If you have a Costco membership, you can get an ro system through them.

Really nice because in a year or two if your ro system is experiencing leaks or something, Costco got your back.

I am in Altadena almost every day (sadly shooting lots, etc) and in addition to it being a construction zone for years, there are serious questions about the safety of the soil itself. I also know residents who, having spent 60-80k on remediation are waking up with headaches, dizziness. Developers are buying up a significant number of the lots and this will result in complete change in the nature of the community. Not saying this is bad or good (that’s so personal for everyone) but whatever Altadena will be in the future is not what it once was.

The Meticulous is worth the wait in my opinion. I love the capability. Designing a product like that from the ground up is not easy. Its "production hell right now" to quote a famous person. • Power outages in Gardena, CA can be caused by several factors, including weather, planned maintenance, and grid overload.
  • Severe weather events like storms or hurricanes can damage power lines and equipment, leading to outages.
  • Additionally, Southern California Edison (SCE) may schedule outages to perform maintenance and upgrades on the electrical infrastructure.
  • Grid overload, especially during extreme heat or cold, can also trigger outages as equipment may reach its capacity limits.

Quick follow up PSA to my earlier comments about lots for sale in Altadena. Spoke with a long time client who has been a top agent in the area for two decades. They have been on the board of everything and are deeply rooted in the community. The number of lots being purchased by developers is massively underreported in the media. There are all kinds of tricks being used right now to mask the scope of it but the vast majority of lots appear to be getting scooped up by large players. There is also a lot of fraud going on with sales to individuals so please keep both things in mind when doing your due diligence. Happy to connect anyone with my client for advice if you are considering. In no way getting compensated for that and can relay questions if you already have representation to avoid any conflict of interest. Sad to say that the creeps come out en masse in these situations but I think we all already know it. And now back to coffee!!

  1. Wow. Apparently the ICE situation hit really close to home. My son’s friend’s friend was crying. That girl told my son’s friend that her mom’s been missing for 3 days. Next day my son’s friend told his own mom who contacted the school. Through networking, they found out that the mom was detained by ICE. She doesn’t have a father so she was home alone for 4 days without anyone knowing. The mom was recently released after 3 weeks…. The fact that she was detailed but released probably means she’s a legal resident? Yet the poor 6th grade girl had to go through the ordeal. Stay safe out there.

  2. Damn, I also have a friend who lives on the east coast, her husband was stopped outside the bar on Sat night, sent back to Brazil the next day... has 2 small kids, luckily the mother is still with them

I was shooting in Pasadena all day through twilight yesterday, knowing the internet had discovered ICE agents were staying at hotels in the area. I was super stressing the constant sounds of sirens and helicopters and couldn’t check on anything all day. The home owner returned before twilight to make sure all the landscape lights were on and turns out he was a known composer/pianist. We shared our stresses/concerns and then he sat at his grand piano and gave me an impromptu Chopin concert while I finished the shoot. It was amazing ❤️

Sorry late to this, but Courage and Mustard bagels are the best in LA imo. Laylas is good, I’d say a close 3rd. Courage (if you haven’t gone yet) just sucks for the line. When I go I always get there at 645am right before they open and am first or second in line so it’s quick.

To everyone else in LA, what is everyone’s go to espresso bean? I’ve been getting beans from Canyon and like them, but always looking ti branch out a bit

weary chasm
#

I was gonna joke and say Trader Joe breakfast blend. But it might be a bit too dark.

I still do like it.

#

Any random med dark bean should be similar for espresso beans. I guess

#

I like a blend of half washed half natural

#

So I guess sight glass espresso blend is nice.

wide mist
#

It’s hit or miss honestly. I’ve gone in the middle of the day and the line is an hour plus. Other times 15 minutes. For your first time though, it truly is worth the wait. Courage is one of the few places I’d wait in line for. Then I just go over to Dayglow if the line is too crazy and get coffee since I am “close.”

I am partial to Mustards Bagel since I live in Pasadena so it’s easier to get to.

Thanks for the recs!
