Hey, I've just bought the Sage Barista Express and it came in today. I'm new to a real espresso machine and I've tried to dial it in properly. Whilst doing this, it turned out every time that the grinder had to be set to finer settings (almosted maxed out amount for 18 grams). In the end the shot took 19 seconds and still the pressure on the gauge was low. Therefore, I internally set the setting of the grinder from 6 to 4, but still the pressure keeps low (time is extended to 25 seconds). However, now also the coffee is sticky and falls of the machine instead of staying in the piston. Besides, the flow is quite inconsistent and splashes.
Can you guys maybe help me out in solving this 'issue'. I'm probably missing something or doing something wrong 😅

Is your coffee fresh?

I also wouldn't worry about time

I also don't recommend dosing so high that you see the imprint of the screw

Managed to get it right in the espresso range by tampering harder and lowering the grind amount. The beans are probably too old, so I'm also getting new coffee😅

Always tamp until you feel like you can't tamp it down any further

Don't hurt yourself but also make sure it's fully compacted
