@sage matrix any Orks?
@glad mirage not yet, I’m waiting for the ghazskull model to go into a separate box so I don’t have to buy the full set
But I’ve got the indomitus box to start painting 🤣
Post your bladeguard ancients when they're done
I'm deeply in love with those models
Dark angels would fit the aesthetic. Blood angels would be cool too
I’m actually thinking about a home brew chapter
I call em the Achaean Marines
I’m part Greek and I love Ancient Greek history; so I’m getting hoplite helmets for the models
Giving them a bronze spartan aesthetic
Dude, huge potential for bladeguard to look awesome with that aesthetic
what do you plan on callign this chapter
I’m planning on calling them the Achaean Marines
what purpose are they for or is it another chapter jsut for war
Well basing them off of the Spartans from Ancient Greece I’m planning on making them an elite fighting force used for holding the line
Dorn successors?
Much like the Spartans did in the battle of Thermopylae against the Persians
prolly incorporate heavy machien guns
machine guns would make sense cuz 40k but a spartan would much rather fight with his hands
Yeah my point exactly
invent a new weapon
Power spears
Probably going spears
plasma hilt
make plasma sheilds like from half life alyx
can project a spear, a sword, or a spear gun tytpe thing from the same hilt
all while holding their shield in the other hand
But to be fair custodes are also great for models to base off of
boom gg
same
Yeah it’s a struggle
Had to pause on my hobby addiction just to get the pc I have now
this is cool though because it is a shooter which we havent really gotten before in this genre
Right!?
this is a great universe and im surprised there were no other shooter games
Plus there are very few games the do 40k any justice
who would want to play a card game when they can jsut actually play it
Spacehulk deathwing tried to and it had amazing atmosphere, but gameplay fell through
And from what I saw with darktide the pox walkers look extremely freaky
yea but I want something different
Yeah
If they can keep the same vein of combat from the verm games and add a bit more repeatable content and really push for customization that works for the universe, it would rock
well I wouldnt call it a shooter
I would like a combination of doom and l4d
im gonna assume its like VT2 where you could just shoot the whole time if you wanted too
depending on what you were using
but also tha might just get you killed if a certain mobsspawn
what comes to mind is alein swarm by vavle
^
I liked objective based wave survival
One thing I don’t like about verm is the lack of customization
i can agreee
Like yeah there are a few helmets but honestly nothing crazy or special
vermintide customization was just, five different hats and color palette swaps for armor
Im still confused which genre it is gonna be though so hopefully we get that soon
omg i HATED slayer shit and thats all i played
Yeah, either way I’m excited for a new 40k FPS
I hope to see dead or even brief glimpses of astartes throughout the game
I’m glad we don’t play em since it makes things a bit more freaky
yeah it a nice take that doesn't get shown much in 40k games
Astartes are just overdone at this point too so yeah
also not being a space marine certainly keeps things a little more grounded
ye
Space Marine is still really fun. I played some of it two or three days ago
shame they never got to do their trilogy
1st model ever vs my most recent one.
see when i started i had heard of the concept of thinning your paints i just didn't understand the exact ratio of water to paint
also i had very shaky hands
@dusk osprey still better than grey plastic 👍
You're godamn right. I've considered drowning him in simple green several times, but I think it's best to keep a few bad models as a reminder of how far you've come.
i keep my first mini so that i can show people that i didn't start good at painting
a lot of people get intimidated by mini painting
Indeed. I see a lot of people not paint their armies because they're afraid they'll do a bad job.
I thought i was a god when i applied that transfer. Took a good few years off but I’ve been pretty heavily into painting the last 3 years.
@gilded anchor material was resin as opposed to plastic, made it kinda annoying to work with
Better image
Hella Dope!
Still looks sick. Mad props
Indeed. This is literally the first actually painted riptide I've seen in months LOL
@dusk osprey I like it! Could definitely be worse
I brought the riptide when apocalypse came out
so this one only took like
9 months? to paint
i have a chaos knight that's been collecting dust on my shelf half-painted for over a year
Dredd that I painted a while ago.
Some imperial guard I painted recently, I’m still somewhat new to the hobby and I’m looking for suggestions
Looking pretty good mate
Part of me wants to paint up something in a Manga style.
Really monochromatic, with a hint of colour.
Today’s the day!!!!
@proper harbor looks good, although i'd recommend a wash then a highlight on the metals
would give it a bit more of a grimmy used look
I also did Ulrik The Sayer to go with my space wolves company which I’m most proud of. I was surprised I pulled this off because I’ve only been doing Warhammer for a couple months
I was a bit sad with how he axe turned out, I went overkill with the highlighting
I also didn’t have any black paint and used my brother’s furniture paint to do a base coat
Turned out nice though
Chaplain weapons are called a "Crozius Arcanum" for some reason. Regardless, I think if you evened out the highlight it would look pretty sick.
I’m have big sad because I don’t know anyone that plays Warhammer nearby so I’ve only played once with my dad. I think I just might enter a tournament at the gw store a couple miles away
I'll warn you: Tourney play isn't very fun
There's usually casual leagues at most LGS's
those are a lot better, imo
Any D&D (forgotten realms) fans here? I just started reading some of the lore (the blood war between devils and demons) and everything about it fascinates me. It makes you wonder when a company will ever make a game or story about fantasy magic versus sci-fi technology. Personally, I think it would be cool if a collaboration between Games Workshop and Wizards of the Coast is created.
@proper harbor try tabletop simulator
Sparks, Table Top Simulator is perfect for well
Anything physical
I was actually just about to try and find people for Warhammer Underworlds
You find mods that have the units you use.
Honestly if they're not SUPER new or EXTREMLY old models
They'll be on there
Epic, I might have to try that out
THe less sets you've mixed and match, the easier it'll be to find them all across the mods
I bought the new indomintus set
You can highlight the figures and right click save them to spawn them anywhere
this is still the most cursed thing on tts
I mus expando lando
no but seriously you need to get TTS, it's so many good games
Do you think dnd would go good with that?
yeah
you can have physical models for everything, use spawning tools for maps and stuff
I’m currently trying to run dragon heist of water deep on roll20
I was using roll20 for battles but it is very inconvenient
yeah it was annoying when i used it
There's a lot of dnd 5e tables that boast being the "ultimate table" on tts for it
ill take alook at a few of them
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=901492833&searchtext=dnd+5e+dragon+heist there's also this great mod
just a lot of minis
basically, imagine tts is like you have a big walk in wardrobe with THOUSANDS of boxes and you can search them for what you want
not everything is in there but there's a LOT
also you can play gloomhaven so
I'd reccomend watching some videos on like, what fancy stuff you can do with like hidden zones an spawning bags and stuff, can really make stuff a lot easier.
@proper harbor
This looks like everything for spacewolves, the mod says it's 8th edition
Woah
So anyways, I opened my wallet
Tabletopsim is so worth the money its insane
It has almost 40,000 mods so far
Oh no that IS space wolves
The table was just made for blood angels
ive heard many many good things about tabletopsimulator
I need more friends that are into learning board games and card games
There’s a few of us starting some tabletop campaigns for warhammer
If I get my 1000 pts of Orks painted can I join y’all
Mhm, I did blackstone fortress and it was great
Yay my warboss will enjoy punching some faces
BOSS SMASHFACE IZZAT YOU?
We’re doing it online
NO I’Z DURAAG ‘EADPUCHA!!!!!!!!! WARBOSS O DA SKULLSMASHA TRIBE
Tabletop simulator right?
i think roll20
Is it on steam or where is it
Using table top sim is a lot easier
can attest, browser-based
Also looks a lot nicer
but monies
^
So are we talking one of the Warhammer RPG‘s or we talkin eighth edition ninth addition table top
I mean I’m down for both
We're talking Dark Heresy / Only War
That is an unfortunate issue
I mean, Roll20 does have an in-browser text chat thing
but yeah, you'll probably have problems hearing people talk and whatnot
Shit yeah I’m in a d&d discord and there are some issues but it doesn’t usually get so bad I can’t play
That has happened twice I think in the last year or so
Well, hell, sounds like you'll be alright
yep
though we don't have a game setup for it yet
you could join the discord server, like Maryjane, aka @warm dust said
So anyone who plays 8th edition Orks how good are nobz with cybork bodies and big choppas
Don’t matta, Humie hed gonna pop anyway
Necron-tage
I need to make room before I can paint :(
Holy shit the madlad actually did it
Can I just send you my tyranids and have you paint them for me lol
That's a weird looking space marine 😮
Do the necron kits still include the green plastic sticks?
or rods
It's Ferrus Manus lmfa
My man Beis painted so hard he not only covered his model holder in paint, half his hand is painted too
The dude's gone into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE
Everything is CHROME
I got out of the hobby but I've been considering getting back in... uh... now that I am poorer than ever.
That seems... ill advised. How much is indomitus? 250$?
Yes
In other words, that's a full months worth of car insurance. Drive or model... 🤔
JFC WAT? When I played the most expensive single model was like... $100. Set? Maybe $250
It’s a pretty big box set
To be fair, indomitus does have a lot of really cool stuff
and it comes with the new rule book
Ahh ok, I thought indomitus was a single model
LOL
Thing is vury smexy
Nah, it's basically a full SM and 'crons army
ew....
Bladeguard ancients are my waifus
hot
They're so purrdeh...
ehh
ooooh, shield
very purdy i agree
sick
I like your new name @warm dust
thank you i also enjoy your name
nice Blood Angels honor guard man
thank you, friend
nice Blood Angels honor guard man
@jade idol Not mine at all, I wish I was that good. That's a bladeguard veteran from the new box set, I'm just fawning over it.
I will now be dreaming of nothing but chrome tonight
Beis is now Ferrus Manus, change my mind
I'm just gunna buy the assault intercessors and the bladeguard when they get their own kits, I can't justify the full box
But boy do I want it
wait a minute, is that what Vanguard Veterans are called now?
No, Bladeguard veterans are their own thing
VanVets are firstborn and all get jumppacks, bladeguard vets are primaris
And also have like 3 wounds and a million attacks
wot
the hell is GW smoking
an entire squad of people with 3 wounds each and all those attacks
ah, just very expensive and not even worth investing in
still like Death Company people better
since it's an entire squad of men too angry to die
I think they're supposed to fit a bodyguard niche, like Guillimans backup dancers.
dancing guilliman model when
Dude I'd buy it
I second that notion
I'd sell a kidney for that

👍
noice
That’s a weird looking necron
i think its a tyranid
obviously a Krieg commissar
Nah that's a cultist of T'zeentch he's got the blue magic cube and all
Could be a radical inquisitor about to turn traiotr :)) who knows what that blue chaos artifact has done to his mind
cringe chrome vs based edge
Man, had to run to my lgs to grab something and they had an Indomitus box there
was really tempted to pick it up
Anyone get the new 40k rules today?
Yeah
I did!
So...apparently if you're only into tournament play you only need the chapter approved book (unless you don't know how to play and you're new)
Im the one thats new
is that a clone trooper
That's gotta be trolling
@sage matrix If your hand isn't pure gold, Ima be a lil' sad
I like electrocuting people, guilty or innocent.
That looks like super professional XD
Last pick before I sleep
Added a bit more brightness to the red/depth to shadow, and started with the parchment/cloak
nice man i dont even know anything about this stuff but ur shit makes me want to try it XD
Yeah it’s relaxing at least for me
Watch Duncan Rhodes on youtube. He and Beis have a pretty similar style
Would recommend watching videos to understand the overall process of painting. Like what techniques you can use
Also
THIN THE PAINT
That is your best friend when it cones to painting
(When he says thin, he means mix in a small amount of water then apply two coats.)
Figuring out what’s good to base coat a model, and thinning it further to add transitions btw light and dark areas
ive seen adam savage paint onw but it wasn't for 40k
Noice
Love him
I used to use a air brush but I felt like it was cheating a bit
Sorta took the fun out of it
Anyone can spray a model and add highlights with and airbrush, but you always come back to the brush
@sage matrix looks great!
I don't think there is really any adaptability but my Kill Team starter comes in tomorrow so I'll have some Space Wolves and T'au to setup.
Do you guys ever get pieces from Forge World? I've looked at some. I want to make a Gaunt's Ghosts squad for KT sooner than later but it looks like I'm going to have to mod stuff for it to be viable (looks wise).
I saw there was some older GG models that were metal but they can get pricey depending on their state
Why would you go to FW for that though? They only have Krieg models
I haven't looked through there all the way, not really sure what is totally offered.
FW only has Krieg. For Gaunt's Ghosts I'd suggest getting a Failcast Commi, some guardsmen, Katachans and Greenstuf.
Someone suggested I grab these
Combine guardsmen with Katachan bits, model the capes w. Greenstuff. On Commi just cut off the fur collar and remodel as a shawl
actually, came across this too
It's a good choice I guess. Brother Vinni has good quality resin, unles I just got lucky with it
Soooooo much talent in this channel, stunning
I'll be a conceited dick and say thanks as if it was meant for me. Thanks, @river turtle!
@river turtle why not have a figurine contest? with Darktide themed figurines?
It would be cool! I guess for it to be Darktide themed, we'd need to have revealed more about the cast of characters
Servitor Waifu contest
@proud gorge Hold my beer

in the future of course XD and you can show off all the figurines in like a dev stream for the game or something close to that
mighty fine work sir
Why thank thee, sir
Gonna have to get old models out of storage, the stuff I'm posting is years old
Brush up the skills

Pun not intended
😄
dropping hints i see XD
i should start painting again
been thinking of doing a new set of IG in the scheme of the IG regiment i run an Only War campaign for
How do you run Only War with models? It's a pnp
I run OW on roll 20, but i like to paint models of player characters to give to people
Ah, I see
Good immersion
I did the servitor waifu model as a Heretek character for a Black Crusade campaign, actually
fair enough
its just kind of comfy, and i feel its a good reward for the team
they have no survived... 6 months?
only death was an ogryn so far
Quite the accomplishment for Only War
Its been against orks so they have taken full advantage of their ranged firepower
chimera has an autocannon and they have a heavy bolter heavy gunner
also helps their techpriest, whos been manning said auto cannon, basically doesnt miss
fired off 24 shots in a session and missed 3
Wish my Skitarii were this accurate
Has been fun running it, players have survived through wits and sticking together, lost of positioning and near misses
pretty sure 3 of them have now burnt almost all their fate
When I ran BC players would constantly try to kill each other
Honestly, it was like guiding a pack of Skaven warlords through a maze
that's how it feels being the DM for any ttrpg
all my players are new to 40k so i've been lucky in that regard
they dont know what to expect or act as
I played with some knowledgeable players and gave them all different variants of the what the final goal is
Okay, that's why they were acting like backstabbing rats
I remember now
lol
Only war nobody has been a backstabbing rat yet
the psyker did get an NPC squad possessed by demons tho
lol
so the commissar is considering shooting him
i think i broke the commissar with it aswell lol, the possession was temporary bar 1 guy
who failed a WP check and the possession became permanent, they would suffer blackouts and have no memory of what happened
ended up killing another NPC in the night, a NPC under the commissars command
his first loss in his squad and it wasnt even to the orks
grimdark
In BC i gave them a goal - get into the deep part of the Eye, find something called the Oracle. SO the Heretek got too much corruption and tried to lead his pals into vats with various substances constantly and thinks the Oracle is the Age of Strife AI, Slaanesh Champion failed WT checks against a Sorcerer and got convinced the Oracle is Slaanesh himself calling to him personally, Forsaken made some shady deals with local pirates and the Psyker went insane
In the end the Champion wrecked everyone, failed a roll and became a Spawn
It was hilarious
lol
Is it possible you posted it on reddit ?
@warm dust that's adorable
It’s a meme that’s not mine lol @void rivet
Ah ok
Reminds me of the Eric Andre sketch lmao
My lord, It a primaris
So that's why they've got 2W
yo the halfling just killed my warhammer fantasy party
what did he do?
: )
He started a large fire in a mineshaft they are exploring
I just read the suffocation rules
and the player forgot that physics are a thing?
LOL
That’s troll
That why you don't let children with the lighter unless said child has a bigger beard than you
the best part is
I lost my D&D party once because our mage managed to critical fail a chain lightning in a tunnel
I mean he was fighting a fungus zombie almost died so he decided to start a large fire
so i'm probably going to die session 2
Rough
🙂

im not sad
Is it Dnd or warhammer fantasy roleplay
oof
reminds me of the Tyranny of dragons D&D campaign we played
warhammer fantasy
sorry let me remind you he started 3 FIRES
HE DID WHAT?
THREE?????

this sounds like an amazing WF campaign, can I join?
Damn, you do what you gotta do
one in a room full of fungus
one on the zombie that almost killed him
and one on a pile of corpses
the room full of fungus is right next to the way up aswell
so theres a fire bellow and a fire above
well, that will change when he's on fire
i think the pyromancer will burn brighter
oh he's had to burn fate since the first fire he set caused a small expolsion throwing him against the wall killing him on impact
WOW
You'd think he'd have learned
the crit system is amazing not gonna lie
That sucks
But it's also pretty funny
LOL
its such a fun system
Ol 3 Fires Tim
the crit system from dark heresy 2nd edition is fun too
yeah, dark heresy 2nd is only war with a inquisitorial reskin
still fun, but slightly complex at times
at least digitally
i had an ork lose an arm, a leg, part of his skull, get his stomach cauterized and then finally died to a shot in the back
By the emprah
we had a gang leader who had a grenade in his pocket as a last ditch hurrah
i hit him in the chest, critted high enough, and boom
it took out our feral worlder, and half the gang
Damn

theres vehicle crits aswell
the last time I was in a only war campaign I got crit in the arm by a grot so I threw a grenade back at him so hard the imact of the grenade killed him before it went off
we managed to "stabilize" the feral worlder and then had him brought back to the nearest clinic where a doc kind of put him back together
Kind of???
we then called in a favor from the local govenor (which is a hilarious high society game with mostly non faces)
CLAMPS?
oh, and we cauterized a deep wound with a heated bayonet
Ouch
no, the ones used in a proper surgical theater
the tiny ones, for the larger veins. and 2 clamps found on jumper cables.
surgical clamps are a thing ye
Damn sound like there’s a lot of ugly PCs out there lmao
anyway, hauled him to the governor, called in favor and got him to a proper surgeon. afterwards, our cogboy got jealous because a feral offworlder was more techy bits then him
Of course
and of course the high society game. with a party consisting of: A guardsman noble officer, a forge world tech adept, a feral offworlder (without said techy bits), a penal colony medicae and a local noble who wanted to play badass
the only person with a decent amount of charm was the local noble
Oh boy
man 40k rpgs are just so fun
That sounds like it went great
so many characters u can do
the officer was middling (because of a lucky roll and some dress code adjustments) and the rest had no fellowship/charm
Yeah, it seems a lot more variable than D&D or other ones that I've looked into
combat starts out really clunky (at least for us, but we played digitally because of distances)
Yeah there’s tons of shit to look at
it's too simplyfied
its a good beginners setting, thats about it
but if u do the 40k RPGs, shadowrun or pathfinder
that kinda thing
so much more flex
the problem with 5e is that it focuses on classes
Ive already had this argument with others today
if you decide to play something unique, you bone yourself
I agree, it is a good intro
in my opinion
I think its simplicity has its own charm, but I do understand how that is detrimental when trying to be unique
i've noticed that if you have a DM who decides: screw the rules as written, i'll make my own. you can get a lot farther with things, but it's still limited
pathfinder is one if the best when striving for diversity, though it's just complex enough to scare new people away
there's rules for everything
i'm still salty they removed item properties in 5e like dark iron or mithril
Oh no, they're there. Just stupid simple and hella useless; for instance, there's a metal that gives you 2x damage to objects. It costs 10x as much as a normal weapon
3.5e is a mess where becoming frankenstein makes you god tier
druidzilla comes to mind
but, let me continue with the high society bit
so there is 5 of us, only 2 who have a clue what's about to happen

🍿
the cogboy got stuck in a closet with surveillance gear (scared one of the maids who heard weird sounds, almost blowing our cover), the feral offworlder was put on show as a model as a "prime specimen" (we got lucky the hive world was somewhat decadent) and the medicae got dolled up as a waiter
now, about an hour into the party/ball/roman orgy, we get a signal from the cogboy that there are unknown vox communications in the area. the governor gave us access to his channels so those were checked and filtered out.
so we get the medicae, and tell him to go check it out, it turned out to be some prime blackmail material down the line (scions of to rival houses having a nice "Private party" somewhere secluded)
when the officer sees a noble keep scratching his ear, like he was wearing a comm bead
Officer be like: "owo, what's this?"
we manage to speak to him privately and he confesses to being a spy (from a totally unrelated noble house) when a scream echoes through the room (think like thrice the size of a large ballroom) when we see a lady from in a beautiful dress holding what looks like a detonator
we are caught flat footed, and are not really packing any kind of heavy heat
when she starts a long winded speech about how her house was betrayed, yada yada yada, the feral worlder saunters up towards her, acting all "captivated" by her beauty
he grabs a glass of water from a nearby table and almost reverently offer it to her. she was caught absolutely of guard and even stopped her speech. so our DM gave the feral worlder a free action, which he could spend however he wanted

to which the player replied: i offer her the glass of water, right into her face. to which he yelled the words: beautiful lady, would you like some WATAAAAH
AHAHAHAAAAA
and basically bruce lee rammed the glass of water into her face
a few rolls later, and she lost the detonator in the surprise attack, was bleeding heavily from both her face and throat and a feral worlder was standing on top of her screaming bloody murder at full mast
Oh lord
i can honestly say we never had a ride that wild again
"ride"

the crowd gave the guy a thunderous applause, because they thought it was part of the show
yeah, the governor was pleased, but disappointed that we didn't do it "quietly"
so yeah, that's how we got the favor
oh, and i'm pretty sure the officer (me) had a roll in the hay with the governors daughter
You don’t know
?
it was left "ambiguous"

Fade to black, or just, "something might've happened"?
we were invited to stay there, in the guest quarters. my character woke up in an ostentatious bedroom, and something left in the pocket of my dress blues
a little holo locket, and a weird (possibly) eldar stone
if i touch it, she can feel it too
yeah, it was awesome
Thanks for the story
no problem
nice
Fuckin' A, the detail on that shield is nuts
I am so in love with bladeguard. I NEEEEEED IT
Clean, fantastic work
Nice, you insult them at the same time (thank you AC: oddessey)
Bravo 👏
@sage matrix do you use Gee-Dubs paints only? Was wondering what you used for the shield surface
Yeah actually
I have some army painter but I mainly have been using GW; since my hobby shop is stocked with them
Plus paint consistency, pigment doesn’t separate from the oils as much
I used oils for the first time this past weekend. I enjoy them quite a bit and I think Iam giong to try chrome nmm
Oil paints? I'm gonna try pin washes and weathering with oils as soon as I've got the base colours to my models. Whenever that happens...
@deft gorge that’s looks really good
Tnx
Np
If you add some textures to the base you sit will have a prime model
Like dried earth with fluorescent green good seeping from the cracks
I recently bhought a basin kit
Noice!!!!
So yea will prob do
Like started with hobby like almost a year ago
But i do have some big gab during some models
i have a question do you think eldar support weapons are as big as mek gunz?
They are slightly smaller if I remember correctly.
The inquisition is pleased with the state of your quarters
Где Космические Волки, @tiny swift ? Где пирование?
one day ill be as cool as komissar
@barren leaf кончились(
Беда, отчаяние
@tacit chasm 🤣
@barren leaf я больше по Имперской гвардии
@warm dust a marvel comic about calgar is coming out soon . I'll buy it too)
Да, вижу Каина. Уважаю
Настоящий ценитель, хех
@barren leaf еще на другой полке нашел
@barren leaf также атрибутика есть
@barren leaf
@warm dust I buy everything from an online store .. if you translate rubles into dollars, then 1 book from 10$-20$ comics 15$ ..
i respect the commitment
@warm dust ☺️
@barren leaf excellent work sir
Anyone here play DND?
Used to play GURPS with a GM that had made a kind of steampunkish lovecraftian warhammer world. Was fun, especially when my character had been "marked" by some diety without his knowledge and started amassing trinkets that in effect were artifacts that would allow a deamon to possess him.
"steampunkish lovecraftian warhammer world" almost sounds like Grim Dawn
would make a great campaign setting
@forest pier I do, currently running a game.
Nice, what kinda setting is it, and the important thing, are you having fun?
I just went through my old pen and paper folder
the last campaign I ran was 15 years ago
yeah, I enjoy it. I wish I got to play more but no one else in my group really cares to run games so for the past 10 years (with this group) I've been running stuff. We finished Tomb of Annihilation (in TPK) last year and I've been doing a homebrew thing this year. We used to run Pathfinder before that but I got severely burned out on PF and its bloat.
running organized play at LGS and conventions for Pathfinder Society didn't help
started in Luccini, where we needed to catch a boat to flee the city for various reasons
crossed the sea all the way to Lustria
and did some shit on the Vampire Coast
also, Dark Elfs were somehow involved in everything?
man, reading all of this again, that was a mess lol
yeah, same thing happened in my first homebrew game I ran.
delusions of grandeur + not really thinking about the fact that whatever you plan the players will do the opposite.
Taking my Killteam core manual to Fed-Ex store on the way home today
someone told me they will cheaply spiral bind stuff like that
Two more boxes of storm boyz and I’ll have enough for a 1000 pts list for my orkz assuming the points values don’t change too much in 9th as compared to 8th
I approve of this
I approve of this
I approve of this
||Edit your message to I approve of this right now||
Battlescribe's been updated with the new points.
In general I had to drop one squad and shuffle some wargear around for my tau lists. Might or might not translate to something similar for orks.
@glad mirage
@glad mirage we have such things are very very expensive ... ( and I want to(
@tiny swift If you’re near St. Louis, I’m be happy to play a game of 40k with you.
As soon as I get the storm boyz and paint everything
@glad mirage 😩 I am in a completely different country , so I unsubscribed that these kits are very very expensive
Dammit that sucks
Did you finance it?
need new rims bro
Magos Xel and Commissar fighting back to back
Hey, btw, if this isn’t ok cuz reason, pls DM and let me know
I am aware of My oc’s hood and I need to say that I was simply inspired by this 40k fanart I found on the internet about the cult of redemption which I found cool, please understand that I don’t associate real life with 40k
I mean, with 40k, it's kinda hard to not step on some esthetic associated with racist assholes. They make it pretty clear there is no good guy in the futur, only shades of bad guys
Oh yeah, I know, and I just want to say that I don’t approve of racism and those assholes who do I disapprove of
good
Btw, my OC is actually canon
Cuz the people who made the Mechanicus game made it so after I made a terrible weeb joke
So it appear in Mechanicus ?
xD
I claim that Text to speech is also canon now
I don’t have any authority on it, but if I can become canon, so can tts
To be fair, the Mechanicus team is not Games Workshop, so they can't make something canon. What they put in their game had to be approved by GW because they are the one making things canon
It’s close enough
A joke response on twitter is your claim to canon
And just like tts, I regard it with as little respect as I can muster
Dude @copper drum , I think anyone will agree it's not canon, but you don't have to be a dick about it
Kek
Cool drawings though
Here’s what I see from that tweet, I see that there is a chance to get someone in the community to be canon in the universe of 40k. What I managed to do is meant to show that it is possible, but I encourage you to do better and to be bolder
heres what i see
stop usiong twitter
its like drinking water from flint
stop poisoning yourself
this post was made by myspace gang
do people still use google plus?
I don’t know, why are you asking me?
nah its just an example
its just a question that answers itself
theres a term for that but i honestly dont feel like looking it up
anywhom
if your gonna make something canon
give the tyranids tits
Hmmmm, I say let the community decide
Kek
I see
you see my problem here
But there are
i riot now
Ok
But to finish what I was about to say, even what you manage to achieve is small, that’s ok, it still progression none the less
how wholesome
Todays electronics lesson: Black wire go to neutral. Red goes to live.
Spent two days figuring out why my 3d printer had problem feeding filament. Turned out I had wired the hotend fan in reverse...
While playing Pathfinder last night our level 7 team got into a miniboss fight with some cacodaemons, two vrocks, and a templated Vulnadaemon.
After killing the cacodaemons and one of the vrocks, the Vulnadaemon decided to cast summon.
They apparently rolled a perfect 100; they called their boss for support. A Balor.
It would have been a TPK, except the Balor rolled multiple critical failures.
After teleporting to the middle of our group while we fled, our Inquisitor who had been lagging behind us decided to taunt it and run back into the the sealed off area we were running from to buy us time to escape.
The Balor fell for the taunt and attempted a flying charge, which let us get AoOs on it.
ONE hit it, prompting a flight check. Which it fumbled.
Then our Muscle Alchemist pinned it and it failed its check to escape the next round. Since it had spent all its spells and abilities on the NPCs, it was Helpless.
Coup-de-gras with a souleating weapon. Failed save vs death.
Balor is permakilled.
The only fudging by the DM was saying that since it was killed by a souleating weapon its death throes effect doesn't trigger.
Which... Ok, yeah, even if we made the DC33 save for half damage it'd still be a TPK
And it wasn't even supposed to be there.
I don't follow completely, but in effect your party got into a fight that you logically should be screwed in, but RNGesus made the NPCs fuck up royally?
Yes.
RNGesus giveth, and RNGesus Taketh
Took the fuck from that Balor :V
well, it might explain why i had such shit luck lately with dnd
all of the luck went to you guys
I took your luck @lusty crystal in my last dnd session my two lowest rolls were a 13+7 deception and a 16 general
seeing dnd talk in here so ima post a recommendation for people who use roll 20 or have custom campaigns for sights and places without set pieces you can grab
I use this all the time for DnD when I had the will to DM
nevermind, just looked at rules and thats technically advertisment
Looks pretty good
And by that I mean it's a thousand time better than the best I ever did
I legit was wondering why your skin was grey/silvery
I wish I could paint with gloves on. I sweat too much and so on.
i used to but my room gets really hot and i ended up getting heat rash inbetween my fingers
some of ya'lls fingers could use a lil nuln oil anyways
I mainly wear gloves whenever I prime a model
Have you tried Talc ?
My brother gifted me a bladeguard captain yesterday- expect by best Beis imitation posts later today
@sage matrix you bought a wet pallet or you made one?
if you bought it, where from? mine is really ghetto and made from tupperware and im looking for something more purpose built
or did you make it?
I actually picked mine up from Michaels
@tame igloo
I would get one from there but buy parchment paper, the acrylic sheets they give are extremely thick
ya i normally use parchment paper
did your pallet come with a an air tight lid or is it just an open air one ?
i like the tupperwares air tight lid because that pallet will stay wet for months
Bladeguard and judiciar
Gunna paint the judiciar first I think, looks a bit less daunting
i will post my boys too
sucks that all the LGSs are closed due to the virus. havent gotten to play a real game in forever
although ive been playing with friends on table top simulator and its awesome
The simulators are pretty cool but something is always missing in them. I prefer real life games... says the person who hasn't played a game in over 10 years now
Those looks really cool Frasier
Only if they have the tall hat
Hmmm maybe I can use bullgryns as iron guts for my army.
Some people were using Leadbelcher for their Ogryn with special Rippergun
Apparently my LGS and my former LGS have teamed up for a new 40K league recently and its gotten pretty popular, so much so they are thinking about capping attendance now
Took me the better part of forever, but the Judiciar is basically done. Just gotta base him and decide on edge highlights
god i wish i could paint without shaking
Dude I shake like an Parkinson's patient on cocaine. It's all about setting your wrist in a way that allows you some control of the brush.
Trying to freehand stuff without proper support for your arms is awful
I'm pretty new to edge highlights too. My best advice for it is 'less is more'. You don't wanna go too overboard with it.
the sword might look a bit too... clean?
-3 ap
That's crazy good
I'm so out of touch with the current system xD
Plus the 4+ invulnerable save for melee attacks
Also it's probably an energetic sword, blood might vaporise at contact with the blade, which would be why it looks pristine
Or maybe he just have a servitor follow him and clean up the blade after each fight
I wish I had a few close friends still playing, I'd happily go back into the hobby
can we all agree that this guy shits all over the Chaos Master of Executions?
like any Imperial model shits all over their Chaos equivalent?
I don't know the current models, but Chaos used to have some super neat looking stuff. Noise marine, Thousand sons, ect
But I could never get into much of the chaos esthetic. Like the horns on the chaos marine helmet. They are space marine, what the fuck is that about? Is there some kind of space cow invasion I didn't heard about ?
It's the +3 str and d2 that makes it bonkers. ap3 and mortal wounds on 6's is just added bonus. Wounding almost every chaos daemon on 3's, primarchs and tanks on 4's, and doing damage 2 or 3 with every attack? I'm jittering at the very thought
I'm playing him against CSM tomorrow, will report on results
the sword might look a bit too... clean?
I typically use waystone green on my powerweapons because I'm deathwatch, but I didn't think it made sense for a Judiciar. Might add some bloodsplash or lightning effects if I can get my hands on my brothers paint.
What are the centurion? I just saw their model and they just look like fat clunky terminator
It's a space marine inside a space marine. I wish I was joking.
GW thought the dreadknight was such a good idea they made a smaller and fatter version of it
I guess
It's a space marine inside a space marine. I wish I was joking.
@dusk osprey The fuck ?
I think they're adorable. Little waddling robo boys
They are doing a lot of change and new and shit in 40k
I'm kinda surprise at why you would make so much change in a world caracterized by not ever changing. Litteraly nothing has changed in the last ten thousand years
Especially if it's to add new mini like those those blocky boy
It's so questionnable design wise
I get keeping the hobby fresh and developping some army and adding some unit you know
I mean, like the Primaris. It make 0 sense. Improved space marine? They are already walking gods. There's stories about a squad of them holding up an army of thousands. The only weakness of space marine is their scarcity
But now somehow someone grew a batch of improved one out of his ass and they have been sitting playing craps for the last ten thousand year waiting for someone to give an order ?
You wanna know why? Because it's really very simple.
New shit makes money.
You could just make a mark 7 or whatever number we're at armor
you don't need a stupid storyline who just make no sense in setting
New lore books? People buy 'em. New space marines? People buy em. New rules, characters, things to see and do? People eat that shit up
There's a reason GW is reporting record sales since 8th ed dropped.
You can do all that without making as stupidely out of character for the universe as primaris
Like a fucking legion lost in the warp during the horus heresy that suddenly come out of it with its share of lost technology
Saying "hey guys there's a new space marine armor sculpt" is a lot less enticing than saying "and a motherfucking SON OF THE EMPEROR SHOWED UP WITH A NEW LEGION OF SPACE MARINES AND WHOOPED ASS". One sells, one doesn't
But you can have a son of the emperor come out of the warp with a lost legion and whoop ass without having boring mc gee be brought back by fucking xeno technology and then somehow shit a whole legion of super soldier better than even the emperor could make them ?
like
WHAT
Well A: It took Cawl 10,000 years to get even marginal improvements over Big E's designs, and he did it using Big E's personal notebook.
and B: That kind of thing wouldn't sell. GW doesn't give a flying shit about consistency, what makes sense and what doesn't make sense. They care about making a fuckload of money.
They're a company, that's what they do.
And it's hard to argue with the results. The new stuff has made them an unfathomable horde of money.
If there were fucking sweet model and new unit type coming with that new legion that shit would sell all the same
Nope. People want characters and story behind their models. They want to see things move forward. Like it or not, Guilliman and his motely cru have been the driving factors behind GW's recent success.
Do you remember how much people complained about the plot not moving anywhere during 6th and 7th edition? Cuz it was bad
I stopped before 6th
People were so sick of M41.999 it was potable
I seriously recommend you read dark imperium. I can find you the PDF's online if you want.
I hate reading pdf
I think you'll find yourself growing on the characters and plotline. Guy Haley does a great job
Unfortunately plague war isn't in stores right now, but the first one aughta run you about 15$
I hate about every plotline I have heard of about that thing, I seriously doubt there's any way it would grow on me
There's a hundred way it could have been made to fit withing the universe narrative and unspoken law
Instead they took a big dump on it
who cares about plotlines in 40k
in the end it all ammounts to "hurr durr Imperium plot armour" anyway
The Imperium loses, like all the time. A lot.
'Member damocles gulf? 'Member Cadia? 'Member Ulanor?
Ulanors not fair, actually. They couldn't have known
RIP Sergeant Kell
big F dude
I mean, that's litteraly the whole concept of the universe. Everything went to shit, the humanity is on it's last leg, they are loosing technology and terrain. It's just that the imperium it so big that is take a stupid long time to collapse
It's always been a part of fluff that the Imperium expands as quickly as it contract. With every world lost the horrors of Chaos, or the thirst of the tyranids, another is founded by an explorator fleet. That's been canon since almost rogue trader
Speaking of rogue traders actually, they're instrumental in that process. Turns out owning a planet is a pretty neat gig
Yeah but it's just fleeing forward. They can't keep what they have forever so they are just trying to find other place to colonise to keep it going
but like, loosing cadia? That's not something you can replace
They are loosing
they are just loosing slowly
because everything take forever in 40k
Considering the Emperor's goals, they've already lost what's important
true, the Imperium keeps losing... too bad it doesn't reflect at all in the game
Unless it's all a part of his Golden Path™️
My money is on Big E having some super Tzeentch tier 'just as planned' sitting in his bank
while Xenos and Chaos.... well at at least Necrons got new toys too
too bad they're overcosted
Crunch wise chaos and xenos got shafted
fluff wise, 1 million more space marines is neat, but it's a drop in a galaxy sized bucket
If the IoM sent an equal share of space marines to every planet in their empire, every planet would have one space marine.
yes
that's the theory
since forever
but they are so powerful that it's enough to make a difference
One space marine can win one battle, but he cannot win a war.
one space marine on a planet might make a difference in a battle, but they aren't deployed by one
they are deploy by at least an unit
Space marines are supposed to be the tip of the spear, the razor that allows the hammer of the emperor to act easily. They are not supposed to be spread out like too little butter on a galaxy sized sandwich
