Of all the places to skip the fries you chose the wrong spot

They fixed the grouphead to accept any 58mm portafilter instead of just theirs, and I believe they also fixed the scraping issue where it didn't slide in smoothly. They did something to the internals of the shower screen to improve water flow i.e. dual staging or some such but I'm not sure on the specifics there, and they added more granularity to the steps of the built-in grinder (which I mostly use for dark roasts - small conical is fine for those. for everything else I use my 064S)

I’m not going this year since we went under. That said my advice would be to network. That’s where the value usually is at these things. If you only talk to vendors about displayed products and no one else about anything else the event is sort of useless. The connections have more value than anything. I met some green purveyors etc just by happenstance that weren’t even setup with booths

Picnic: as the name implies feels like a picnic with coffee, vibey and then get tacos at mariscos across the street and then a good coffee at dayglow and walk past the closed loquat because it’s only open from 10-2 for some reason

Good friends: open and airy fun drinks happy atmosphere, stare at the courage bagel line in sheer awe or confusion

Idyllic coffee: vibe Maxxing car aesthetic mid drinks cool space, wonder why this space is so cheap and if you’ll get mugged I. The parking or just disturbing a photo session. Say hi to the chickens that live under the bridge and buy a pallet for cheap.

Whoaaa I just mixed a DEK plum smash I got from @vivid violet with some Lavazza Gran Crema and threw it in a 10oz latte and it is…. Absolutely delicious.

The fruit punches through the milk but so does the dark earthy stuff from the robusta and it’s like drinking duo tone colors with natural sweetness on top to round out the edges. Really good lolol so unexpected

I might have not explained that well, they built their world on affordability and their products being for everyone. Being fixable and being bold in design and color. It was the fifties so women were definetely not given credit but one of Charles favorite quotes to tell people who put him on a pedestal was “ anything I can do she can do better”. Orea came through highlighting more huckleberry almost marrionberry, than watermelon, more lilac then violet. But I also think I don’t know what violet actually taste like. This was super soft and silky as it cooled as well, will make a great iced coffee.

Neo Switch I agitated too much on and got a little bitterness I didn’t like but cotton candy came through loud and clear, was a very very soft sweetness but it’s there and gone. Less agitation for round two and a slightly longer steep and that should do the trick

Thought it was worth going to. Outstanding sauce work on the morel and fish noodle dishes. The duck sausage was also a banger. The lengua carpaccio dish would’ve been great if the sauce wasn’t overly salty and I wasn’t a fan of the short rib dish. Desserts were not too sweet and solid. We also had the mapo tofu sweetbread supplement which was good. They were trying to upsell the caviar supplements all night.

Generally seems to intensify aromatics. My thinking is that removing most of the air creates lots of space for volatile aromatics. It also has some textural effects, such as making turbos a bit more silky and coating. I don't really know what's up there but it's neat
