What is Darktide?
4 player Co-Op Action Adventure in the Warhammer 40K Universe. If you've played Vermintide, think Vermintide in 40K flavor.

I don’t know much about 40K - what should I check out or read up on?
Some great reads to get you familiar with the human perspective in Warhammer 40,000, we recommend the books of Dan Abnett (the ‘Gaunt's Ghosts’ series and ‘Eisenhorn’ series in particular).

Who is developing Darktide?
Darktide is developed by Fatshark, out of Stockholm.

We’re self-publishing Darktide.

Who are Fatshark?
We’re gamers making games, and we love all things Warhammer! We’ve made games in the Warhammer Fantasy universe before, so to give you an idea of what we can do, check out Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide or Warhammer: Vermintide 2!

You can play as an Ogryn. ✅

What platforms can I play Darktide on?
The game will be available on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S.

What about PS5?
We’re committed to releasing on PC (Steam/Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series X|S.

Which digital stores is Darktide available on?
Darktide is available on Steam and The Microsoft Windows Store, as will become available on the Xbox Store when the time comes.

Is there crossplay between any platforms?
Nothing confirmed here, no, but we're looking in to it. Until confirmed however, consider it not a feature.

Can we play four Ogryns? Please say we can play four Ogryns!?
You can play as four Ogryns.

Will Darktide have controller support available for PC?
Yes. Darktide will have controller support for PC.

How tall is the Ogryn?
Maybe like three Bardins tall.

Photomode?
Darktide is an online co-op romp, and as such doesn’t include a Photomode.

What other characters are there, aside from the Ogryn Skullbreaker?
Zealot Preacher, Psyker Psykinetic and Veteran Sharpshooter.

**What editions are available? **
Darktide is available for purchase in two editions - Standard Edition and Imperial Edition.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Imperial Edition includes:
- Base Game
- Loyalist Pack: Purge heresy in style with these 4 unique class outfits, 8 weapon skin patterns, one headgear as well as an Ogryn body tattoo.
- Mortis Veteran Portrait Frame: A cosmetic portrait frame used to pay tribute to the fallen defenders of Tertium Hive.
- Caducades Backpack: A cosmetic backpack for human characters. Scavenged from the fallen troops of Cadia, this backpack has been repurposed to serve those still alive and fighting.
- 2500 Aquilas (premium currency)

Are there any pre-order bonuses?
Yes! All pre-orders will receive:
- The Atoman Star Weapon Trinket: A cosmetic weapon trinket awarded to those who answered in the hour of Atoma’s need.
- Vanguard of the Imperium Portrait Frame: A cosmetic portrait frame reserved for those first to enter the fray, and last to leave it.

The Imperial Edition contains premium currency. Does this mean there will be microtransactions in Darktide?
Aquilas are a premium currency that can be used to purchase premium cosmetic items in the in-game store.

Wait… I have to buy all cosmetics?
Nope. The in-game store will not be the only way for players to attain cosmetics. Players will also be able to earn some cosmetics through in-game milestones, such as progressing through certain points of the story.

Will you only sell cosmetics in the in-game store?
We will focus on cosmetics at launch - but we also are open to other offerings and will look to players feedback to evolve that over time. For example, Vermintide 2 players were happy with the Forgotten Relics weapon pack introduced alongside an entirely free Game Mode. This is not something we currently plan for in Darktide, but we don’t want to limit ourselves, either.

Who is composing the original soundtrack for Darktide?
Jesper Kyd returns to provide his award winning talents to the ‘tide’ series.

Will Darktide run on dedicated servers?
Yes, Darktide operates on dedicated servers.

Will Darktide support mods?
Darktide will not support mods. Since the game will run on dedicated servers and use anti-cheat there will be no mod support.

Is an internet connection required to play Darktide?
You will need to be connected to the internet to play Darktide

Can I play Darktide offline?
No, a connection to the internet will be required in order to retrieve and maintain your progression and play the game as it is intended to be played.

Is an Xbox Live Gold / Gamepass Ultimate membership required to play Darktide on Xbox Series X|S?

Store FAQ

What’s in the premium store?
The premium store is focused on cosmetic items, that is, character skins, weapon skins, and other smaller customizable items, as well as DLC content.

How does premium currency work?
Aquilas are the currency used in the Premium Store to purchase any of the items available in it. Aquilas are currently only obtainable via in-game purchase.

How can I get cosmetics?
There 2 ways of getting cosmetics: progressing through the game or acquiring them through the premium store for Aquilas. Progress cosmetics will be given out as the player progresses through the story and the different challenges the game offers. Premium store cosmetics can be acquired as long as they’re available and can be equipped by any character of that class, account-wide.

How can I manage my cosmetics?
Cosmetics are parts of sets, which means they usually have matching parts that make for some really cool looks, however, players are free to swap around each part independently and make their own looks.
