And not a lot of light gets let in especially with the small sensor
So it's a useless question really
Wait lemme show you, itās biggest a problem if you only have like 300mm
At 600mm I havenāt tried but probably not
Isn't the 3000mm digital zoom
I don't really agree. I went 45 to 24 and the difference is not as big as you might think
Been here 2 mins

That's pretty normal but good
Now get a shot like this
these are low res right
No
It's just stupidly long
And the tiny sensor helps
1/2.3?
Why's the top one so geeked
Are these yours
Yeah it's my shots
Amazing shots
Thanks ā¤ļø
Odd bug
Those were 750mm ffeq?
Oh I forgot how to do maths for some reason
I have a 200-600mm with an aps-c so it's actually a 300-900
get a 150-600
Uploaded from phone so probably
Yeah from phone if raw is not compatible it's a jpeg low res preview
200-500 is sharper though š¤
Difference between 500 and 600 is not all too much
I'll look into it
QC issues
its gamble
150-600 is cheaper and better usually
sigma C specifically
I only really see this for the z mount
Do both have issues?
Thanks though
Oh wait sorry
I see
I'll get the 150-600 then
Gorges du verdon
2h away
god damn
Saw about 50 vultures today
#š”ć»open-feedback someone
WOW
Was your maximum lens 500mm? I ask this because with my camera, equivalent to 720mm, I'm never able to take a picture from close up to a buzzard or something like that.
600mm
600mm, right.
nice
Could you tell me approximately how far away the bird was? And what's its name? I'm not sure.
About 5 or 6m away and its a griffon vulture
They were flying so the distance was never the same
lucky
finally home
I hope your photos were in focus š
Oh wait fuck you already sent them
I'm genuinely the smartest guy alive
they're not edited yet
I like this a lot
Really cool shots man
A6700 in 1.5 weeks
nice
finally
How do you frame on the screen lmao
isnt the zv e10 a reshelled a6400
I just can't
the rolling shutter mudt be hell
ive adapted
a6400 rolling shutter bad
not really
in my experience yes
Imagine your shots with a viewfinder
tbh i have never had any rolling shutter ever
The rolling shutter can be seen only on really fast movement and only in 4k capture
or none that ive noticed
thats nice
and proper autofocus
i tried the a6700 yesterday again and its just so good
dslrs
just dslrs
God I can't type
I do want one
the tracking on it is really good, i tested it on some pigeons
whaaat
z50ii
z6iii
goated cameras
Aren't those like way more
i lovce the nikon lenses
I think they are double the price dude š
One sec
isnt z6 ff
and the 180-600 exists
how does the 200-600 look on the zve10
mind you the cage makes the zve10 twice as big
lol
Big boi
This cannot be comfortable with that tiny body
Actually tripod
rip neck
i dont use a tripod
did u see my vulture pics
2.1
what is your avis
Close enough
with cam
Oh yeah probably that
Yeah
It's ok in general but you need to learn more about editing i think
yh i'm ass at editing
wait
try @grizzled nebula's lens
They would be great with a nice edit
Can you send me some raw ? I'll trying to show you if you want
these 2 are pretty good i think
hope i didn't send out of focus ones
may i take a go at them aswell
sure
they look good to me
clean your lens
clean your sensor

where are they i want to compare
.
why does the auto subject mask suck so bad
Why can we get deepfakes and not good masking
object mask is better
i never use subject mask
i agree
my masks usually look like this because it never get the subject right
yea that's a tough subject too
You know you can just click again on the object mask and continue it instead of making loads
wait really
i thought once i created it it was done
Nope
@grizzled nebula
Yeah it's so you can add multiple objects
Like say the floor and sky or whatever
insane, my gf took this
veeeery far away sadly
Those are probably super sick tho
very nice
Thatās pretty nice
i found a really good owl spot near my home 'ill try next morning and at sunset to get a shot
Pretty damn nice yeah
Nice colours and good lighting
Back shots aren't very interesting
Also the bird is a tad bit too small
yes, it is
But for how small it is, I think it looks a good size in the photo.
At a lake near me for a commercial shoot so didn't bring the ling lens
4 crested greebes
Can't make this up
Does anyone have any advice on attracting birds to a feeder?
@grizzled nebula do you have any bird feeder on your house?
yes
wait
just wait
um
ok
continously provide food
yes
make sure it doesnt rot
I put up a sparrow feeder yesterday; I can show you some pictures if you'd like.
sure
seems fine
yep
some birds enjoy hanging feeders more
So far, no sparrows have come to me, even though I have sparrows nearby.
and make sure that they're close to some kind of cover for the birds like bushes or trees
Well, I have trees around so I guess that counts.
And I'm going to put some thistles I found for goldfinches on my ivy and maybe they'll come.
they will have to
- see it
- realize its food
- make sure its safe
- test it
if its good they'll come back
they dont usually like feeders in open areas
for obvious reasons
I think my feeder is considered to be in an open area, but what do you mean by open area? I have a house in front of me and some trees.
@green canyon but do you have any bird feeder?
i have a couple
Could you show me a wider area of your feeder?
I will when i get home
nice
š
It's been 6 minutes

I mean... the area isn't very pretty, but I have to tidy it up a bit more, but that's the area.
@green canyon
Nah
I canāt wait to go there
No
@magic crown incase u didn't see
i seen them i just didn't have time last night x)
oh lol dw
imma try going back there
i think you need a guided tour 𤮠to visit all of it but i'll need to see
i saw your shots on my pc and you really need to be careful with higlight
@grizzled nebula i can only edit this one the 2nd one is too overexposed to get something good
@fast knoll do u have any bird feeder at your house?
But do you get a lot of birds?
I say this because I just put out one for sparrows and goldfinches with some thistles, but I put out the one for sparrows today and none of them came...
you kinda have to leave it out so they learn it's there
cant just put it out for one day
But I remove the feeder at night because it tends to spray and the food would spoil; I put it out every morning.
Did you see the photos I sent earlier of my feeder?
I say this because maybe I can put some food along the path next to my house, and maybe they'll see it and end up coming.
maybe that could work as long as it's there in the morning ealry every day
you mean the feeder?
yes
pijon
How far away were you?
I found chatgpt to be helpful for mine
Damn good sharpness
yh i kinda fucked up in a lot of them cause they kept flying literally right in front of the sun -_-
but that's for the edit
2m away
i even needed to get a step back bc i was too close lmao
Were you in the forest?
and with robins
Robins are most definitely not fearless
that's why it's better to get subject in horizontal and not very high
it's in a city park with a little forest
Ah, I thought you were saying they weren't fearless.
pigeon are really used to humans
Yeah definitely
not bad
It's a shame they are so common that they just become a lame subject unless it's a great photo
do you have bird feeders at your house?
They have really nice colours
yeah but ppl hates them
so true
how
i think i should've gone to one of the lower belvederes
I remember someone with bluetits on their hands
the one i was at had the most activity but they also flew higher
Seed really helps
even some of them didn't wanted there's only 2 who actually did it
I see
I don't know how, I've never touched a bird except for a macaw and a chicken.
i touched eagles and owls
wild?
falconry species i work with a falconry
but they have a really good life
@green canyon
yep
Does anyone here have a bird feeder that works well?
mine
every morning they destroy it and even fight for it
do you have some photos???
of the birds or of the feeders ?
not of birds bc the background is not that good
doesn't matters
Don't you have any photos? Even bad ones?
just finished this edit btw
no not really but i can show you the setup
How did you take that picture? Was it a lake, a river, or the sea?
and a video that my hunting cam got
sure!
yep
on one of the biggest pond of France
And how do you get the birds to come to your feeder?
the Berre's Pond
i just put it and wait few days and they come
Were you in a boat?
- i made a little pond for them to take a bath
Since I'm completely new to bird feeders, how often do you have to wash it?
oh ok
Turkish doves?
Yeah you need to clean them 1/2week
Yeah
I have sparrows that have a nest on the roof tiles above my house, and so far they haven't come...
i also put a nest and they have visitors
They really love this lottle pond
And how do you clean the small pond?
it's good
bruh ur pigeons have a jacuzzi lmao
well all ur birds
peak bird life
i don't really clean it bc there's a copper disk and a fountain so the water stay pretty clean but i still change the water every week
i've got a lot of species coming to tke a bath that's good and the bath is the only thing will stay during summer
bc here the heat can reach 45°C and the birds is suffering a lot
I'll probably put a pot of water in it this summer, but I don't know how I'll remove the water if the pot is fixed in place.
@magic crown
Just drink it out with a straw
you need to put it in a place then you can clean it easily
I know, but if it's a pot stuck in the wood... how do I wash it?
i have one of these
what did you put inside?
and how did you connect it
solar panel
some rocks and gravels
have you seen the images i send before?
yes
its not impossible for birds to go there, you have to wait and see, but i would put a feeder closer to some trees aswell
I thought about throwing some sparrow feed in the square so they can find the feeder on their way to my house.
I'm going to put some thistles I found out for the goldfinches.
what program to edit do u use?
Lightroom
epic
@undone slate these are my main feeders
i have a couple fat balls hung around the garden
Rarest wild bird I have ever seen in my home town was a peacock, just chilling on the road
No idea how it got there
one of my neighbours has a bunch
or had idk
i havent heard them in a while, usually they scream in the morning
This a black kite or some kind of harrier?
Looks like a kite to me
Kites are fucking beasts though
pretty nice!!!
I think it's a black kite; I have many in my area and I see them almost daily.
I'm giving feedback here because it would be more complicated to talk on the other channel.
@glossy sage Is that your feeder?
Ya
Gonna start mixing seeds in a metal bin though once this black oil sunflower runs out of the feeder because these grackles are way too crazy of bullies
Thinking of a safflower, shelled peanut, millet mix
They even kicked the blue jays away, which is surprising to me
And how often do you wash the feeder and how?
New feeder for goldfinches and other birds. If anyone has a goldfinch feeder, please let me know. I'd like to learn more about it.
I pin thistles to my ivy to attract them
Dunno its pretty new got it as a gift since I like birbs
Nice
I put out a feeder for sparrows and goldfinches, but so far none have come.
Ive had blue jays, cardinals, mourning doves, a singular robin lol, painted buntings, and a singular tufted titmouse so far. And last few days a crap ton of grackles
And did all those birds come with the same feed or seeds?
Yep black oil sunflower seeds. I don't think the buntings liked it very much though they're around but avoid the feeder after they've sampled it
Eventually I wanna landscape my backyard and get trees and stuff put in and several types of feeders but am broke right now
And how long did it take for them to start coming?
This time of year in Florida not long at all
I threw seeds all over my yard so they'd stop by and check it out. My neighbor has some massive magnolia trees several birds live in so they hit my feeder like a drive through
They are all lined up right now but i think im spookin em
What kind of birds are those?
Not sure. This tree drops pepper berries on the ground around my feeder that these eat. Warblers maybe?
Ah Merlin says its a Waxwing
I've never seen them, probably because I'm from Europe and they're not there.
crows here really like them
tits love peanuts
ping me when you can show me the feeder
š
i did
bro š
aahh right
i don't understand
maybe you can get a good photo with that
i will once the leaves are back
Sad that it was a cloudy day when I got this picture but still holy moly being able to capture so much detail is amazing
Definitely donāt regret getting my hands on the D810/Sigma 150-600mm combo, and will for sure try again when infamously cloudy Vancouver weather decides to clear up
(Also yes itās a little crispy but I was excited about how much detail I was able to capture despite that)
nice!
u can also try masking background and dropping tint/exposure
this photo had an all white background before
True
But also it might just be me, but it also starts looking a little too unnatural considering how much fancier Anneās hummingbirds males look in sunlight š¤
So other birds yes, hummingbirds maybe not
Case in point: Iāve done it for other birb photos, just those that donāt have entire heads of iridescent feathers that flash magenta in sunlight haha
even in sunlight they can be all black tho if the angle is right
Pewegwine fawcon
nice
Also true š
Like I said it may just be me overthinking things
Thatās a really great photo btw, I love it
Also also I raise you: theyāre at a perfect angle to show the red flash of colorā¦.but your camera is not focused on them whatsoever š„²
oh yea recovering focus on the subjcet when it's focused on the background is really hard for the AF
i have to switch to spot AF to fix it
Yeah, itās better if you have time to sit and wait for them to come back instead of having to fight daylight
This young male stayed on the exact same branch for a couple minutes at a time guarding a feeder so I got so many pictures of him
also by any chance could u send it as a DNG pls so i can download it without losing any quality
This is ur RF 100-500?
Yes
I'm really struggling to get bird sitting -> in flight captured. I get 1 frame in focus which is where they look like a torpedo when they jump and fold everything back
I'm really thinking about moving to that lens
But it apparently sells out like the instant it hits MPB / Keh and I'm not sure I wanna spend $3k on a lens at the moment. MPB will take my current one for $880 though
i got my 100-500 for 2K euros
I got my Tamron SP G2 150-600 for $450
Facebook marketplace W
There is one selling near me for $1600 but it looks in rough condition
I guess the actual glass looks fine just paint chipping
Weather sealing looks compromised
guy has not been taking good care of it
Looks dropped
even little dents in the mount (even tho it won't affect the lens)
long drive though, with current gas prices it'd push it near $2k anyways
looks like he slapped the lens in
american complaining about gas prices
We drive a lot more!
not really
I was paying $2.3 earlier this year per gallon, its $5.20 right now
you'd complain if yours over doubled too
nice shot
i mean the US has almost 270M more people than most other countries
we pay $9.46 a "gallon" in france
I mean I wasn't really complaining about gas. I said it'd push it towards a price I'd just get a nicer one shipped anyways. BUT if I did want to complain about gas prices, valid. You'd complain if yours became 5euro/L
#š¦ć»creatures message
š¤Ø
You know, I kinda like it in a weird way. Rock should play it off as intentional
Its chaotic
if it was 5⬠a L i think the country would be on fire rn
that would apparently be 21.84$ per gallon
LOOKS great!
we can only change prices once a day at 12am here in germany now
guess what, the standard price simply increased
Maybe it's regional things, or my feeder makes it impossible for crows to lamd
?
what's wrong with that photo š
im more surprised that you cant tell
?
The photo is blurry...
I also don't know how to make it have a low ISO and always a fast shutter speed.
can someone vote this
aperture
you choose what you want, and in general that photo is not that great
background is p messy, couldve cropped abit better
idk about the conditions you were shooting at, but if you could move arnd you can position the bird on the deep green background instead of all the branches
thats very distracting
Also get on eye level if possible
i use S MODE for birds
that's pretty difficult
But the background isn't ugly.
and this one?
My photos probably aren't as good as everyone else's because of the camera quality and how it reacts in some scenarios.
its very messy
no thats not the whole story
I know, but the bird looks fine.
i know
But sometimes it's impossible to change sides or do something else because I'm afraid to move and miss the moment.
you need a different scenery in general
something more nature like
go to a forest or something
this one??
The downside of the forest is that it's more difficult to take pictures of them; they hide more and are usually in tall trees.
go to a park or nature reserve
But what if I can't go and I can only photograph birds from my house in the garden?
you can do that but youll be very limited with things like the background
yes
Does this have a good background?
I think they're good
the background is js kinda ugly in general
the tiled roofs just dont make a nice background
its very unnatural
idk
you have to be more critical about your images
like why do you include that bit of sky in the image
it just distracting
Because if I changed my position I could miss the moment and never have taken that photo.
But I see photos of birds and animals that have a beautiful or distracting landscape in the background, but the photo is still good.
you know you can like... crop it away right
i think thats where the problem lies
not every photo of a bird or animal is good
if the background is distracting, its not a good image
no matter how rare the bird or animal
are you a photographer first or spotter first
i prefer the one where it chooses the shutter speed or manual
do yall think these have potential in a contest?
spotter first
i named the first one "golden beak"
what lens and camera do u use?
thats the main reason why your photos arent that well accepted
canon eos 80d and 55-250mm kit lens
so, what could i do for improve?
just think about your photos more critically
Wow, you must have been really close to the bird with that look.
and not everything is meant to be posted
do you think I have any good photo?
But there are photos that I like and that I don't think are so bad; they could be better but they're not bad.
yeah i was sitting really close to the feeder, like 2 meters
For example, I don't know if you saw the photo of the magpies I posted.
Did you follow the bird or did it just happen to pass by you?
it was a feeder?
imo its good if you think its good, others opinions dont really matter if you photograph just for fun
You can see the reflection of the eye and everything
i was waiting for birds to come to the feeder
can you show me the feeder??'
if you can
yeah, those ones were on the ground but theres a feeder next to them
I put out a new feeder for sparrows and another for birds in general, and I planted some thistles on my ivy for the goldfinches, but still nothing has come š
heres a woodpecker eating from it
yeah it was a good light and i got lucky with them coming so close
Do you wash the feeder? How do you wash it if it's made of wood? And do you use the same food for all those birds, and how often do you change the food?
I'm asking this because I'm new to bird feeders.
Sparrow feeders
i havent washed that one yet, its a new one
goldfinches feeder
How long did it take for the bird to come?
i put oat, nuts and sunflower seeds
there were like always birds cause it was winter and they couldnt find food anywhere else
I'm trying to put chicken feed in for sparrows (believe me, it works great for them) and for goldfinches, niger seed and sunflower seeds.
I don't know when the birds will come, even though I have a sparrow above my house, but it doesn't come!
š
those ones i used were just for basic backyard birds (blue tits, willow tits, great tits, woodpeckers and others)
where are you from?
finland
wow
i'm from spain
Do you have any recommendations for attracting birds, or should I just wait?
it might find food from somewhere else, so it doesnt risk coming close to a house
be patient
how long will it take
in the winter i sat next to the feeder like 3 hours everyday
But didn't you get them the first few days?
I don't know if my feeder is a nice area to take pictures of, but oh well, I'll try when they come.
yes because they couldnt find food for anywhere else
snow covered the ground
But now in spring I don't know if they'll come
nice
i dont feed them in other seasons than winter so idrk
so you don't feed them now?
yeah, but theres still some food in the feeder so ive seen some blue tits there
oh ok
now that its spring i mainly photograph swans and gooses while they are here
from last fall
i could try to re-edit that because i didnt have lightroom
same
in what season are you now?
could try to delete those other swans because they are a bit distracting
I am in spring
spring
1st one idk, 2nd one 100%
snow has just melted and the swans are flying by
are they a screenshot?
Wait do you have the raws
i submitted 1st one too because the beak looked funny with the sun reflecting
i say it because it seems like they have low quality idk
I would like to try these when I get back
that 2nd one is really nice
nope
i don't normally like giving raws
Can i improve this?
these were very difficult to edit too cause of the overexposed sky
i don't know how to edit
R6II's insane DR helped me but still
try putting the focus on the bird that jumped because it looks funny
try deleting those others
Perhaps Discord lowers the quality
i did a panorama to make it a bit bigger but i'd rather not give it away
maybe or i imported it wrongly
lemme find an in focus image lol
maybe
darktable if on pc
Wait Ill try in a couple days
I don't have lightroom on my phone here so
I get a strange message when I click download.
oh
false negative
ok, so i'll download it
man its taking so long to get access to the galleries
Yeah if you don't think about it you will get it faster
Can I edit JPEGs in Darktable?
Yes
I just logged into darktable and it's a bit confusing.
why?
@grizzled nebulaWhy don't your photos have CA?
Nice lens
I was going away
yes
bird feeder?
I made it out of balsa so I can't risk it raining and warping
Yes
but why do you had to take the feeder?
Photos usually have CA for a couple of reasons
Bad lens
Bright against dark
And a couple of others
yep
what is balsa?
#1041487027255914566 message
Not a good idea really
why
It'll increase the amount of slip that the wood has discouraging birds
I have a question, how long did it take for birds to come to the feeder?
If the feeder is hard to access they don't want to come
1 day
Give or take a couple of hours
wow
I live right next to a nest of bluetits so it was bound to happen quickly
I put out a sparrow feeder, I don't know if you saw it in the chat above, but it's been there for about two days now and nothing has come.
My feeder is also in a very good spot safety wise
i live right next to a nest of sparrows
It'll take a while
Sometimes they don't see it
Just leave it for a week or two
I got very lucky with mine
I have the goldfinch feeder in an area where I have a dog, but I don't think anything will happen.
it's a good dog
very lucky
They will be discouraged if the dog is near
I don't think so, because it's high
I also planted some thistles there that are tall, so I hope they come; in fact, "goldfinch" means "thistle eater."
š
How do you know none came?
idk
I suppose so, because the feeder looks the same to me.
I don't know, but I think I could scatter chicken feed in the area where it's usually most abundant, and then follow a path until I reach my house, maybe?
what do you think
@naive fiber
High quality lens and some of them do actually have CA
you can see it there
can i remove the CA with darktable?
I did notice it, but it's not much.
idk, never used dark table
What I don't understand is how contest photos are usually perfect in quality
the CA is mostly caused by me accidentally overexposing the sky
How many photos do you take per second?
high quality equipment, good editing, good settings etc
yep
idk depends
idk if i can do good editing with darktable:(
this is an image i use in contests
the main problem here it's the CA?
perfect iq
pretty nice!
what is IQ?
CA + IQ + Sky + highlights too bright
image quality
Your photo or mine?
this is uncropped
mine
yes
but this is using very expensive gear
can i solve that?
you can
