it's pretty sharp
how i've been looking at these scores is, below 2000 is soft, around 2500 is a good sharp image, and above 3000 is a wow sharp image like the 50mm 1.8 z.
actually the 50mm z is above 3500.
jesus christ, the 600mm z:
2500 corner performance. very sharp all throughout the image.
50-400mm at 400mm:
the PF lenses exist to cut air, yeah
they're my favorite think Nikon makes
like this is just stupid
yea this is a sharp lens. my 100-400mm z is a tad sharper, but it also costs 3x much. around 2500 is considered a sharp lens.
yea that's so sharp
i started looking at the reflections in the eyes for sharpness, heh
my sharpest 50-250mm
it's even acceptable on a 1.4, which to me is crazy
a lot of this is the fact that it's short, too
have to crop more
100-400mm eye reflections. i think that's a car. that white part.
i see
i paid i think 1600 cad for mine
z mount 100-400 is 3650 cad
๐
so that photo is with the 600 6.3 with 1.4?
aroudn 2500. sharp.
unlike my 100-400mm score earlier which was in the 1800s.
is there one for the rf 100-500
that's the 500/5.6
photographylife is the website, but i don't know if they do Canon reviews
no they don't have many canons: https://photographylife.com/lens-reviews
no 100-500
i like that site bc, well they have a lot of nikon lenses, and also, from my understanding, they use a consistent test across. and i have the tested lenses so i get a sense of what the sharpness of each score range is like. like 50-250mm is soft, and i see that it scores low. that helps me understand how sharp a lens would be.
they're also great about updating reviews with new lens comparisons
ah didn't realize they go as far as updating them. awesome.
and yea, that site was instrumental in me deciding on the 100-400mm.
the focal length waas right for me too, but i pored over that site to make my telephoto lens decision.
and my 100-400mm primary purpose is not birding
it's for getting sharp telephoto shots at grand canyon
if i really really get into birding, i'm getting a prime
i started looking at some of those charts
crazy sharp
but its also expensive as balls so id expect sharpness
yea i've looked around and i believe noct has the highest score on that site
astro specific lens
yea noct is a very specialized lens
astro photography lens?
hmm, i don't think it's particularly for astro, and the focal length isn't necessarily the best for things like capturing the milky way. and there is a discussion of what that lens is actually good for. i'm not sure either.
its so you can say you have a f/0.95 lens
Aye! Portlander here ๐
ah, yea, it gets confused, i'm from nyc, not oregon.
Rippers lol
astoria
lol yea, i've seen people get confused on reddit, people visiting each other's subs.
isnt that where theres a lighthouse
and you can throw a wooden plane from it
ii remember going there a few years ago maybe in like 2014 or 15
probably astoria, oregon.
z 50mm 1.8 is an insanely sharp lens
and it's like $400
this was shot with the 50mm 1.8. check the ruler.
800% zoomed in:
This is what I use personally
i see
yeah that ones crazy
but softer in the edge of the photo
i have the F mount version
it was shot at f2.8
in the center, the score is around 4k, which is bonkers. for the edges, the score is 2000.
i mentioned that 2000 is when i start noticing with my eyes that it's soft
that screenshot i just posted is an example of that.
maybe in the future i will sell and get the z version
the f mount version def looks fairly sharp starting from 2.8, but f1.8 and f2 sharpness seems much better with the z. so if you are shooting wide open often, then the upgrade seem like it will be worth it
i rarely use the 50 tbh
yea, same. i use it here and there, but it's def not one of my main lenses
im looking at either a 24-70 or 24-120 in the f mount as my next one
the 24-70 f mount will be way better than buying a z mount
f mount is like 600 cad
z is 3200
yea that makes a lot of sense
fr
not a gallery shot at all
but it's fun to see the hawk fight off the crow for once
i think i'm going to go to jamaica bay this weekend. i have enough cold weather gear to be toasty down to -10 degrees or so.
should go to Jamaica
๐ซ
heated base layers are soooo good. heated base layer + insulation layer + wind block layer = bird profit.
if i wear my heated base layer pants, down pants, and ski pants, i think i would sweat in -20.
I would sweat so much lmao
it's for when you aren't moving and sitting on your ass. i wouldn't wear this for a hike. need more ventillation for hikes.
damn, wind gust reaching 30 mph+. maybe i won't go this weekend. it is pretty windy and pretty damn cold. i'll see how i feel.
Got this pic the same day where I got my kingfisher in the rain shot, never edited it because I thought it didnt have enough detail lol
Very very cropped
Bro was mad at another kingfisher lol
nice
Kingfisher from last summer
gonna take the new lens to the kingfisher place tomorrow
Will edit later
backgrounds should be insane
This is my test shot taken with 600mm f6.3 and 2x tc + DX crop (ISO 1400). No sharpness added just lightroom default settings.
yo, you just cut my eyes. you need to pay for my medical bill now.
that looks amazing with the 2x tc.
peak
dayum that's really sharp
i gotta try this on my 600 F/4 when i get both TCs
Here's another with 2x tc. Yeah, it is sharp enough for this kind of close range detail shots if you need bit more magnification. But if subject is further away then air often causes haze that reduces sharpness. Also aperture f13 is really limiting in many situations.
Seems like a nice overwater combination, or something for marshes
how
just how
i swear woodpeckers are a myth
ร Grans
Parle anglais par contre ici (au moins les autres comprennent)
Well i changed my spot bc i see him going on another branch to hunt multiple times
Yโa la moitier des mods qui parlent indonesien

Ouais mais bon autant parler en anglais
Chonky boi
Even bigger
Super chonky boi
not 1 bird ffs
it do be like that
they're all camping in the trees
Howโs the lens
Incredible
The background separation is insane
Quite heavy and slightly loud but who cares
f4 depth of field on a full frame camera has to be quite tight
Already had cases of blurry beaks at f6.3 on an APSC lol
that was a learning experience for me too. i didn't realize how shallow dof is at 600mm f/8.5 is if the subject is close. and 600 f/4 is less than 1/4th dof of f8.5.
(i shoot 400mm f/5.6 on my crop, so it converts to 600mm f/8.5)
at 600mm f/8.5, if the subject is 5 meters away, which is def possible with a bird, the dof is 3cm. 1.5cm to the front, and 1.5cm to the rear.
at 600mm f4, dof is 1.4cm
interesting...why is it 3cm for f/8.5, and 1.4cm for f/4?
i feel it like it should be a 1/4 difference, not a 1/2 difference. my understanding is that each stop is 1/2 dof difference. since f/4 to f/8.5 is about 2 stops, i was expecting 1/4 difference.
at f/5.6 -> dof = 3cm
at f/8 -> dof = 4.4cm
at f/11 -> dof = 6cm
k, i've misunderstood something about dof. time to study.
why did i think dof is halved or doubled each stop???????

. i don't like being flat out wrong like this.
makes sense that dof follows the same progression as aperture
i'm pissed off about tomorrow
not going to take pics of the raptors cause it'll be raining and ik they won't be out
yea, this is tomorrow for us in nyc. i guess i'm staying home.
how handholdable is it?
it's not easy but it's possible if you take breaks by holding it with both arms for a few seconds or put it down for 2 mins every 5-10 mins
how cold?
finally i have time to go birding during the daylight
ohhh whats that Website?
Ah it says it in the upper right lmao
-14f with wind chill. so -25c. it's not crazy bad, but rather not be outside.
yea https://dofsimulator.net/en/ is a good website
Calculates camera depth of field and background blur and simulates it on a photo for any lens, camera and distance combination with different types of lens blur (bokeh).
i used it a lot to learn about dof in genera, along with crop factor
Looked at some review for my dream lens that cost way too much for my bank account
Someone posted some images, here is one of them :
I almost feel insulted
which lens ๐ญ
prob 600 f4
hmm, is this really the max sharpness of 180-600? #๐กใปopen-feedback message
that looks like a 50-250mm photo
if that is indeed how 180-600 looks, then i am so glad that i got the 100-400.
Sigma 500 f5.6
probably not too sharp at 900mm ffeq
maybe though
lmao no, 4kg is waaay too heavy for me
I like hiking as light as I can
Humming birb came back but while i was trna get a good position it flew away
I got it scratching itself tho
lmao igot a very similar photo today
it's fun to capture longer moments like that
what tripod do you guys use for photo/video for birds btw?
i have some cheap amazon tripod my parents got me a couple years ago
a picture wouldn't convey that moment in the same way
i wanna upgrade this year since im sure a 600mm will get too heavy for this one
definitely
I canโt tell is this 120fps or normal 30 fps lol
Very nice video
I like the sound too
oo
expensive brand new
ill check facebook marketplace
my list of things that arent lenses for this year are a new tripod, new bag, extra batteries/a power bank, and some filters like a variable nd
yeah, dont buy one new, no reason to. If the carbon is in good condition it will last a lifetime when taken care of
ima go to the camera store tomorrow to check some out
davinci is also quite good at stabilziing video
u have to be steady in the field but it can help a lot for handheld
24 fps
Just 4k 120
oh sorry, it is 30 fps, on davinci import
I need to learn a lot more about video, It's fun to do when the conditions outside arent as good for photos
also idk if u meant the have the black bars on ur video but i accidentally did that one time cause i shot in 4096 x 2160 instead of 3840 x 2160
i switched after and i think the latter is the standard resolution
I do and i dont haha, I forget to change my video settings all the time lol
I do have it set at 4096x2160, but i keep meaning to change it
4K-D VS 4K-U >.<
since I dont have an actual 'video' setup i always just rely on the smoother 120fps recording lol
especially since I'm handholding most of the time
davinci stabilization is rlly good
is it available in the free version? I havent looked at it
this was handheld then stabilized
I literally just trim clips and add a few audio tracks haha
yea me too lol
is that a ruby throated? they look really similar to the anna's hummingbirds we have around here
just an anna's
ah ok!
i guess ruby throated's have the red going further back around the neck
ooh, and a slightly decurved bill
I'll have to look into doing some 8k 60 and stabilizing it
yea i need to play around with settings more
I have some 8k 60 recordings, but havent done anything with them
I really dont like the UI of davinci so I've been avoiding learning video stuff lol
it's def confusing at first
i still dont use 99% of the features
i just stabilize lol
sometimes if im feeling bold i'll adjust a slider or two
I think I'll have to mess with color grading 8k canon raw
or probably just apply the correct LUTs
woww
tht reminds me
yesterday afterschool i saw a male and female ruby throated land right next to each other
it waslike golden lighting
onb i ran inside to get my camera but they were long gone by the time i put my bag and stuff down ๐ญ
yea i shoot standard
log is too hard lol
essentially yes
@fast knoll Here's some random test footage, recorded at 8k raw, 60fps, exported at 4k 30
You're right tho, thats some good shit ๐
nope, leme do the same thing at 60 ๐ฎ
gah damn
Same thing @ 4k 60
Just some free music and thrown into a DaVinci audio track
you use an ND?
nah the 180-600 is way sharper than that
ofc not top of the line prime sharpness but sharper than those pics
here are some of the sharpest ones I could find quickly that I took with it
Most of em are cropped a bit, except the goldeneye, and they were all ran through topaz so this isn't straight out of camera sharpness
ah awesome, yea figured. i've heard that 180-600 is a capable enough lens.
got this today ๐ฅ
I don't, I do all video exposure through ISO and aperture
i always have to stop down in the day lol
1/125 and even iso100 is still insanely bright
Crazy condition
More flamingos that I have seen in my lifetime, probably
i've seen 0 in my lifetime ๐
Seen one last week, it was pretty close too
It was annoying to capture since it only lifted its head to breathe
There was over 1000 flamingoes here
Great scenary
Thanks that was so fun to make
I usually stitch photos for wide shots like this, but I guess it is out of the question with wildlife
so i have a little garden in my apartment. i used to have a feeder where mourning doves used to come by. got rid of the feeder though. got too dirty around the area.
anyway, birds stop by my patio here and there and this is the first time i've seen a mockingbird. these are more just documentation photos rather than trying to take a nice bird photo:
i almost snatched up the z mount 180-600 today
but i decided against
and ima santch up a new bike
chickadee
birbb
jesus, how the hell do these birds fly in this temperature? with the speed they are flying at, the wind chill temperature on the body must be insane.
Birds don't really "suffer" of cold temp it's mostly hot temp
i'm just thinking more about the physics aspect of it. like, metal becomes brittle around -40f. in alaska, things shatter all the time. liquid freezes really fast at that temperature. and these alaskan birds, they are flying up high in -60f. i can't imagine what kind of temperature the bird is subjected to when the ambient temperature is -60f. we humans would die pretty fast.
i heard about some birds that migrate over the himalayas. it is so insane to me that a living thing can survive in that condition.
They're bar-headed geese
some cranes do as well iirc
You just have to not know what cold is
holy shit
sharp sharp
the 100-400mm z is bonkers
it is the second sharpest nikon telephoto zoom lens
and the sharpest zoom at 400
Cold morning = round and fluffy birds ๐ฅถ
Brrrrrds
I don't know how they can survive out there. I had at least 5 layers of clothing and managed about 3 h. ๐
yeah its really insane
they're very hardy for such cute little things
i guess some feathers would go a long way though
they got luxury down jackets
Bird becoming big blorb
smh fuck heat haze
shot from my car, lens was fully out of the window but motor was too warm I guess
This one might be salvageable
Bro was so close

heat haze has made many of my photos unusable
nothing we can do about it
Yup
my backyard area has tons of them
Ive seen rufous anas ruby throat
Allat
send some here
come take them
real
Pidgeon built a nest right next to my classroom window lol
Holy light
nice
That second image background is so clean
any feedback is appreciated :>
borbs
Do any of you enter into compeitions? If so which ones? I want to start submitting my work but need a starting point
Bro jumpscared me at the end

The last image in #๐ฆใปcreatures (the bird with the berry) is so good ๐ ๐ ๐
Has anyone got any feedback for this?
maybe play around with masking to bring more attention to the head?
idk
it's a nice photo
I'll play around more with similar shots I got of the same bird to see if I find something I can do to that one which Is my favorite composition-wise
Pixel peeped to the maximum, looks like you went a bit heavy handed on denoise and sharpening
Upper neck area looks unatural, and there seems to be some oversharpening grain in some place
Like here
Pixel peeping are we :D
I see, I'll play around in lightroom this evening
screm
GET OUT OF MY PROPERTY ! ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ข
the little lizard!!
that is awesome, i cannot get over that
image keeps on giving the more you look at it - didn't even notice the dove just shoved in there lmao
follow it's sound
what time of day
prob close to sunset
Overlay this with a COD heads up display and some hit markers
we're bringing back MLG
tuff
Right!! Looks so happy...also brave ๐
Saw a bald eagle in the wild for the first time yesterday evening ๐
(This was the best I could do with using Topaz for the first time without it looking too AIโฆheavily considering getting that Tamron 150-600mm G2 Iโve had an eye on for a while now
)
Kinda wild that it wasnโt in the middle of nowhere either, in fact this was at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver :0 (not quite downtown but definitely still within the Metro Vancouver area)
Wonder if she has a nest somewhere nearby
Also hereโs the crunchy original for the lols
โneed a better lens than 70-200โ intensifies
Dobby having fun today
birb thinking
2 more with little lizard
bro did you feed the birds fried rice
is that a tube of cookie dough?! lol
big bird
only the andean condor is larger afaik
seeing one irl will probably scare tf out of me
the biggest bird ive seen thus far is the himalayan vultures i think
idk how it ended up in singapore but yeah
no ๐ its some bird food in a tube, blue tits like it a lot
you know what hell yeah
let the birds have fried rice fr
I didn't. Is it bad? The lizards got some too
yeah seems pretty bad to me but if you didn't do it to take photos it is what it is i guess lol
i'm not usually one to be against feeding birds but fried rice is another level ๐
Yeah most human foods contain way too much salt for birds iirc
Just in general most foods outside of the natural diet of animal will more likely do harm than good
All this talk of feeders reminds me of this person who attracts long tailed tits by hanging flattened meat in his backyard lol

Also hilarious are the Japanese comments being like โโฆTIL that the so-called snow faeries eat meatโ
i figured! was like "There is no way" but couldn't unsee this with a string through it
yeah small songbirds actually love meat and animal fat in the winter
we always used to go by ther butcher and get free fat scraps and make our own bird foods byu melting it down and combining it with seeds and such
Oops it was my family that put it there it was supposed to be to attract fish when we went snorkeling. I guess we should only give birds fruits and vegetables
yeah def no people food; fruits, veggies, seeds, meat for some, bugs. and gotta be careful with fruits and veggies, onion and avocado is toxic to so many animals, there may be more.
Okok
aight but who in their right mind chooses an onion to feed animals ๐ญ
mourning doves dont have any of the stripes or spots or color, and have funnier necks and shorter beaks
not a good photo of the neck
ye
srsly awesome though, flickr has eluded me for so long, and they live here! (alabama)
The lifers come when youโre not looking lol
I just saw a robin off my balcony then thought this one was a dove and snapped it too
whenever I find a new bird and I look it up and Google is like these are "common and widespread throughout everywhere"
Could be worse
Could be me hearing multiple little owl nearby but not seeing any ๐
(tbh it was quite dark)
now you will see flickers everywhere
this is always annoying lol, i see some weird cool warbler and Sibley says "common, easily found"
the local bird guy reports like 20 of them a week
norterhn flicker
these thingies bother me every morning
they go onto the rooftops in my area and peck at metal objects on the roof
Superb owl
Bokeh is a bit weird, was it taken through a wire mesh?
Yep
Oof highlights way need some more lowering
crap shot of a lifer today
bald eagle
they have a nest where we went, gotta get up earlier though
Currently editing and I am unsure what it needs, Is it too dark?
I screenshotted it ๐ญ
Perhaps some fringing correction? I see quite a bit of green at the right side
How do I do that?
What is fringing also :) I'm new-ish to photography I'd say still
I see the green now
I see a defringe option in lightroom But I messed aorund with the green fringing slider and saw no difference
Lightroom has profiled corrections, if it isn't enough you could play with sliders until you get the right tint out
You can press alt when using sliders to have a better idea of what is being changed
Do not stress it much anyway, photo is already very good ๐
Pixel peeping that much isn't worth the effort most of the time
accidentaly made the bird baked asf ๐
different image of same bird
was messing around with hues lol

wait where are you?
At Mont Ventoux
Nah haha just the sun
the 2nd one
3rd one looks so proud
imma big proud birb
Might be over edited but Iโll edit them properly when Iโm on pc
Cba properly editing and spending time on something I will edit again later
im friends with him now
ive gotten within around 10cm or less to him
gonna take food with me next time
5 times or so over the past few weeks
always the same bush
waterbird day
found an old shot, rough but i like the mood
have you seen thy peregrine shot
#๐ฆใปcreatures message
man tits are so cute
go early, and camp for a few days
like not camp camp but
go like daily
cuz pfs feed quite early and they usually feed once a day
twice if they are hungry
Yeah, sick
are pfs common where you are at
generally observing a single individual is enough to get decent shots
Nah sadly not
Yeah theres two living at that abandoned Power plant, it's getting demolished tho which is pretty sad considering those are like 5 mins from my home and the only ones I know of
mm yeah they like urban spaces as well
Wooo kestrel being chased by a crow, super cool
Thanks, sadly only got that phone vid even tho my cam was right next to my bed but I was still like half asleep while filming lmao
woke up, looked out of my window and saw them
Has anyone sold their photos or prints?
I feel like a few of my photos are worthy of being sold
Iโm a big stickler for sharpness so print quality wonโt be an issue
yes i did
How do u find customers
Word of mouth mainly, and when I go out to take photos
and some exhibit sometimes (hard part)
I don't know if I need/want to edit this
@charred holly You were just here ๐ญ
I just don't have much feedback here sorry ๐
It already feels solid unedited
Lighting is perhaps a bit dull
it looks pretty nice, worth editing
i saw one this morning aswell
also this guy again
Awesome!!!
was quite far away
Really pretty, maybe crop it though
I should have increased my shutter speed slightly, oh well...
do you guys know any good sites for making a photo calendar?
WhiteWall
Probably going back to the pond tomorrow, it really is sea birds paradise
Finally gonna get some bird photography done in 2 weeks, Singapore holiday
when are you comin
or if you are here i can bring you about
SBG is where its at right now, fairy pitta and collared scoop owl
what dates will you be free? ill see if im available
hopefully the pitta is still around
Its a holiday so most of it
Am planning to do Sungei Buloh followed by Yishun 928 Laksa combo
That feeling when you burst a bird in flight and it neatly fills the frame without cropping...

pt 1 of things that never happen
It did happen to me today!
duck fight
you can try jelutong tower as well
its in season
The other ducks seem to be looking at you. โDo you see the โขโขโขโขโ Haha There always has to be one.
โLook at this idiot, he canโt even flyโ
Lol
Forest birding with a 1st good subject
Looks like you sent a super compressed version, very cool regardless
Yeah it's a 2mp raw preview it's not the whole image res
Forest birding can be fun but so much harder to get nice photos, especially in the summer
finally i can go photograph birds again next week
right now its still raining like the past 2 or 3
@dark minnow
Yes?
you reacted so fast lol
Haha
it just gave me a chuckle lol
Iโm flash
nyoom!
Kachow!!
i'll go try to do some photography in a very similar forest tomorrow if i have time
Gl with them
i saw some crested tits aswell last time
but didn't manage to get a good photo
idk who posted and deleted it but 2
me i forgot something on the tit shot
wich one you prefer ?
now its nr 1
send image
Trashy insanely zoomed in image, nothing good lol
Just used my cam for id while doing some birding from my window
imo 2 but with a bit more negative space above the bird
I do like bokeh but left is a bit much, like 3/4 bokeh. Second has a bit more context with that log.
hope i can see a crested tit aswell tomorrow
something like that
I only saw one once, theyre so cool
in my garden
i'm at max
Damn lucky
we have so many here
We dont, theres overall just not a lot of birds where I live
no, skill issue
i was on whole area AF for no reason lol
canon and nikon destroy sony AF for wildlife btw ๐
i need to edit it
maybe nikon but not canon

canon is better than both
nikon is more affordable than both
broke people brand
yeah sure having f/8 at 600mm is better than f/6.3 at 600mm
now i understand why you got the 600mm
being able to afford a 600 F/4 for 3.9k is better than having to spend 14K for one ๐
i mean in zoom
not locked focal
eh 100-500 has much better IQ than 200-600
F/7.1 is barely anything more than F.6.3
yeah but not internal zoom so more dust and problems
redstart!
eh, small and light
1.3kg and small vs 2KG and huge
for a tele not really
feels like you're barely holding anything in ur hand
size is more defendable sure but for the weight almost all lenses have 1kg or more
well personally i'd rather have something light, super sharp and small that's external than a big heavy lens that's internal weight and has worse IQ
the 200-600 is one of the best shaprness btw
anyway we gonna get destroyed for having a brand war here
fr
i wanna reply but i won't cause it'll go one for ever lol
Join the APSC side, we have cookies 100-500 equivalents weighting 625g
redstart again!
all brand are cool (except nikon bc no reason
)
the finals version (portrait cannot be sized larger)
oof
Any thoughts?
I don't see many thoughts in those eyes
Jokes aside, colors are a bit over saturated
over saturated
My Nan loves them
who doesn't
Robin is typing...
Love them as well, one of the rare small birds that actually pose for the camera
I didn't realise your name was actually robin lol
Yeah, it is my actual name lol
Oh that's cool
Good thing my parents didn't named be Ford, I would be stuck shooting cars
I do that anyway so...
I mean at least you're not like
Nude Model
That would be awkward
way too orange
I'm on it thanks
i wanna see a fire robin but they're only in australia
i wanna see a pink robin
Was checking Wikipedia, the exemple pic is stupid sharp
but theyre only in australia
This any better?
do ever so slightly less
also it seems a bit red
idk
I think I tinted the breast for some reason so that would be why
still needs less saturation
i only know them like this
hmm probably
that's how they are
Fun fact, robins are called "rouge gorge" in french. It means "red throat" and it is highly inaccurate if you ask me...
same in german
rotkehlchen
i'm french
and yh they are indeed called rouge gorge
i wanna get some more kingfisher pics
only got to touching distance once
Vernacular names are all kind of messed up anyway
but "chen" is a diminutive which fits more
Only time I saw a kingfisher was on a canoe
Needless to say, it didn't stay long with all the noise I was making
still one of my fav pics
i was literally moving around and it didn't move
wish i had the 600 back then
"wish I had a 600" is something I often say
ive never seen one
apparently they exist around one of my local rivers but are seen very rarely
sad
they've beautiful
ordered some camo today so i'll hopefully be able to get closer to him
im sure ill go hunt for one some day
birds don't like big white lenses
At some point, I should just let go and empty my bank account...
it doesn't matter much when you're walking towards them
but i might order the same thing you did for your lens
they don't seem to like when i have the lens on the tripod cause it's just a big reflective thing, when i handhold it and hide it behind a wall they'll perch
or when i use a small white lens
ive found the way i move to be the biggest factor
if something large moves quickly theyre gone
i set up the tripod and don't move for a while
i prefer walking around
but to be fair i havent really found a good spot to camp out at so far
my kingfisher spot
Ill be going to a larger nature reserve more often soon
should have a lot more activity
i still need to go to the gorges du verdon for the raptors
3 golden eagles reported around there in the last 4 days
there's also hundreds of griffon vultures
ill check ebird for my spot rq i havent done so in a while
i'd have stayed hours if i didn't forget my tripod lol
golden eagles
i live in this area
well near
damn
griffon vultures
this is 1h away from where i live
so many raptors there
8 different species i believe
sadly i dont live in the best area for birds
Same
Kinda nice for birds, not great for bird photos at all
But I feel like theres just a tiny amount of birds compared to other places
yeah
imagine living in like rural Scandinavia or something
Olle Nielsson for instance or Morten Hilmer do i think
Morten could be danish idk
so much activity all year round
so much nature
where i live is not AMAZING but just a 1h drive i get to see so many birds
Lmao yes I'm so jealous every time I watch one of their videos
overrated place
Baronnie better
you are literally ABOVE the colony
like that you can have all kind of shots (under front and above you)
c'est a 2h de plus de chez moi
Black-capped chickadee, they are related to tits as far as I know
i see, at first glance it looked like a tit lmao
they're very close, yeah
beautiful photo
Thanks!
what kind of vulture is that?
is that a griffon
Yeah this is
cooper's hawk re-edit from a few years ago, lost the raw so i'm reduced to jpeg torture
Red kites are returning

One of my fav raptors
saw one yesterday and one rn soaring pretty high up infront of my classroom
Finally!!
๐
Alright guys
got around 1.5h for some birding after school on wednesday
should I go to a Park and hope for some nice light and smaller birds or go to a lake with some possible lifers and some gulls etc too
Go big or go home
So both? Lmao
No, just go home

omg poor parrot
for some reason i never realized that parrots and parakeets are prey

So are the cute fuzzy baby ducks
If you want bird horror, go look at the top ebird photos for the greater black backed gull
they'd kill a man for one french fry
What do you mean?
ohhh okok thankssss
sorry whats the fucking size of this cunt
about 1/2 seals
It is 64โ79 cm (25โ31 in) long with a 1.5โ1.7 m (4 ft 11 in โ 5 ft 7 in) wingspan and a body weight of 0.75โ2.3 kg (1 lb 10 oz โ 5 lb 1 oz).

3 foot tall seagull
Tit
Here is a juvenile
Not my photo, wish it were
why tho
lr denoise is nice and built in
no need for fake detail
Lightroom denoise also provides โfake detailโ
Man I just love all raptors ngl
same
couldnt decide on a fav one
mine is probably the harpy eagle
Actually yeah I could, fav is peregrine, but everything after that just cant be ranked
Yeah theyre sick
the kestrels had a little moment today
hope i can see them lower on a branch or something soon
Personally I prefer the first one :)
Got mine for about 400 or 500 euros
but there's the cheaper and older BG-R10 that's 200 euros i think
maybe less
The fuck I just saw a blue tit glide
wings & tail fully open for like 4 seconds
Ive never seen that before lmao
o
t'as du ciel beu
Guys I've found a shit ton of migrating lapwings & starlings
Some geese are here too
And I saw like 5 cranes
True
Just destroyed myself on the way back down from the mountain
Went on a rock with my bike by accident and the pedal hit my shins
On my way to the birds now
ow
I just biked like 15 or 16km after training legs yesterday
interesting experience
im being ragebaited istg
its 20ยฐc
not a single cloud
and they're cutting down trees with a chainsaw in the forest
no way im getting any birds
๐
But tbh I just realized once again forest birding just isnt great
Heard tons of birds yeah
but I saw SO many more once I got onto the open fields
Such an insane amount of raptors today
No good photos tho

Same here
same here lmao
Municipality thought this was the perfect day to do all the gardening work everywhere
Bro want pure hardcore difficulty
forest may be a bit of an overstatement
couple lakes connected with a larger wooded area
birds come out quite often
im going anyways now the weather is just too good
might photograph some ducks or geese today
Lmao crazy, everyone got good weather today
my entire tiktok fyp is just people posting about Wednesdays weather
I wanna go out again, but I cant bike any further
Having a bus moving from lake A to lake B is so good
Lucky bastard

I dont even have a damn lake near me
I got a few, nothing huge tho
yay no more chainsaw as far as i can hear
Closest really big one is around 1 or 1.5h away
Except one thats in a private domain
Challenge do this shot
The closest lake to me is a 1h30 bike ride from where i livr
WOODPECKER!!
Hes close but cant see him
Kingfisher/duck : 10 minutes
Raptors : 20 minutes
Pheasan : 10 minutes
Flamingoes : 30 minutes
And all of them is only with bus

My area is a fucking cheat code
