It is really nice and also have used in some other interesting ways. Like the Tropical is too funky for my wife but if I grind the Tropical at 500µm with brew burrs on one zerno and a trad medium roast at 600µm with cv2s on the other zerno (60/40 split) then blind shake them together and brew she loves it. But if I grind them together on one setting she does not love it…

I was actually drinking the tropical this morning. It’s really nice. It doesn’t even need to seem a lot of rest(probably the processing jumping though) but gets a lot more complex as time goes on.

But yeah, in my experience it gets more complex but less funky/booze like as it sits. So she might like it with more rest as well.

Forgive my ignorance, but is blind shaking just redistribution of the particles? Could this be achieved in a regular catch cup or does the blind shaker do more than what a catch cup could?

Redistribution of the first few grinds and the last grinds that end up grinding differently bc of how many beans are below/above it

I've def noticed a difference recently when hand grinding but it might just be all the chaff stuck at the top

Mostly redistribution which impacts channeling but some densification is theorized due to the potential for fines migration into the pores of larger particles. I don’t know if the specific container matters for the shaking itself though the center stem in the blind shaker must have an impact on the movement of the particles during shaking. Also the way that the grounds are released from the blind shaker creates a cascade with a dome that can’t be replicated from a standard catch cup. No idea if that is a critical or not.
