They also were sort of snarky when my partner tried to order a bento clearly shown on their chalk board, the small menu on the table and everywhere else because they only do dinner service on Valentine’s Day. I use a Decent and a couple of Zernos on my mobile setup but only do fundraisers. The DE1 isn’t NSF certified so permitted operations problematic depending on location/inspector. I believe they are pursuing NSF for the Bengle coming out later this year but would defintely check. Guy at the Grove running 3 DE1s just got shut down and is swapping out his machines (per basecamp)

Personally I see it differently. There's already demand exceeding the number of devs. This will be a tool to accelerate development.

I do think this will affect the entry level, people new to the industry have an even higher hurdle

IDEs, higher level languages, abstractions/frameworks, SQL..
All of these have made development so easy. Yet demand for SDEs is higher than ever after they've taken effect

Last time I signed up I was given the option to pickup the modem at a store or have it delivered via mail. The activation was done remotely and I was pretty much told to wire everything myself. This was spectrum of course which I’m sure you’re not using if you’re somewhere with fiber available.

It's always been some tech will come and help w "installation" which is just plugging stuff in anyways

My assumption is the unit already has external wiring and they expect you to take it from there as that’s what happened when I bought the house in 2020 and when we bought the condo for my mother in law in 2023.

They’re as hands off as they can be these days. Fortunately it’s pretty easy. I was able to do modem activation from the spectrum app on my phone iirc.

The annoying part with the house was running Ethernet manually through my attic. But if you’re just using WiFi it’ll be ez pz

Would be my options bc I don't really need that fast of internet and I live alone so bandwidth isn't a concern

My house is like two blocks away from being to get fiber 😅. I get pamphlets for it in the mail and even see coming soon on the site but it still hasn’t arrived. And this has been happening for like three years.

At this point it’ll be harder to ditch spectrum since I managed to get a bundle day for my house and our condo along with mobile.

They’re pretty low priced with it. Especially for families or those subscribed to their internet packages. I think it’s a write off for them to lock you into cable internet subscriptions and less likely to leave them
